December 2007 Edition.

SPRINGBOK CYBER NEWSLETTER

December 2007 edition

The result of the recent Australian General Election came as a huge disappointment to all those who value the potential advantages of the British Commonwealth of nations, and who admire Australia's traditional identity and character.

John Howard, the defeated Liberal Party Prime Minister, was one of the few present-day world statesmen who we could respect, and a man who typified Australia's traditional attributes. Johnnie Howard's strength lay in his willingness to oppose the "politically correct" trends of the 1990s - something which brought him continuous electoral success until this year. He fought and won a referendum to maintain Australia's Monarchy (an event which in retrospect can be seen as the beginning of the end for the "politically correct" era worldwide), he committed Australia's forces to the War against Terror in both Iraq and Afghanistan, and pursued the most strict immigration policy of any Western leader. Although it can be argued that his immigration policy didn't go far enough, and that he failed to recognise the growing ethnic threat to the Australian nation, he even so deserved a far better fate than that which the electorate dealt him this year.

At first glance the incoming Labo[u]r administration of Kevin Rudd fills us full of trepidation. Already Rudd has announced that he is ending the commitment of Australian troops to the War against Terror, and equally worryingly is said to be contemplating staging yet another referendum on the question of turning Australia into a republic. But the situation probably isn't as bleak as it may seem. The Australian electorate has always been reluctant to retain one party in power for a long period, and Rudd's victory is undoubtedly more due to a "time for change" attitude rather than support for Labo[u]r's leftist policies. Rudd himself, furthermore, is a bit of a figure of fun - a Mandarin-speaking teetotal lap-dancing aficionado is not exactly a typical Australian stereotype, so his period in office is therefore likely to be relatively short. A far greater cause for concern, however, is who the Liberal Party will choose to succeed John Howard. With well over half the electorate being seen to support the Monarchy it is essential that at least one of Australia's major parties is led by someone who shares this view. If the Liberal Party does not do this then their chances of a speedy return to power seem doomed.

Australia has had to endure far worse administrations than that which Kevin Rudd seems likely to offer. If Australia could survive the dark days of the Whitlam and Keating eras then surely they can easily survive an administration led by the lap-dancing fan Rudd.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC UDI DAY CELEBRATION

Sadly the UDI Day celebration meeting staged by the Springbok Club/ELC this year was overshadowed by the earlier death of the Hon. Ian Douglas Smith, and by the news that very morning that long-standing Executive Committee member Bill Binding had also departed this life. It was therefore decided to turn this meeting into a special tribute in honour of the Hon. Ian Douglas Smith. After the singing of a special song, "Last Legion", by Robin Willow dedicated to his memory, the Organiser/Secretary of the Springbok Club/ELC, Alan Harvey, delivered an oration in which he recounted not only Ian Smith's brave and defiant stance to uphold the values of Western civilisation in Rhodesia during the UDI years, but also told of his own more recent meetings with the great man when he had emphasised his great pride in the glories of the British Empire and how he maintained great faith in the upcoming generation of the British people to restore Britain's greatness. After this the guest of honour at the function, Mr. Neil Thain, the UK Managing Director of Msasa Enterprises, gave a highly informative talk about his own life and career in Rhodesia, which was followed by the screening of several clips of videos currently being marketed by Msasa Enterprises - including many involving interviews with Ian Smith himself. As one attendee observed after viewing these: "It made me realise why I'm so proud to have been born a Rhodesian".

FORTHCOMING SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC EVENTS

As circumstances have made it very difficult for the Springbok Club/ELC to stage their traditional Day of the Vow commemoration meeting in December this year, it has therefore been decided to bring forward the organisation's 2008 AGM to this month instead.

The 2008 Annual General Meeting of the Springbok Club/Empire Loyalist Club will therefore take place on Friday 28th December 2007, and precise details have already been notified to all fully paid-up and recently lapsed members. You are reminded, however, that although all fully paid-up members of the Springbok Club/ELC are entitled to attend this meeting, only Honorary, Life and Full members will be allowed to vote or stand for office - though renewal payments may of course be made on the day. As reported above, we have all been greatly saddened by the recent death of long-standing SC/ELC ExCo member William "Bill" Binding, so at the conclusion of the business-side of the AGM (at approximately 20.00 hrs) Dr. John Pope-de Locksley, Bill Binding's nephew, will deliver an illustrated talk about the life and patriotic beliefs and activism of his beloved uncle. All other supporters of the SC/ELC (be they members or not) are welcomed to attend this part of the meeting. (If any member hasn't received their official notification - or if any supporter would like to take out membership and attend the full AGM, or simply attend the final section - then please 'phone 07711-188430 to obtain full details).

