The offer by United States President Donald Trump to purchase Greenland from Denmark surprised and puzzled a lot of people. There is however a lot of logic behind this attempted move, as Greenland (like Alaska to the west) forms a very strategic position guarding the whole of the North American continent – and Denmark, sadly, has been very remiss in carrying out its duties and responsibilities in this regard.
Although now alas little remembered, Denmark played a small but significant role in the great age of European colonisation during the 18th century. Denmark not only possessed the long-standing Viking-rooted colonies of Greenland and the Faroe Islands, but also claimed the islands of St.Thomas, St.John and St.Croix in the West Indies, where important supplies of sugar and other tropical produce were grown for European markets. In addition Denmark possessed five important fort enclaves along the Gold Coast and surrounding West African coastline, where slaves were obtained to work in its West Indian sugar plantations, and also claimed a number of similar small enclaves around the Indian coastline. It would appear, however, that the Danish people didn’t share the same degree of enthusiasm for the splendours of global Imperialism as most of the other Western European nations did, and as a result Denmark sold all of its West African and Indian enclaves to Britain during the 19th Century, and then finally in 1917 sold its three Caribbean islands to the United States, which then became the U.S.Virgin Islands.
This therefore only left Denmark with its long-standing colonies of Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Sadly, as the 20th Century progressed, Denmark’s interest in these two remaining colonies also faded, and as a result they became more and more neglected. Matters were made far worse of course by Denmark’s retrograde decision to join the EEC (now the EU) in 1974, and as a consequence of this damaging decision interest in her North Atlantic possessions declined even further, with increasing degrees of “Home Rule” being forced upon them which their low population levels couldn’t really cope with.
As Denmark has neglected Greenland so badly since the mistaken decision to join the EEC/EU, is it therefore any wonder that the current forward-looking U.S. administration should wish to take over control of this vast land for its own security reasons? It would be ideal of course if Dexit could follow Brexit, and that as a result Denmark could look afresh towards its remaining colonies (and perhaps even to revive interest in its earlier global possessions from bygone centuries?). If not, however, then perhaps the idea of the U.S. purchasing Greenland would be the best option.

SPRINGBOK CLUB NEWS
After an unfortunate two months enforced break, the Springbok Club will be resuming activities with a trip to an exciting festival due to take place at Chatham Dockyard in Kent during the afternoon of Sunday 22nd September. This festival, called “Salute to the Forties”, has become an annual event over recent years, and supporters who have attended in the past report that it proves to be a most enjoyable day out, re-living the spirit of national self-confidence and determination from the WWII wartime era. There is a quite high admission charge of £19.00 per head to attend this festival, but concession rates are available, and a reduced cost if tickets are bought in advance. Plans are still afoot to obtain another suitable venue whereat to stage the annual “Raising of the Flag” ceremony later this year, and fuller details will of course be given in future editions of the SCN.

PATRIOTIC FORUM NEWS
The Patriotic Forum will be staging its annual Canadian solidarity event a little later than normal this year, and this will take the form of a celebration of the 260th anniversary of the Battle of Quebec with a trip to Greenwich. The details of this event are as follows :-
Date: Sunday 15th September 2019
Rendezvous place : Alongside the Cutty Sark in Greenwich (towards the bow). Nearest station : DLR Cutty Sark.
Rendezvous time : 13.30 hrs for 14.00 hrs.
The day’s activities will consist of a visit to a near-by house which was once the home of Gen. James Wolfe, to be followed by a trip to the Painted Hall of the Old Royal Naval College at Greenwich. The day will then finish at a near-by hostelry where Mr. Gary Vincent will give an illustrated talk about the Battle of Quebec, and two members will give brief report-backs on a recent visit to Newfoundland and about the current situation in the Philippines.

The Patriotic Forum will be holding a special meeting in honour of the memory of the late, great Dennis Delderfield in October. The guest speaker at this event is hoped to be someone who knew Dennis Delderfield well, and who will give a talk under the theme of “Keep the United Kingdom United”, a subject which was always very close to Dennis’s heart. More details about this meeting will be given in next month’s edition of the SCN.

