The witch-hunt initiated against Darren Lehmann after he made some quite innocuous "ethnic" remarks in the heat of the moment following his run out by the Sri Lankans in the VB Trophy series, reflects very badly upon the Australian Cricket authorities.
What Darren Lehmann said, after all, was nothing stronger than the comments regularly made about non-Whites in offices, bars and sports clubs throughout the Western world. Perhaps the Australian Cricket authorities need to be reminded that we are no longer living in the "politically correct" 1990s, but in the 21st century.
Meanwhile this year's Cricket World Cup in Africa continues as scheduled, in spite of the tyranny and famine in Zimbabwe, and the rampant-crime and chaos in South Africa itself. Many touring supporters are going to be mugged (and perhaps even murdered) as a result of this ill-located tournament, and attendances are bound to be poor - although as in the case of the 1995 Rugby World Cup all these problems will probably be hushed-up by the tame media.
The position of Dr. Ali Bacher in this tournament has been particularly revolting. Dr. Bacher, it should be remembered, was a leading member of Pieter van der Merwe's 1965 all-White touring side to England, and subsequently went on to captain the segregated South African team during the days of civilised rule. As such he gained semi-God-like status among patriots throughout the old White Commonwealth, and he subsequently received even more plaudits from patriots and lovers of freedom by organising the "rebel" tours to South Africa during the 1980s.
Bacher, alas, subsequently proved himself to be one of the most odious "Vicars of Bray" ever, and for the past few years has been sucking-up to some of the more obnoxious ANC-terrorist leaders, such as Nelson Mandela, Ngconde Balfour, Cheryl Carolus and Albie Sachs. Even worse, Bacher has been a leading advocate of continuing to play matches in Mugabe's terror-stricken land.
Dr. Bacher is of course Jewish - or at least he claims to be Jewish. He would do well to remember, therefore, that Mugabe is a close ally of the PLO-supporting Gadaffi-regime in Libya, and that the ANC is infected with anti-Semitism from top to bottom.

SPRINGBOK CLUB 2003 AGM
The Springbok Club successful held its 2003 AGM at the end of January. At this meeting Treasurer David Williams presented the accounts for 2002, which showed that although the organisation was still slightly in debt, it did make a small but significant profit over the year. This was followed by the Organiser's report for 2002, which proved to be very encouraging, and covered the activities and developments of the movement during the year. Gary Cartwright is the London and South-Eastern representative of the National Ex-Services Association, and is a regular contributor to their newspaper, NESA News. He served as a Senior Aircraftsman in the RAF from 1978 to 1983, specialising in aerial photography, and saw service in Cyprus, Malta, Gibraltar and Northern Ireland. In his talk he will tell us something about his service experience, particularly in the Imperial parts of the Mediterranean, and about the current work of NESA.

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
The London Branch of the Springbok Club held a most pleasant meeting during January at the Brown Bear in the East End of London. (The Brown Bear is currently owned by South African couple Peter and Pat Perfect - Pat being better known to many supporters from her Durban days as Pat Mountford). The highlight of this gathering was undoubtedly an informal talk given by John de Locksley on the history of the East End of London and the story of Jack the Ripper, Mr. de Locksley being an expert on this subject - and it subsequently transpired that the Ripper actually picked up one of the last of his tragic victims, Frances Coles, in the same Brown Bear pub!
The Chilterns Branch of the Springbok Club is pleased to announce an informal meeting at "The Bell", Frogmoor, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire (10 minutes walk from High Wycombe railway station) on Saturday 22nd February, commencing 15.00 hrs to 15.30 hrs. This pub has a reputation for good food and real ales, and boast a small paved patio which can be used if the weather is suitable.
The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club will be holding their 2003 AGM, followed by an informal social gathering, at the Jolly Knight, Rochester High Street (10 minutes walk from Rochester railway station) on Saturday 29th March 2003, from 14.00 hrs onwards. This event will be proceeded by a trip to the Royal Engineers' Museum in Chatham, which all members and supporters of the Springbok Club are invited to attend (precise details will be given in the March SCN).

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE
The London Swinton Circle held a most important meeting in January, which was addressed by Mr. Albert Poggio, the official representative of the Gibraltar Government in London. Mr. Poggio can a masterful overview of the history of British rule in Gibraltar, explaining how Spanish claims on the Rock were completely groundless, and emphasising the ongoing military and strategic importance of the territory to Britain.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?
No.52 : Mr. MIKE GIBB of Pietermartizburg.
Mike Gibb was the son of a well-known Pietermartizburg G.P.. He studied at UNP during the mid-1980s, and was active in the Conservative Party student branch at that university. He wrote occasionally for S.A.Patriot at that time, organising a meeting of the newly-formed Patriotic Forum addressed by the touring British patriotic activist Alan Gresham at his home. He also staged a number of riotous parties - particularly New Year parties - which were greatly-famed in the locality. After graduating in the late 1980s he moved to the UK in order to enlist in the Coldstream Guards - a regiment with which he had strong family connections - but unfortunately was not successful in this attempt, though apparently he decided to stay on in the UK to work. Alas all contact with him ceased after this, but several of his former colleagues from South Africa would be very keen to hear from him again.

Sir,
Thank you for a most informative Cyber Newsletter this month. Priora Forum supports any action to move, delay or cancel any major sporting activity, i.e. the Cricket World Cup, from the Southern region of the continent of Africa. I am still amazed at how short the world's memory is. Can't anyone remember how much sport we played (or didn't play!) in the so-called "apartheid" years? Not a single South African team were welcome anywhere in the world - and then we had a stable economy, low fuel price, productive farmers, low crime-rate, low inflation, enough food for everyone, very few illegal immigrants, above average medical facilities, good roads, excellent schools and Universities, etc.
What amazes me even more is that the very same world, that condemnend White South Africans for the successes achieved in the midst of those years, is very quiet now regarding the very same issues that are still happening in South Africa, but just by Blacks this time. Just as an example: when a British tourist and his wife were attacked in their hotel in Pilgrim's Rest, no arrests were made before the announcement of a substantial financial "reward". Then the police force jumped into action. Let me ask you this: for how many of the +/- 1400 White farmers who were murdered in this country since 1994 (which you refer to in your newsletter) were any financial "rewards" offered if the killers of these farmers were brought to book? Let me tell you: None. Nothing. Nada.

ENLIGHTENING
Sir,
I'd like to comment on the letter from L.R. of Midrand (SCN, January 2003).
He gives an interesting piece of information on how potential housebreakers know when the occupants are at home, and the monitoring of their movements.
I recently learnt by experience that criminals also watch for outdoor lights that are left burning day and night, or are on at night only while the occupier is away. I have outdoor lights that come on automatically when there is movement withing their range. Because there is presently a fault in the sensor, which keeps them burning all the time, day and night, I switch them off unless I have visitors arriving or leaving after dark. Last week I switched them on one night for my daughter and her husband who had been been out to dinner and the movies while staying with us. I forgot to switch the lights off after they came home. That night, crooks tried to enter my front door by prising it open with a screwdriver - with the lights shining on them. Fortunately they did not succeed, but only damaged the woodwork. This is the first time this has happened. I assume it is because my front door is in darkness while I'm at home, and I had changed the pattern.
L.R.'s last paragraph disturbs me. He wrote: "I suppose they (Afrikaners) have natural intelligence going for them, and maybe a handful can achieve what it took a couple of million to do - turn this country around!"
The actions of these latter day resisters are reminiscent of those a century ago, whose stolid rejection of prevailing circumstances resulted in the scorched earth policy against their own people and the incarceration of their families in concentration camps. This resulted in over 26,000 deaths and a century of bitterness thereafter. The tripartite government is already using propaganda against the current 'bitter enders', which is likely to worsen.

SIGN OF THE TIMES

A few weeks ago there was a march down West Street in Durban of over 1,000 Blacks, carrying of all things an old style (i.e. a real) South African flag, chanting and carrying banners that said "Down with Mbeki" and "Empty Promises" and such like. Not a mention on the TV or radio or any newspaper, but the Durban Metro Police confirmed that the march took place. So there are things happening out there, interesting things, which the world is not hearing about.

OBITUARY
JOHN GREGG
John Gregg, who was assassinated by lesser beings last week, was a great Ulster Loyalist and Brigadier of the UDA's B Company (South-East Antrim). He was also a good friend of South Africa, who recognised and understood the similarities between the Ulster and South African struggles, and the close terrorist links between the IRA and the ANC (and who also, incidentally, recognised the dangers posed to the West by Saddam Hussein's Iraq).
John Gregg was imprisoned in Long Kesh following the attempted elimination of one of the world's most evil terrorists, Gerry Adams. Of course in any sane society such an action would have been rewarded with a medal, but during the appeasement years of the end of the 20th century this resulted in his incarceration. It was whilst he was incarcerated in Long Kesh, in 1988, that he first made contact with S.A.Patriot. He wrote as follows:-
"As a Loyalist prisoner ... I thought I should write to you to wish you and the people you represent all the very best for the future of your country.
"The Patriotic Press (publishers of S.A.Patriot) and the views represented by it have a large support among the Loyalist people, and especially among Loyalist prisoners. We both face the same enemy, namely the IRA-ANC Communists.
"The cause of the IRA and the cause of the ANC have been greatly helped by the propaganda put forth by the media across the world, but I believe that a just cause such as ours will win through in the end.
"I have read numerous copies of S.A.Patriot and Kommando, and I must congratulate you on an excellent pair of magazines which give us the true facts about life in South Africa.
"Let me finish by once again wishing you all the very best for the future, and by using an old Ulster Loyalist battle-cry which is applicable to both our countries: "This is our land, No Surrender!"
Our sincerest condolences are extended to John Gregg's widow and son.