On Wednesday 16th January 2008 the SC/ELC will be staging a special meeting in lieu of the annual Day of the Vow commemoration, at which a leading organiser of the memorial service to the Hon. Ian Douglas Smith in Berkshire, and prominent official of the Rhodesians Worldwide Assistance Fund, with give a report-back on the memorial service and a brief talk on the work of the RWAF. Full details about this meeting will be appearing in next month's SCN.

SPRINGBBOK CLUB/ELC BRANCH NEWS

The Kent Branch of the SC/ELC is planning an informal pub gathering in the north Kent area sometime during February 2008. Further details will be given in next month's SCN.

The London Branch of the SC/ELC is planning to hold a spring get-together, which hopefully will take the form of a braai. The branch is also planning a trip to see the finish of the Doggett's Coat & Badge race on the Thames in July/August next year.

Two members of the ExCo of the Springbok Club/ELC anticipate being in Belfast in late April next year, and it is hoped this will provide a good opportunity to re-constitute the Northern Ireland Branch of the organisation. Could all Ulster-based supporters who might be interested in attending an informal gathering in this respect please e-mail: springbok@falklands.org or 'phone: 07711-188430.

REPORT FROM THE INTERNATIONAL FUND FOR ANIMAL WELFARE

At 8,100 square miles the Tsavo National Park eco-system is the largest conservation area in Kenya. Tsavo was home to between 36,000 and 40,000 elephants in the 1970s, but rampant poaching in the 1980s and 90s reduced this number to 11,000. The population has been rising lately as security and infrastructure have improved. But in May 2007 three wildlife rangers were killed in a pre-dawn shoot-out with a gang of poachers en route to Tsavo. In July, seven elephants were brutally killed in the park and later that month Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rangers arrested seven Tanzanian professional hunters illegally hunting in Tsavo West. KWS needs our help to restore Tsavo National Park to its former place as the crown jewel of Kenyan wildlife habitat. Two years ago, IFAW made a five-year, US$1.25 million (£600,000) commitment to help the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) rehabilitate Tsavo National Park. A similar IFAW-KWS partnership in the 1990s succeeded in resurrecting Meru National Park from near ruin to become one of the most promising tourist destinations in East Africa today. Using Meru as a model, IFAW will help protect Tsavo's elephant population and improve basic park operations, infrastructure, law enforcement, scientific research opportunities and community education.

NEWS FROM AUSTRALIA

Blaxland "One Nation" candidate Bob Vinnicombe was proud to be invited to carry the Anti-Beijing Olympics Human Rights Torch for a short part of its world-wide journey on Saturday through the streets of Sydney. The torch relay is a protest against Communist China being allowed to host the Olympics while political prisoners are being executed there to harvest their organs, while Falun Gong practitioners and Christians are imprisoned and executed, and while Tibet remains under brutal occupation. The invitation to carry the torch arose after Mr.Vinnicombe invited a woman who had been a political prisoner in Communist China to be a guest speaker at a "One Nation" branch meeting. He said the Chinese Communist government is the most dangerous regime in the world today, having occupied Tibet and committed genocide against its people, making threatening noises towards the Republic of China (Taiwan) which is a free, independent and democratic country, and being in possession of Weapons of Mass Destruction. He said the 2008 Olympics will be a public relations exercise for the Chinese Communist Party, as the 1936 Berlin Olympics were for the German Nazi Party. He also added seeing 500 Australians died in Vietnam to fight communism, and even more died in Korea, our Government's kow-towing to the Beijing regime almost amounted to defaming the dead.

Packed with conflict and sexual tension, anyone who loves romance, passion and excitement should enjoy reading this story.

Trisha Jackson was born and grew up in Rhodesia. She immigrated to the USA with her husband and three children in 1990. She and her husband live in a unique, rural community in the Tonto National Forest in the eastern mountains of Arizona.

"BETRAYAL IN HIGH PLACES" by James Mackay.

271 pages, some illustrations. Soft-back £5.00 including p&p. (r.r.p. £10.00)

The compelling story of what really happened in a defeated Japan following the end of World War II. Merchant seaman James Mackay, whilst travelling in the east, started to hear stories of massacres and other atrocities committed by Japanese forces, not just against enemy troops, but against innocent civilian populations. His subsequent investigations revealed reluctance amongst Allied governments to discuss these incidents that seemed to amount almost to a cover-up. Why would the Allies want to overlook the crimes of a former enemy, especially when the leadership of another former enemy was being liquidated at Nuremburg? Using his own research, as well as material prepared by Australian Army war crimes investigator Capt. J.G. Goodwin, Mackay exposes the cover-up and names the guilty. Not only were the Japanese keen to sweep the past under the carpet, but the US government of the time also had its own reasons for preserving the political and industrial elite in Japan. A provocative book, which calls into question the morality of US policy towards Japan after WWII.

