The recent overwhelming decision by the Swedish people to keep the Krona as their national currency and to reject the Euro was not only good news for the Swedish people themselves, but also for all who believe in the authority of the great European nation states. It was furthermore further proof of how the political pendulum has swung away from internationalism and towards Western national power over the past few years.
In spite of predictions that the referendum result would be close, the final margin was actually a decisive 8%. Many Leftist commentators claimed that the assassination of Swedish foreign minister Anna Lindt shortly before the referendum had no effect upon the outcome, but this of course is complete rubbish. There was undoubtedly a massive sympathy "Yes" vote for Anna Lindt - and the victory margin for the "No" campaign would without question have been even larger if it had not been for her death.
Although it is commonly believed that Sweden - along with other Scandinavian countries - is a very Left-wing society, the recent referendum result proves that this is not the case. This does not really surprise us however, for when "S.A.Patriot" was published in South Africa itself we had more subscribers from Sweden than from any other European country (excluding the UK). Furthermore, Denmark had earlier decisively rejected the Euro in a national referendum, and - smallscale though it may have been - played their part alongside Britain and the United States in the liberation of Iraq.
Another interesting but little known fact is that in spite of never being one of the major Imperial powers, Sweden still possessed 10 overseas colonies at various times dating back to the 18th century. With the recent Swedish referendum result being yet another nail in the coffin of European federalism the nation states of Europe must once again start to look towards their global responsibilities and destinies, and when that time comes Sweden - as well as Denmark - must also be rewarded with their places in the sun.

SPRINGBOK CLUB LONDON BRANCH SOCIAL GATHERING
The London Branch of the Springbok Club held a most enjoyable and highly successful social get-together at Richmond last month.
Assembling at the famous "Orange Tree" pub there was a very good turnout of supporters, and after a couple of hours socialising in a convivial atmosphere many of the party then set off on a stroll along the banks of the Thames, witnessing what must be some of the most magnificent scenery that can be observed in the capital.
The London Branch plans to hold a further social event over the Yuletide period, to be followed by a boat trip along the Thames at Richmond in the spring.

SPRINGBOK CLUB OCTOBER MEETING
The Springbok Club will be holding an important and interesting meeting at the end of October, which will be addressed by Mrs. Maryna Blomerus, the founding Chairperson of UKkasie and the InterAfrikaanse Trust. The details are as follows:-

Time : 19.00 hrs for 19.30 hrs.
Venue : The MORPETH ARMS (the upstairs Function Room), 58 Millbank, Westminster, London SW1 (close to the Tate Gallery and Vauxhall Bridge - nearest tube station: Pimlico).
Maryna Blomerus was born at Middelburg in the Cape Province, and studied accountancy at UNISA. Married with two young daughters she has lived in the UK for 10 years, and in 2001 founded UKkasie, a cultural organisation for expat Afrikaners living in the UK. The organisation holds quarterly UKkasiefees featuring visiting Afrikaner singers and musicians, as well as hosting stalls marketing various South African-orientated products and services. So great has been the success of the organisation that similar structures have been founded in Canada, New Zealand and Belgium, which now form the InterAfrikaanse Trust. In her speech Maryna will talk about the foundation and growth of both UKkasie and the InterAfrikaanse Trust, as well as their current campaign in conjunction with the Freedom Front to extend voting rights to South Africans living in exile.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB ACTIVITIES
On 15th November the Springbok Club will be holding its annual UDI Day Dinner at a venue in central London when a leading member of the last Rhodesian Government will be Guest of Honour. Full details will be given in November's SCN.
On 16th December the Springbok Club will be holding its traditional Day of the Vow Commemorations, again in central London, when the movement will be welcoming a prominent British MP as Guest of Honour.

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH ACTIVITIES
As well as the two planned London Branch activities mentioned above, the Kent Branch of the Springbok Club is planning another pub-gathering in Rochester towards the end of November.
Plans are now well advanced for the official launch of the Northern Ireland Branch of the Springbok Club, and an official Sussex Branch is also about to be established. If you live in either of these places and would like to become actively involved please let us know.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE MEETING
The London Swinton Circle held a most important and well-attended meeting last month which was addressed by Jeffrey Donaldon MP (UUP, Lagan Valley) in which he explained his reasons for resigning the UUP parliamentary whip, and gave details about the current problems being faced by the Unionist community in Northern Ireland. He finished on a very optimistic note however, emphasising that the Republican birthrate was no longer higher than the Unionist birthrate, and telling how increasing numbers of Unionists were returning to their previous homes in the western counties of Ulster.
The London Swinton Circle will be holding a further most interesting meeting early next week, the details of which are as follows:-

Guest Speaker : Mr. Frank Maloney
Frank Maloney is a former amateur flyweight boxing champion, but rose to prominence as the manager of many successful British professional boxers. He will be the official UKIP candidate in next year's London mayoral election, and he will give his views regarding the problems being faced by Londoners on such matters as non-White immigration, the cost of living, transport, the threat of terrorism and "politically correct" policing.

Mr. MALCOLM WREN
In the August edition of the SCN we had the sad duty of explaining why the Springbok Club was forced to withdraw all support from Mr. Malcolm Wren's "Soul Walk" across southern England.
There we assumed, and certainly hoped, the whole sorry saga would end. Unfortunately, however, we have recently been informed that Mr. Wren has subsequently made a posting to a certain Internet message-board in which he not only fails to apologise for all the ill-feeling and embarrassment which he generated, but even tries to pin blame for all the problems which befell his "Walk" onto the victims of his actions.
We will not bore readers by going into detailed rebuttals of all the charges made by Mr. Wren in this factional posting of his, but there is one downright lie which he made which cannot pass without comment. He claims that the Chairman of the Springbok Club has accused him of undertaking the exercise "for personal recognition" (indeed in a hurtful personal e-mail he even claims of the Chairman "You say I am only doing this to impress the people of Orania"). There is of course not a scintilla of truth in this bizarre accusation of Mr. Wren. We have never stated that he undertook the "Walk" for "personal recognition" - and most certainly we have never mentioned the Orania community in this context! Our reasons for withdrawing support were solely and unambiguously as stated in the August edition of the SCN, namely:-
1) The total abuse of the free hospitality which was provided by the owner of the hotel in Gloucestershire where Mr. & Mrs. Wren and their party stayed on the night before the "Walk" began, which caused her great distress.
2) The arbitrary alteration of venues for overnight stops along the route with no attempts being made to inform the Springbok Club or anybody else in advance about these changes. This resulted in at least two supporters (probably more) going to the wrong venues in order to rendezvous with Mr. Wren.
3) The arrogant rejection of all offers to assist in the obtaining of media publicity and a venue for a final rendezvous point in Gravesend by Mrs. Wren.
4) The rude last-minute cancellation of the lunchtime refreshment break which we had organised at the house of a personal friend in north-west Kent after preparations had already commenced.
The reason for Mr. Wren's sudden antagonism towards those who were trying to assist him, and the reason why he failed to obtain any media publicity in the UK remain a complete mystery. A clue may however lie in a further comment which he makes in his factional posting, when he states "En-route, I had numerous phone calls and text messages from people in the UK .... Almost all came from the BNP (British National Party) members .... and I thank each one of them." (Indeed prominent publicity for Mr. Wren's "Walk" evidently also appeared on the BNP's web-site). As many readers may know, the BNP is in reality an overtly neo-fascist organisation, and this may be why the British media wouldn't touch Mr. Wren with a bargepole. There have also been a couple of attempts by BNP-types to infiltrate the Springbok Club in the past, but when their affiliations became known they were "sent packing", which has probably made the BNP very antagonistic towards the Springbok Club.
We will therefore leave it to readers to make up their own minds about Mr. Wren and his true motivations.