At the time of writing it is uncertain whether the planned Cricket World Cup matches scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe will go ahead or not.
Much has been made of the dictatorial nature of the ZANU-PF regime, the collapse of law and order in that country, and the murders of White farmers and their Black workers during Mugabe's land-grabbing campaign - but if these are grounds for moving matches away from Zimbabwe then the question has to be asked why is the heart of the tournament still scheduled to take place in South Africa? After all, the ANC regime in South Africa has just as strong terrorist roots as the ZANU-PF regime in Zimbabwe, South Africa is now universally recognised as the "crime capital of the world", and far more White farm-dwellers have been killed in South Africa during recent years than in Zimbabwe (1389 in South Africa as against 126 in Zimbabwe since 1994, according to latest figures).
It is therefore just as immoral and unsafe to stage this tournament in the South Africa of Mbeki as it is to stage it in the Zimbabwe of Mugabe. Make no mistake about it, many spectators (and probably also some players) are going to get hurt - and hurt badly - if the tournament goes ahead in South Africa. There is just as much logic in planning to stage the Cricket World Cup in South Africa as there was in trying to hold the Miss World Pageant in Nigeria!
But it is not too late to alter the location of the 2003 World Cup. The 1999 tournament was staged very successfully in England (or to be more precise in north-western Europe), and the grounds and infrastructure are still in place there. With seasonal variations it would be very easy to put back the 2003 tournament by three months so that the venues could be moved to the Northern Hemisphere, and it wouldn't take too much effort to alter the domestic fixture list so to do.
We therefore call upon the ICC to move the WHOLE of the 2003 tournament away from Southern Africa to safer and more civilised lands. To fail to do so would be an insult to all those who have died and suffered in Southern Africa under the Mugabe and Mandela/Mbeki regimes.
[We would emphasise to everyone, however, that if they need to visit South Africa for any reason then the safest course of action to take would be to employ the services of a registered national tourist guide.]

SPRINGBOK CLUB DAY OF THE VOW COMMEMORATION
The Springbok Club's 2002 Day of the Vow commemorations turned out to be a good and well-attended success.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Malcolm Wren (the "Engelse Boer"), gave a highly informative overview of the events which led to the Battle of Blood River, and then went on to inform the audience about the current-day Orania settlement on the banks of the Orange River, which he illustrated with the aid of two video-recordings. Mr. Wren ended his talk with the reading of Psalm 71 followed by a short prayer, in accordance with the Vow which was taken by the Voortrekkers in 1838.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB ACTIVITIES
The 2003 AGM of the Springbok Club will take place on Tuesday 28th January in central London, and all members will be receiving official notification through the post giving exact details within the next few days. Only fully paid-up members of the SC will be entitled to attend this meeting, and only Honorary, Life and Full Members will be eligible to vote. If you would like to attend and are not already a member then membership applications, together with the appropriate payment (made payable to "Patriotic Press"), should be forwarded as soon as possible to: The Springbok Club, BCM SAPAT, London WC1N 3XX, UK. The Article 23 Concern Group, formed by Denis Chang, S.C., Ronny Tong, S.C., Gladys Li, S.C., Audrey Eu, S.C., Alan Leong, S.C., Professor Johannes Chan, Professor Michael Davis, Margaret Ng and Christine Loh, has published a series of pamphlets on Article 23 legislation with the view to identify the areas of concern and to explain to people of Hong Kong how the proposed legislation will affect the fundamental rights and freedoms guranteed by the Basic Law.

NATURAL SELECTION
Sir,
It is actually quite devastating that in this country you cannot even count on a simple thing like the mail. It's no wonder we have this new group group of Afrikaners that are intent on destroying the ANC Government. What I find quite interesting about this recent spate of bombings in Soweto by this right-wing Afrikaner group is the government's reaction to it. They have gone on say they are not going to tolerate these 'terrorist' tactics of 'cowardly' bombings. Where I get a little confused is, isn't that exactly what Nelson Mandela did - plant bombs and blow-up innocent people? And he was our president! I'm surprised the ANC didn't offer them a spot in the zoo err... I mean parliament.
Other news is that my house was targeted for a possible break-in last week. It was extremely upsetting. The 'dark' house-breakers have various methods of determining the value of the contents of the house and the status of the occupants. One of the new things the do is they put a piece of perfectly cut polystyrene under your gate - fitted perfectly so that an accidental bump or the wind doesn't disturb it. With this they are able to tell if you are home or not - because once you open the gate it will disturb the block and then they know you are at home. They do this for a couple of days to determine approximately what time you come home and how often you are at home. I was so upset about this because I have been broken into and had everything stolen before - and it was probably the worst experience of my life. It upsets me because I can do nothing about it - I am not worried at all about my belongings just my pets - because these 'new' South Africans are notorious for killing your pets when they invade your home. Things are replacable, lives are not.
So yes, things are still very grim in this country, with only a handful of Afrikaners as the silver-lining to this dark cloud of a country. I suppose they have natural intelligence going for them, and maybe a handful can achieve what it took a couple of million to do - turn this country around!

Mr. CHRIS PEAD
Mr. Chris Pead has recently tendered his resignation from the Springbok Club. He joined the organisation only relatively recently, but quickly gained himself a position on the London Branch committee.
Pead was very much of an enigma, and his interest in the movement was very much of a mystery. He didn't seem to have any direct connection with Southern Africa (although his sister lived in Zambia [Northern Rhodesia]), and didn't appear to have any interest in sport. Quite obviously, therefore, he didn't seem to understand what the organisation was all about.
It subsequently came to light that he was an adherent of the strange and esoteric "British Israelite" sect however, and furthermore was apparently using the SC in order to propagate his religious views. Everybody is of course entitled to their own religious persuasion, and the SC welcomes members of all religious faiths - and of none! Pead went further than this however, and started bombarding us with a number of bizarre e-mail articles, many of them of a quite objectionable anti-Semitic nature.
If any other supporters have been annoyed or upset by any such unsolicited material from Pead then we would like to apologise to them, and to emphasise that this man no longer has any connection with the organisation.

THE CURSE OF SPRINGBOK
Somebody else who clearly didn't understand what the Springbok Club (or more precisely one of our earlier component affiliates, the White Rhino Club) was all about, and who caused us quite considerable problems at the time, was Mr. Mark Cotterill.
Cotterill joined and became an active supporter of the White Rhino Club shortly after the organisation was re-constituted in the UK in 1992, but again seemed to have no direct connection with Southern Africa whatsoever. Cotterill's ulterior motivation turned out to be political rather than religious however, and although he claimed to be a mainstream Conservative it subsequently transpired that he had some quite extreme "off the edge" political connections.
He attended a White Rhino Club function in North Devon over the holiday weekend of 4th/8th June 1993, together with a sidekick named Bill Ablett, and between them they proceeded to sabotage and wreck the entire event. At first we were completely mystified by these disgusting antics of Cotterill and Ablett, but it subsequently came to light that Cotterill had developed a childish grudge against the organisation merely because one of the officials had written an article for a magazine that he disapproved of!
Cotterill seemed to have a knack of making unnecessary enemies however, and shortly after this incident he was badly beaten up at his then home at Torquay. He subsequently fled to the United States, where apparently he again managed to worm his way into several organisations that he appeared to have no direct connection with. Inevitably this only led to big problems and embarrassments for these associations after his connections with extremist political organisations came to light, which included - by all accounts - being the US representative of the neo-fascist 'British' National Party!
We have recently learnt, however, that at long last Cotterill's sinister activities have come to the attention of the US authorities, and as his legal position in the US was apparently not in order he has now been unceremoniously kicked out of the country!

January 2003 edition
At the time of writing it is uncertain whether the planned Cricket World Cup matches scheduled to take place in Zimbabwe will go ahead or not.
Much has been made of the dictatorial nature of the ZANU-PF regime, the collapse of law and order in that country, and the murders of White farmers and their Black workers during Mugabe's land-grabbing campaign - but if these are grounds for moving matches away from Zimbabwe then the question has to be asked why is the heart of the tournament still scheduled to take place in South Africa? After all, the ANC regime in South Africa has just as strong terrorist roots as the ZANU-PF regime in Zimbabwe, South Africa is now universally recognised as the "crime capital of the world", and far more White farm-dwellers have been killed in South Africa during recent years than in Zimbabwe (1389 in South Africa as against 126 in Zimbabwe since 1994, according to latest figures).
It is therefore just as immoral and unsafe to stage this tournament in the South Africa of Mbeki as it is to stage it in the Zimbabwe of Mugabe. Make no mistake about it, many spectators (and probably also some players) are going to get hurt - and hurt badly - if the tournament goes ahead in South Africa. There is just as much logic in planning to stage the Cricket World Cup in South Africa as there was in trying to hold the Miss World Pageant in Nigeria!
But it is not too late to alter the location of the 2003 World Cup. The 1999 tournament was staged very successfully in England (or to be more precise in north-western Europe), and the grounds and infrastructure are still in place there. With seasonal variations it would be very easy to put back the 2003 tournament by three months so that the venues could be moved to the Northern Hemisphere, and it wouldn't take too much effort to alter the domestic fixture list so to do.
We therefore call upon the ICC to move the WHOLE of the 2003 tournament away from Southern Africa to safer and more civilised lands. To fail to do so would be an insult to all those who have died and suffered in Southern Africa under the Mugabe and Mandela/Mbeki regimes.
[We would emphasise to everyone, however, that if they need to visit South Africa for any reason then the safest course of action to take would be to employ the services of a registered national tourist guide.]