Payment can be made by credit or debit card. To order on line, log onto www.paypal.com and enter postmaster@gcartwright.demon.co.uk as payment destination.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?

No.109 : Ms. SANDY STANTON of Weltervreden Park.

Sandy Stanton came from Natal, and was slightly involved with the patriotic movement in Durban during the early 1990s. She then travelled the world, spending a fair amount of time in the UK where she undertook au pair work. Alas she then decided to return to South Africa, settling at Weltervreden Park in the Transvaal. Unfortunately nothing has been heard from her for several years now, so we are therefore very keen to learn what has become of her.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

SCRAP METAL (3)

Sir,

Ironically as the British Government was unveiling a statue to a former so-called "freedom fighter" in Parliament Square, I was on that same Tuesday walking to the station in Birmingham, when I stopped to look at the WW2 War Memorial - the real freedom fighters of our time. On each side of the large monument there is a fine bronze statue, one of an airman, one a soldier, one a sailor and one of presumably Peace.

Yours etc.,

IH, Milton Keynes, U.K.

---------------------------------------

SCRAP METAL (4)

Sir,

I have received a copy of your communication through a friend. Thank you for standing up against the madness of this world. Can one imagine a Christian people confessing Christ, erecting a statue for Judas?

Yours etc.,

Piet Rudolph, Action Committee, Orde Boerevolk (1989), Transvaal, South Africa.

---------------------------------------

SCRAP METAL (5)

Sir,

I liked your analogy in the SCN "To praise Mandela but to condemn Mugabe, as Brown has done, is rather like saying that Ronnie Kray was a jolly good fellow but that Reggie Kray was an evil rogue."! Very apt and memorable.

Yours etc.,

DW, London, U.K.

---------------------------------------

SCRAP METAL (6)

Sir,

Congratulations on your principled stand against the unveiling of the statue of Nelson Mandela in Parliament Square in London.

The Christian Action Network shares your opposition to honouring a terrorist leader whose MK Cadres were responsible for many thousands of acts of terrorism including landmines, car bombs, bombs in shopping centres, bombs in restaurants, bombs in railway stations, petrol bombs, grenade attacks on homes, the brutal necklace murders, burning alive over a thousand innocent people, arson, and other brutal, sadistic violence which left many thousands of innocent victims crippled and killed in their wake.

Once elected President of South Africa, Mandela honoured international terrorist leaders such as Yassar Arafat, Muamar Gaddafi, and Cuban communist dictator Fidel Castro. He closed down the Embassy of Free China (Taiwan) and transferred South Africa’s recognition to communist Red China. Mandela as ANC President also supported Saddam Hussein’s murderous regime in Iraq, and Mugabe’s ZANU-PF in Zimbabwe.

It must also be remembered that as ANC President of South Africa, Mandela personally railroaded through parliament the legalisation of abortion, against the overwhelming majority of submissions, and declared opposition of the vast majority of the population of South Africa. He did not allow a conscience vote, but insisted that all ANC members of parliament vote the party line – for abortion. Similarly Mandela, as Head of the ANC party, and President of the country, forced ANC members of parliament to vote for legalised pornography and homosexuality.

When, as the Director of United Christian Action, I was invited to the President’s home and spent an hour speaking with him about our concerns, I challenged him that he had replaced apartheid with abortion, discrimination on the basis of race with discrimination on the basis of age, and that abortion was far worse than apartheid. I told Mandela that future generations would question his humanity, that he could have legalized the killing of the most helpless and innocent people of all, pre-born babies.

When Mandela stated that apartheid was the greatest evil in the history of mankind, I responded "I cannot agree, that prize has to be given to your friends and supporters – the communists. Just in the 20th Century alone secular humanist communist regimes have murdered over 160 million of their own citizens. These were not people killed in battle by foreign invaders, but citizens killed by their own government, communist governments. Lenin and Stalin murdered over 42 million Russians in the Soviet Union. Mao Tse Tung murdered over 60 million people in Red China. Pol Pot murdered 3 million Cambodians." Then I listed numerous other regimes and their death tolls including Mengistu of Ethiopia, Samora Machel’s Mozambique, Augestino Neto’s Angola, and Fidel Castro’s Cuba.

None of this seemed to have fazed Mandela who was quite comfortable in his allegiance with, and support of, these Marxist mass-murderers.

My father fought in Field-Marshall Montgomery’s Eighth Army in the North African desert campaign in the Second World War. He would be horrified that the home country is honouring a man guilty of the very atrocities that they were fighting against in WWII.