Richard & Lynn Blyth had four children named Wendy, Michael, Christopher & Caroline. They were the owners/managers of "Rivermead Manor", a guest farm near Kokstad, Natal, on the South African/Transkei border until about 1993. They were last seen in a resort on the East Cape coast near Port Elizabeth in about 1995. Richard was originally from Hampshire but Lynn was a South African.

The recent attacks upon the the Chairman of the Springbok Club on the CensorBugBear web-site, aptly named I think, by Wren and his minions were a disgrace. They improperly called for his expulsion from the Club of which he was a key founder member. Wren is not a member of the Springbok Club and is in no position to involve himself in its internal processes.

THE WRETCHED WREN (2)
Sir,
Now Malcolm Wren's Soul Walk. You really would have done well to steer very clear of this scheme as he was not a member of the Club and his reasons were all a bit vague, as he was not really sure, I'm sure, why he was actually doing the walk.
When I heard the full details of how he and his supporters behaved, especially at places where they were kind enough to give them free bed and board, I lost all sympathy for him. He reminded me of way back in the 1950s when I had a wife and family and we had the odd (some very odd) characters turning up at the house, politicals who we used to call laughingly the "Wandering Storm Troopers" to scrounge a meal and a bed. Their excuse was they couldn't get a job because of their politics, but usually because they were workshy. Anyway my wife fed them, sewed on the odd button, washed a pair of socks and they went on their way next day with a few shillings I could spare out of my bus driver's £8 a week wage.
But Wren's attitude of complaining about his room then turning up with supporters who also expected the "free" treatment, including steak with breakfast and no bill for their drinks, what a lot of bums - especially as there was a complimentary bottle of South African wine in the room! And finally to end the "Walk" one day in a taxi, which really does rub it in doesn't it?
Wren really has some nerve, even if I was doing something for the best cause in the world I'd never have the nerve (or courage) to ask for free food, bed and drinks. If I was offered any of these I would go out of my way to show my appreciation, not be rude, even if the bed was not up to my expectations.

ROGUES GALLERY
We have recently heard the most disturbing and almost unbelievable rumour that Mr. Carl Werth has joined the ANC.
Carl Werth was leader of the Conservative Party in Natal during the late 1980s and early 1990s, and was also a close friend of the Patriotic Forum (which can be considered as the predecessor of the Springbok Club). He actually addressed the Patriotic Forum in 1989, when he gave a masterful and indeed inspiring speech in which he emphasised how, in spite of paying "lip service" to the support of Black majority rule in South Africa, the powers-that-be in the West actually hoped for continuing White civilised rule, as they realised this was the only way of preserving order and good governance in that most strategic part of the world.
After the ANC gained control of the country following de Klerk's sell-out Werth was surprisingly appointed South African ambassador to Singapore (this being part of the ANC's initial scheme to hand out "perks" to members of all political parties - the CP's Tom Langley was also appointed ambassador to the Czech Republic at the same time), and his acceptance of this post raised many misgivings. After his return to South Africa, however, Werth joined the Democratic Party, which wasn't really surprising in view of the decline of the CP and the DP's significant move to the right of the political spectrum - but if true his subsequent defection to the enemy itself - the ANC - defies comprehesion.
If confirmed to be correct then Werth becomes the second previous right-wing activist in South Africa to have betrayed his principles, for it was exposed a few years ago that Arthur Kemp had also sold-out to the ANC.
Can anyone confirm this story about Carl Werth we wonder, and does anyone know of any connection between him and Kemp?

It was probably predictable that now the ANC regime has full control over the country that SABC would devote a whole days' programmes to celebrating the 85th birthday of that godfather of terrorism, "Nelson" Mandela.
The crimes of Mandela which led to his sentence of life imprisonment in 1963 are well documented - his direct involvement in the Johannesburg Railway Station bombing which resulted in the killing and maiming of dozens of innocent people, and being caught red-handed at Rivonia with (to use his own words) "enough explosives to blow up half of Johannesburg". But what is far more damning about Mandela is what happened to South Africa after he was handed power in 1994. Law and Order broke down completely, and as a result South Africa became the "murder capital of the world". Thousands of innocent citizens died as a result of the mayhem, with non-Whites probably suffering worse than Whites. More sinister and heart-rending, however, has been the systematic terrorist-style murder campaign against the White South African farming community. Over 1600 members of the farming community have been slaughtered since Mandela was handed power in 1994, often in the most savage fashion, and often with nothing being stolen. This has accurately been described as a genocide campaign against White South African farmers, and there is much evidence to suggest that this has been orchestrated from higher levels.
There are those who claim that our detestation of Mandela is simply because he is Black. This is not true; it is purely because he is an unreconstructed terrorist. Our detestation is equally strong regarding White terrorists of the IRA and Baader-Meinhof varieties. Furthermore, in the Southern Hemisphere colonial context perhaps the closest comparison to Mandela is the 19th century Australian terrorist Ned Kelly, who of course was also White. Like Kelly Mandela developed a "chip on his shoulder" against the state in which he lived because of his own inadequacies. Like Kelly Mandela vented his hatred against ordinary upholders of law and order and innocent civilians. Like Kelly Mandela was prepared to enact the most sadistic terror tactics against those who he irrationally perceived as his enemies. Here the comparison ends however, for the Australian judiciary rightfully sentenced the terrorist Kelly to death, whereas the more liberal South African judiciary allowed Mandela to live. Many claim that by hanging Kelly the Australian authorities simply turned him into a sick cult-hero - but hasn't the terrorist Mandela also become a sick cult-hero even in spite of being allowed to live?
Few can argue that South Africa - and indeed the world - would be a far better place today if Mandela had received his just deserts for all his terrorist crimes in 1963, and a lot of innocent people who have subsequently been killed would still be alive today as a result - Black as well as White. South Africans would also have been spared the obscenity of a day's programmes on SABC spent glorifying terrorism.

