At the time of writing we have good information that Robert Mugabe will very shortly cease to hold power in "Zimbabwe". What happens in that beleaguered land after he departs is open to speculation - but it is very difficult to imagine that the situation will be any worse than it is at present!
Of course in current circumstances it is impossible to imagine that the country will revert to its original name of Rhodesia, but any sensible incoming administration is bound to allow the Rhodesian culture and ideals to be re-established, if only for the economic well-being of all inhabitants. Mugabe and his ZANU-PF regime may have thought that they destroyed the Rhodesian spirit for all time in 1980, but they failed completely. Organisations such as Rhodesians Worldwide, the Rhodesia Christian Group, the Rhodesian Army Association, the BSAP Association, the New Zealand-based Kamina Kawena organisation and the Flame Lily Foundation have constantly managed to keep [ex-]Rhodesians together and to keep the ideals of the country alive. Of special note in this regard is Richard Allport's "Rhodesian Government in Exile", which although only intended tongue-in-cheek has evidently recently caused consternation among the Mugabe regime!
If there seems light at the end of the tunnel as far as the Rhodesian cause is concerned, the same thing alas cannot be said about South Africa. Although the breakdown in law and order in South Africa is already far worse than that in "Zimbabwe", the situation undoubtedly has to become even nmore horrific before we can expect any form of overseas intervention to remove the ANC regime. South Africans must learn from their Rhodesian brothers and sisters however, and organise ever more effectively both internally and "in exile". Already UKkasie and the InterAfrikaanse Trust are doing excellent work among the Afrikaner Diaspora, with the Springbok Club doing likewise among British-southern Africans and their supporters around the world. Special mention should also be made of the Dorset South African Club and the Devon-based "Bottom Half" organisation, which in their own small ways are helping to keep the spirit and ideals of the 1820 Settlers alive. There needs to be more initiative for resistance within South Africa itself however, but here the more aggressive stance of Freedom Front Plus and the formation of the Livingstonians organisation and the English Cultural Front give great reason for hope.
It may still be quite some time before those southern Africans of both Afrikaans and British descent forced into exile or into internal servitude manage to regain their rightful places in the countries to which they belong, but that day WILL eventually come. When it does it will be those organisations and individuals who continued the struggle during the darkest days who will deserve the highest praise.

SPRINGBOK CLUB JUNE MEETING
The Springbok Club was most privileged to be addressed by Professor David Marsland, the Director of Research in the Department of Health and Social Care at Brunel University, last month. Speaking to a crowded meeting Professor Marsland gave a hard-hitting and inspiring talk under the title of "Fighting for Freedom - fighting tough", which was most warmly received by all in the packed hall. Professor Marsland outlined the main threats currently facing the freedom of the West, specifically emphasising the ongoing dangers posed by expansionist Islam. He demonstrated too that what he termed "home-grown cowardice" was an equally serious threat, and was particularly scathing of all those who opposed the War against Terrorism in Iraq for whatever reason.

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
Alas the recent pub-gathering of the Kent Branch of the Springbok Club to celebrate Waterloo Day did not turn out to be a big success, and the experiment of holding such activities during weekday afternoons will probably not be repeated.
If the latest Kent Branch event proved to be a disappointment, then the latest Northern Ireland Branch meeting proved an outstanding success. This meeting took the form of a "British Empire Commemoration" and was addressed by the Rev. Martyn Smyth BA, BD, MP (UUP, South Belfast). Speaking to a high-quality audience, the Rev. Martin Smyth emphasised the success of the British Empire in bringing Christian civilisation to previously troubled parts of the globe, and demonstrated that in spite of some failings the British Empire was still one of the greatest forces for good which the world has ever seen. Quoting extensively from Niall Ferguson's book "Empire", he ended with Rudyard Kipling's famous injunction "Take Up the White Man's Burden". Special congratulations are due to Pastor Nigel Owens, the Chairman of the Northern Ireland Branch of the Springbok Club, for organising such a magnificent event, and to his charming wife Gail for providing such superb refreshments.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB EVENTS
The Springbok Club will not be holding any specific event during July, but will be encouraging all members and supporters to support both the forthcoming UKkasiefees and the Dorset South African Club's summer braai (for more details about both these events see below).
In August the London and Kent Branches of the Springbok Club will be joining forces to hold a joint braai on the London/Kent border, and in September the London Branch is planning another river trip along the Thames from Richmond. Later on during the year the Springbok Club anticipates welcoming two further high-profile guest speakers. Fuller details of all these events will of course be included in future editions of the SCN.

CONSERVATIVE MONDAY CLUB MEETING
The Conservative Monday Club recently staged a most informative meeting addressed by Mr. John Wilkinson MP (Con., Ruislip) who spoke on the subject of Defence. Mr. Wilkinson gave an expert and very detailed account of his own priorities regarding defence spending in the present environment, and during a highly-informed question-and-answer session gave in-depth replies to many of the more important matters raised concerning Britain's current defence capabilities. The leadership of the Conservative Monday Club is to be congratulated upon staging such an important and educative meeting.

KWV UKKASIEFEES
Arrangements regarding this year's KWV UKkasiefees in London have altered somewhat since the June edition of the SCN was published. Although the special concert will still take place at the Royal Albert Hall on the evening of Saturday 10th July, the main festival itself will now take place at Zulu's Bar in Leytonstone High Road (very close to Leytonstone Underground Station - exit via Church Lane into Leytonstone High Road, and then turn right) from 8th to 11th July 2004, commencing each day at 11.00 hrs and finishing at 17.00 hrs. DORSET SOUTH AFRICAN CLUB SUMMER BRAAI
The Dorset South African Club will be holding their Summer Braai on Sunday 25th July, commencing at 10.00 hrs. It will be held at Anderwood near Burley in the New Forest - from either the A31 or A35 take the Burley turn-off, and once in Burley take the left turn past the pub (opposite the "Coven of Witches") and follow that road until the sign for Anderwood is reached, at which point the DSAC will have special boards giving directions to the site. All attendees are asked to bring their own food and utensils, and also any outdoor games which they may like to participate in. Readers will probably recall that after the FBS burnt a tableau representing an illegal squatters' caravan at last year's bonfire celebrations complaints were made by various busy-bodies and bleeding-heart liberals who claimed that it was offensive to the "travelling community". SOUTH AFRICAN VOLUNTEER FORCE
Sir,
When the Irish wanted independence, Britain stood by the Loyalists living there, and built Northern Ireland. For years Britain, Europe and in fact the whole world have stood by the partition of Ireland. So why, oh why, wasn't the same done in Africa? Why isn't there an English state in Africa protected by the Crown? Could it be said that the British rulers haven't done their duty for those who wave the Union Jack down in Africa. We shout God Save the Queen all day and night, but the UK Government doesn't seem to notice we exist.
This isn't justice, this isn't the carrying out of their duty as miniters of Her Majesty's government to protect her people. Why wasn't there a partition of what is now called Zimbabwe? The British government was quick to send troops into the Falkland Islands, which are sparsely populated. Many British troops died to keep the sovereignty and liberty of the British living there. Why is the world's attitude so different when it comes to Africa? So, why isn't the world interested in stopping crazed land reform? Why doesn't it stand for equality? Why won't it listen to requests for English self-determination in South Africa?
We have been, and are being, betrayed?

ROGUES GALLERY
Evidently Mr. Francis "Fruitcake" Andrew has been contacting as many people connected to the Springbok Club as possible trying to spread poison about the organisation. Happily, however, most people so contacted have completely ignored his deranged meanderings with the contempt which they deserve. Jordan-based Arabist "Fruitcake" Andrew was originally a member of the Springbok Club, but about a year ago he initiated an irrational hate campaign against the movement, sending a torrent of infantile, abusive and offensive e-mails to the organisation, many of them of a most childish lavatorial nature. As a result "Fruitcake" was expelled from the Springbok Club by a unanimous vote of the Executive Committee. Subsequently, however, he not only objected to this expulsion, but also hypocritically attacked the basic aims and objectives of the movement - thus leading all to wonder why he ever wanted to join in the first place! After an earlier account of "Fruitcake's" childish hate campaign in the SCN he threatened to sue us for libel after we termed him a "lunatic character", but predictably nothing ever resulted from this puerile threat. In view of his subsequent demented antics we therefore have no hesitation in repeating our assertion that he is a lunatic character, and remind everyone that he no longer has any connection to the Springbok Club whatsoever.

