February 2019 Edition.

February 2019 edition

At the time of Britain’s unfortunate entry into the then Common Market (now the EU) in 1973 many warnings were made about the damage which this would do to Britain’s traditional close and friendly links with its brother nations of the core Commonwealth, namely those mainly populated and ruled by the UK’s kith-and-kin – Canada, Australia and New Zealand (and de facto in those days, South Africa also).

Alas these warnings were not heeded, and as a result ever since that dark day when Britain surrendered its sovereignty relationships with the countries of the core Commonwealth have slowly but surely become weaker – to the clear detriment of all countries concerned. This state of affairs has of course proved bad enough in itself, but more recently we have become aware of an even more worrying side-effect of this growing drifting apart, namely the fact that the core Commonwealth countries are placing an escalating emphasis on the traditions and symbolisms of their earlier primitive populations, and have tended to abandon emphasis on the structures and culture of their ethnic British forebears who founded and developed their advanced first-world nations of today.

For some time now we have been concerned by the fact that New Zealanders have been adopting and highlighting Maori symbols and traditions – and in this regard it should be remembered that the Polynesian Maoris only settled in New Zealand a few hundred years before the first Whites arrived, and during that time did nothing to establish any form of infrastructure or state administration. Furthermore, when Mr. Tony Williams spoke at a Springbok Club meeting last year he told how much the same cultural abandonment was now taking place in Australia in favour of adopting the trappings of the Aboriginal people – even though they are an even more primitive race who have achieved even less than the Maoris! This alarming development has moreover been confirmed by the manner in which many Australian sporting bodies have irrationally adopted Aboriginal symbolism, as commented upon in the December 2018 Edition of the SCN. In this regard it was also very interesting to note that throughout Michael Portillo’s otherwise excellent BBC2 series Great Canadian Railway Journeys references were made to the “First Nations” (as North American native peoples are evidently termed in Canada) in every episode, something which appears to reflect similar growing emphasis throughout Canadian society.

By saying all this it is not our intention to disparage the Maori, Aboriginal or North American native peoples in any way, albeit that their traditions and lifestyle might seem very primitive to us – indeed we praise them for maintaining their own cultures and identities rather than trying to become “mock White Men”. These identities, however, should surely be reserved for their own communities alone, and not imposed upon their nation states as a whole. Our anger however is centred on those White liberals who seek to adopt the identities of these less advanced races, and our concern is that the magnificent traditions and achievements of the British-descended Canadian, Australian and New Zealand peoples which have manifested themselves ever since the foundations of their advances first-world nations have been subverted by adherence to the irrelevant minority cultures of the least civilised sections of their populations.

With Brexit rapidly approaching it is to be hoped therefore that the UK will once again look towards its brother nations of the core Commonwealth for alliances and co-operation, and together will be able to re-establish their common identity as advanced, civilised and forward-looking nations.

Unfortunately the Springbok Club’s planned 2019 AGM last month had to be postponed because unavoidable circumstances prevented two key officials of the organisation from attending. Although the business side of affairs had to be postponed, the subsequent “part 2” of the fascinating illustrated talk about the Battle of the Falkland Islands by Mr. Gary Vincent still took place, and was greatly enjoyed by all those in attendance.

The organisation’s 2019 AGM will now take place prior to the planned visit to the Brunel Museum in London, which has now been finalised for Saturday 2nd March. Fuller details will of course be circulated to all members and supporters in due course.

On Saturday 6th April the Springbok Club will be holding a special buffet meeting in central London featuring an eminent guest speaker, in order to celebrate both van Riebeeck’s Day and the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Hon. Ian Douglas Smith (which actually takes place two days later, the 8th April). Full details regarding this event will of course be given in next month’s SCN, but the price of tickets for this succulent buffet event have been finalised as £14.00 per head for Full Members of the Springbok Club, £16.00 per head for Associate Members, and £18.00 per head for non-members. All cheques etc. should be made payable to “The Springbok Club” and sent to: The Springbok Club, BM SAPAT, London WC1N 3XX, U.K..(All those who would prefer to pay by direct bank transfer should e-mail: in order to obtain the precise bank account details).