SPRINGBOK CLUB EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING
At the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Springbok Club which was called last month a number of important decisions were taken.
The resignation of Mr. Robert Shipley from the Executive Committee was unanimously approved, though great pleasure was also expressed at the fact that he would remain as Chairman of the Kent Branch of the Springbok Club. Mr. Raymond Simpson was then unanimously elected to take his place on the Executive Committee.
In view of the above change certain other movements in official positions became necessary, and as a result the Executive Committee of the Springbok Club now consists of the following:-

A number of other decisions were then made on the matters of fund-raising, production of publicity material and branch development (with particular reference to the encouraging news about the planned establishment of a new branch in Northern Ireland).

SPRINGBOK CLUB LONDON BRANCH SOCIAL GATHERING
The London (Capital) Branch of The Springbok Club will be holding a social gathering later this month. The details are as follows:-
Date : Sunday 21st September 2003.
Venue : The ORANGE TREE, Richmond, Surrey. (Nearest railway station: Richmond, on both the District Line and mainlines. Turn right after leaving the station - the Orange Tree is then on the left-hand side of the road, less than 5 minutes away).
Time : The gathering will take place informally in the pub between 12:00 noon and 14:00 hrs for drinks and convivial conversation. Afterwards, weather permitting and depending on the preferences of those present, a trip to nearby Richmond Park or along the Thames will take place, before returning to the pub for more of the same.
The London (Capital) Branch extends a warm invitation to all to attend this event, and hope and look forward to being able to see all who can make it.

PHILIP BENWELL CAMPAIGN
Philip Benwell MBE, the Chairman of the Australian Constitutional Monarchy League, is mounting a campaign in Australia, Canada and New Zealand opposing the European Constitution on the basis that it has the potential to interfere with the sovereignty of these Commonwealth countries. He will be travelling to the UK next April primarily to encourage expatriates in the UK to be vocal in opposition to the European Union. No.58 : Mr. WALTER HOLLOWAY of Poole.
Walter Holloway was active with a number of pro-Rhodesian and pro-South African organisations in the Medway Towns during the 1970s, and was also an early supporter of S.A.Patriot after the magazine was founded in 1980. During the early 1980s he moved to Poole in Dorset and remained in regular correspondence for a few years, but then communications inexplicably ceased. We have reason to believe that he is no longer resident at his last known address in Poole (7 Symes Road, Hamworthy), but a number of former colleagues would very much like to be able to make contact with him again.

BUSINESS FLIGHTS
Sir,
I had not been in South Africa for 11 years, but felt it was time to go and have a look myself once again. I am of the opinion that it is good to get first hand information, which is possibly not really possible in 3 weeks. So my report was simply what my feelings were during the trip and from what we heard.
I do not agree that all this business development had been planned already during the eighties, in my opinion it is simply a flight of established businesses and banks from the inner cities. They could not find qualified staff anymore who were prepared to work in the towns, so they closed their offices there and moved to the outskirts. Urban development in Umhlanga Ridge, just over the road from the Sharks Board down to the Freeway apparantly is mainly occupied by Indians. Huge business development as well across the Freeway from Alexandra on the Outer Ring Road is a similar situation. Industrial quarters like Kew, etc. have been abandoned as it was totally unsafe for people to go to work there. And the inner city of Johannesburg, with the exception of the financial district (stock exchange area!) which is the best protected place in the whole of South Africa, has also completely slummed up and businesses have moved to the outskirts. Two weeks ago we had friends of ours visiting who told us a few very funny stories on what is happening in some places in the north west of Randburg like Kya Sands, where even the better off squatters on their borders are teaming up with the tennants of Kya Sands properties to form vigliante guarding. Ever since they are working together the burglaries have come down by a high percentage. I am afraid that you are probably very right with your anticipation that future development will slow down tremendously to a little trinkle.

ROGUES GALLERY
It has not been uncommon for us to receive antagonistic e-mails from those who oppose our aims and objectives, most of which come clearly from agents of the ANC and ZANU/PF regimes.
Although we hadn't received any such hostile e-mails for several months now, during this past month we've received a fresh batch of such antagonistic mailings from seemingly two separate sources - though in view of the timing and the similar styles of writing we somehow think they are linked.
The first, giving the e-mail address of MistaOrgazmatron@aol.com, was from someone going by the name of Mwana Wevhu who claimed to be an opponent of Mugabe, but who castigated us for our support of the erstwhile Rhodesia (without giving any reason why this was wrong). When we politely wrote back to Mr. Wevhu, however, our e-mail "bounced", thus suggesting that it may have been a completely phoney set-up.
The second source was anonymous however, and the e-mail address given was realtories@btopenworld.com. Their e-mails contained a number of direct attacks on the Springbok Club and "conservative circles" in general, as well as forwarding some bizarre extreme left-wing material. In this instance our replies didn't "bounce" however, although we received no subsequent responses from the anonymous individual concerned. The weird thing about the e-mail prefix used in this case, however, was that it could be translated as "Real Tories", the slang term for the British Conservative Party - which of course is the last thing which these warped individuals evidently represent!
We wonder therefore whether anyone knows anything further about who might be behind these weird e-mail addresses?

OBITUARY
PROFESSOR ESMOND WRIGHT
Esmond Wright, who died last month aged 87, was one of the leading British academic experts on American History. He also won a famous by-election for the Conservative Party in the Glasgow Pollok constituency in 1967, thus proving that the city is not necessarily a "no-go" area for right-of-centre political parties as is commonly assumed.
Once in Parliament Esmond Wright formed a close bond with Enoch Powell, and not only because of their common academic background (they were then the only two professors in Parliament). Both were opposed to Britain's entry into the European Economic Community, and both were keen Atlanticists, seeing the "open seas" as a more viable and natural alternative to European entrapment.
Of more particular interest is that Esmond Wright went on to become principal of Swinton College, an institution from which today's London Swinton Circle traces its roots. We mourn the passing of this great patriot.