Yours etc.,

Dr Peter Hammond, Frontline Mission, Cape Town, South Africa.

---------------------------------------

SCRAP METAL (7)

Sir,

I believe it is wrong for a statue of Nelson Mandela to be erected in London. Whether or not Mandela is deemed to be a great statesman or the leader of a terrorist organisation, he has done nothing for Britain or its people. To compare Mandela with Field Marshal Jan Christian Smuts, whose statue also stands in London, is ludicrous. Smuts was entrusted with Chairmanship of the War Council in the absence of Churchill on one occasion, effectively elevating him to the position of Prime Minister of Great Britain.

Yours etc.,

JR, Pretoria, South Africa.

---------------------------------------

SCRAP METAL (8)

Sir,

You are right, it is disgusting that a common terrorist like Mandela is so revered by most of the World. Know that the more criminal you are the more the "new" South Africa thinks of you. Really disappointed that London agreed to this farce though.

Yours etc.,

ACS, Durban, South Africa.

ROGUES GALLERY

The latest lunatic posting from Francis "Fruitcake" Andrew which we have been informed has appeared on the appalling "Conservative Democratic Alliance" discussion forum claims that the editor of the SCN "is pro-Arab and pro-Islamic and was involved in anti-semitic extremism when he was in South Africa". Such an accusation is of course not only deranged and easily disprovable (as any reader of "S.A.Patriot" or the SCN can confirm), but also we believe potentially libellous. Both "Fruitcake" himself and the administrators of the CDA forum should therefore be very, very careful about publishing such vile lies in future.

Meanwhile a most interesting article about that other member of the sordid little web of enemies of our movement, Arthur "White K@ffir" Kemp, appeared in a recent edition of the anti-fascist magazine "Spearhead". Although this article quoted the wrong title for the NP-front organisation which Kemp led at UCT (it was called the "Moderate Students Movement", not the "Conservative Students Alliance"), it did even so confirm many of the sinister facts about Kemp which we already knew, namely that he had turned state's evidence in the trial of that great White South African patriot Clive Derby-Lewis, had been exposed by the "Mail & Guardian" as a "source" for the NIS (the "new" South African security service) and had made a number of derogative remarks about authentic South African right-wing opponents of the ANC regime. It was also revealed in this article that Kemp now holds a leading position in the neo-fascist "British National Party" (BNP). We wonder therefore what the naive rank-and-file members of the BNP think of the fact that the de facto No.2 in their organisation was the main reason why the White South African hero Clive Derby-Lewis now languishes in Pretoria Central Jail, and is someone who seems to spend the bulk of his time in front of his Internet screen circulating smears and libels attacking true and genuine British and South African patriots.

OBITUARIES

The Hon. IAN DOUGLAS SMITH

Ian Douglas Smith, who died aged 88 last month, was a titan of the 20th century. Rhodesian-born, he was a true son of the British Empire, who maintained his family's pioneer spirit as a commercial farmer. He served with distinction as an RAF fighter pilot during WWII, being shot down behind enemy lines and then fighting his way to safety with the aid of Italian partisans. After WWII he entered Rhodesian politics in order continue his commitment to his country. He was elected Prime Minister of Rhodesia in 1964, and soon realised that the country had no alternative other than to declare itself independent unilaterally. He proved a highly popular and charismatic leader for the Rhodesian people - and also became a revered hero-figure with patriots throughout the West. This was because Ian Smith and the Rhodesia which he personified was seen as the only bulwark against the then seemingly endless advance of retrogressive communism and the depraved socialist societies in the West which it spawned. During the UDI years Ian Smith outmanoeuvred Harold Wilson and the Rhodesian economy flourished - in spite of international sanctions (never enforced by capitalists in the outside world!) and the Bush War against Terrorism. Only the betrayal of the NP South African Government of Johannes Balthazar Vorster destroyed Rhodesia. Ian Smith probably made two bad mistakes. He didn't inform the Rhodesian people and the world about the extent of Vorster's betrayal, and he remained in the country after Mugabe's ZANU-PF terrorists obtained power, thus giving them a form of legitimacy. It was later during his life that he played perhaps one of his most important roles however. Following the publication of his autobiography "The Great Betrayal" Ian Smith toured the West - and the UK in particular - on several occasions. At all the meetings which he addressed (organised by both the Rhodesian Christian Group and Rhodesians Worldwide) his message was always the same to the British people: you are still the same people who built the greatest Empire that the world has ever known, and your younger generation is just as capable and as patriotic as generations in the past. It was a message which inspired all who heard it, and was a message which means we will always honour the memory of Ian Douglas Smith.