SPRINGBOK CLUB DAY OF THE VOW COMMEMORATION
The Springbok Club's 2002 Day of the Vow commemorations turned out to be a good and well-attended success.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Malcolm Wren (the "Engelse Boer"), gave a highly informative overview of the events which led to the Battle of Blood River, and then went on to inform the audience about the current-day Orania settlement on the banks of the Orange River, which he illustrated with the aid of two video-recordings. Mr. Wren ended his talk with the reading of Psalm 71 followed by a short prayer, in accordance with the Vow which was taken by the Voortrekkers in 1838.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB ACTIVITIES
The 2003 AGM of the Springbok Club will take place on Tuesday 28th January in central London, and all members will be receiving official notification through the post giving exact details within the next few days. Only fully paid-up members of the SC will be entitled to attend this meeting, and only Honorary, Life and Full Members will be eligible to vote. If you would like to attend and are not already a member then membership applications, together with the appropriate payment (made payable to "Patriotic Press"), should be forwarded as soon as possible to: The Springbok Club, BCM SAPAT, London WC1N 3XX, UK. Current membership fees are £500.00 for Life Membership, £20.00 for annual Full Membership (reduced to £12.00 for students and senior citizens) and £5.00 for annual Associate Membership. NATURAL SELECTION
Sir,
It is actually quite devastating that in this country you cannot even count on a simple thing like the mail. It's no wonder we have this new group group of Afrikaners that are intent on destroying the ANC Government. What I find quite interesting about this recent spate of bombings in Soweto by this right-wing Afrikaner group is the government's reaction to it. They have gone on say they are not going to tolerate these 'terrorist' tactics of 'cowardly' bombings. Where I get a little confused is, isn't that exactly what Nelson Mandela did - plant bombs and blow-up innocent people? And he was our president! I'm surprised the ANC didn't offer them a spot in the zoo err... I mean parliament.
Other news is that my house was targeted for a possible break-in last week. It was extremely upsetting. The 'dark' house-breakers have various methods of determining the value of the contents of the house and the status of the occupants. One of the new things the do is they put a piece of perfectly cut polystyrene under your gate - fitted perfectly so that an accidental bump or the wind doesn't disturb it. With this they are able to tell if you are home or not - because once you open the gate it will disturb the block and then they know you are at home. They do this for a couple of days to determine approximately what time you come home and how often you are at home. I was so upset about this because I have been broken into and had everything stolen before - and it was probably the worst experience of my life. It upsets me because I can do nothing about it - I am not worried at all about my belongings just my pets - because these 'new' South Africans are notorious for killing your pets when they invade your home. Things are replacable, lives are not.
So yes, things are still very grim in this country, with only a handful of Afrikaners as the silver-lining to this dark cloud of a country. I suppose they have natural intelligence going for them, and maybe a handful can achieve what it took a couple of million to do - turn this country around!

Mr. CHRIS PEAD
Mr. Chris Pead has recently tendered his resignation from the Springbok Club. He joined the organisation only relatively recently, but quickly gained himself a position on the London Branch committee.
Pead was very much of an enigma, and his interest in the movement was very much of a mystery. He didn't seem to have any direct connection with Southern Africa (although his sister lived in Zambia [Northern Rhodesia]), and didn't appear to have any interest in sport. Quite obviously, therefore, he didn't seem to understand what the organisation was all about.
It subsequently came to light that he was an adherent of the strange and esoteric "British Israelite" sect however, and furthermore was apparently using the SC in order to propagate his religious views. Everybody is of course entitled to their own religious persuasion, and the SC welcomes members of all religious faiths - and of none! Pead went further than this however, and started bombarding us with a number of bizarre e-mail articles, many of them of a quite objectionable anti-Semitic nature.
If any other supporters have been annoyed or upset by any such unsolicited material from Pead then we would like to apologise to them, and to emphasise that this man no longer has any connection with the organisation.

THE CURSE OF SPRINGBOK
Somebody else who clearly didn't understand what the Springbok Club (or more precisely one of our earlier component affiliates, the White Rhino Club) was all about, and who caused us quite considerable problems at the time, was Mr. Mark Cotterill.
Cotterill joined and became an active supporter of the White Rhino Club shortly after the organisation was re-constituted in the UK in 1992, but again seemed to have no direct connection with Southern Africa whatsoever. Cotterill's ulterior motivation turned out to be political rather than religious however, and although he claimed to be a mainstream Conservative it subsequently transpired that he had some quite extreme "off the edge" political connections.
He attended a White Rhino Club function in North Devon over the holiday weekend of 4th/8th June 1993, together with a sidekick named Bill Ablett, and between them they proceeded to sabotage and wreck the entire event. At first we were completely mystified by these disgusting antics of Cotterill and Ablett, but it subsequently came to light that Cotterill had developed a childish grudge against the organisation merely because one of the officials had written an article for a magazine that he disapproved of!
Cotterill seemed to have a knack of making unnecessary enemies however, and shortly after this incident he was badly beaten up at his then home at Torquay. He subsequently fled to the United States, where apparently he again managed to worm his way into several organisations that he appeared to have no direct connection with. Inevitably this only led to big problems and embarrassments for these associations after his connections with extremist political organisations came to light, which included - by all accounts - being the US representative of the neo-fascist 'British' National Party!
We have recently learnt, however, that at long last Cotterill's sinister activities have come to the attention of the US authorities, and as his legal position in the US was apparently not in order he has now been unceremoniously kicked out of the country!

In edition No.26 of S.A.Patriot an article appeared entitled "No Place for Whites in Black Africa". Commenting upon the then recent murders of Douglas "Boss" Lilford in Zimbabwe and Joy Adamson in Kenya it was stated "once Blacks take over control African states are totally incapable of maintaining any semblence of law and order."
Two events of the last month proved that this observation was as true in the early part of the 21st century as it was during the 1980s when it was written. Firstly we saw the debacle of the Miss World contestants having to flee Nigeria in the wake of escalating riots in that country which were directly threatening their physical safety (and whoever was stupid enough to contemplate holding this pageant in an anarchic third-world African state such as Nigeria in the first place must have been so naive that it bordered on the criminally insane), and secondly we witnessed the twin terrorist attacks upon Israeli tourists in Kenya.
Although both these events may have been directly caused by fundamental Islamic terrorism, the fact remains that it was the environment of primeval Black-ruled Africa which gave the terrorists the chaotic background in which to operate. One only has to remember the ongoing slaughter of White farmers and tourists in both Zimbabwe and South Africa to realise that Whites are under risk of death everywhere on the African continent where they may venture nowadays.
As those Israeli tourists who survived the terrorist attacks can testify, it is now foolhardy in the extreme for Whites to contemplate holidaying anywhere in Africa. Those who do decide to embark on tours of the continent under the present circumstances will only have themselves to blame when the seemingly inevitable happens. Again to quote S.A.Patriot No.26, "... by so doing they will be signing their own death certificates."

SPRINGBOK CLUB UDI DAY DINNER
This year's Springbok Club UDI Day Dinner proved to be the most successful such event to date. Held at a central London venue the function was packed, and the standard of food proved superlative. The Guest of Honour was Mr. Albert Weidemann, the leading Zimbabwe human rights activist. In his excellent after-dinner speech Mr. Weidemann gave a thorough, though very chilling, overview of the current oppressive situation in Zimbabwe under the ZANU-PF regime, and emphasised how it was Blacks as well as Whites who were suffering. He ended on a note of optimism however, telling how in spite of all the intimidation the MDC opposition were still a vibrant force in the country, and how their coming to power could provide a rarity in Africa, namely a competent and democratic Black government.

SPRINGBOK CLUB DAY OF THE VOW COMMEMORATION
Details the Springbok Club's forthcoming Day of the Vow commemoration are as follows:-
Date : Monday 16th December 2002
Time : 19.00 hrs. for 19.30 hrs.
Venue : The MORPETH ARMS (the upstairs Function Room), 58 Millbank, Westminster, London SW1 (close to the Tate Gallery and Vauxhall Bridge - nearest tube station: Pimlico).
The Guest of Honour at this event will be Mr. Malcolm Wren. Popularly known as the “Engelse Boer” (the “English Afrikaner”), Malcolm Wren was born at Germiston in the Transvaal of joint British and Afrikaner ancestry. He served in the 4th South African Infantry Regiment where he qualified as an army dog-handler, before being attached to the South African Signals Regiment. Although now living in the U.K. for 4½ years his affection for the Afrikaner people and their culture has never wavered, and he has been instrumental in the establishment of the Suid-Afrikaans Biblioteek (South African Library) in the U.K., as well as being actively involved in protest demonstrations against the ongoing murders of South African farmers outside the South African High Commission in London. He is a keen supporter of the Orania settlement (a self-contained Afrikaner community of about 1000 people on the banks of the Orange River) having visited the settlement twice, and the story of Orania will be the main subject of his keynote talk.
A buffet meal will be provided at the conclusion of the evening’s activities, and admission charges will be £10.00 per head for non-members, £5.00 per head for Associate Members, but free for all Life, Honorary and Full members of the Springbok Club. Although payment may be made on the night it would help to gauge numbers if all those interested in attending could inform us by e-mail in advance.