September 2003 edition
It was probably predictable that now the ANC regime has full control over the country that SABC would devote a whole days' programmes to celebrating the 85th birthday of that godfather of terrorism, "Nelson" Mandela.
The crimes of Mandela which led to his sentence of life imprisonment in 1963 are well documented - his direct involvement in the Johannesburg Railway Station bombing which resulted in the killing and maiming of dozens of innocent people, and being caught red-handed at Rivonia with (to use his own words) "enough explosives to blow up half of Johannesburg". But what is far more damning about Mandela is what happened to South Africa after he was handed power in 1994. Law and Order broke down completely, and as a result South Africa became the "murder capital of the world". Thousands of innocent citizens died as a result of the mayhem, with non-Whites probably suffering worse than Whites. More sinister and heart-rending, however, has been the systematic terrorist-style murder campaign against the White South African farming community. Over 1600 members of the farming community have been slaughtered since Mandela was handed power in 1994, often in the most savage fashion, and often with nothing being stolen. This has accurately been described as a genocide campaign against White South African farmers, and there is much evidence to suggest that this has been orchestrated from higher levels.
There are those who claim that our detestation of Mandela is simply because he is Black. This is not true; it is purely because he is an unreconstructed terrorist. Our detestation is equally strong regarding White terrorists of the IRA and Baader-Meinhof varieties. Furthermore, in the Southern Hemisphere colonial context perhaps the closest comparison to Mandela is the 19th century Australian terrorist Ned Kelly, who of course was also White. Like Kelly Mandela developed a "chip on his shoulder" against the state in which he lived because of his own inadequacies. Like Kelly Mandela vented his hatred against ordinary upholders of law and order and innocent civilians. Like Kelly Mandela was prepared to enact the most sadistic terror tactics against those who he irrationally perceived as his enemies. Here the comparison ends however, for the Australian judiciary rightfully sentenced the terrorist Kelly to death, whereas the more liberal South African judiciary allowed Mandela to live. Many claim that by hanging Kelly the Australian authorities simply turned him into a sick cult-hero - but hasn't the terrorist Mandela also become a sick cult-hero even in spite of being allowed to live?
Few can argue that South Africa - and indeed the world - would be a far better place today if Mandela had received his just deserts for all his terrorist crimes in 1963, and a lot of innocent people who have subsequently been killed would still be alive today as a result - Black as well as White. South Africans would also have been spared the obscenity of a day's programmes on SABC spent glorifying terrorism.

SPRINGBOK CLUB EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING
At the Extraordinary General Meeting of the Springbok Club which was called last month a number of important decisions were taken.
The resignation of Mr. Robert Shipley from the Executive Committee was unanimously approved, though great pleasure was also expressed at the fact that he would remain as Chairman of the Kent Branch of the Springbok Club. Mr. Raymond Simpson was then unanimously elected to take his place on the Executive Committee.
In view of the above change certain other movements in official positions became necessary, and as a result the Executive Committee of the Springbok Club now consists of the following:-

SPRINGBOK CLUB LONDON BRANCH SOCIAL GATHERING
The London (Capital) Branch of The Springbok Club will be holding a social gathering later this month. The details are as follows:-
Date : Sunday 21st September 2003.
Venue : The ORANGE TREE, Richmond, Surrey. (Nearest railway station: Richmond, on both the District Line and mainlines. Turn right after leaving the station - the Orange Tree is then on the left-hand side of the road, less than 5 minutes away).
Time : The gathering will take place informally in the pub between 12:00 noon and 14:00 hrs for drinks and convivial conversation. Afterwards, weather permitting and depending on the preferences of those present, a trip to nearby Richmond Park or along the Thames will take place, before returning to the pub for more of the same.

PHILIP BENWELL CAMPAIGN
Philip Benwell MBE, the Chairman of the Australian Constitutional Monarchy League, is mounting a campaign in Australia, Canada and New Zealand opposing the European Constitution on the basis that it has the potential to interfere with the sovereignty of these Commonwealth countries. He will be travelling to the UK next April primarily to encourage expatriates in the UK to be vocal in opposition to the European Union. No.58 : Mr. WALTER HOLLOWAY of Poole.
Walter Holloway was active with a number of pro-Rhodesian and pro-South African organisations in the Medway Towns during the 1970s, and was also an early supporter of S.A.Patriot after the magazine was founded in 1980. During the early 1980s he moved to Poole in Dorset and remained in regular correspondence for a few years, but then communications inexplicably ceased. We have reason to believe that he is no longer resident at his last known address in Poole (7 Symes Road, Hamworthy), but a number of former colleagues would very much like to be able to make contact with him again.

BUSINESS FLIGHTS
Sir,
I had not been in South Africa for 11 years, but felt it was time to go and have a look myself once again. I am of the opinion that it is good to get first hand information, which is possibly not really possible in 3 weeks. So my report was simply what my feelings were during the trip and from what we heard.
I do not agree that all this business development had been planned already during the eighties, in my opinion it is simply a flight of established businesses and banks from the inner cities. They could not find qualified staff anymore who were prepared to work in the towns, so they closed their offices there and moved to the outskirts. Urban development in Umhlanga Ridge, just over the road from the Sharks Board down to the Freeway apparantly is mainly occupied by Indians. Huge business development as well across the Freeway from Alexandra on the Outer Ring Road is a similar situation. Industrial quarters like Kew, etc. have been abandoned as it was totally unsafe for people to go to work there. And the inner city of Johannesburg, with the exception of the financial district (stock exchange area!) which is the best protected place in the whole of South Africa, has also completely slummed up and businesses have moved to the outskirts. Two weeks ago we had friends of ours visiting who told us a few very funny stories on what is happening in some places in the north west of Randburg like Kya Sands, where even the better off squatters on their borders are teaming up with the tennants of Kya Sands properties to form vigliante guarding. Ever since they are working together the burglaries have come down by a high percentage. I am afraid that you are probably very right with your anticipation that future development will slow down tremendously to a little trinkle.