The Patriotic Forum held a most enjoyable double celebration last month, in order to celebrate both Australia Day and Burns Night. The day’s events started with a small ceremony at the bust of Admiral Arthur Phillip (the founding Governor of New South Wales) in the City of London very close to where he was born, at which inter alia an excellent article written by Mr. Reg Watson from Tasmania entitled “The argument for Australia Day to remain January 26th” was read out. After this the Patriotic Forum enjoyed a sumptuous tradition Burns Night supper at a near-by establishment, and Mr. John Pope is to be heartily congratulated upon organising this section of the day’s celebrations. The only slight problem of the day was that the section reserved for the Patriotic Forum party for the supper didn’t prove large enough, as there was a higher than anticipated attendance!

The Patriotic Forum will be staging a belated New Zealand Day celebration on Saturday 16th February. Assemble at "The George" in The Strand, London WC2R 1AP (opposite the Royal Courts of Justice) at approximately 13.00 hrs, from where - after a short convivial gathering – the party will be setting off to visit some near-by sites associated with the early colonisation of New Zealand, before finally adjourning to a hostelry with strong Antipodean connections. For more details, or to confirm your interest in attending, either e-mail: or 'phone: 07711188430.

The Patriotic Forum is planning a special celebration for “Brexit Day”, 29th March, although precise details are still to be finalised. It now seems more likely that this celebration will take place in London rather than in Brussels, but full details will of course be given in next month’s edition of the SCN.

On 6th April the Patriotic Forum will be joining forces with the Springbok Club in order to celebrate both van Riebeeck Day and the 100th anniversary of the birth of the Hon. Ian Douglas Smith. See the Springbok Club News section above for more details.

We have recently received the following message from Lizel Kachelhoffer, the daughter of the late and great Louise Joubert who founded and ran the SanWild Wildlife Sanctuary. Although many of the accounts of the work of this estimable organisation are by their very nature harrowing, we have even so been greatly encouraged to learn that Lizel is not only continuing with the excellent work of her Mother, but is indeed expanding upon it. We hope that supporters will be able to help as best they can. The message reads as follows :-

“Dearest SanWild friends,

”We are very proud to introduce to you our newest & finest SanWild Anti Poaching Rangers. They have all been highly trained, and have dedicated their lives to protect SanWild's wildlife. They have a passion for what they do, and their motivation is unbelievable!

”This unit has just completed their First Aid Training, and have each qualified and received their certificates, as well as a Medical aid kit, that they can carry with them while on patrol. We are very proud of each and every one of them.

”These are the most important people and K9's at SanWild! These are the people on the ground and the people that put their lives at risk each and every day! These are the people that protect those that cannot protect themselves, against the murderous greed of poachers, and kingpins out there. I can't thank these guys enough, for what they are doing, for the welfare of the animals at SanWild. These people are their guardian angels, their protectors.

“SanWild desperately needs your help, in ensuring that these guys have everything they need in order to do their job successfully - Suitable equipment is expensive. And their salaries are R5000 per month (+-$390). SanWild also provides all their food, accommodation, transport, diesel as well as clothing.

”It is a war out there, make no mistake! More so, than what one realizes! But we need to win it, and unfortunately this does not come cheap. We have limited resources for funding all of this on our own. We are trying to get our small private bush camp, “The Sticky Tongue”, up and running as quickly as we can. This will hopefully, help us in becoming self-sustainable, and will cover the overheads and paying for our CPU rangers. But until such time, I am pleading to each and every one, to please help us win this war, and fight for what is right!

”If there are companies, or individuals out there, that would like to sponsor a ranger every month, or just make a "once off" donation towards their food, equipment, salaries or clothing, please contact :

”I know, every second email or post one receives these days, is/are from organisations, asking for money, and it can be frustrating But this whole war of rhino poaching, everyone is fighting, is because of the greed of certain murderous human-beings. I personally feel that we, as a handful of caring individuals, owe it to these magnificent creatures, to help in every way we can to protect them.

”For so many years, my mom and the people/supporters at SanWild, fought for what is right for animals. It has been such a difficult road. It has been a roller coaster of emotions. So many tears, screams of anger, sweat, heartache as well as laughter and joy. The feeling of giving up was a daily battle. Never did I experience all of this so intensely, as the day poachers murdered Big Boy I truly believe, that this caused my Mum’s death. Why ?... because I was there on that day of the 23rd of June, when poachers murdered an entire family of rhinos (Audrey, Azi and the baby rhino I named after my Mum)! That helpless, disappointing, heart-wrenching feeling, makes the hate in one so intense!

“This is the day I realized, and ‘felt’ exactly what my Mum went through, the day she found out about the murder of Big Boy.

”I really pray, with all my heart, that one day all this will come to an end, and that we can all live in peace, as it is meant to be. But until such time, we need to stand together, fight and never give up!