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club held a most pleasant get-together in Rochester last month. At this gathering Robert Shipley was unanimously elected president of the branch, and a five-person branch committee was appointed. The branch plans to hold regular quarterly meetings during 2003, and hope to be able to use a potential new venue on the Isle of Sheppey - complete with braai-stand - for this purpose.
The Springbok Club's London Branch yuletide social is now being planned for the end of December, and full details will be given in a special intermediary edition of the SCN.
The next meeting of the Chilterns Branch of the Springbok Club is planned to take the form of an informal pub-gathering at Amersham, Buckinghamshire, early during the new year, probably during January.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB ACTIVITIES
The 2003 AGM of the Springbok Club has been provisionally planned for Thursday 23rd January in central London. Supporters are reminded that only fully paid-up members of the SC will be entitled to attend this meeting, and only Honorary, Life and Full Members will be entitled to vote. Membership rates are still £500.00 for Life Membership, £20.00 for annual Full Membership (reduced to £12.00 for students and senior citizens) and £5.00 for annual Associate Membership. ROGUES GALLERY
During the last month we have been plagued by two troublesome individuals. The first goes under the name of Raymond Peter Burnside who evidently resides in New Zealand, and who has been inundated us with a stream of offensive and unsolicited e-mails of a neo-Nazi nature. When we asked this Burnside character to cease forwarding us such obnoxious unwanted material we only received childish Nazi-style abuse in response.
The second individual went under the bizarre name of "Hosepipe Mufalira" and claimed to be a Black prisoner in a Zambian jail. There were several reasons why we doubted the authenticity of his message, not least because of the unbelievable name! His e-mail was addressed not to the Springbok Club as such but to a minor official in the organisation, and mention was made therein to two individuals who earlier this year had conducted an infantile vendetta campaign against us (though he wasn't very complimentary to either of them, particularly regarding the wretched Mr.Tuohy!), thus suggesting that this "Mufalira" must be someone "in the know".
We don't know whether Burnside and "Mufalira" are connected in any way, or to any of the other trouble-makers who have plagued us in the past, but if anyone can provide any further information about either of them we would be most grateful.

THE CURSE OF SPRINGBOK
A few months ago we were also inundated by a steam of obnoxious unsolicited e-mails of an anti-Semitic nature sent by a character going under the name of Greg Weilo. We have subsequently learnt that his e-mail address has now been disconnected however, apparently as a result of complaints about the unsolicited anti-Semitic postings which he was circulating. Messrs. Burnside and "Mufalira" should take note!

WET NOSE ANIMAL RESCUE - ZIMBABWE CRISIS
This mission is in full swing and even though we have been doing it since June 2002, we are now in the most critical stage, we are currently flying 2 - 3 flights of animals a week into South Africa. Tonight another flight landed and one family met us at the airport to be re-united with their German Shepherd "Hoover" after 3 weeks. They departed from Zimbabwe yesterday morning and their pets were taken into the holding station 3
weeks ago.
A big welcome to Hoover and his family. Then 4 other puppies flew in tonight and these are also to be re-united with their family hopefully within the next 2 weeks.
There are still many animals up in our holding station in Harare [Salisbury] and farmers are bringing them in daily for safekeeping until they can either be re-homed or re-united again here in South Africa.
To those of you that have enquired about the horses, many are already in the station in Zimbabwe and the Dourine tests have been done and we are expecting them down within the next month if all goes well with permits etc. We have put a team together to deal just with the horses and this task team will be making all the arrangements. So, anybody that would like to offer help with the horses can e-mail us and we will supply the details of the Task Team leader, Judith and you can correspond directly with her.
We have one family up in Zimbabwe who owns 6 horses, 4 cats and 5 dogs and a plea is sent out that if possible, can anyone offer a home to this family's pets as they are trying desperately not to have them separated. I know this is a huge call but maybe somebody out there has a huge farm that can accommodate all this family's pets. Photo's arrived tonight with pictures of the family pets.
Medicine is still of huge shortage up in Zimbabwe and we have sent another consignment up to help our holding station. The situation is now critical as food is a huge shortage.
We know that you have all been loyal and supportive and without you we would not be able to help all these animals so we are eternally grateful for any help. Funds are once again desperately needed as the medicines, feed and goods needed are expensive and we need to send up a lot of goods within the next week.

OBITUARY
It was with much sadness that we recently learnt of the death of Mr. John Bate. John Bate had left southern Africa and moved to the Isle of Angelsey in north Wales, and made contact with the Springbok Club a couple of years ago. He became a staunch supporter of the organisation, but alas because of his isolated location he wasn't able to be as actively involved as he would have liked. He was, however, seriously considering trying to form a branch of the SC on Angelsey, an ambition which now alas will not come to immediate fruition. Our thoughts and sympathies are extended to his daughter and to the rest of his family.

December 2002 edition
In edition No.26 of S.A.Patriot an article appeared entitled "No Place for Whites in Black Africa". Commenting upon the then recent murders of Douglas "Boss" Lilford in Zimbabwe and Joy Adamson in Kenya it was stated "once Blacks take over control African states are totally incapable of maintaining any semblence of law and order."
Two events of the last month proved that this observation was as true in the early part of the 21st century as it was during the 1980s when it was written. Firstly we saw the debacle of the Miss World contestants having to flee Nigeria in the wake of escalating riots in that country which were directly threatening their physical safety (and whoever was stupid enough to contemplate holding this pageant in an anarchic third-world African state such as Nigeria in the first place must have been so naive that it bordered on the criminally insane), and secondly we witnessed the twin terrorist attacks upon Israeli tourists in Kenya.
Although both these events may have been directly caused by fundamental Islamic terrorism, the fact remains that it was the environment of primeval Black-ruled Africa which gave the terrorists the chaotic background in which to operate. One only has to remember the ongoing slaughter of White farmers and tourists in both Zimbabwe and South Africa to realise that Whites are under risk of death everywhere on the African continent where they may venture nowadays.
As those Israeli tourists who survived the terrorist attacks can testify, it is now foolhardy in the extreme for Whites to contemplate holidaying anywhere in Africa. Those who do decide to embark on tours of the continent under the present circumstances will only have themselves to blame when the seemingly inevitable happens. Again to quote S.A.Patriot No.26, "... by so doing they will be signing their own death certificates."

SPRINGBOK CLUB UDI DAY DINNER
This year's Springbok Club UDI Day Dinner proved to be the most successful such event to date. Held at a central London venue the function was packed, and the standard of food proved superlative. The Guest of Honour was Mr. Albert Weidemann, the leading Zimbabwe human rights activist. In his excellent after-dinner speech Mr. Weidemann gave a thorough, though very chilling, overview of the current oppressive situation in Zimbabwe under the ZANU-PF regime, and emphasised how it was Blacks as well as Whites who were suffering. He ended on a note of optimism however, telling how in spite of all the intimidation the MDC opposition were still a vibrant force in the country, and how their coming to power could provide a rarity in Africa, namely a competent and democratic Black government.

SPRINGBOK CLUB DAY OF THE VOW COMMEMORATION
Details the Springbok Club's forthcoming Day of the Vow commemoration are as follows:-
Date : Monday 16th December 2002
Time : 19.00 hrs. for 19.30 hrs.
Venue : The MORPETH ARMS (the upstairs Function Room), 58 Millbank, Westminster, London SW1 (close to the Tate Gallery and Vauxhall Bridge - nearest tube station: Pimlico).
The Guest of Honour at this event will be Mr. Malcolm Wren. Popularly known as the “Engelse Boer” (the “English Afrikaner”), Malcolm Wren was born at Germiston in the Transvaal of joint British and Afrikaner ancestry. He served in the 4th South African Infantry Regiment where he qualified as an army dog-handler, before being attached to the South African Signals Regiment. Although now living in the U.K. for 4½ years his affection for the Afrikaner people and their culture has never wavered, and he has been instrumental in the establishment of the Suid-Afrikaans Biblioteek (South African Library) in the U.K., as well as being actively involved in protest demonstrations against the ongoing murders of South African farmers outside the South African High Commission in London. He is a keen supporter of the Orania settlement (a self-contained Afrikaner community of about 1000 people on the banks of the Orange River) having visited the settlement twice, and the story of Orania will be the main subject of his keynote talk.
A buffet meal will be provided at the conclusion of the evening’s activities, and admission charges will be £10.00 per head for non-members, £5.00 per head for Associate Members, but free for all Life, Honorary and Full members of the Springbok Club. Although payment may be made on the night it would help to gauge numbers if all those interested in attending could inform us by e-mail in advance.