ROGUES GALLERY
It has not been uncommon for us to receive antagonistic e-mails from those who oppose our aims and objectives, most of which come clearly from agents of the ANC and ZANU/PF regimes.
Although we hadn't received any such hostile e-mails for several months now, during this past month we've received a fresh batch of such antagonistic mailings from seemingly two separate sources - though in view of the timing and the similar styles of writing we somehow think they are linked.
The first, giving the e-mail address of MistaOrgazmatron@aol.com, was from someone going by the name of Mwana Wevhu who claimed to be an opponent of Mugabe, but who castigated us for our support of the erstwhile Rhodesia (without giving any reason why this was wrong). When we politely wrote back to Mr. Wevhu, however, our e-mail "bounced", thus suggesting that it may have been a completely phoney set-up.
The second source was anonymous however, and the e-mail address given was realtories@btopenworld.com. Their e-mails contained a number of direct attacks on the Springbok Club and "conservative circles" in general, as well as forwarding some bizarre extreme left-wing material. In this instance our replies didn't "bounce" however, although we received no subsequent responses from the anonymous individual concerned. The weird thing about the e-mail prefix used in this case, however, was that it could be translated as "Real Tories", the slang term for the British Conservative Party - which of course is the last thing which these warped individuals evidently represent!
We wonder therefore whether anyone knows anything further about who might be behind these weird e-mail addresses?

OBITUARY
PROFESSOR ESMOND WRIGHT
Esmond Wright, who died last month aged 87, was one of the leading British academic experts on American History. He also won a famous by-election for the Conservative Party in the Glasgow Pollok constituency in 1967, thus proving that the city is not necessarily a "no-go" area for right-of-centre political parties as is commonly assumed.
Once in Parliament Esmond Wright formed a close bond with Enoch Powell, and not only because of their common academic background (they were then the only two professors in Parliament). Both were opposed to Britain's entry into the European Economic Community, and both were keen Atlanticists, seeing the "open seas" as a more viable and natural alternative to European entrapment.
Of more particular interest is that Esmond Wright went on to become principal of Swinton College, an institution from which today's London Swinton Circle traces its roots. We mourn the passing of this great patriot.

When Rudyard Kipling made his famous injunction to "Take up the White Man's burden" he was addressing the United States.
At the time for America "the West had just been won", but although the United States went on to obtain a few colonies in the Caribbean and the Pacific there was never to be any official American colony on the African continent alongside all the great European Empires. There was one de facto American colony in Africa however: Liberia.
Although (perhaps because) Liberia has officially been independent longer than any other African nation it has slipped back further than most into primeval savagery, to join such other "basket cases" as Somalia, Rwanda and the DRC. It has become a source of poison which, in this age of rapid global communications, could have bad repercussions throughout the planet. Some form of intervention to sort out the mess was therefore essential, but to rely upon another African nation - Nigeria - which is itself beset by tribal conflict and a breakdown in law and order is a classic case of the blind leading the blind.
Liberia is traditionally in the United States's sphere of influence, so the current intervention of American forces - limited though it unfortunately is - must therefore be greatly applauded, just as we must applaud UK intervention in the traditional British sphere of influence in Sierra Leone and France's intervention in the traditional French sphere of influence in the Ivory Coast.
A century after Rudyard Kipling made his famous call to "Take up the White Man's burden" the United States seems at last to be doing just that - not only in Liberia of course, but also in Afghanistan and Iraq. Ironically, alas, at exactly the same time too many European nations - particularly those termed "Old Europe" - seem to have negated the "White Man's burden" in their retrogressive and doomed quest for European Federalism.
Kipling's injunction must go out again therefore, but this time addressed to Europe more than to the United States.

SPRINGBOK CLUB JULY MEETING
Raymond Simpson gave a masterful speech to a well-attended meeting of the Springbok Club last month, in which he outlined the history of South Africa during the latter half of the last century. He paid special attention to the part paid by Dr. Hendrick Verwoerd, and emphasised how if his policies had been carried through to their conclusion South Africa would today be an infinitely better place than alas it is. He also reminded everyone about how - in spite of popular misconceptions - Dr. Verwoerd was actually firmly in favour of unity between Afrikaners and British South Africans, and how under the present depressing circumstances such unity is now more important than ever.

SPRINGBOK CLUB EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING
An Extraordinary General Meeting of the Springbok Club has been called for Wednesday 27th August, and all fully paid-up members of the organisation should by now have been informed of the precise details.
The main matters for discussion at this EGM will be fund-raising and our plans to produce new literature both for recruitment purposes and to distribute in South Africa itself informing people there of our continuing active support for their cause. Full details of decisions made at this EGM will be reported in next month's edition of the SCN.

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
We are happy to be able to report that Robert Shipley has now re-made contact with the Springbok Club's Executive Committee, and has explained the unfortunate reasons why he was unable to fulfil his duties in organising the Kent Branch summer braai. Mr. Shipley's suspensions from the positions which he currently holds within the organisation have now therefore been completely lifted. A relatively young man, Mr. Shipley's employment position has evidently made it very difficult for him to do full justice to all his posts in the Springbok Club, and as a result it seems likely that he will relinquish his position on the Executive Committee, whilst still remaining Chairman of the Kent Branch. Over the year or so since Mr. Shipley became an active member of the Springbok Club he has proved himself to be keen, dedicated and ideological sound, so we are therefore most happy that we will not be losing his undoubted talents completely.
Pastor Nigel Owens, formerly of the embryo Essex Branch of the Springbok Club, has now moved back to his native Ulster, and has expressed great enthusiasm in forming a new branch in Northern Ireland based in Co.Antrim - having already produced a considerable amount of material about the planned branch. This branch in Northern Ireland therefore seems very close to formation, and we would like to congratulate Pastor Owens on all his hard work and efficiency in this respect - which hopefully will be an inspiration to all others who have expressed an interest in forming branches in the past.
A joint London and Chilterns Branches braai (or similar social function) is planned for September, and fuller details will be given in next month's SCN.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE MEETING
The London Swinton Circle will be holding a very interesting meeting in September, the details of which are as follows:-

Guest Speaker : Mr. Jeffrey Donaldson MP (UUP, Lagan Valley), who will speak on "Resisting the Joint Declaration of the British and Irish Governments, and realigning Unionism."