THE PLOT THINKENS (II)
Another somewhat more sinister rogue who has plagued us in the past who long-standing readers may recall is young Mr. Arthur Kemp.
Without going into intricate details, the history of our contact with this sinister figure is as follows. Kemp (in spite of his British surname he is actually German in ancestry - his father having Anglocized the name) was an early supporter of our movement when we were still based in South Africa itself during the early 1980s, and indeed wrote several times for the original S.A.Patriot under the pseudonym of Adrian Kotze. In those days he clearly gave the impression that he was a mainstream conservative like ourselves, and indeed was an active member of the Conservative Party of South Africa. He was also then most scathing against the more paranoid conspiracy-theorists who inhabited the fringes of South African politics, particularly those of an anti-Semitic nature, and like ourselves recognised that Israel was White South Africa's best overseas friend. During the late 1980s, however, we were warned by supporters in the Transvaal to be very wary of him as he was allegedly working for the South African security forces. Initially we dismissed this speculation, but our suspicions were heightened when he wrote a most strange book about the AWB outfit (or allegedly wrote, as we have heard several rumours from South Africa that it was actually written at least in collaboration with Jani Allen, with whom he established close contacts when working for "The Citizen" newspaper) which was published in 1990. This suspicious book gave much credibility to the joke AWB outfit, and exaggerated their size and influence out of all proportion. Subsequently, of course, the "boosted" AWB was used to demonise and discredit the "Vote No" campaign during the 1992 Constitutional Referendum. All contact from Kemp then ceased, but during the mid 1990s we heard that he had moved to the UK together with the well-known South African political commentator Cliff Saunders, though surprisingly he made no attempt to re-contact us. When we managed to contact him, however, he stated that he wanted nothing further to do with us as we had allegedly "changed our political views" - but as it was Kemp who was now spouting out all forms of conspiratorial anti-Semitic nonsense this was quite clearly the antithesis of the truth! In 2000, however, a report appeared in the Afrikaans Sunday newspaper "Rapport" exposing both Jani Allen and Cliff Saunders as being in the pay of the "new" South African security services, and in the March 2000 edition of the SCN we revealed the fact that Kemp was closely connected to both these two individuals. This resulted in a quite hysterical smear e-mail being circulated by Kemp attacking us - though more importantly one of our supporters informed us that this was actually "old news", as a report showing that Kemp was an informant for the National Intelligence Service appeared in the "Mail & Guardian" of February 18, 1997!
Shortly before this year's Euro elections a smear e-mail was circulated attacking the UKIP London mayoral candidate Frank Maloney for speaking to the Springbok Club, which contained 11 vile and easily provable lies about the current Chairman of the organisation. Fortunately this smear was so far "over the top" that nobody took it seriously, but it was positively identified as having originated with a leading member of the neo-fascist British National Party (BNP). More significantly, however, the phraseology of many of the attacks in this smear bore a very close resemblance to Kemp's hysterical smear e-mail of 2000. A report then appeared in "The Guardian" of June 10 revealing that Kemp was back in the UK, and that he was working here - surprise, surprise - for the BNP!
Could it be that just as Kemp was used in South Africa to boost the credibilty of the AWB bunch of clowns and thereby discredit the "Vote No" campaign during the 1992 Referendum, so now he is being used in the UK to boost the BNP fascists in order to damage the progress of the authentic patriotic UKIP? Whatever the case both young Mr. Kemp and the BNP should clearly be avoided like the plague!

Although copies of the SCN are circulated around the world, with a very high proportion going to South Africa itself, we know even so that many of our readers now live in Britain and have the vote in the UK. The forthcoming round of British elections are therefore of great importance to them, and we would encourage all who can to use their vote.
In spite of the fact that we are not by nature an overtly political movement, we have even so traditionally given our support to the respective Conservative parties in both South Africa and the UK (albeit that in South Africa the CP is now part of Freedom Front Plus.) Our natural instincts are of course still to support the British Conservative Party, but next Thursday's round of elections are far more complex than usual, and a more sophisticated view is therefore in order.
On the Euro-Election level we would argue that the most important signal to be sent is that Britain must withdraw from the inward-looking EU and resume her traditional position as a great global nation with strong links to the rest of the English-speaking world - the United States and the countries of the original, plus some newer, Commonwealth. The position of Michael Howard's CP, alas, seems very wishy-washy on this issue. Some have argued that the Labour Party should be supported because of Tony Blair's courageous leadership during the War against Terrorism in Iraq, but although this is true it should also be remembered that many within the Labour Party did not support Blair's patriotic stance on this issue, and furthermore his record on other matters - particularly concerning Europe itself - is lamentable. Others have suggested that UKIP should be supported, particularly in view of their recent rapid growth in support. There is certainly a lot of merit in this argument, as a strong UKIP showing would definitely send a strong "wake up signal" to the CP leadership. Furthermore, there has recently been some most worrying growth in support for the openly neo-fascist "British National Party", and we feel it essential that their poison should be eliminated as soon as possible. A strong showing by an authentic patriotic party such as UKIP would certainly seem to be one means of smashing the fascists. We can therefore sympathise greatly with those who advocate support for UKIP at the Euro-Elections. We shall say no more.
As far as the London Mayoral elections are concerned the position is a lot more straight forward. Mr. Frank Maloney, the UKIP candidate, has addressed both the London Swinton Circle and the Springbok Club, and greatly impressed everyone with the plans for London which he presented, his genuineness and his powerful determination. Furthermore, he showed great understanding of the problems currently plaguing South Africa, which he had encountered firsthand through the various boxing promotions which he has been involved with in the country, and indeed had developed a good friendship with the late, great, Maurice Owen whilst there, who of course was a strong supporter of the Springbok Club. In the London Mayoral Election voters will have both first and second choice votes. Alas Mr. Maloney seems unlikely to win this contest, so his votes could therefore be transferred to the official CP candidate as second choice, without conveying any practical disloyalty to the Party. We therefore have no hesitation in advocating first choice votes for Mr. Maloney, and second choice votes for Mr. Steve Norris.

SPRINGBOK CLUB EMPIRE DAY BUFFET
The Springbok Club was greatly honoured to be able to welcome Sir Robert "Bob" Peliza, the former Chief Minister of Gibraltar and Speaker of the Gibraltar Parliament, as their guest of honour for their annual Empire Day buffet last month. This turned out to be a highly successful and enjoyable event, which produced a packed function room - a considerable achievement in view of the fact that Sir Bob was a last minute replacement guest of honour, having originally been the planned guest speaker for later during the year.
Sir Bob gave a powerful and enlightening address, in which he detailed Gibraltar's history and how determined and co-ordinated resistance by the Gibraltarian people had managed to prevent attempts by various British governments to appease Spain regarding sovereignty of the Rock - something which proved inspirational to all in attendance. The Springbok Club was certainly most grateful to both Sir Bob and Lady Irma Peliza for the honour which their attendance gave to this event, and wishes them both every happiness for the future.

The Springbok Club will be holding a most interesting meeting later this month, which will be addressed by Professor David Marsland, the Director of Research in the Department of Health and Social Care at Brunel University. The details are as follows:-

Professor Marsland was a Classics Scholar at both Christ's College, Cambridge, and LSE, before moving to Brunel University where he was Senior Tutor in Sociology and Professor of Social Sciences before gaining his present position. He has published many books on social theory, social policy and the history of ideas, including "Neglect and Betrayal" (an exposure of social scientists' prejudice against defence of their own country) and "Welfare or Welfare State?" (an analysis of the debiliating effects of socialist welfare). in 1991 he was the first recipient of the Thatcher Award, presented to him by Margaret Thatcher for contributions to the study of freedom and state oppression. His talk will be entitled "Fighting for Freedom - fighting tough", in which he will explore the spirit and the practical measures required to defeat the enemies of freedom: Islamic terrorism; internationalist utopianism; Euro-treachery; and home-grown cowardice.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE EVENTS
The Rev. Martin Smyth was the guest speaker at last month's London Swinton Circle meeting, which proved to be a most interesting and successful event. In his talk he gave an overview of the current Northern Ireland and international situations, and argued that if the same determined action against Islamic terrorism in Afghanistan and Iraq had been taken against SF/IRA terrorism in Northern Ireland then the world would be a far better and safer place than it currently is.
The London Swinton Circle is also in the process of organising its annual summer buffet, at which they anticipate that a famous personality will be their guest speaker. Full details will be circulated as soon as they are finalised.