”Thank you to each and everyone that supports us, we cannot do this without you.

”Kind regards
”Lizel Kachelhoffer

In the March 2018 Edition of the SCN we commented about how the “new” South Africa had been able to send the magnificent total of one competitor to compete at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in Korea. At this year’s World Alpine Ski-ing Championships at Áre in Sweden the “new” South Africa claims to have been able to match this phenomenally high total – though nothing seems to have been seen or heard of this competitor so far!

Many might think that South Africa is an unlikely country to be competing in Alpine Ski-ing events, but as we reminded people in the March 2010 Edition of the SCN, during the days of civilised rule in South Africa there were plans to develop a ski resort in Qwa Qwa on the Drakensberg Mountains close to the Lesotho (Basutoland) border. We also commented in this edition about the existence of a vibrant Springbok Ski Club during the 1970s, which was run by a most energetic and enthusiastic young woman who would always appear at club gatherings resplendent in her custom-made ski-jacket in patriotic Orange, White and Blue colours! Alas we never received any responses as a result of this mention regarding what had happened to the Springbok Ski Club or to the lovely lady who ran it, so we ask once again therefore whether anyone knows what became of this club and person?

Most readers will be aware of the draconian attempts by the ANC regime to expropriate (i.e steal) farm land legally owned by White farmers for their own nefarious requirements. Although there seems to be little that can be done about this given the current entrenched position of the ANC regime, a supporter from the United States has recently informed us of a web-site calling for public comments on this matter, so we therefore ask as many readers as possible to visit this site and to express their opposition to the theft which the ANC government is proposing. The web-site in question can be accessed at :-

Tomlinson's writings detailing his experiences as a member of the BSAP in Southern Rhodesia, where he rose from the rank of an ordinary trooper to retire as the commanding officer. It also includes the personal story of Majaqaba Ncube, a man who was enslaved by Lobengula when his entire village was massacred by the chief's soldiers. After he escaped, Lieut. Tomlinson saved him from certain death and gave him a job. They lost contact and were reunited after 45 years, when Majaqaba presented Lieut. Tomlinson with an earthenware jar.

Trish also writes romantic suspense and romantic comedy fiction.

Zimbabwe’s Stolen Property is a poignant novel by Cliff McIlwaine. This is a dark, painfully sombre book which will bring back dreadful memories to any one associated with Zimbabwe – Black or White – and its bitter past.

No.243 - Mrs. T.G. BOTHA of Durban

Mrs. T.G. Botha (alas with the passage of time we forget her christian name) lived in the Bellair suburb of Durban and worked in the city’s main Post Office. A chance remark which was once made when collecting some registered mail for Patriotic Press during the late 1980s revealed that she fully supported our own patriotic ideals and was indeed a member of the Conservative Party of S.A.. Alas her personal domestic situation precluded her from being active with either the C.P.of S.A. or with the Patriotic Forum, but she proved to be a most delightful lady who was always keen to help us at the Post Office, and indeed was once of great assistance when we encountered difficulty with one particular item of mail. It would certainly be most interesting to learn where she is now.

With New Zealand/Waitangi Day (6th February) just past, and with the Patriotic Forum’s belated New Zealand Day celebrations approaching, it has therefore been very appropriate that a supporter from the United States has recently informed us about a most interesting web-site relating to this day. This has proved to be a very neutral site which highlights the arguments on both sides of the debate about whether New Zealand’s national day should be called “New Zealand Day” or “Waitangi Day”, Some of the comments made be various contributors are very interesting and revealing, and the site can be accessed at :-

It was with great sadness that we recently learnt of the death of Mr. Michael “Mike” Moodie.

Although not South African, Mike Moodie was a good and long-standing British supporter of the White Man’s cause in southern Africa. He became aware of the Springbok Club during the late 1990s and thereafter proved a good and loyal member of the organisation. Very little was known about his early life, but he was evidently involved in a serious car accident during his youth when his spine was severely damaged and which left him with a pronounced stoop for the rest of his life – though this never stopped him from driving!

He moved from London to Dorset during the late-2000s to live with his widowed mother, but still stayed in good long-distance communication with the Springbok Club after moving there, and indeed continued to support the occasional activities which the organisation staged in the Wessex region. Contact with him suddenly ceased a few years ago however, and so the recent sad notification of his death undoubtedly explains the reason why.

Mike Moodie will always be remembered fondly, and our condolences are of course extended to all his relatives.