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club held a most pleasant get-together in Rochester last month. At this gathering Robert Shipley was unanimously elected president of the branch, and a five-person branch committee was appointed. The branch plans to hold regular quarterly meetings during 2003, and hope to be able to use a potential new venue on the Isle of Sheppey - complete with braai-stand - for this purpose.
The Springbok Club's London Branch yuletide social is now being planned for the end of December, and full details will be given in a special intermediary edition of the SCN.
The next meeting of the Chilterns Branch of the Springbok Club is planned to take the form of an informal pub-gathering at Amersham, Buckinghamshire, early during the new year, probably during January.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB ACTIVITIES
The 2003 AGM of the Springbok Club has been provisionally planned for Thursday 23rd January in central London. Supporters are reminded that only fully paid-up members of the SC will be entitled to attend this meeting, and only Honorary, Life and Full Members will be entitled to vote. Membership rates are still £500.00 for Life Membership, £20.00 for annual Full Membership (reduced to £12.00 for students and senior citizens) and £5.00 for annual Associate Membership. ROGUES GALLERY
During the last month we have been plagued by two troublesome individuals. The first goes under the name of Raymond Peter Burnside who evidently resides in New Zealand, and who has been inundated us with a stream of offensive and unsolicited e-mails of a neo-Nazi nature. When we asked this Burnside character to cease forwarding us such obnoxious unwanted material we only received childish Nazi-style abuse in response.
The second individual went under the bizarre name of "Hosepipe Mufalira" and claimed to be a Black prisoner in a Zambian jail. There were several reasons why we doubted the authenticity of his message, not least because of the unbelievable name! His e-mail was addressed not to the Springbok Club as such but to a minor official in the organisation, and mention was made therein to two individuals who earlier this year had conducted an infantile vendetta campaign against us (though he wasn't very complimentary to either of them, particularly regarding the wretched Mr.Tuohy!), thus suggesting that this "Mufalira" must be someone "in the know".
We don't know whether Burnside and "Mufalira" are connected in any way, or to any of the other trouble-makers who have plagued us in the past, but if anyone can provide any further information about either of them we would be most grateful.

THE CURSE OF SPRINGBOK
A few months ago we were also inundated by a steam of obnoxious unsolicited e-mails of an anti-Semitic nature sent by a character going under the name of Greg Weilo. We have subsequently learnt that his e-mail address has now been disconnected however, apparently as a result of complaints about the unsolicited anti-Semitic postings which he was circulating. Messrs. Burnside and "Mufalira" should take note!

WET NOSE ANIMAL RESCUE - ZIMBABWE CRISIS
This mission is in full swing and even though we have been doing it since June 2002, we are now in the most critical stage, we are currently flying 2 - 3 flights of animals a week into South Africa. Tonight another flight landed and one family met us at the airport to be re-united with their German Shepherd "Hoover" after 3 weeks. They departed from Zimbabwe yesterday morning and their pets were taken into the holding station 3
weeks ago.
A big welcome to Hoover and his family. Then 4 other puppies flew in tonight and these are also to be re-united with their family hopefully within the next 2 weeks.
There are still many animals up in our holding station in Harare [Salisbury] and farmers are bringing them in daily for safekeeping until they can either be re-homed or re-united again here in South Africa.
To those of you that have enquired about the horses, many are already in the station in Zimbabwe and the Dourine tests have been done and we are expecting them down within the next month if all goes well with permits etc. We have put a team together to deal just with the horses and this task team will be making all the arrangements. So, anybody that would like to offer help with the horses can e-mail us and we will supply the details of the Task Team leader, Judith and you can correspond directly with her.
We have one family up in Zimbabwe who owns 6 horses, 4 cats and 5 dogs and a plea is sent out that if possible, can anyone offer a home to this family's pets as they are trying desperately not to have them separated. I know this is a huge call but maybe somebody out there has a huge farm that can accommodate all this family's pets. Photo's arrived tonight with pictures of the family pets.
Medicine is still of huge shortage up in Zimbabwe and we have sent another consignment up to help our holding station. The situation is now critical as food is a huge shortage.
We know that you have all been loyal and supportive and without you we would not be able to help all these animals so we are eternally grateful for any help. Funds are once again desperately needed as the medicines, feed and goods needed are expensive and we need to send up a lot of goods within the next week.

OBITUARY
It was with much sadness that we recently learnt of the death of Mr. John Bate. John Bate had left southern Africa and moved to the Isle of Angelsey in north Wales, and made contact with the Springbok Club a couple of years ago. He became a staunch supporter of the organisation, but alas because of his isolated location he wasn't able to be as actively involved as he would have liked. He was, however, seriously considering trying to form a branch of the SC on Angelsey, an ambition which now alas will not come to immediate fruition. Our thoughts and sympathies are extended to his daughter and to the rest of his family.

The result of the recent Gibraltarian referendum, when 98.97% of the voters rejected any form of joint sovereignty and sell-out to Spain, brought great joy and encouragement to all patriots in Britain and South Africa, and indeed throughout the West.
This near unanimous vote by an entire people demonstrated the unity, defiance and determination of the people of Gibraltar, and compared more than favourably to the Rhodesian referendum of 30th January 1979 (when only 14.6% of the electorate voted to continue the struggle) and the South African constitutional referenda of 1983 and 1992 (when on both occasions only about one-third voted for their nation to survive). At least the Rhodesians fought for 13 years in defence of their country, and then seemed to have little alternative other than to surrender when "stabbed in the back" by John Vorster's South African NP government, but the results of the South African plebiscites remain as inexplicable now as they did at the time.
As was stated during one of the recent pro-Gibraltar demonstrations in London: "Gibraltar is the new Rhodesia", and indeed many of those present at this demonstration had also been keen supporters of pro-Rhodesian activities 30 years earlier. Furthermore the enemies that are faced today who wish to sell-out Gibraltar are the same as those who wished to sell-out Rhodesia during the 1960s and 70s - and in the case of the odious crypto-terrorist Peter Hain one and the same person!
The result of the Gibraltarian referendum would seem to confirm that there is a completely different zeitgeist around now at the start of the 21st century than there was at the tailend of the 20th. The tide has turned.

SPRINGBOK CLUB LONDON BRANCH MEETING
The London Branch of the Springbok Club held a successful meeting in central London last month, which was addressed by Mr. Allan Robertson, the Deputy-Chairman of the Springbok Club and Chairman of the London Swinton Circle.
In a well-researched and reflective speech Mr. Robertson told how his interest in the nations of southern Africa had been ignited when he joined the "Scottish South Africa Society" which opposed sanctions against South Africa during the 1970s and 80s. He then went on to give an overview of southern African history, emphasising how the region had been subject to political manipulation a century ago just as it is today. He praised the work of Louis Botha and Jan Smuts in co-operating closely with Britain through the British Commonwealth, but then added that South Africa had no choice but to leave the Commonwealth following MacMillan's notorious "Winds of Change" speech, which heralded an awful descent into barbarism right across Africa.
He also reminded everyone of how South Africa, Rhodesia and SWA had been bulwarks for the West against the spread of Communism during the era of the Cold War, yet conversely it was sinister elements in this same West who worked for the destruction of Western civilisation in Southern Africa during the same period. Finally Mr. Robertson called on the Springbok Club to form alliances with other similar organisations both in South Africa and throughout the West to defeat the subversives in our midst.

UDI DAY DINNER
There are still a few places available for this year's Springbok Club UDI Day Dinner. Once again the details are as follows:-
The dinner will be held at a venue in central London on Saturday 16th November 2002. Assembly will take place from 18.00 hrs onwards, with the dinner itself commencing at 19.00 hrs.
The guest of honour at this function will be a leading Zimbabwe human rights campaigner who has been a leading organiser of protest demonstrations in London against the current tyrannical regime in Zimbabwe. We have decided not to disclose his precise identity at this stage as he still has family living in Zimbabwe.
The price for this dinner, which will consist of a three-course meal, will be £19.50 per head. As places will be limited they will be allocated strictly on a "first come first served" basis. All payments (which should be made payable to "Patriotic Press") should therefore be forwarded to: The Springbok Club, BCM SAPAT, London WC1N 3XX, UK, as soon as possible. All those who wish to attend are also asked to select their menu options in advance, which consist of:-

The next meeting of the Kent Branch of the Springbok Club will take the form of an informal pub gathering, and will be held at the "Jolly Knight" in Rochester High Street (10 minutes walk from Rochester Railway Station) during the afternoon of Saturday 30th November, from 14.00 hrs onwards. Although this will be an unofficial gathering it is hoped that the branch committee for the forthcoming year will be elected on this occasion. In order to discover where the gathering is assembled look out for the Springbok Rugby jerseys, or alternatively ask at the bar.
The London Branch of the Springbok Club will be holding a social during early December, and full details will be given in the December edition of the SCN.
The next meeting of the Chilterns Branch of the Springbok Club has been put back until early next year in order not to clash with other SC activities.
As was mentioned last month, the problems caused by an original supporter of the Lancashire Branch of the Springbok Club pulling out are still unfortunately handicapping the official launch of this branch. It is anticipated that the branch will be officially inaugurated early during 2003 however. The latest pro-Gibraltar demonstration in London, which was held in Whitehall opposite Downing Street on the day of the Gibraltarian referendum, proved to be a great success. Many Springbok Club members and supporters were present among the large crowd, as well as many Gibraltarians who were in London at the time, and with whom good contacts were made. Once again there was almost unanimous support from passers-by, which greatly boosted everyone's morale. A letter addressed to the Prime Minister was delivered to Downing Street by Mr. Dennis Delderfield, in which the government was called upon to respect the wishes of the Gibraltarian people.