MORE JOY OVER ONE SINNER WHO REPENTETH ...
A quite surprising article appeared in the London "Sunday Telegraph" of May 16 concerning Helen Suzman, the erstwhile PFP MP for Houghton. Inter alia, it read as follows :-
"Helen Suzman, for years the lone anti-apartheid voice in the South African parliament, has turned her fire on the country's ANC government for being 'anti-White' and for abandoning the country's poorest Blacks. 'I had hoped for something much better,' said Mrs. Suzman, 86. 'The poor in this country have not benefited at all from the ANC. This government spends "like a drunken sailor". Instead of investing in projects to give people jobs, they spend millions buying weapons and private jets, and sending gifts to Haiti. Even though we didn't have a free press under apartheid, the government of that day seemed to be very much more accountable in Parliament'."
Helen Suzman is and always has been a very complex character. Although by far the most left-wing MP in the South African Parliament during the days of civilised rule, she actually represented one of the most affluent and wealthy South African constituencies. Even more surprising, perhaps, is the fact that although ideologically poles apart she evidently had great respect for Dr. Hendrick Verwoerd's integrity and demeanour - respect which on a personal level was apparently mutual.
Mrs. Suzman may have comprehended reality rather late in the day, but even so her awakening is most welcome. We wish her well.

James Sives was a Rhodesian of Scottish ancestry, who subsequently ran a company called "Capricorn Paints" with his brother at Pietersburg in the Far North Transvaal. He was also very active with the "Save Rhodesia Campaign", establishing the Pietersburg Branch of the movement again with his brother. His father is known to have died in his native Scotland a few years ago, but a number of former colleagues from the SRC are very keen to know where he himself is now based.

Sir,
Please identify what mysterious group of people you might be referring to with your references to 'whites'. Please tell me what the "white" language consists of for instance and which cultural affinities they might have. I find your jingo-style racism in fact, increasingly unacceptable. The vast majority of people in South Africa aren't "whites" and those people with ethnic affinities to the European continent, do not actually refer to themselves as whites at all. Why do you continue to use this truly denigrating, downright racist generic term which is used in exactly the same way by Mbeki and his cohorts to suppress the Afrikaner minority with?

OBITUARY
RONALD REAGAN
It was of course with great sadness that we learnt of the recent death of President Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan proved to be a veritable colossus not only on the American, but also on the world stage. A true hero of our times if ever there was one.
Ronald Reagan was elected US President at approximately the same time as S.A.Patriot magazine was initially founded. We immediately gave him our full backing (lampooning his predecessor Jimmy Carter in the process), and he didn't disappoint.
With full justification Ronald Reagan is credited with winning the Cold War and thereby bringing freedom and safety to millions. He also rescued the United States from the catharsis of surrender in Vietnam and a couple of generations of detrimental liberal/leftist administrations. His friendship with Margaret Thatcher was legendary, but what is probably not so widely appreciated is that he was by instinct a strong Anglophile. He had almost exclusively British ancestry, and took great pride in this fact.
When Britain's hour of need occurred in 1982 during the Falklands War he over-rode the "nominal liberal" in his administration, Jeane Kirkpatrick, and provided Britain with essential satellite tracking data and refuelling facilities. If there was one criticism of his actions then it must be his invasion of Grenada (a Commonwealth realm) without obtaining British support beforehand - but knowing the liberal control of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office at the time perhaps this was understandable!
Alas Rhodesia had already fallen before Ronald Reagan (and Margaret Thatcher) came to power, but undoubtedly the NP government of P.W. Botha in South Africa didn't take the fullest advantage of this natural friend in the White House during the 1980s.
A great man who without doubt changed the world for the better has now passed into history, but his legacy and memory lives on - and in the present US President he unquestionably has a worthy successor.

June 2004 edition
Although copies of the SCN are circulated around the world, with a very high proportion going to South Africa itself, we know even so that many of our readers now live in Britain and have the vote in the UK. The forthcoming round of British elections are therefore of great importance to them, and we would encourage all who can to use their vote.
In spite of the fact that we are not by nature an overtly political movement, we have even so traditionally given our support to the respective Conservative parties in both South Africa and the UK (albeit that in South Africa the CP is now part of Freedom Front Plus.) Our natural instincts are of course still to support the British Conservative Party, but next Thursday's round of elections are far more complex than usual, and a more sophisticated view is therefore in order.
On the Euro-Election level we would argue that the most important signal to be sent is that Britain must withdraw from the inward-looking EU and resume her traditional position as a great global nation with strong links to the rest of the English-speaking world - the United States and the countries of the original, plus some newer, Commonwealth. The position of Michael Howard's CP, alas, seems very wishy-washy on this issue. Some have argued that the Labour Party should be supported because of Tony Blair's courageous leadership during the War against Terrorism in Iraq, but although this is true it should also be remembered that many within the Labour Party did not support Blair's patriotic stance on this issue, and furthermore his record on other matters - particularly concerning Europe itself - is lamentable. Others have suggested that UKIP should be supported, particularly in view of their recent rapid growth in support. There is certainly a lot of merit in this argument, as a strong UKIP showing would definitely send a strong "wake up signal" to the CP leadership. Furthermore, there has recently been some most worrying growth in support for the openly neo-fascist "British National Party", and we feel it essential that their poison should be eliminated as soon as possible. A strong showing by an authentic patriotic party such as UKIP would certainly seem to be one means of smashing the fascists. We can therefore sympathise greatly with those who advocate support for UKIP at the Euro-Elections. We shall say no more.
As far as the London Mayoral elections are concerned the position is a lot more straight forward. Mr. Frank Maloney, the UKIP candidate, has addressed both the London Swinton Circle and the Springbok Club, and greatly impressed everyone with the plans for London which he presented, his genuineness and his powerful determination. Furthermore, he showed great understanding of the problems currently plaguing South Africa, which he had encountered firsthand through the various boxing promotions which he has been involved with in the country, and indeed had developed a good friendship with the late, great, Maurice Owen whilst there, who of course was a strong supporter of the Springbok Club. In the London Mayoral Election voters will have both first and second choice votes. Alas Mr. Maloney seems unlikely to win this contest, so his votes could therefore be transferred to the official CP candidate as second choice, without conveying any practical disloyalty to the Party. We therefore have no hesitation in advocating first choice votes for Mr. Maloney, and second choice votes for Mr. Steve Norris.

SPRINGBOK CLUB EMPIRE DAY BUFFET
The Springbok Club was greatly honoured to be able to welcome Sir Robert "Bob" Peliza, the former Chief Minister of Gibraltar and Speaker of the Gibraltar Parliament, as their guest of honour for their annual Empire Day buffet last month. This turned out to be a highly successful and enjoyable event, which produced a packed function room - a considerable achievement in view of the fact that Sir Bob was a last minute replacement guest of honour, having originally been the planned guest speaker for later during the year.
Sir Bob gave a powerful and enlightening address, in which he detailed Gibraltar's history and how determined and co-ordinated resistance by the Gibraltarian people had managed to prevent attempts by various British governments to appease Spain regarding sovereignty of the Rock - something which proved inspirational to all in attendance. The Springbok Club was certainly most grateful to both Sir Bob and Lady Irma Peliza for the honour which their attendance gave to this event, and wishes them both every happiness for the future.