MALCOLM WREN'S "SOUL WALK"
As all readers will know, the Springbok Club initially gave its full support to Malcolm Wren's recent so-called "Soul Walk" across southern England, allegedly in order to draw international attention to the ongoing murder campaign against South African farmers. Indeed we believe that apart from the Netherlands-based "CensorBugBear" web-site the Springbok Club was the only organisation to give this enterprise any form of publicity.
Inter alia the Springbok Club:-
1) Circulated the majority of names on our database both in the UK and in continental Europe with material detailing information about the "Walk" (at considerable expense).
2) Included details about the "Walk" in 4 editions of the SCN (April, May, June & July).
3) Circulated an e-mail reminder giving full details to all our circulation list shortly before the "Walk" was due to commence.
4) Obtained complementary accommodation for Mr. & Mrs. Wren through one of our supporters in Gloucestershire for the night prior to the commencement of the "Walk".
5) Organised a lunchtime refreshment break for the last day of the "Walk" at the house of personal friends in north-west Kent.
6) Telephoned a number of supporters who lived along the route of the "Walk" asking them to give their active support.
It was therefore with great regret that we were faced with no alternative other than to withdraw all our support from this "Walk" on Saturday 2nd August. This decision - which was approved unanimously by the Executive Committee of the Springbok Club - was not taken lightly, and followed a number of incidents which caused great offence to some of our supporters, caused the organisation considerable embarrassment as a result, and which suggested that Mr. & Mrs. Wren did not wish to receive our support - indeed as one Executive Committee member accurately observed, it was not so much a case of us withdrawing support, but rather the fact that all our support was being rejected. We will not bore readers by going into full details about these incidents, but they included:-
1) The total abuse of the free hospitality which was provided by the owner of the hotel in Gloucestershire where Mr. & Mrs. Wren and their party stayed on the night before the "Walk" began, which caused her great distress.
2) The arbitrary alteration of venues for overnight stops along the route with no attempts being made to inform the Springbok Club or anybody else in advance about these changes. This resulted in at least two of our supporters (probably more) going to the wrong venues in order to rendezvous with Mr. Wren.
3) The arrogant rejection of all offers to assist in the obtaining of media publicity and a venue for a final rendezvous point in Gravesend by Mrs. Wren.
4) The rude last-minute cancellation of the lunchtime refreshment break which we had organised at the house of a personal friend in north-west Kent after preparations had already commenced.
We must emphasise, of course, that this withdrawal of support for the Wren "Walk" does NOT indicate any diminishment in our support for the cause which the enterprise was allegedly staged for, namely to draw international attention to the plight of the South African farmers - quite the reverse in fact, for we believe that the offence, embarrassment and ill-feeling which Mr. & Mrs. Wren generated resulted in far more harm than good being done to the cause which they claimed to be supporting.
There are many unanswered questions concerning this "Walk" however - not only why the Wren's eschewed all support from the Springbok Club (the only potentially meaningful support which they received), but also why they obtained absolutely no media publicity in the UK, and indeed rejected all offers of help in this respect (when the whole reason for the "Walk" was allegedly to raise international awareness)?
We would therefore like to apologise to any other supporters who may have tried to support this "Walk" but who were similarly offended or inconvenienced in any way, and to emphasise that neither Mr. nor Mrs. Wren have ever been members of the Springbok Club, and that the movement was never officially involved in the organising of this "Walk".

Dawn Dorkin, originally from Pietermaritzburg, was a most remarkable young woman who ran her own debt-collecting business in Durban. She was also a regular squash partner of the present Chairman of the Springbok Club during the early 1980s, and both he and a number of other friends would like to make contact with her again. She is believed to have married a German and to have moved to Zululand.

Looking at events in the Congo took me back about forty years. Mad Mike Hoare, Black Jacques Schramme, Bob Denard - where are you now that we need you?
Seriously, it's becoming depressingly obvious that there are only two solutions for Africa. Either we abandon her to her fate or take the destiny of Africa into our own hands again. This means, among other things, a qualified franchise - those who can't read shouldn't be able to vote!

DOWN THE GLUG HOLE
Sir,
The June issue of the SCN was excellent in every way. I of course knew all about Mandela, but I am pretty sure that most White readers below the age of fifty don't. I dislike this crowd so much that when they (i.e. sportsmen, politicians, AIDS activists etc.) appear on TV, I switch off. White sports items, such as golf, cricket, surfing, etc. are generally about two minutes, but "Bfana-Bfana" is always at least three - once it was six, I actually timed it! There is always a terrific fanfare whenever they play a match, even when they lose, which is most of the time. Scotland beat them last month, and I hate to think what would happen to them if they were put against an average English club team. A new Black team has come into being, its name, believe it or not, is Ama-Glug-Glug. Black players are so enthusiastic that four times out of ten when they kick at goal the ball goes so high over the crossbar that it is almost out of sight. As both sides favour this practice I suppose it counts as a goal. This no doubt explains the huge mass of balls on the grass that we are occasionally allowed to see.

WALK MAN

The Springbok Club took the lead in publicising Malcolm Wren's Soul Walk, but reckoned without the incompetence of Mr. Wren who completely failed to arrange any newspaper publicity for this event - either from local papers or foreign correspondents in national dailies. I am astonished that they received free food and lodgings across England. This reflects well on the generous spirit of British folk but it was wasted on the curmudgeonly Wren and his wife.
I am annoyed that Mr. Wren constantly whinges about his lack of a send-off from Springbok Club supporters on 26th July, but a send-off function had been planned at the hotel we organised for him for the time of his original booking, but of course the dates which he gave the hotel proved to be incorrect.

OBITUARIES
The 6th MARQUESS OF SALISBURY
It was with great sadness that we recently learnt of the death of the 6th Marquess of Salisbury. The great-grandson of the 3rd Marquess, the British Prime Minister at the time of the foundation of Rhodesia and after whom the capital, Salisbury, was named (and whose first ever chauffeur, incidentally, was the grandfather of the present Chairman of the Springbok Club), the 6th Marquess was no less of a friend of Rhodesia. He lived in the country for several years during the 1950s, and at various times was president of the Anglo-Rhodesian Society, the Monday Club and the Friends of the Union. He was also an active supporter of the Rhodesian Christian Group, and hosted a number of receptions in their honour at the House of Lords, where he gave powerful speeches and was always eager to make conversation with everyone in attendance. Many members of the Springbok Club fondly remember his courtesy and enthusiasm at these gatherings.

