The world is currently in the most dangerous state that it has been in since the end of the Cold War – perhaps for even longer. At the moment there are three major armed conflicts taking place globally, all three of which could escalate into nuclear catastrophe.
At times like this in the past most western governments, and British administrations in particular, have tended to act wisely and to side with those who are obviously in the right. In these troubled times, alas, this has not always been the case.
As we have observed several times in the past, the Russian special military operation in the Ukraine has divided patriotic opinion more than any other issue that we can recall. We have many supporters who back the Russian actions completely, whereas many more take an uncompromising stance in favour of the Ukrainian separatists. We however take a far more neutral position, as even though we completely understand the Russian aspirations for a reunification of their lands, we believe that military action was not the way to achieve this. Recent British and other European governments ever since the Boris Johnson administration have adopted a totally biased anti-Russian stance however, a position which has led to intentional or unintentional Russian incursions into neighbouring NATO countries such as Poland, Romania and even Germany, and as Clause 5 of the NATO treaty states that “an attack on one is an attack on all” this therefore presents a frightening potential scenario. Far better, surely, for Britain to act an “honest broker” to bring the two sides together to end this dangerous fratricidal conflict!
Israel’s battle against the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists is unambiguously a struggle of good against evil, and surely it should be unthinkable to do anything other than to support Israel to the full. In the past Britain’s support for the Israeli people has mainly been admirable, dating back to the heroic Balfour Declaration, but alas when an earlier Labour administration of Clement Attlee chose to terminate the ill-named Palestine Mandate they only allowed the Jewish people to reclaim half of their historic land, even though the Arabs had their own traditional neighbouring areas in Sinia and the TransJordan to return to. Now, even though Israel has still not completely defeated the Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists, a subsequent Labour government seems to be siding with these same evil terrorists by opposing and even imposing sanctions against Israel simply for building more housing on their own historic and rightful land in Judea-Samaria. This act of hostility has predictably resulted in anti-British resentment in Israel, with calls even being made for the Israeli government to recognise Argentina’s illegal claim on the Falkland Islands!
After Britain’s earlier praiseworthy alliance with the United States and other Western nations in the War against Terror in Iraq, it would seem logical that when the Trump Administration at last decided to attack the other threatening wing of the “Axis of Evil”, the regime of the mad mullahs in Iran (Persia), Britain would again stand shoulder to shoulder with our “special relationship” ally. But alas no, and the United States has thus been forced to fight alone in the defence of the entire West against the renewed danger of expansionist Islam. Again the reaction of an erstwhile ally to this act of betrayal has been one of resentment, with the once ultra-pro-British Donald Trump now seemingly backing the Republic of Ireland’s illegal claim on Northern Ireland.
As can be seen therefore, by failing to take the morally correct actions in relation to these three most seismic military confrontations British governments from that of Boris Johnson to that of Andy Burnham have increased the possibility of nuclear annihilation by their misjudgement in the Russian/Ukrainian conflict, and have placed British sovereign territory at risk by their hostile stances towards Israel and the United States. The “Uniparty” parties must therefore be jettisoned from the British political arena, and replaced by a party which puts the interests of Britain and he British people first!

SPRINGBOK CLUB NEWS
The Springbok Club will again be organising this year's "Raising of the Flag" celebration, marking the 136th anniversary of the foundation of the great nation of Rhodesia. We are most honoured to announce that this year's event will be hosted by Mr. Andrew Hunter, who was the Conservative and then DUP MP for Basingstoke from 1983 until 2005, and Chairman of the Conservative Monday Club from 2002 until 2020. The details of this year's event are as follows :-
Date : Saturday 26th September 2026
Time : Ceremony to start at 14.30 hrs.
Venue : The St. Mary's Churchyard, Park Lane, Hampstead Marshall near Newbury, Berkshire, RG20 0JG.
Proceedings will be called to order by the Parade Commander, Sgt. Graham Gillmore (ex-Grenadier Guards, RLI and the South African Pathfinders Company), after which the traditional ceremony of the raising of the Union and Rhodesian Flags will take place. Following this short key-note speeches will be given by Mr. Andrew Hunter and by Springbok Club Honorary President Mr. Gavin Sandeman (who will be reading extracts from family letters written by members of the Sandeman family, of which Lt. E.C. “Teddy” Tindale-Biscoe RN, who first raised the Union Flag over the site which was to become Salisbury, Rhodesia, in 1890 was a member), after which toasts in Sandeman's Port will be raised to the King and Queen, the immortal memories of Cecil John Rhodes, Ian Smith and Peter Sladden and to all those who fought and died for Rhodesia. Proceedings will then be completed with the singing of the British and Rhodesian national anthems. Following the ceremony itself, however, a sumptuous braai will be staged at the near-by hostelry, which will be reasonably priced and should be paid for individually, and which will provide an excellent opportunity for convivial discussions and the planning of future events and advancement.
Please inform us if you intend to attend this year's event so that numbers can be planned for accordingly. If you intend to stay for the full weekend, however, arriving on Friday 25th September and leaving on Sunday 27th September, then please try to let us know as soon as possible. B&B accommodation at a splendid hostelry very close to the venue is still available at quite reasonable prices, although vacancies are limited.