MORE JOY OVER ONE SINNER WHO REPENTETH ...
A quite surprising article appeared in the London "Sunday Telegraph" of May 16 concerning Helen Suzman, the erstwhile PFP MP for Houghton. Inter alia, it read as follows :-
"Helen Suzman, for years the lone anti-apartheid voice in the South African parliament, has turned her fire on the country's ANC government for being 'anti-White' and for abandoning the country's poorest Blacks. 'I had hoped for something much better,' said Mrs. Suzman, 86. 'The poor in this country have not benefited at all from the ANC. This government spends "like a drunken sailor". Instead of investing in projects to give people jobs, they spend millions buying weapons and private jets, and sending gifts to Haiti. Even though we didn't have a free press under apartheid, the government of that day seemed to be very much more accountable in Parliament'."
Helen Suzman is and always has been a very complex character. Although by far the most left-wing MP in the South African Parliament during the days of civilised rule, she actually represented one of the most affluent and wealthy South African constituencies. Even more surprising, perhaps, is the fact that although ideologically poles apart she evidently had great respect for Dr. Hendrick Verwoerd's integrity and demeanour - respect which on a personal level was apparently mutual.
Mrs. Suzman may have comprehended reality rather late in the day, but even so her awakening is most welcome. We wish her well.

No.67 : Mr. JAMES SIVES of Pietersburg.
James Sives was a Rhodesian of Scottish ancestry, who subsequently ran a company called "Capricorn Paints" with his brother at Pietersburg in the Far North Transvaal. He was also very active with the "Save Rhodesia Campaign", establishing the Pietersburg Branch of the movement again with his brother. His father is known to have died in his native Scotland a few years ago, but a number of former colleagues from the SRC are very keen to know where he himself is now based.

Sir,
Please identify what mysterious group of people you might be referring to with your references to 'whites'. Please tell me what the "white" language consists of for instance and which cultural affinities they might have. I find your jingo-style racism in fact, increasingly unacceptable. The vast majority of people in South Africa aren't "whites" and those people with ethnic affinities to the European continent, do not actually refer to themselves as whites at all. Why do you continue to use this truly denigrating, downright racist generic term which is used in exactly the same way by Mbeki and his cohorts to suppress the Afrikaner minority with?

OBITUARY
RONALD REAGAN
It was of course with great sadness that we learnt of the recent death of President Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan proved to be a veritable colossus not only on the American, but also on the world stage. A true hero of our times if ever there was one.
Ronald Reagan was elected US President at approximately the same time as S.A.Patriot magazine was initially founded. We immediately gave him our full backing (lampooning his predecessor Jimmy Carter in the process), and he didn't disappoint.
With full justification Ronald Reagan is credited with winning the Cold War and thereby bringing freedom and safety to millions. He also rescued the United States from the catharsis of surrender in Vietnam and a couple of generations of detrimental liberal/leftist administrations. His friendship with Margaret Thatcher was legendary, but what is probably not so widely appreciated is that he was by instinct a strong Anglophile. He had almost exclusively British ancestry, and took great pride in this fact.
When Britain's hour of need occurred in 1982 during the Falklands War he over-rode the "nominal liberal" in his administration, Jeane Kirkpatrick, and provided Britain with essential satellite tracking data and refuelling facilities. If there was one criticism of his actions then it must be his invasion of Grenada (a Commonwealth realm) without obtaining British support beforehand - but knowing the liberal control of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office at the time perhaps this was understandable!
Alas Rhodesia had already fallen before Ronald Reagan (and Margaret Thatcher) came to power, but undoubtedly the NP government of P.W. Botha in South Africa didn't take the fullest advantage of this natural friend in the White House during the 1980s.
A great man who without doubt changed the world for the better has now passed into history, but his legacy and memory lives on - and in the present US President he unquestionably has a worthy successor.

At the time of the 1992 South African constitutional referendum the main argument (indeed seemingly the only argument) advanced in favour of voting for the sell-out of the country was that it would mean South Africa could return to international sport. We warned at the time that this would be a very short-term advantage as within a few years White South African sportsmen and sportswomen would have no country to play for.
This prediction has come true quicker than perhaps we thought. Draconian "quota" systems have meant that fewer and fewer qualified White sportsmen have been able to play in traditional White sports. Now comes news that the Springbok badge will shortly be banned from use by the South African rugby team, who were earlier given "special dispensation" to continue using this traditional South African symbol, but who must in future simply use the poofdish protea emblem. Those who voted "Yes" in 1992 simply for sporting reasons are therefore starting to look very very foolish. As far as we are concerned this should be regarded as good news however, for the Springbok badge can now become the sole property of the South African resistance movement.
Meanwhile in Zimbabwe practically all of the White players in the national cricket team have been suspended following a dispute over the political composition of the selection panel. These same players had previously been prepared to prostitute themselves by playing under the Marxist red star symbol of the ZANU-PF regime, yet once their own careers are threatened they suddenly try to make a principled stand. Once again therefore those who placed personal glory in front of principle have ended up with the worst of both worlds.
Now, in spite of all these problems effecting southern African sport, FIFA have decided to choose South Africa as the venue for the 2010 World Cup. Such a decision is surely foolhardy to the point of criminality. South Africa is now universally recognised as the crime capital of the world, HIV/AIDS is rampant, and the very infrastructure of the state collapses on a daily basis. By 2010 South Africa will undoubtedly be a third-world basket-case on the scale of all other sub-Saharan African countries. With 36 nations, mainly from the developed world, competing in the World Cup, all of them bringing large supporter-bases of fans with them, the prospect for 2010 can only be described as apocalyptic. Without doubt crime and mayhem will be beyond the control of the emasculated South African security forces, and will quickly grow out of control. There will be muggings, hotel robberies and even mass riots, and many visiting supporters are bound to die. FIFA should quickly reconsider their idiotic decision therefore. Morocco should not give up hope that the 2010 World Cup will eventually be theirs.

JOINT MEETING ADDRESSED BY PHILIP BENWELL MBE
The meeting addressed by Mr. Philip Benwell MBE of the Australian Monarchist League last month proved a great success. The committee room of the House of Lords where it was held overflowed with those who wished to hear him speak, and all were suitably impressed with what he had to say.
In his speech Mr. Benwell stated that the Crown of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland belongs not just to Britain, but to all the 15 Commonwealth realms. The Australian states are united "in one indissoluble Federal Commonwealth under the Crown of the United Kingdom", and Mr. Benwell believes that to subject the Queen and the Crown to an authority, such as the European Constitution, which is totally alien to the other realms, goes against the spirit and the intent of the Statute of Westminster of 1931. The Statute of Westminster specifies that the "British Commonwealth of Nations" is united by a common allegiance to the Crown, and in formally recognising the sovereignty and independence of those nations prohibits the British Parliament from legislating on any matter which will subject the Crown to any authority, save that of the people of the Commonwealth realms in their repective jurisdictions. In 1999 the people of Australia opted to retain their Constitutional Monarchy by an overwhelming majority. It would be totally unjust if, through actions of the British government in relation to the proposed European Constitution, the Crown we all share was undermined and the Australian Constitution accordingly weakened.

Sir Robert "Bob" Peliza was born and bred in Gibraltar, and served as a Major in the Royal Gibraltar Regiment. He was a founding member of the "Integration With Britain Party" which campaigned vigorously to strengthen Gibraltar's British connections and which gained power in 1969. Sir Robert held office as Chief Minister of Gibraltar from 1969 to 1972, and was subsequently elected Speaker of the Gibraltar Parliament. He was knighted for his services to Gibraltar during the 1980s.

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
The Chilterns Branch of the Springbok Club held a get-together last month which was attended by a small but enthusiastic group of supporters. The day finished off with a visit to the famous Hellfire Caves in West Wycombe, where the legendary 18th century "Hellfire Club" held some of their meetings.
The river trip along the Thames by the London (Capital) Branch of the Springbok Club was a far better attended event, and proved to be a most memorable experience. Departing from Richmond the journey took the party all the way to Westminster, where they then visited the famous Sherlock Holmes Pub near Charing Cross. Later on during the evening a group of members moved on to the Springbok Bar in Covent Garden where both the real South African and Rhodesian flags were proudly unfurled - much to the dismay of certain pro-ANC elements present!
The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club will be staging an informal pub-gathering to celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo at the King George V pub in Old Brompton, Gillingham, during the evening of Friday 18th June. Fuller details will be given in next month's SCN.
The Northern Ireland Branch of the Springbok Club have also finalised their next meeting for Saturday 26th June. It will be held at the Burnside Orange Hall in Co. Antrim, and the guest speaker will be the Rev. Martin Smyth MP (UUP, Belfast South). Again fuller details will be given in next month's SCN.