RUSSELL ENDEAN
Russell Endean, who died earlier this month aged 79, played 28 Tests for South Africa. He was not only a great cricketer however, but also a great South African. Although he settled in Surrey after marrying a British wife his loyalty to his country of birth and to the Springbok badge never ceased. During the subversive opposition to the 1970 Springbok Tour he wrote many letters to the British press putting forward the South African case. When Rudyard Kipling made his famous injunction to "Take up the White Man's burden" he was addressing the United States.
At the time for America "the West had just been won", but although the United States went on to obtain a few colonies in the Caribbean and the Pacific there was never to be any official American colony on the African continent alongside all the great European Empires. There was one de facto American colony in Africa however: Liberia.
Although (perhaps because) Liberia has officially been independent longer than any other African nation it has slipped back further than most into primeval savagery, to join such other "basket cases" as Somalia, Rwanda and the DRC. It has become a source of poison which, in this age of rapid global communications, could have bad repercussions throughout the planet. Some form of intervention to sort out the mess was therefore essential, but to rely upon another African nation - Nigeria - which is itself beset by tribal conflict and a breakdown in law and order is a classic case of the blind leading the blind.
Liberia is traditionally in the United States's sphere of influence, so the current intervention of American forces - limited though it unfortunately is - must therefore be greatly applauded, just as we must applaud UK intervention in the traditional British sphere of influence in Sierra Leone and France's intervention in the traditional French sphere of influence in the Ivory Coast.

Ironically, alas, at exactly the same time too many European nations - particularly those termed "Old Europe" - seem to have negated the "White Man's burden" in their retrogressive and doomed quest for European Federalism.
Kipling's injunction must go out again therefore, but this time addressed to Europe more than to the United States.

SPRINGBOK CLUB JULY MEETING
Raymond Simpson gave a masterful speech to a well-attended meeting of the Springbok Club last month, in which he outlined the history of South Africa during the latter half of the last century. He paid special attention to the part paid by Dr. Hendrick Verwoerd, and emphasised how if his policies had been carried through to their conclusion South Africa would today be an infinitely better place than alas it is. He also reminded everyone about how - in spite of popular misconceptions - Dr. Verwoerd was actually firmly in favour of unity between Afrikaners and British South Africans, and how under the present depressing circumstances such unity is now more important than ever.

SPRINGBOK CLUB EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING
An Extraordinary General Meeting of the Springbok Club has been called for Wednesday 27th August, and all fully paid-up members of the organisation should by now have been informed of the precise details.
The main matters for discussion at this EGM will be fund-raising and our plans to produce new literature both for recruitment purposes and to distribute in South Africa itself informing people there of our continuing active support for their cause. Full details of decisions made at this EGM will be reported in next month's edition of the SCN.

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
We are happy to be able to report that Robert Shipley has now re-made contact with the Springbok Club's Executive Committee, and has explained the unfortunate reasons why he was unable to fulfil his duties in organising the Kent Branch summer braai. Mr. Shipley's suspensions from the positions which he currently holds within the organisation have now therefore been completely lifted. A relatively young man, Mr. Shipley's employment position has evidently made it very difficult for him to do full justice to all his posts in the Springbok Club, and as a result it seems likely that he will relinquish his position on the Executive Committee, whilst still remaining Chairman of the Kent Branch. Over the year or so since Mr. Shipley became an active member of the Springbok Club he has proved himself to be keen, dedicated and ideological sound, so we are therefore most happy that we will not be losing his undoubted talents completely.
Pastor Nigel Owens, formerly of the embryo Essex Branch of the Springbok Club, has now moved back to his native Ulster, and has expressed great enthusiasm in forming a new branch in Northern Ireland based in Co.Antrim - having already produced a considerable amount of material about the planned branch. This branch in Northern Ireland therefore seems very close to formation, and we would like to congratulate Pastor Owens on all his hard work and efficiency in this respect - which hopefully will be an inspiration to all others who have expressed an interest in forming branches in the past.
A joint London and Chilterns Branches braai (or similar social function) is planned for September, and fuller details will be given in next month's SCN.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE MEETING
The London Swinton Circle will be holding a very interesting meeting in September, the details of which are as follows:-

MALCOLM WREN'S "SOUL WALK"
As all readers will know, the Springbok Club initially gave its full support to Malcolm Wren's recent so-called "Soul Walk" across southern England, allegedly in order to draw international attention to the ongoing murder campaign against South African farmers. Indeed we believe that apart from the Netherlands-based "CensorBugBear" web-site the Springbok Club was the only organisation to give this enterprise any form of publicity.
Inter alia the Springbok Club:-
1) Circulated the majority of names on our database both in the UK and in continental Europe with material detailing information about the "Walk" (at considerable expense).
2) Included details about the "Walk" in 4 editions of the SCN (April, May, June & July).
3) Circulated an e-mail reminder giving full details to all our circulation list shortly before the "Walk" was due to commence.
4) Obtained complementary accommodation for Mr. & Mrs. Wren through one of our supporters in Gloucestershire for the night prior to the commencement of the "Walk".
5) Organised a lunchtime refreshment break for the last day of the "Walk" at the house of personal friends in north-west Kent.
6) Telephoned a number of supporters who lived along the route of the "Walk" asking them to give their active support.
It was therefore with great regret that we were faced with no alternative other than to withdraw all our support from this "Walk" on Saturday 2nd August. This decision - which was approved unanimously by the Executive Committee of the Springbok Club - was not taken lightly, and followed a number of incidents which caused great offence to some of our supporters, caused the organisation considerable embarrassment as a result, and which suggested that Mr. & Mrs. Wren did not wish to receive our support - indeed as one Executive Committee member accurately observed, it was not so much a case of us withdrawing support, but rather the fact that all our support was being rejected. We will not bore readers by going into full details about these incidents, but they included:-
1) The total abuse of the free hospitality which was provided by the owner of the hotel in Gloucestershire where Mr. & Mrs. Wren and their party stayed on the night before the "Walk" began, which caused her great distress.
2) The arbitrary alteration of venues for overnight stops along the route with no attempts being made to inform the Springbok Club or anybody else in advance about these changes. This resulted in at least two of our supporters (probably more) going to the wrong venues in order to rendezvous with Mr. Wren.
3) The arrogant rejection of all offers to assist in the obtaining of media publicity and a venue for a final rendezvous point in Gravesend by Mrs. Wren.
4) The rude last-minute cancellation of the lunchtime refreshment break which we had organised at the house of a personal friend in north-west Kent after preparations had already commenced.
We must emphasise, of course, that this withdrawal of support for the Wren "Walk" does NOT indicate any diminishment in our support for the cause which the enterprise was allegedly staged for, namely to draw international attention to the plight of the South African farmers - quite the reverse in fact, for we believe that the offence, embarrassment and ill-feeling which Mr. & Mrs. Wren generated resulted in far more harm than good being done to the cause which they claimed to be supporting.
There are many unanswered questions concerning this "Walk" however - not only why the Wren's eschewed all support from the Springbok Club (the only potentially meaningful support which they received), but also why they obtained absolutely no media publicity in the UK, and indeed rejected all offers of help in this respect (when the whole reason for the "Walk" was allegedly to raise international awareness)?
We would therefore like to apologise to any other supporters who may have tried to support this "Walk" but who were similarly offended or inconvenienced in any way, and to emphasise that neither Mr. nor Mrs. Wren have ever been members of the Springbok Club, and that the movement was never officially involved in the organising of this "Walk".