The Springbok Club is planning a further country pub walk during October, and in November the organisation will be celebrating UDI Day in a more traditional manner, and then in December will be holding a special event in order to commemorate the Day of the Vow. More details about all these activities will appear in future editions of the SCN.

PATRIOTIC FORUM NEWS
An important development is anticipated for the Patriotic Forum shortly, which should increase the organisation’s support-base and influence significantly. Although it is still anticipated that the organisation will be holding meetings to be addressed by both a sitting county councillor and a representative from a leading EuroSceptic organisation in the near future, it is also now hoping to hold meetings to be addressed by two other prominent personalities before the end of the year. Further details will of course be given in future editions of the SCN.

UNION FLAG FLYING AGAIN OVER HAVERING TOWN HALL
We have recently been sent a copy of a most encouraging LinkedIn posting made by Andrew Rosindell MP (the ReformUK MP for Romford). It reads as follows :-
“It is wonderful to see that after being missing for four years, the Union Jack now proudly flies once again from the main flag mast at Havering Town Hall.
“Twenty-six years ago, in year 2000, as a Havering councillor, I led the campaign to fly our national flag from the Town Hall throughout the year, after the Labour controlled council refused to do so. All the Labour and most of the Residents’ Association councillors voted against it, but were forced to back down following an outcry from local people across the borough. Havering Council was also shamed in the national and local media for refusing to fly the flag!
“It was a sad day when Labour and Havering Residents’ Association took control of Havering Council in 2022, as the Union Jack was swiftly removed from the main Town Hall flag mast and was never flown since ... that is until this morning!
“Reform UK have at last put this right, with our cherished red, white and blue flag once again fluttering above our Town Hall in Romford!
“I now look forward to our Country (England) and County (Essex) flags being raised on the other two flag poles.
“Update: the Cross of St. George is now up too ... just need our Essex flag now to complete the set for Nation, Country and County!”

We have recently received the following most worrying message from the Animal Survival International organisation concerning acts of extreme cruelty against wild animals in zimbabwe. It reads as follows :-
“Without help, wild animals in Zimbabwe including lions, elephants and leopards, face agonizing deaths.
“Right now, wild animals in the ecologically important Lake Kariba region of Zimbabwe urgently need your help. This is why…
“An increasing number of wild animals are being caught in deadly snares across the 9,320 square-mile region. Snaring is one of the cruellest methods which poachers use to kill wild animals.
“Our partner, Bumi Hills Anti-Poaching Unit (BHAPU), tirelessly patrols the area, which has historically been a hotspot for wildlife crime. Since 2016, our team has entirely stamped out ivory poaching in Lake Kariba.
“However, driven by the lucrative bushmeat trade, poachers are increasingly targeting the area, which is roughly the size of Connecticut or the whole of Northern Ireland. This gives you an idea of the vast area the team must regularly patrol to keep animals safe.
“Please help our team to find stricken wild animals and save their lives before it’s too late.
“Often, animals caught in snares are never ‘collected’ by poachers, which dooms them to a slow, agonizing death as they succumb to their injuries or starvation over days or weeks.