The Hon. Ian Douglas Smith, the former Rhodesian Prime Minister, made a trip to the UK earlier this month, when he visited both the Rhodesians Worldwide Kent Branch monthly braai at Chilham, and a special reception arranged in his honour by the Rhodesia Christian Group at the RAF Club in Piccadilly. Members of the Springbok Club were able to attend both these two events and managed to have good personal conversations with the great man. Mr. Smith's remarks, both in these personal conversations and when he addressed the full gatherings were inspirational, particularly his emphasis upon the enduring greatness of the British people, and how they should never lose faith in themselves. Our congratulations are extended both to the Kent Branch of Rhodesians Worldwide and to the Rhodesia Christian Group for organising two such magnificent events.

RHODESIAN SPIRIT
The Ocean Rowing Society arranged the Atlantic Rowing Regatta 2004, with 13 official teams rowing from Spain to Barbados. The key word here is official.
Two ex-Rhodesian rowers, Brett Sparrow and Scott Wonenberg, now living in the Canary Islands, got word of the regatta and decided they would participate. For that, they needed a boat for £25,000 and a permit from the regatta, another £8,000. For various reasons they didn't have the money, but to their great delight they were granted a sponsorship from Zimbabwe. They applied to the regatta and ordered the boat - but then things changed in Zimbabwe. Mugabe put a ban on foreign money and the government passed a law saying they could arrest anyone they even suspected of dealing in foreign currency. Only Zimbabwe dollars were to leave Zimbabwe, yet outside of Zimbabwe nobody wanted them. The rowing sponsorship therefore fell through and the boys had no boat.
The regatta started without our guys, but just as they were contemplating the recent turn of events an unbelievable sight unfolded before their eyes. A truck came by the house and unloaded a brand new ocean rowing boat right at their front yard! By some mistake, the order had been delivered without proper payment. Well, Brett and Scott didn't think twice. The regatta had already lasted for two days, but the guys ran to the shore, dropped the boat in the water, and off they were. Their boat "Against All Odds" took off with the speed of light as her highly-motivated crew rowed like hell.
Soon the poor Regatta organizers started to receive annoyed satellite phone calls from the "legal" rowers. Who were these guys, why didn't they have to pay the fee and - worse - they now had the nerve to row past everyone else! Yes, at the time of writing they are in fact targeting the official leading boat!

WINDS OF CHANGE

I am now staying permanent here in OZ after it took many months of deciding where I would like to settle. The area where I stay is very safe and I can sleep at night with open windows and no alarms needed. Big difference to Jo'burg isn't it!
Just shocking every time I visit South Africa and see how the local infrastructure is not maintained. The roads are a mess, the town centre looks like an African market with tons of vendors selling stuff next to the road. Hmmm, Africa to the Africans now!

THE CURSE OF SPRINGBOK
Readers will probably recall the name of Tommy Ryden, the "Planet Pluto"-type character from Sweden who was a close confident of the notorious ANC-aligned Arthur Kemp from South Africa. Both Ryden and young Mr. Kemp were instrumental in circulating a number of wicked lies and smears about the Chairman of the Springbok Club a few years ago, the most offensive of which was to claim that he was divorced (he is actually a widower, which makes this lie even more hurtful).
We have recently heard, however, that Mr. Ryden is himself now being sued for divorce by his wife, who has evidently become exasperated by his "Planet Pluto" antics. Now what is it that is said about those who live in glass houses?

At the time of the 1992 South African constitutional referendum the main argument (indeed seemingly the only argument) advanced in favour of voting for the sell-out of the country was that it would mean South Africa could return to international sport. We warned at the time that this would be a very short-term advantage as within a few years White South African sportsmen and sportswomen would have no country to play for.
This prediction has come true quicker than perhaps we thought. Draconian "quota" systems have meant that fewer and fewer qualified White sportsmen have been able to play in traditional White sports. Now comes news that the Springbok badge will shortly be banned from use by the South African rugby team, who were earlier given "special dispensation" to continue using this traditional South African symbol, but who must in future simply use the poofdish protea emblem. Those who voted "Yes" in 1992 simply for sporting reasons are therefore starting to look very very foolish. As far as we are concerned this should be regarded as good news however, for the Springbok badge can now become the sole property of the South African resistance movement.
Meanwhile in Zimbabwe practically all of the White players in the national cricket team have been suspended following a dispute over the political composition of the selection panel. These same players had previously been prepared to prostitute themselves by playing under the Marxist red star symbol of the ZANU-PF regime, yet once their own careers are threatened they suddenly try to make a principled stand. Once again therefore those who placed personal glory in front of principle have ended up with the worst of both worlds.
Now, in spite of all these problems effecting southern African sport, FIFA have decided to choose South Africa as the venue for the 2010 World Cup. Such a decision is surely foolhardy to the point of criminality. South Africa is now universally recognised as the crime capital of the world, HIV/AIDS is rampant, and the very infrastructure of the state collapses on a daily basis. By 2010 South Africa will undoubtedly be a third-world basket-case on the scale of all other sub-Saharan African countries. With 36 nations, mainly from the developed world, competing in the World Cup, all of them bringing large supporter-bases of fans with them, the prospect for 2010 can only be described as apocalyptic. Without doubt crime and mayhem will be beyond the control of the emasculated South African security forces, and will quickly grow out of control. There will be muggings, hotel robberies and even mass riots, and many visiting supporters are bound to die. FIFA should quickly reconsider their idiotic decision therefore. Morocco should not give up hope that the 2010 World Cup will eventually be theirs.

JOINT MEETING ADDRESSED BY PHILIP BENWELL MBE
The meeting addressed by Mr. Philip Benwell MBE of the Australian Monarchist League last month proved a great success. The committee room of the House of Lords where it was held overflowed with those who wished to hear him speak, and all were suitably impressed with what he had to say.
In his speech Mr. Benwell stated that the Crown of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland belongs not just to Britain, but to all the 15 Commonwealth realms. The Australian states are united "in one indissoluble Federal Commonwealth under the Crown of the United Kingdom", and Mr. Benwell believes that to subject the Queen and the Crown to an authority, such as the European Constitution, which is totally alien to the other realms, goes against the spirit and the intent of the Statute of Westminster of 1931. The Statute of Westminster specifies that the "British Commonwealth of Nations" is united by a common allegiance to the Crown, and in formally recognising the sovereignty and independence of those nations prohibits the British Parliament from legislating on any matter which will subject the Crown to any authority, save that of the people of the Commonwealth realms in their repective jurisdictions. In 1999 the people of Australia opted to retain their Constitutional Monarchy by an overwhelming majority. It would be totally unjust if, through actions of the British government in relation to the proposed European Constitution, the Crown we all share was undermined and the Australian Constitution accordingly weakened.

Sir Robert "Bob" Peliza was born and bred in Gibraltar, and served as a Major in the Royal Gibraltar Regiment. He was a founding member of the "Integration With Britain Party" which campaigned vigorously to strengthen Gibraltar's British connections and which gained power in 1969. Sir Robert held office as Chief Minister of Gibraltar from 1969 to 1972, and was subsequently elected Speaker of the Gibraltar Parliament. He was knighted for his services to Gibraltar during the 1980s.

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
The Chilterns Branch of the Springbok Club held a get-together last month which was attended by a small but enthusiastic group of supporters. The day finished off with a visit to the famous Hellfire Caves in West Wycombe, where the legendary 18th century "Hellfire Club" held some of their meetings.
The river trip along the Thames by the London (Capital) Branch of the Springbok Club was a far better attended event, and proved to be a most memorable experience. Departing from Richmond the journey took the party all the way to Westminster, where they then visited the famous Sherlock Holmes Pub near Charing Cross. Later on during the evening a group of members moved on to the Springbok Bar in Covent Garden where both the real South African and Rhodesian flags were proudly unfurled - much to the dismay of certain pro-ANC elements present!
The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club will be staging an informal pub-gathering to celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo at the King George V pub in Old Brompton, Gillingham, during the evening of Friday 18th June. Fuller details will be given in next month's SCN.
The Northern Ireland Branch of the Springbok Club have also finalised their next meeting for Saturday 26th June. It will be held at the Burnside Orange Hall in Co. Antrim, and the guest speaker will be the Rev. Martin Smyth MP (UUP, Belfast South). Again fuller details will be given in next month's SCN.