Last month my dad sent me a book from America, it just didn't arrive - and that's the second time the same book has been stolen.
When I complained to the post master (a "new" South African) he said I must go to the post office and complain. When I told him I was at the post office he looked at me sheeply and said nothing.
Sometimes I wish they would extend "affirmative action" to monkeys in the zoo, because I am quite sure a baboon could do a better job than most of these cretins can - as I am 100% convinced they are more intelligent.
The post office in this country boast that "90% of all mail arrives at its destination, it's just us doing our bit for you". I don't see how they can boast about that figure because if a million mails are sent in a day, that means 100,000 letters aren't being delivered because they have been stolen, and that in my book is a lot!

A supporter from South Africa has recently sent us the following most interesting press report concerning young Mr. Arthur Kemp. Kemp, it will be remembered, originally gave the impression of being a strong supporter of "S.A.Patriot" during the 1980s, but he subsequently turned State Witness at the trial of Conservative politician Clive Derby-Lewis, and then, after we revealed information which tended to prove that he was in the pay of the "new" South African security services, initiated a childish smear-campaign of lies and innuendoes against us. Although now five years old, this article from the Mail & Guardian would seem to confirm - if any further confirmation was needed - that Kemp did indeed work for the National Intelligence Service.
Hani's flight of `coincidence'

Flight SA 232 from Johannesburg to London on February 6 1993, two months before Chris Hani was assassinated, had three passengers of note the South African Communist Party leader himself; right wing journalist Arthur Kemp, who was later arrested in connection with his murder; and Inkatha Freedom Party militarist Philip Powell.
This "coincidence" was discovered by the Mail & Guardian amid allegations that Hani's assassination had been part of a plot that went beyond right wing politician Clive Derby Lewis and Polish immigrant Janusz Walus.
Kemp gave the tip off about the South African Airways passenger list to a London Sunday paper a number of weeks ago during an attempt to sell new evidence on Hani's assassination. The flight details were verified by M&G.
Kemp was not charged with the murder, but was used as a state witness in the trial he had supplied address details for the "hit list". This week, he remained mum, saying only: "I have a story to sell. I am prepared to negotiate the price."
In a letter to the M&G this week, Kemp invited the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to revisit the assassination claiming it would find nothing new as "there is nothing to hide".
Kemp, now resident in London, also denied he had been associated with the old National Intelligence Service (NIS), as claimed in the M&G last week. The allegation that he had been a source for the NIS had been confirmed by members of the police and the new National Intelligence Agency before publication. He did not deny he had earlier been with the police security branch.
SACP deputy secretary general Jeremy Cronin confirmed Hani had been on the flight, saying he had been with a delegation en route to Cuba.
Powell confirmed he had been on the same flight, saying he was on a holiday to London. He had encountered Kemp at Johannesburg International Airport before boarding, and had only realised Hani was on the same flight when he saw him at passport control in London.

OBITUARY
It was with much sadness that we recently learnt of the tragic death of Mrs. Jan Hunter, the wife of Andrew Hunter, the Conservative MP for Basingstoke.
Since entering Parliament in 1983 Andrew Hunter has proved to be a consistant friend of Ulster and, during the days of civilised rule, South Africa. During all this time his wife Jan acted as his personal secretary and was a tower of strength to him in all his work.
Our sincerest sympathies are extended to Andrew Hunter and his two children at this most distressing and traumatic time.

November 2002 edition
The result of the recent Gibraltarian referendum, when 98.97% of the voters rejected any form of joint sovereignty and sell-out to Spain, brought great joy and encouragement to all patriots in Britain and South Africa, and indeed throughout the West.
This near unanimous vote by an entire people demonstrated the unity, defiance and determination of the people of Gibraltar, and compared more than favourably to the Rhodesian referendum of 30th January 1979 (when only 14.6% of the electorate voted to continue the struggle) and the South African constitutional referenda of 1983 and 1992 (when on both occasions only about one-third voted for their nation to survive). At least the Rhodesians fought for 13 years in defence of their country, and then seemed to have little alternative other than to surrender when "stabbed in the back" by John Vorster's South African NP government, but the results of the South African plebiscites remain as inexplicable now as they did at the time.
As was stated during one of the recent pro-Gibraltar demonstrations in London: "Gibraltar is the new Rhodesia", and indeed many of those present at this demonstration had also been keen supporters of pro-Rhodesian activities 30 years earlier. Furthermore the enemies that are faced today who wish to sell-out Gibraltar are the same as those who wished to sell-out Rhodesia during the 1960s and 70s - and in the case of the odious crypto-terrorist Peter Hain one and the same person!
The result of the Gibraltarian referendum would seem to confirm that there is a completely different zeitgeist around now at the start of the 21st century than there was at the tailend of the 20th. The tide has turned.

SPRINGBOK CLUB LONDON BRANCH MEETING
The London Branch of the Springbok Club held a successful meeting in central London last month, which was addressed by Mr. Allan Robertson, the Deputy-Chairman of the Springbok Club and Chairman of the London Swinton Circle.
In a well-researched and reflective speech Mr. Robertson told how his interest in the nations of southern Africa had been ignited when he joined the "Scottish South Africa Society" which opposed sanctions against South Africa during the 1970s and 80s. He then went on to give an overview of southern African history, emphasising how the region had been subject to political manipulation a century ago just as it is today. He praised the work of Louis Botha and Jan Smuts in co-operating closely with Britain through the British Commonwealth, but then added that South Africa had no choice but to leave the Commonwealth following MacMillan's notorious "Winds of Change" speech, which heralded an awful descent into barbarism right across Africa.
He also reminded everyone of how South Africa, Rhodesia and SWA had been bulwarks for the West against the spread of Communism during the era of the Cold War, yet conversely it was sinister elements in this same West who worked for the destruction of Western civilisation in Southern Africa during the same period. Finally Mr. Robertson called on the Springbok Club to form alliances with other similar organisations both in South Africa and throughout the West to defeat the subversives in our midst.

UDI DAY DINNER
There are still a few places available for this year's Springbok Club UDI Day Dinner. Once again the details are as follows:-
The dinner will be held at a venue in central London on Saturday 16th November 2002. Assembly will take place from 18.00 hrs onwards, with the dinner itself commencing at 19.00 hrs.
The guest of honour at this function will be a leading Zimbabwe human rights campaigner who has been a leading organiser of protest demonstrations in London against the current tyrannical regime in Zimbabwe. We have decided not to disclose his precise identity at this stage as he still has family living in Zimbabwe.
The price for this dinner, which will consist of a three-course meal, will be £19.50 per head. As places will be limited they will be allocated strictly on a "first come first served" basis. SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
The next meeting of the Kent Branch of the Springbok Club will take the form of an informal pub gathering, and will be held at the "Jolly Knight" in Rochester High Street (10 minutes walk from Rochester Railway Station) during the afternoon of Saturday 30th November, from 14.00 hrs onwards. Although this will be an unofficial gathering it is hoped that the branch committee for the forthcoming year will be elected on this occasion. In order to discover where the gathering is assembled look out for the Springbok Rugby jerseys, or alternatively ask at the bar.
The London Branch of the Springbok Club will be holding a social during early December, and full details will be given in the December edition of the SCN.
The next meeting of the Chilterns Branch of the Springbok Club has been put back until early next year in order not to clash with other SC activities.
As was mentioned last month, the problems caused by an original supporter of the Lancashire Branch of the Springbok Club pulling out are still unfortunately handicapping the official launch of this branch. It is anticipated that the branch will be officially inaugurated early during 2003 however. October 2002 edition
One of the more encouraging developments since the fall of Rhodesia in 1979 has been the establishment of a number of vibrant expatriate Rhodesian organisations around the globe. Among these have been Rhodesians Worldwide, the Rhodesian Christian Group, the Rhodesian Army Association, the BSAP Association and the Flame Lily Foundation - indeed at times the list seems endless.
Those behind these movements are to be greatly congratulated, not only for keeping the Rhodie "diaspora" together and looking after the well-being of the more vulnerable of their numbers, but also - perhaps more importantly - for keeping the Rhodesian ideals alive.
It has also been most pleasing to see that a high proportion of members of these organisations still retain an interest in that piece of land between the Limpopo and the Zambezi, and have become actively involved with opposition movements seeking to remove the despot Mugabe and his ZANU-PF regime from power. As was predicted by the Save Rhodesia Campaign during the 1970s, the replacement of Rhodesia by Zimbabwe has brought nothing but death, destruction and devastation - both for Blacks and for Whites. There is indeed much truth in the comment that whereas it used to be said "Come to Rhodesia and see the ruins of Zimbabwe", now it is said "Come to Zimbabwe and see the ruins of Rhodesia".
It was therefore most astonishing to hear a supporter of one of these expat Rhodesian organisations and active campaigner against the Mugabe regime recently state that he did not regard himself as a Rhodesian, but preferred to be referred to as a "Zimbabwean". We do not wish to "name and shame" this man; he is a good and friendly person who is apparently simply naive and confused in the extreme. His wife subsequently chimed in to assert negatively that "there will never be a Rhodesia again", and had no answer when it was pointed out to her that most people said that "there will never be a free and democratic Russia again" during the dark days of the Soviet Union and the Cold War.
Of course if everyone was to adopt such a defeatist attitude then Rhodesia will definitely never be reborn - but if we were to adopt the opposite stance and have full confidence and optimism in the future then possibly, just possibly, the tyrant Mugabe will be deposed and eventually replaced by a new dispensation which will re-establish the ideals of Rhodesia.