GIRL POWER – AT LAST
Women have competed on equal terms, or almost on equal terms, in most sports for a long time now. In Lawn Tennis and all racquet sports this has been ever since the sports were first codified towards the end of the 19th century, and in most team sports since the early 20th century (although the record of Association Football administrators has not been totally admirable in this regard!). At the Olympic Games women have competed ever since the 2nd Olympiad of 1900, and in one leading Olympic discipline – equestrianism – women have always competed in the same events as men on a completely level playing field. It is strange therefore that the one sport where equality for women has been unacceptably slow in coming about has been Horse Racing.
Although there had been de facto women trainers ever since the end of the 19th century, it wasn’t until 1966 that the Jockey Club first issued official training licences to women. Progress has been even slower for female jockeys however, although progress has been slightly quicker in National Hunt Racing then in Flat Racing, with Rachel Blackmore winning the Grand National in 2021 and the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 2022. But in spite of this and other female successes since women were first allowed to become jockeys in the UK in 1972, no female jockey had ever won a British Classics race – until this month, when Saffie Osborne was triumphant on Highwayman in the St.Leger! This means that 1171 British Classic races had been run before the first female jockey was victorious! We therefore congratulate Saffie Osborne on this historic achievement (even though this present writer had backed Enceladus who finished second!), and commiserate with all those potential female jockeys of the past who were prevented from competing by antiquated rules!

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?
No.334: Mr. MARIO BORRAGEIRO of Durban
Mario Borrageiro was of Portuguese ancestry, with his parents having moved to South Africa when Portugal’s African provinces fell. He was a keen Cricketer, playing for the Umbilo-Congella Club in Durban. He visited the UK circa. 2000 and made contact with the Springbok Club, attending several of the organisation’s meetings, but alas had to return to the “new” South Africa for family reasons. Whilst in the UK we encouraged him to make contact with the Portuguese Cricket Federation to see whether he could gain an international cap, but sadly he was reluctant to do so. We alas haven’t heard any word from or about him for some time, but the news that Moises Henriques has now qualified to play for Portugal has reminded us of him. We wonder therefore whether anyone knows where he is now, and whether he did ever contact the Portuguese Cricket Federation?

Once again you have done a great job exposing the real agenda of Glastonbury - a vehicle for the hard left. “Bob Vylan” and “Kneecap” should be arrested and in jail for their hate speech. Lucy Connolly was sentenced to two years in jail for a short tweet. The UK is no longer a place of even-handed justice but a heavily censored, totalitarian State run by a Communist regime.

OBITUARY
KING HARALD V OF NORWAY
It was with much sadness that we learnt of the recent death of His Majesty King Harald V of Norway. Like other Scandinavian and Low Country monarchs he was a good friend of Britain, but in his case the relationship was even stronger, as he was actually the great-grandson of King Edward VII.
Born in 1937, he was forced to spend his early childhood in the United States following the German invasion of Norway, and he stayed there until the liberation of his country in May 1945. Like his grandfather, King Haakon VII and his father King Olav V he proved highly popular and put the interests of the Norwegian people first.
King Harald V was initially educated in Norway and did military service at the Norwegian Military Academy. Intellectually bright, he gained a place at Balliol College, Oxford, where he read Modern Greats and rowed for the college first VIII. He was actually a keen all-round sportsman, actually representing Norway at Yachting in the 1968 Olympic Games, and being a regular presence at Winter Sports events held in Norway, particularly Ski-Jumping.
His marriage was initially slightly controversial as he married a commoner rather than a member of a royal family, but it proved a happy and enduring marriage and produced a son and a daughter. Alas his daughter, after having three daughters herself from her first marriage to a prominent Norwegian author and artist, went “off the rails” after his death and formed a weird relationship with a non-White American (sounds familiar!), but the rest of the Royal Family allowed her to live her bizarre life away from the public glare rather than committing her to an asylum as had been suggested.
The private life of the crown prince – now King Haakon VIII – was no less controversial however, as he married a divorcee previously married to a totally unsuitable man and whose son had unfortunately inherited his father’s criminal traits. Like King Harald V’s own marriage, however, this marriage has also turned out to be happy and secure, and with King Harald V’s undoubted help the new Queen has been able to overcome the demons of her past.
King Harald V never interfered in Norwegian politics, but it is widely believed that he was delighted that Norway remained outside the EU. He was a good King who will be sorely missed. LONG LIVE KING HAAKON VIII!