The Hon. Ian Douglas Smith, the former Rhodesian Prime Minister, made a trip to the UK earlier this month, when he visited both the Rhodesians Worldwide Kent Branch monthly braai at Chilham, and a special reception arranged in his honour by the Rhodesia Christian Group at the RAF Club in Piccadilly. Members of the Springbok Club were able to attend both these two events and managed to have good personal conversations with the great man. Mr. Smith's remarks, both in these personal conversations and when he addressed the full gatherings were inspirational, particularly his emphasis upon the enduring greatness of the British people, and how they should never lose faith in themselves. Our congratulations are extended both to the Kent Branch of Rhodesians Worldwide and to the Rhodesia Christian Group for organising two such magnificent events.

WINDS OF CHANGE
Sir,
I am now staying permanent here in OZ after it took many months of deciding where I would like to settle. The area where I stay is very safe and I can sleep at night with open windows and no alarms needed. Big difference to Jo'burg isn't it!
Just shocking every time I visit South Africa and see how the local infrastructure is not maintained. The roads are a mess, the town centre looks like an African market with tons of vendors selling stuff next to the road. Hmmm, Africa to the Africans now!

THE CURSE OF SPRINGBOK
Readers will probably recall the name of Tommy Ryden, the "Planet Pluto"-type character from Sweden who was a close confident of the notorious ANC-aligned Arthur Kemp from South Africa. Both Ryden and young Mr. Kemp were instrumental in circulating a number of wicked lies and smears about the Chairman of the Springbok Club a few years ago, the most offensive of which was to claim that he was divorced (he is actually a widower, which makes this lie even more hurtful).
We have recently heard, however, that Mr. Ryden is himself now being sued for divorce by his wife, who has evidently become exasperated by his "Planet Pluto" antics. Now what is it that is said about those who live in glass houses?

When news first came of the recent terrorist atrocities in Madrid it was quite natural to assume that they were the action of ETA. The subsequent revelation that they were actually the work of al-Qa'eda may at first have seemed strange - until it is remembered that of all the Western nations contributing forces to the War against Terrorism in Iraq, Spain was the country which demonstrated the most noticeable domestic opposition.
If there is one thing which our experiences on the African continent have shown us it is that non-Whites always tend to admire strength, and always tend to despise weakness. It was for this reason that al-Qa'eda undoubtedly chose Spain as the West's "weakest link" - and the subsequent Spanish general election result proved they were completely correct in so doing! The election of the weak-willed and internationalist Spanish Socialist Party will therefore for long be a terrible stain on the reputation of the Spanish nation and people. It was a victory for terrorism. It was a victory for appeasement.
Of course this clear involvement of al-Qa'eda terrorists in support of the former Ba'athist regime in Iraq gives a lie to all those naive fools who have been trying to claim that there was no connection between these two organisations. Al-Qa'eda and Saddam Hussein's Iraq were inextricably linked - as is further being proved by the on-going campaign of al-Qa'eda-orchestrated terror now taking place in Iraq itself.
The current climate will prove a very testing time for Pres. George W. Bush and other leaders of the West, but we hope and believe that they will remain resolute and ruthless in confronting the evils of fundamentalist Islamic terror, and will realise that the West must retain an indefinite presence in Iraq. The showing of such strength will not increase the possiblity of further Madrid-type outrages. It will diminish them.

SPRINGBOK CLUB MARCH MEETING
The Springbok Club was most honoured to welcome Dr. Philip du Toit as their guest speaker in March. Dr. du Toit is an attorney who practises in Pretoria, and who shot to fame earlier this year when his book "The Great South African Land Scandal", which chronicles the Zimbabwe-style farm seizures and intimidation campaign in South Africa, was published. In a very well-received, though at times quite chilling speech, Dr. du Toit detailed the crisis which was currently engulfing South African rural areas, caused both by the illegal ANC-backed land "redistribution" claims and by the horrific ongoing terror attacks against the White farming community. He also told of the success which the book had obtained in South Africa by alerting people to what was really happening in the rural areas, and how the ANC regime was trying both to discredit and suppress it.

PHILIP BENWELL MEETING
Mr. Philip Benwell MBE of the Australian Constitutional Monarchy League will be addressing a meeting to be hosted by Lord Molyneaux of Killead at the House of Lords on 21st April, when he will be speaking on the issue of the sovereignty of the Commonwealth Realms under the proposed "Constitution of Europe".
Unfortunately all tickets for this event have now been allocated, but a full report will be appearing in next month's SCN.

SPRINGBOK CLUB NORTHERN IRELAND BRANCH INAUGURAL MEETING
An immensely successful inaugural meeting of the Northern Ireland Branch of the Springbok Club was held on Saturday 27th March 2004, at Burnside Orange Hall.
Nigel Owens BA(Hons), Chairman of the Northern Ireland Branch, delivered a short speech entitled "The Worldwide Battle for True Conservatism", the highlights of which were as follows :-
It is important for us to realise that the battle for true conservatism is not "lost" - it is "being waged".
In the words of the Rt. Hon. Ian Douglas Smith (Prime Minister of Rhodesia) when he issued the Unilateral Declaration of Independence : "We...have rejected the doctrinaire philosophy of appeasement and surrender. The decision which we have taken today is a refusal...to sell (our) birth-right. We have struck a blow for the preservation of justice, civilisation and Christianity. God bless you all." This is the "mission statement" of the N.I. Springbok Club.
Some encouragements and victories include :-
a] overthrow of Saddam Hussein in Iraq and the Taliban regime in Afghanisatan.
b] the groundswell of monarchist sentiment created by the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations and the aftermath of the death of our Queen Mother (the last Empress of India).
c] support for a Romanov restoration in Russia is growing, the renaming of Leningrad etc.
d] growth of African conservative parties such as the MDC, Inkarta Freedom Party, Freedom Front Plus and the South African Christian Democratic Party.
e] strong stand taken by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and the Likud Party, and by President Bush of the USA in the face of Islamic and Arab terrorism.
f] results of the Swedish and Gibraltar referendums.
g] recent steps taken by the Dutch Government to regain control of their asylum/immigration situation.
h] results of the recent Ulster Assembly election - we congratulate all of the anti-agreement MLAs.
Still a lot of work to do however :-
a] in this land, the Labour government is still as entrenched as ever.
b] prospect of a Kerry presidency in the US looms threateningly on the horizon (i.e. 'another Kennedy'). Pray that George Bush wins.
c] international opposition to Mugabe - whilst finally in existence - lacks real teeth. During WWII, Rhodesia committed more servicemen/women per capita to defend our country than any other British dominion. Our debt to Rhodesia is one of blood - we owe them for this blood debit. When we were facing up to the stark prospect of national extinction at the hands of the Nazis and our necks were on the line, Rhodesia was there for us. Now, we need to be there for them. This fact alone is justification enough for British military intervention in modern day "Zimbabwe".
d] world continues largely to ignore the plight of South Africa and the injustices there.
e] our government has now gone soft on Libya, yet is becoming increasingly critical of Israel.
f] the presence of a large number of unacceptable MPs like Jenny Tonge, John McDonnell, George Galloway and Claire Short in our parliament.
CONCLUSION
We will win, that much is sure. How can I be so certain? It is simple - we will win because we are right (this is something which no one else has on their side). The truth will always overcome falsehood, good will always overcome evil - that which is right will always overcome that which is wrong. One is of God and the other is of Satan. We must take the view of Ian Douglas Smith's Unilateral Declaration of Independence when it said : "we the Government of Rhodesia, in humble submission to Almighty God who controls the destinies of nations...earnestly praying that we and the people of Rhodesia will not be hindered in our determination to continue exercising our undoubted right to demonstrate the same loyalty and devotion"
Like the settlers at Blood River, we on the right are living in "a day of trouble". Like the settlers at Blood River, there is only one way out - we need to seek the Lord and look to Him for deliverance. It's time, once more, to "circle the wagons". Do this, and then the victory will come - and never forget, our's is nothing less than a holy cause.
Messages of support were received and read out from the Chairman and the Branch Development Officer of the Springbok Club, as well as from representatives of the London, Kent and Chilterns branches, which were all well-received by the enthusiastic audience. Branch office holders for the forthcoming year were agreed (with Nigel Owens remaining as Chairman/Secretary) and a number of other decisions concerning the development of the branch were taken. The meeting ended with the singing of the National Anthem.