SPRINGBOK CLUB SEPTEMBER MEETING
The Springbok Club held a very successful and enjoyable meeting in September which was addressed by Mr. Peter Ward from New York, the editor of the shortly to be published anthology of African stories entitled "Africa Par Adventure", which several members of the Springbok Club have contributed to.
Mr. Ward gave a highly enthralling and humourous talk about the history of the book project, which was accompanied by some most amusing readings from the book by one of his co-contributors.
[The Springbok Club will be stocking copies of "Africa Par Adventure" as soon as it is published, and full details about ordering copies will therefore be given in future editions of the SCN.]

The London Branch of the Springbok Club will shortly be holding their next meeting, the details of which are as follows:-

PETER FISHER
As many supporters will know, Mr. Peter Fisher, the current Chairman of the Springbok Club, has been suffering some serious health problems for the past few months which have prevented him from attending several recent Springbok Club events. Peter will be undergoing an operation next week, and we feel sure that all supporters will join with us in wishing him a full and speedy recovery, so that hopefully he will be able to resume an active role again soon.

The next meeting of the Kent Branch of the Springbok Club is still planned to be held in the Medway Towns during November, but unfortunately the next meeting of the Chilterns Branch has been put back to November as well (probably to be held in Amersham). The problems caused by an original supporter of the Lancashire Branch of the Springbok Club pulling out after initially agreeing to hold an inaugural braai at their home are still alas handicapping the official launch of this branch. It is anticipated that the branch will be officially inaugurated early next year however. PRO-GIBRALTAR DEMONSTRATIONS
A very successful pro-Gibraltar demonstration was staged outside the Spanish Embassy on Gibraltar Day (10th September) at which several dozen people were present, including several supporters of the Springbok Club. Perhaps the most encouraging feature of this demo was the constant "hootings" and "thumbs-up signs" which came from passing motorists.
A further pro-Gibraltar demonstration is planned to take place in Whitehall outside Downing Street on Thursday 7th November - the date of the referendum to be held in Gibraltar on the question of sovereignty. This protest will be held between 12 noon and 14.00 hrs, and at 13.00 hrs a letter addressed to the Prime Minister will be delivered to 10 Downing Street calling upon him to accept the decision of the people of Gibraltar in this regard. All supporters are encouraged to attend this event.

"I am writing because I was wondering if you could help me locate someone in South Africa, or at least point me in the right direction. In 1997 my eldest son was murdered in Carltonville, South Africa, and as a result myself and my two remaining sons returned to the U.K just over a year later. I was divorced from the boys' father, and as a result of leaving South Africa they have lost contact with him. This has caused them even more trauma, for having suffered the loss of their brother and having experienced massive culture change due to leaving South Africa, they now have the added problem of having no news from their father. His name is Ian William McPherson, and his date of birth was 25.11.41. He is retired from East Driefontein Goldmine, and was last known to be living in Carltonville. His mother living in the U.K. would also like to make contact with him as his father passed away last year. We would all greatly appreciate any assistance that could be given."

TRACK FAILURE
Sirs,
As an ex-immigrant to South Africa (16 years) I regularly receive the SCN and really enjoy them, as mostly I can agree with the contents. In your latest issue you give your opinions about the Commenwealth Games. I used to be an athlete myself during our stay in SA, even have Natal colours for Athletics, and was very involved in the administation at the time, and of course still keenly follow events. I also have numerous friends I keep in contact with, and had several young athletes staying with us in order to help further their careers. If you have the wrong colour of your skin you have a problem in today's associations in SA, and I think that applies for just about all sports. At least athletics is an individualist sport and if a White 100 metres runner wins his race they cannot put that under the table. But when it comes to selecting teams they have to be 4-times better to get in (especially the borderline cases!!!) and they get almost no support, be it financially or medical-wise, from their association. The son of friends of ours is a good athlete and was also at Manchester. Their 4 x 100 m relay team (who won the silver medal at the Edmonton World Championships last year) did not even get through the qualification rounds. My opinion is that they did not have the support for proper preparations for such an event.
During the past two weeks we had 3 South Africans here for business and also discussed the sports issue. The rugby and cricket teams are suffering under the so-called "Quota-System" where a certain amount of the team members have to be Black, and in these sports they are not necessarily the best in the teams, so no wonder they are doing lousy internationally. Apparantly their respective associations wanted to change back to the best players being selected, but there was a general outcry in SA from all sorts of organisations, so the system stays with the results all can see. It is absolutely not surprising that the medal table of the South Africans turned out the way it did.

COLONIAL COMPARISONS
Sirs,
I am at a loss for words over the latest news from Rhodesia. It seems that the forces of evil are running rampant at present.
No matter what led the remaining 3,000 White families to remain or what their views were, deep and long forgotten memories and insecurities arise within me when I see pictures of White families in rural settings besieged by hundreds of Blacks.
On a positive note, I did receive the latest SCN and I was pleased to read mention of the [real] South African flags which appeared on stickers at the Empire and Commonwealth Games. Again, though, it is very disheartening to read of the numbers of farm families who have been murdered by the ANC and their supporters, and I am horrified to see the news of what some of the savages have been doing to young girls in South Africa to resolve their own self-inflicted Aids problems.
I was chatting to a (White) Kenyan yesterday afternoon and he saw absolutely no real hope for Africa. Only the return of the White man, ruling with fairness, integrity and force, could start to solve Africa's problems. They say that it is always darkest before the dawn, so I do hope that this turns out to be true.

Thanks for the latest Springbok Cyber-Newsletter. Trust me to be critical again!
You stated that "an oafish spectator ran onto the pitch and seriously assaulted the highly-respected referee, Mr. David McHugh of Ireland. The perpetrator of this foul act may have been White, but has any incident better symbolised South Africa's descent from first-world civilisation to third-world savagery?" This question begs a response.
I agree that Piet Van Niekerk was oafish. He was probably intoxicated as well at the time. But the referee, David McHugh, was far from "highly-respected" by the crowd, including a Kiwi commentator. McHugh made some really bad decisions during the game, which affected both teams but more so the Springboks, as he nullified two Springbok tries, and awarded the All Blacks a try that they probably wouldn't have scored anyway. I think you will find that McHugh's career as an international referee will suffer as a result of his bad refereeing. Correct me when the next World Cup comes along, if I am wrong.
I think what Van Niekerk did on the field in Durban was stupid and irresponsible. But he is one individual, and you find such idiots in all societies. What he did pales in comparison to the way New Zealanders behaved when the Springboks were in NZ in 1981. Hordes of them swarmed all over the pitch and attempted to assault the South African players. They sprinkled the field with metal nails and tacks, bombed the players from the air with flour, and generally behaved in a most uncivilised manner. Yet you fail to mention this at all in the SCN.
The misbehaviour of sports fans is certainly not generally confined to non-Whites - take English soccer supporters for example. We tend to think that Whites are civilised, therefore they should know how to behave better. One problem that racists have is to condone what Blacks do on the basis of their being lesser humans, whereas Whites are judged by civilised standards. The great missionary David Livingstone displayed such tendencies, as did philanthropist Albert Schweitzer. Lord Soames, while interim Governor of Zimbabwe-Rhodesia in 1980, condoned Mugabe's party's acts of terrorism and gross intimidation during the elections by saying, "this is Africa". No wonder Britain and the rest of the so-called West is impotent in dealing with the despotic rulers of Africa when they adopt this attitude.
Of course you know the definition of a White racist - a person who hates Blacks more than necessary. And a Black racist? There's no such thing!
Stay well and keep writing. The SCNs are thought-provoking, even if I seem to be critical of certain things you say.

ROGUES GALLERY
Alas the last month has seen a resumption of problems encountered on the Internet - what is colloquially referred to as "cyber-terrorism".
We have received two obscene and highly offensive e-mails from a couple of individuals named Pierre Burger and Gordon Waring. Judging from the e-mail "headers" on his message Burger appears to be connected to the South African State President's Office, so therefore is probably a Coloured apparachik with some form of chip on his shoulder. Waring of course has caused us problems in the past; he claims to have lived in both the UK and the US, before returning to South Africa to live in Somerset West where he claims that life is far preferrable to anywhere else he has lived - thus flying in the face of every other report which we have received from those still based in the "New" South Africa! One wonders, however, why if Waring is so sure of his ground in this respect he has to resort to childish four-letter-words in order to make his point?
We have also recently been inundated with unsolicited e-mails from an individual going under the odd name of Greg Weilo. Initially his postings were of an anti-Semitic nature, but more recently they have contained articles advocating the deranged idea that "the White Race must be abolished". It would appear therefore that Weilo is some form of Islamic fanatic.
We don't know whether these latest trouble-makers have any connection to those sad and sick malcontents who have caused us problems in the past - Kemp, Tuohy/Strickland (thought to be one and the same person) and Plaistowe - though the phraseology used by Burger seems to be very similar to that of the latter of these. Be this as it may, we would still be most grateful to receive any information which anyone may know about these trouble-making characters concerned.