MESSAGE FROM THE NETWORK FOR ANIMALS ORGANISATION
We have recently received the following most harrowing message from the Network for Animals organisation, giving a yet further example of the cruel and uncivilised conditions which now pertain in “Zimbabwe”. It reads as follows :-
“In financially-ruined Zimbabwe, the donkeys of this once flourishing country are suffering almost unbelievable cruelty.
“On a recent visit to MARES, a donkey sanctuary in Bulawayo, our team found four abused creatures collapsed in their harnesses. The ‘owner’ was slashing one poor donkey with a machete (a long-bladed knife/axe). The donkey’s head was gushing with blood from deep wounds. He was so weak he could barely move, but the man didn’t care. He said he was using the donkey to plough a field; the donkey wasn’t working fast enough, so he was going to make the poor creature suffer.
“In a rage the man was hacking the donkey to death!
“The MARES donkey sanctuary is run by Claire Einhorn – a passionate and caring animal lover – who is saving as many of these gentle and loving animals as she possibly can. MARES arrived at the tragic scene in the nick of time and Claire immediately called police, who discovered the donkeys had been stolen, but by this time the crooks had run away.
“Our Network for Animals team helped rescue the donkeys, including the machete victim, whom we renamed Freddie. You will be pleased to know that Freddie is recovering from his wounds and has already found a new home.
“But there are thousands of other donkeys who suffer lives of hell in Zimbabwe. They are worked until they are too weak to move and then left to die.
“When they aren’t being hacked the donkeys are literally being worked to death.
“Donkeys like Merlin, who had been whipped so severely that he collapsed – his owner abandoned him on the side of the road and left him to die. We were shocked to discover that Merlin’s tail had been destroyed by the cart he was pulling. All the skin on his rear end had been worn away and he was bleeding heavily on his flanks.
“We rescued Merlin and provided medical help and food, the gentle creature is making a slow but steady recovery. And, a really nice touch, we’ve even created an artificial tail for him to swat flies away.
“There are 48 donkeys at MARES, many rescued from unspeakable cruelty by people who don’t understand that animals feel pain, just like you and NFA. Our team is helping MARES financially and by providing much-needed medicines. If you donate today, we can give even more assistance. ASHES CROWD REACTIONS
The reactions of England supporters to the appearances of Steve Smith, David Warner and Cameron Bancroft at matches in the current Ashes series have been unfortunate, though perhaps predictable. Smith, Warner and Bancroft were of course all found guilty of ball-tampering during the Third Test against South Africa (a country not particularly renowned for fairness in sport nowadays) at Cape Town in March 2018. All admitted their guilt, showed genuine remorse, and served lengthy bans as punishment. That should have been the end of the matter, but alas that doesn’t seem to be the case with many England supporters. The constant boo-ing of Steve Smith in particular – undoubtedly Australia’s greatest batsman since Sir Donald Bradman – certainly leaves a nasty taste in the mouth and can only be considered as extremely bad sportsmanship. Hopefully therefore it will all shortly cease.
These reactions should however be compared poignantly to the actions of the ground authorities at Old Trafford who ejected two Australia supporters who evidently shouted out derogative comments at Jofra Archer, the West Indian-born England fast-bowler, specifically questioning what passport he carried. Jofra Archer is unquestionably a great fast bowler, and appears also to be a very decent and affable person (as his actions in returning the beach-ball confirm!), but the fact remains that he is a West Indian (specifically a Barbadian) and not an Englishman, and that it is therefore immoral for the English authorities to “steal” him from the West Indies, particularly at a time when West Indian Cricket is going through the doldrums. There are many England supporters – as well as Australian supporters – who therefore question his right to play for England.

LUNACY IN THE “NEW” SOUTH AFRICA
Those with long memories may well remember a joke organisation which operated in South Africa shortly before the surrender of the country to the ANC terrorists called the AWB. All those in the know were fully aware that this absurd outfit had been deliberately established by the sell-out NP Government in order to divide and discredit authentic opposition to their treason plans – and they certainly did their job well, as through their pantomime antics and anti-English rhetoric they drove away English-speaking voters from the “No” camp in their tens-of-thousands at the time of the vital 1992 Referendum. That seemed to be the end of this phony outfit, and indeed the subsequent death of their leader, a clown-like character named Terre’Blanche, who was bludgeoned to death by two of his young Black farm-labourers after he refused to pay them what they were asking for performing sexual favours on him, proved to everyone just what an unsavoury organisation they actually were!
After all the exposures about their phony nature and the revelations of the perverted proclivities of their “great leader” one would have thought that this irrelevant outfit would never be heard of again – but no, for we have recently learnt that a small group of fools have sought to resurrect the AWB name (in Durban of all places!), in spite of the fact that the ANC terrorist regime has now been firmly entrenched in power for 25 years! By all accounts this lunatic grouping is led by a fantasist who styles himself a “General” - although searches of official records have shown that nobody of his name ever held such rank in either the SADF/SANDF or the SAP/SAPS. Quite clearly this man is delusional therefore, and is acting like a little schoolboy in the playground saying “Let’s play soldiers – I’ll be the general”! But this character seems to be not just a fantasist, but also a con-man, for evidently he has somehow managed to persuade a well-meaning but tragically naïve colleague to “loan” him his car, thus leaving the poor naïve fellow with no vehicle of his own!
We have considered it best not to name the two individuals involved in order to protect the poor naïve victim, but we hope that – despite all their incompetence – the “new” South African Police Service will shortly investigate the con-merchant concerned, and put him behind bars where he belongs!