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
The Chilterns Branch of the Springbok Club will shortly be holding an informal get-together, the details of which are as follows :-
Date : Saturday 17th April
Time : Assemble from approximately 14.30 onwards
Venue : "The Bell" (the main bar), Frogmoor, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. (This venue is in the centre of High Wycombe, approximately 10 minutes walk from the railway station)
Later during the afternoon there will be a trip to near-by West Wycombe Park, the "Hellfire Cave" and West Wycombe village, all of which are National Trust properties.

River trip details : The trip will be from Richmond to Westminster, and will commence at 16.00 hrs. The cost will be £7.00 per head (£10.00 return), though a group discount will be available for a party of 20 or more.

The London Swinton Circle held a most interesting meeting in March which was addressed by John and Laura Midgley of the Campaign Against Political Correctness. In a most enthralling presentation they not only detailed some of the worst examples of "political correctness" which were plaguing the nation, but also demonstrated how it could be, and was being counteracted.

No.65 : Mr. ARTHUR MORRIS
Although being born and bred in York, Arthur Morris was to prove himself a great South African patriot. Residing in Durban, he became active with the Civic Action League (a local voters rights pressure group) eventually becoming chairman of the organisation. Once elected to this position he was prepared to co-operate closely with other patriotic movements in the area, such as the Patriotic Forum and Action White Natal, and was eventually elected a Durban City Councillor under the CAL banner in 1988. He proved to be a highly efficient and popular Councillor, and was always well known and well remembered for his jolly and witty sense of humour. A number of former friends would like to re-contact him.

The Foreign Secretary's criticism of Israeli action against the Palestinian terrorist leadership is misconceived. Anyone who takes up arms against a democratic state should expect to suffer the full force of justified military resistance.
With the elimination of Yassin, the Israelis have set a positive example - as often before - for the Free World. If we are to defeat Islamist terrorists, we shall need to act ruthlessly against our enemies, ignore the mendacious bleating of anti-American, anti-capitalist and anti-semitic "human rights" campaigners, and stand four-square with our friends - not least the USA and Israel.

BLOOD MONEY
Sir,
I would just like to comment about the "farm-murders" (and other horrendous crimes) in South Africa. The first problem that we have in terms of crime is that the government fails to deter criminals from doing their foul deeds. Our judicial system is pathetic (one in 6 cases end up in conviction, if that) and the police service (which used to be a police FORCE) is pretty much useless in apprehending these criminals.
The other problem that we're having is this: government benefits financially from crime. All expenses towards self-protection and preservation comes from "after-tax" income for the man in the street. The government "pockets" 14% Value Added Tax on each and every Rand spent. Let me give you an interesting example: A car thieve steals a R300,000.00 BMW and delivers it to the nearest chop-shop. For his trouble he receives between R10,000.00 to R15,000.00. The owner of the car claims against his short term insurance, receives a cheque for the book-value of the car, and buys another one for R300,000.00. This transaction nets R42,000.00 in VAT for the government (as a direct result of a criminal activity).
We have been busy for the past 24 months to prepare a constitutional court case in order to determine whether this income, which is not only immoral, is unconstitutional. Also, from every victim of crime that dies as a result of the criminal action, the government collects Estate Duty and Death Taxes. The question here is: What was the government's income in Estate Duty from the estates of +/- 1600 murdered farmers (as a direct result of crime)?

KERRY VIRUS
Sir,
Senator John Kerry, the Democrat candidate for the American presidency, recently showed himself to be little more than yet another Kennedy backed wannabe.
When pitching for the gullible votes of Irish Americans his comments about Northern Ireland and the DUP were nothing short of immoral and disgusting.
His pathetic demands that the armed Marxist terrorists of the IRA be allowed into government reminds us all of the kind of nonsense spoken repeatedly by people of Kerry's ilk. You could just imagine someone of the calibre of Ted Kennedy, Michael Dukakis, Jesse Jackson, Bill Clinton, Al Gore and good old JFK himself coming out with drivel like this.
Kerry remarked that he would put the Northern Ireland situation high on his agenda if he is elected President. Comments such as this should send a shiver down every conservative patriot's neck.
President Bush, on the other hand, has increasingly been coming round to the anti-agreement unionist perspective. Only Bush can stop Kerry - pray that Bush wins.

Mr. NICK MAINE
It was with much sadness that we recently learnt that the great Australian patriotic activist, Mr. Nick Maine, had decided to retire from active politics. Mr. Maine is now 82 years of age and has been suffering from depression for some time, but even so this proved very unhappy news for us.
We have been in close and mutually-beneficial liaison with Nick for over two decades - way back to the days when our movement was still based in South Africa itself. Throughout this period Nick's dedication to the cause of his kith and kin around the world never faultered, especially concerning those from southern Africa. In the domestic Australian context he was an energetic campaigner both for the Monarchy and for a halt to "third world" immigration. On both these fronts he of course witnessed great triumphs over the past few years - which makes his depression even more saddening.
We wish Nick a happy and peaceful retirement from political activism, but are confident that a new generation of Australian patriots are ready to take up his baton and to follow his example.

If there is one thing which our experiences on the African continent have shown us it is that non-Whites always tend to admire strength, and always tend to despise weakness. It was for this reason that al-Qa'eda undoubtedly chose Spain as the West's "weakest link" - and the subsequent Spanish general election result proved they were completely correct in so doing! The election of the weak-willed and internationalist Spanish Socialist Party will therefore for long be a terrible stain on the reputation of the Spanish nation and people. It was a victory for terrorism. It was a victory for appeasement.
Of course this clear involvement of al-Qa'eda terrorists in support of the former Ba'athist regime in Iraq gives a lie to all those naive fools who have been trying to claim that there was no connection between these two organisations. Al-Qa'eda and Saddam Hussein's Iraq were inextricably linked - as is further being proved by the on-going campaign of al-Qa'eda-orchestrated terror now taking place in Iraq itself.
The current climate will prove a very testing time for Pres. George W. Bush and other leaders of the West, but we hope and believe that they will remain resolute and ruthless in confronting the evils of fundamentalist Islamic terror, and will realise that the West must retain an indefinite presence in Iraq. The showing of such strength will not increase the possiblity of further Madrid-type outrages. It will diminish them.

SPRINGBOK CLUB MARCH MEETING
The Springbok Club was most honoured to welcome Dr. Philip du Toit as their guest speaker in March. Dr. du Toit is an attorney who practises in Pretoria, and who shot to fame earlier this year when his book "The Great South African Land Scandal", which chronicles the Zimbabwe-style farm seizures and intimidation campaign in South Africa, was published. In a very well-received, though at times quite chilling speech, Dr. du Toit detailed the crisis which was currently engulfing South African rural areas, caused both by the illegal ANC-backed land "redistribution" claims and by the horrific ongoing terror attacks against the White farming community. He also told of the success which the book had obtained in South Africa by alerting people to what was really happening in the rural areas, and how the ANC regime was trying both to discredit and suppress it.

PHILIP BENWELL MEETING
Mr. Philip Benwell MBE of the Australian Constitutional Monarchy League will be addressing a meeting to be hosted by Lord Molyneaux of Killead at the House of Lords on 21st April, when he will be speaking on the issue of the sovereignty of the Commonwealth Realms under the proposed "Constitution of Europe".
Unfortunately all tickets for this event have now been allocated, but a full report will be appearing in next month's SCN.