OBITUARY
It was with much sadness that we recently learnt of the death of Cyril Foley.
Cyril was one of the earliest subscribers to the SCN, and was a great friend and colleague of Nick Maine, with whom he was attempting to establish a branch of the Springbok Club on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia,
Cyril had run a computer business in South Africa, and had a certain amount of training with the South African Defence Force where he had learnt to fly and did many parachute jumps, in one of which he unfortunately became entangled and was seriously hurt. On coming to Australia he again became involved with computers and did voluntary work with the Air-Sea Rescue Service. About 4 years ago he received news that a car in which his son and daughter were travelling in South Africa was attacked when they stopped at robots and his daughter was killed. He sunk lower and lower as a result of this news - a great brain went to waste.
Our sincerest sympathises are extended to Cyril's family and friends at this sad time.

A further pro-Gibraltar demonstration is planned to take place in Whitehall outside Downing Street on Thursday 7th November - the date of the referendum to be held in Gibraltar on the question of sovereignty. This protest will be held between 12 noon and 14.00 hrs, and at 13.00 hrs a letter addressed to the Prime Minister will be delivered to 10 Downing Street calling upon him to accept the decision of the people of Gibraltar in this regard. All supporters are encouraged to attend this event.

"I am writing because I was wondering if you could help me locate someone in South Africa, or at least point me in the right direction. In 1997 my eldest son was murdered in Carltonville, South Africa, and as a result myself and my two remaining sons returned to the U.K just over a year later. I was divorced from the boys' father, and as a result of leaving South Africa they have lost contact with him. This has caused them even more trauma, for having suffered the loss of their brother and having experienced massive culture change due to leaving South Africa, they now have the added problem of having no news from their father. His name is Ian William McPherson, and his date of birth was 25.11.41. He is retired from East Driefontein Goldmine, and was last known to be living in Carltonville. His mother living in the U.K. would also like to make contact with him as his father passed away last year. We would all greatly appreciate any assistance that could be given."

TRACK FAILURE
Sirs,
As an ex-immigrant to South Africa (16 years) I regularly receive the SCN and really enjoy them, as mostly I can agree with the contents. In your latest issue you give your opinions about the Commenwealth Games. I used to be an athlete myself during our stay in SA, even have Natal colours for Athletics, and was very involved in the administation at the time, and of course still keenly follow events. I also have numerous friends I keep in contact with, and had several young athletes staying with us in order to help further their careers. If you have the wrong colour of your skin you have a problem in today's associations in SA, and I think that applies for just about all sports. At least athletics is an individualist sport and if a White 100 metres runner wins his race they cannot put that under the table. But when it comes to selecting teams they have to be 4-times better to get in (especially the borderline cases!!!) and they get almost no support, be it financially or medical-wise, from their association. The son of friends of ours is a good athlete and was also at Manchester. Their 4 x 100 m relay team (who won the silver medal at the Edmonton World Championships last year) did not even get through the qualification rounds. My opinion is that they did not have the support for proper preparations for such an event.
During the past two weeks we had 3 South Africans here for business and also discussed the sports issue. The rugby and cricket teams are suffering under the so-called "Quota-System" where a certain amount of the team members have to be Black, and in these sports they are not necessarily the best in the teams, so no wonder they are doing lousy internationally. Apparantly their respective associations wanted to change back to the best players being selected, but there was a general outcry in SA from all sorts of organisations, so the system stays with the results all can see. It is absolutely not surprising that the medal table of the South Africans turned out the way it did.

COLONIAL COMPARISONS
Sirs,
I am at a loss for words over the latest news from Rhodesia. It seems that the forces of evil are running rampant at present.
No matter what led the remaining 3,000 White families to remain or what their views were, deep and long forgotten memories and insecurities arise within me when I see pictures of White families in rural settings besieged by hundreds of Blacks.
On a positive note, I did receive the latest SCN and I was pleased to read mention of the [real] South African flags which appeared on stickers at the Empire and Commonwealth Games. Again, though, it is very disheartening to read of the numbers of farm families who have been murdered by the ANC and their supporters, and I am horrified to see the news of what some of the savages have been doing to young girls in South Africa to resolve their own self-inflicted Aids problems.
I was chatting to a (White) Kenyan yesterday afternoon and he saw absolutely no real hope for Africa. Only the return of the White man, ruling with fairness, integrity and force, could start to solve Africa's problems. They say that it is always darkest before the dawn, so I do hope that this turns out to be true.

Thanks for the latest Springbok Cyber-Newsletter. Trust me to be critical again!
You stated that "an oafish spectator ran onto the pitch and seriously assaulted the highly-respected referee, Mr. David McHugh of Ireland. The perpetrator of this foul act may have been White, but has any incident better symbolised South Africa's descent from first-world civilisation to third-world savagery?" This question begs a response.
I agree that Piet Van Niekerk was oafish. He was probably intoxicated as well at the time. But the referee, David McHugh, was far from "highly-respected" by the crowd, including a Kiwi commentator. McHugh made some really bad decisions during the game, which affected both teams but more so the Springboks, as he nullified two Springbok tries, and awarded the All Blacks a try that they probably wouldn't have scored anyway. I think you will find that McHugh's career as an international referee will suffer as a result of his bad refereeing. Correct me when the next World Cup comes along, if I am wrong.
I think what Van Niekerk did on the field in Durban was stupid and irresponsible. But he is one individual, and you find such idiots in all societies. What he did pales in comparison to the way New Zealanders behaved when the Springboks were in NZ in 1981. Hordes of them swarmed all over the pitch and attempted to assault the South African players. They sprinkled the field with metal nails and tacks, bombed the players from the air with flour, and generally behaved in a most uncivilised manner. Yet you fail to mention this at all in the SCN.
The misbehaviour of sports fans is certainly not generally confined to non-Whites - take English soccer supporters for example. We tend to think that Whites are civilised, therefore they should know how to behave better. One problem that racists have is to condone what Blacks do on the basis of their being lesser humans, whereas Whites are judged by civilised standards. The great missionary David Livingstone displayed such tendencies, as did philanthropist Albert Schweitzer. Lord Soames, while interim Governor of Zimbabwe-Rhodesia in 1980, condoned Mugabe's party's acts of terrorism and gross intimidation during the elections by saying, "this is Africa". No wonder Britain and the rest of the so-called West is impotent in dealing with the despotic rulers of Africa when they adopt this attitude.
Of course you know the definition of a White racist - a person who hates Blacks more than necessary. And a Black racist? There's no such thing!
Stay well and keep writing. The SCNs are thought-provoking, even if I seem to be critical of certain things you say.

ROGUES GALLERY
Alas the last month has seen a resumption of problems encountered on the Internet - what is colloquially referred to as "cyber-terrorism".
We have received two obscene and highly offensive e-mails from a couple of individuals named Pierre Burger and Gordon Waring. Judging from the e-mail "headers" on his message Burger appears to be connected to the South African State President's Office, so therefore is probably a Coloured apparachik with some form of chip on his shoulder. Waring of course has caused us problems in the past; he claims to have lived in both the UK and the US, before returning to South Africa to live in Somerset West where he claims that life is far preferrable to anywhere else he has lived - thus flying in the face of every other report which we have received from those still based in the "New" South Africa! One wonders, however, why if Waring is so sure of his ground in this respect he has to resort to childish four-letter-words in order to make his point?
We have also recently been inundated with unsolicited e-mails from an individual going under the odd name of Greg Weilo. Initially his postings were of an anti-Semitic nature, but more recently they have contained articles advocating the deranged idea that "the White Race must be abolished". It would appear therefore that Weilo is some form of Islamic fanatic.
We don't know whether these latest trouble-makers have any connection to those sad and sick malcontents who have caused us problems in the past - Kemp, Tuohy/Strickland (thought to be one and the same person) and Plaistowe - though the phraseology used by Burger seems to be very similar to that of the latter of these. Be this as it may, we would still be most grateful to receive any information which anyone may know about these trouble-making characters concerned.

OBITUARY
It was with much sadness that we recently learnt of the death of Cyril Foley.
Cyril was one of the earliest subscribers to the SCN, and was a great friend and colleague of Nick Maine, with whom he was attempting to establish a branch of the Springbok Club on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia,
Cyril had run a computer business in South Africa, and had a certain amount of training with the South African Defence Force where he had learnt to fly and did many parachute jumps, in one of which he unfortunately became entangled and was seriously hurt. On coming to Australia he again became involved with computers and did voluntary work with the Air-Sea Rescue Service. About 4 years ago he received news that a car in which his son and daughter were travelling in South Africa was attacked when they stopped at robots and his daughter was killed. He sunk lower and lower as a result of this news - a great brain went to waste.
Our sincerest sympathises are extended to Cyril's family and friends at this sad time.