As we observed in last month’s edition of the SCN, although we are basically very supportive of Mr.Boris Johnson’s new UK Government, we do however have a few worries and concerns. One of the most important of these involves his proposed amnesty for all illegal immigrants who have been in the UK for more than 15 years. WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?
No.250 - Ms. ALLISON BENNETT of Durban
The one-time Allison Bennett (alas we don’t know what surname she currently uses) was Durban-born and an exceptional beauty with a mischievous sense of humour, though alas she evidently had a very troubled childhood. She married Mike Bennett (see “Where are they now?” section of the April 2007 SCN) around 1980, and soon afterwards they moved to Ontario, Canada. As they couldn’t settle there and the marriage evidently hit problems they returned to South Africa a few years later, but alas their marriage problems continued and they divorced shortly thereafter. Allison was last seen with a soccer referee at a Natal Sunday League match around 1988, and it is believed that she married this referee. It would however be very interesting to learn what then became of her.

OBITUARY
LARS EDVARD KARNESTAM
It was with great shock and sadness that we recently learnt of the death of Lars Karnestam from skin cancer at the tragically early age of only 55. Lars Karnestam was a great Swedish patriot and a good friend of our movement. He was a founding member of the BSS (“Keep Sweden Swedish”) organisation in 1979 (see S.A.Patriot No.22), and was also a founding member of the Swedish Democrats in 1988, the political party which grew out of the BSS organisation, and which performed extremely well at the 2018 Swedish General Election, emerging in third place with 62 seats.
But Lars Karnestam was more than just a Swedish patriot, he was a Swedish Imperial patriot. He took great pride in Sweden’s expansionist Viking history, broadcasting regularly on the subject for Radio Ragnarok. More significantly, however, Lars studied Sweden’s colonial history during the glorious age of global European colonisation in great depth, and identified far more Swedish overseas colonies from over the years than is usually accepted – well into the teens in fact. In this regard Lars was strongly motivated by his great love for the United Kingdom and the British people, and by his admiration for the achievements of the British Empire. He visited Hong Kong in 1997 just prior to its sell-out to the Communist Chinese, more because of his determination to witness the manifestations of British Imperial life than by any desire to experience Chinese culture. His favourite drinks were also influenced by his affection for British colonialism, namely tea and Bombay Sapphire Gin – which of course features a picture of Queen Victoria on its label!
Lars also took a great interest in South Africa, visiting the country several times during the final decade of civilised rule there. His main motivation in this was again his admiration for the British Empire, as he recognized the fact that British-South Africans as well as Afrikaners would suffer terribly if the ANC terrorists gained power, so therefore wanted to do his best to help his fellow-Whites from both language groups. When he returned to Sweden he furthermore took a courageous direct action against the ANC office in Stockholm. Although from overseas, he soon realised that the absurd AWB outfit was completely phony (see article “Lunacy in the ‘new’ South Africa” above) and treated it with complete contempt – even though so many Afrikaners sadly failed to recognize this patently obvious fact. He spoke at meetings of the Patriotic Forum (mark 1) in Durban on two different occasions, and his talks about the BSS and Swedish-South African friendship received glowing accolades both times. He also spoke at a meeting of the then recently-founded Springbok Club in London during the late-1990s, and again his talk was very well received. Following this meeting he accepted the position as the Springbok Club’s Scandinavian co-ordinator, but alas his failing health meant that he was never really able to do justice to this position as was hoped.
Lars Karnestam will always be fondly remembered with great respect by our movement, and our love and admiration for the Swedish people and nation will always be remain as a result. His living memorial will undoubtedly be the phenomenal success of the Swedish Democrats party which he helped to found, and it is to be hoped that out of their growth a new generation of Swedes will emerge full of the same Imperial vision and friendship towards Britain as Lars always radiated. Our sincerest sympathies are expressed to his family and to all his colleagues.