SPRINGBOK CLUB NORTHERN IRELAND BRANCH INAUGURAL MEETING
An immensely successful inaugural meeting of the Northern Ireland Branch of the Springbok Club was held on Saturday 27th March 2004, at Burnside Orange Hall.
Nigel Owens BA(Hons), Chairman of the Northern Ireland Branch, delivered a short speech entitled "The Worldwide Battle for True Conservatism", the highlights of which were as follows :-
It is important for us to realise that the battle for true conservatism is not "lost" - it is "being waged".
In the words of the Rt. Hon. Ian Douglas Smith (Prime Minister of Rhodesia) when he issued the Unilateral Declaration of Independence : "We...have rejected the doctrinaire philosophy of appeasement and surrender. The decision which we have taken today is a refusal...to sell (our) birth-right. We have struck a blow for the preservation of justice, civilisation and Christianity. God bless you all." This is the "mission statement" of the N.I. Springbok Club.
Some encouragements and victories include :-
a] overthrow of Saddam Hussein in Iraq and the Taliban regime in Afghanisatan.
b] the groundswell of monarchist sentiment created by the Queen's Golden Jubilee celebrations and the aftermath of the death of our Queen Mother (the last Empress of India).
c] support for a Romanov restoration in Russia is growing, the renaming of Leningrad etc.
d] growth of African conservative parties such as the MDC, Inkarta Freedom Party, Freedom Front Plus and the South African Christian Democratic Party.
e] strong stand taken by Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and the Likud Party, and by President Bush of the USA in the face of Islamic and Arab terrorism.
f] results of the Swedish and Gibraltar referendums.
g] recent steps taken by the Dutch Government to regain control of their asylum/immigration situation.
h] results of the recent Ulster Assembly election - we congratulate all of the anti-agreement MLAs.
Still a lot of work to do however :-
a] in this land, the Labour government is still as entrenched as ever.
b] prospect of a Kerry presidency in the US looms threateningly on the horizon (i.e. 'another Kennedy'). Pray that George Bush wins.
c] international opposition to Mugabe - whilst finally in existence - lacks real teeth. During WWII, Rhodesia committed more servicemen/women per capita to defend our country than any other British dominion. Our debt to Rhodesia is one of blood - we owe them for this blood debit. When we were facing up to the stark prospect of national extinction at the hands of the Nazis and our necks were on the line, Rhodesia was there for us. Now, we need to be there for them. This fact alone is justification enough for British military intervention in modern day "Zimbabwe".
d] world continues largely to ignore the plight of South Africa and the injustices there.
e] our government has now gone soft on Libya, yet is becoming increasingly critical of Israel.
f] the presence of a large number of unacceptable MPs like Jenny Tonge, John McDonnell, George Galloway and Claire Short in our parliament.
CONCLUSION
We will win, that much is sure. How can I be so certain? It is simple - we will win because we are right (this is something which no one else has on their side). The truth will always overcome falsehood, good will always overcome evil - that which is right will always overcome that which is wrong. One is of God and the other is of Satan. We must take the view of Ian Douglas Smith's Unilateral Declaration of Independence when it said : "we the Government of Rhodesia, in humble submission to Almighty God who controls the destinies of nations...earnestly praying that we and the people of Rhodesia will not be hindered in our determination to continue exercising our undoubted right to demonstrate the same loyalty and devotion"
Like the settlers at Blood River, we on the right are living in "a day of trouble". Like the settlers at Blood River, there is only one way out - we need to seek the Lord and look to Him for deliverance. It's time, once more, to "circle the wagons". Do this, and then the victory will come - and never forget, our's is nothing less than a holy cause.
Messages of support were received and read out from the Chairman and the Branch Development Officer of the Springbok Club, as well as from representatives of the London, Kent and Chilterns branches, which were all well-received by the enthusiastic audience. Branch office holders for the forthcoming year were agreed (with Nigel Owens remaining as Chairman/Secretary) and a number of other decisions concerning the development of the branch were taken. The meeting ended with the singing of the National Anthem.

The Chilterns Branch of the Springbok Club will shortly be holding an informal get-together, the details of which are as follows :-

Time : Assemble from approximately 14.30 onwards
Venue : "The Bell" (the main bar), Frogmoor, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. (This venue is in the centre of High Wycombe, approximately 10 minutes walk from the railway station)
Later during the afternoon there will be a trip to near-by West Wycombe Park, the "Hellfire Cave" and West Wycombe village, all of which are National Trust properties.

No.65 : Mr. ARTHUR MORRIS
Although being born and bred in York, Arthur Morris was to prove himself a great South African patriot. Residing in Durban, he became active with the Civic Action League (a local voters rights pressure group) eventually becoming chairman of the organisation. Once elected to this position he was prepared to co-operate closely with other patriotic movements in the area, such as the Patriotic Forum and Action White Natal, and was eventually elected a Durban City Councillor under the CAL banner in 1988. He proved to be a highly efficient and popular Councillor, and was always well known and well remembered for his jolly and witty sense of humour. A number of former friends would like to re-contact him.

The Foreign Secretary's criticism of Israeli action against the Palestinian terrorist leadership is misconceived. Anyone who takes up arms against a democratic state should expect to suffer the full force of justified military resistance.
With the elimination of Yassin, the Israelis have set a positive example - as often before - for the Free World. If we are to defeat Islamist terrorists, we shall need to act ruthlessly against our enemies, ignore the mendacious bleating of anti-American, anti-capitalist and anti-semitic "human rights" campaigners, and stand four-square with our friends - not least the USA and Israel.

BLOOD MONEY
Sir,
I would just like to comment about the "farm-murders" (and other horrendous crimes) in South Africa. The first problem that we have in terms of crime is that the government fails to deter criminals from doing their foul deeds. Our judicial system is pathetic (one in 6 cases end up in conviction, if that) and the police service (which used to be a police FORCE) is pretty much useless in apprehending these criminals.
The other problem that we're having is this: government benefits financially from crime. All expenses towards self-protection and preservation comes from "after-tax" income for the man in the street. The government "pockets" 14% Value Added Tax on each and every Rand spent. Let me give you an interesting example: A car thieve steals a R300,000.00 BMW and delivers it to the nearest chop-shop. For his trouble he receives between R10,000.00 to R15,000.00. The owner of the car claims against his short term insurance, receives a cheque for the book-value of the car, and buys another one for R300,000.00. This transaction nets R42,000.00 in VAT for the government (as a direct result of a criminal activity).
We have been busy for the past 24 months to prepare a constitutional court case in order to determine whether this income, which is not only immoral, is unconstitutional. Also, from every victim of crime that dies as a result of the criminal action, the government collects Estate Duty and Death Taxes. The question here is: What was the government's income in Estate Duty from the estates of +/- 1600 murdered farmers (as a direct result of crime)?

KERRY VIRUS
Sir,
Senator John Kerry, the Democrat candidate for the American presidency, recently showed himself to be little more than yet another Kennedy backed wannabe.
When pitching for the gullible votes of Irish Americans his comments about Northern Ireland and the DUP were nothing short of immoral and disgusting.
His pathetic demands that the armed Marxist terrorists of the IRA be allowed into government reminds us all of the kind of nonsense spoken repeatedly by people of Kerry's ilk. You could just imagine someone of the calibre of Ted Kennedy, Michael Dukakis, Jesse Jackson, Bill Clinton, Al Gore and good old JFK himself coming out with drivel like this.
Kerry remarked that he would put the Northern Ireland situation high on his agenda if he is elected President. Comments such as this should send a shiver down every conservative patriot's neck.
President Bush, on the other hand, has increasingly been coming round to the anti-agreement unionist perspective. Only Bush can stop Kerry - pray that Bush wins.

Mr. NICK MAINE
It was with much sadness that we recently learnt that the great Australian patriotic activist, Mr. Nick Maine, had decided to retire from active politics. Mr. Maine is now 82 years of age and has been suffering from depression for some time, but even so this proved very unhappy news for us.
We have been in close and mutually-beneficial liaison with Nick for over two decades - way back to the days when our movement was still based in South Africa itself. Throughout this period Nick's dedication to the cause of his kith and kin around the world never faultered, especially concerning those from southern Africa. In the domestic Australian context he was an energetic campaigner both for the Monarchy and for a halt to "third world" immigration. On both these fronts he of course witnessed great triumphs over the past few years - which makes his depression even more saddening.
We wish Nick a happy and peaceful retirement from political activism, but are confident that a new generation of Australian patriots are ready to take up his baton and to follow his example.