Dawn Dorkin, originally from Pietermaritzburg, was a most remarkable young woman who ran her own debt-collecting business in Durban. She was also a regular squash partner of the present Chairman of the Springbok Club during the early 1980s, and both he and a number of other friends would like to make contact with her again. She is believed to have married a German and to have moved to Zululand.

Seriously, it's becoming depressingly obvious that there are only two solutions for Africa. Either we abandon her to her fate or take the destiny of Africa into our own hands again. This means, among other things, a qualified franchise - those who can't read shouldn't be able to vote!

DOWN THE GLUG HOLE
Sir,
The June issue of the SCN was excellent in every way. I of course knew all about Mandela, but I am pretty sure that most White readers below the age of fifty don't. I dislike this crowd so much that when they (i.e. sportsmen, politicians, AIDS activists etc.) appear on TV, I switch off. White sports items, such as golf, cricket, surfing, etc. are generally about two minutes, but "Bfana-Bfana" is always at least three - once it was six, I actually timed it! There is always a terrific fanfare whenever they play a match, even when they lose, which is most of the time. Scotland beat them last month, and I hate to think what would happen to them if they were put against an average English club team. A new Black team has come into being, its name, believe it or not, is Ama-Glug-Glug. Black players are so enthusiastic that four times out of ten when they kick at goal the ball goes so high over the crossbar that it is almost out of sight. As both sides favour this practice I suppose it counts as a goal. This no doubt explains the huge mass of balls on the grass that we are occasionally allowed to see.

WALK MAN

The Springbok Club took the lead in publicising Malcolm Wren's Soul Walk, but reckoned without the incompetence of Mr. Wren who completely failed to arrange any newspaper publicity for this event - either from local papers or foreign correspondents in national dailies. I am astonished that they received free food and lodgings across England. This reflects well on the generous spirit of British folk but it was wasted on the curmudgeonly Wren and his wife.
I am annoyed that Mr. Wren constantly whinges about his lack of a send-off from Springbok Club supporters on 26th July, but a send-off function had been planned at the hotel we organised for him for the time of his original booking, but of course the dates which he gave the hotel proved to be incorrect.

OBITUARIES
The 6th MARQUESS OF SALISBURY
It was with great sadness that we recently learnt of the death of the 6th Marquess of Salisbury. The great-grandson of the 3rd Marquess, the British Prime Minister at the time of the foundation of Rhodesia and after whom the capital, Salisbury, was named (and whose first ever chauffeur, incidentally, was the grandfather of the present Chairman of the Springbok Club), the 6th Marquess was no less of a friend of Rhodesia. He lived in the country for several years during the 1950s, and at various times was president of the Anglo-Rhodesian Society, the Monday Club and the Friends of the Union. He was also an active supporter of the Rhodesian Christian Group, and hosted a number of receptions in their honour at the House of Lords, where he gave powerful speeches and was always eager to make conversation with everyone in attendance. Many members of the Springbok Club fondly remember his courtesy and enthusiasm at these gatherings.

RUSSELL ENDEAN
Russell Endean, who died earlier this month aged 79, played 28 Tests for South Africa. He was not only a great cricketer however, but also a great South African. Although he settled in Surrey after marrying a British wife his loyalty to his country of birth and to the Springbok badge never ceased. During the subversive opposition to the 1970 Springbok Tour he wrote many letters to the British press putting forward the South African case. On July 1st an estimated half-a-million demonstrators protested in Hong Kong against the imposition of the notorious Article 23 "anti-subversion" legislation and the administration of Tung Chee-hwa. They also voiced their anger at the decline of Hong Kong since the end of British colonial rule in 1997, and during the course of the demonstration the [communist] Chinese flag was burnt.
The clear sub-text of this demonstration was that communist Chinese administration had proved a disaster, and that the average Hong Kong citizen was infinitely better off under British rule.
Such a sentiment expressed by an Asiatic people is of course similar to the recent reactions of the Iraqi people, the vast majority of whom were euphoric in their welcome for the Western forces as the liberators which they were.
It has not only been in Asia where this clear longing for a return of civilised Western rule has manifested itself however. Ian Douglas Smith has often mentioned how he is constantly being approached by Blacks in Zimbabwe who tell him how much better off their families were when he was in power, and we have also heard of two separate occasions in Natal when BLACK anti-ANC demonstrators have proudly waved the real South African flag as an act of defiance.
Consciously or sub-consciously (probably the latter) most non-Whites around the world are aware of how much better life was under European colonial rule, and long for its return. Alas there doesn't appear to the will in most European nations to re-establish their natural and rightful duty of governing the world - though recent Western interventions in Afghanistan, Iraq and certain African countries perhaps shows that with the dawn of the new millennium the tide is quickly turning in this regard (certainly as far as some Western nations are concerned!).
Unfortunately the situation in South Africa itself seems certain to become increasing worse on its path towards Zimbabwean ruin before the nations of the West are prepared to intervene, and many more innocent Whites (and members of other races for that matter) are bound to die in the ensuing chaos. Our advice to all White South Africans therefore still remains the same, namely to leave the disintegrating country by any means possible as soon as they can, as in the immediate future the risk to their lives will continue to increase.
In the long term, however, perhaps we are at last starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

SPRINGBOK CLUB KENT BRANCH SUMMER BRAAI PROBLEMS
As many readers will probably know, the summer braai allegedly arranged by the Kent Branch of the Springbok Club encountered severe problems. This braai was chaotically organised by the current Chairman of the Kent Branch, Robert Shipley, who bizarrely didn't even turn up to the event himself! Although several supporters both from the London and Chiltern Branches of the SC journeyed considerable distances to attend, the number of supporters from Kent itself who attended was negligible, and it subsequently transpired that very few of them had been contacted by Mr. Shipley to remind them that the event was taking place. Even more worryingly the patron of the establishment where the braai took place is justifiably asking for some form of financial compensation to cover his losses resulting from the unexpectedly low turnout. (Mr. Shipley had assured him that a far more people were certain to attend than actually turned up, and more staff and facilities were provided for the afternoon as a result.)
Mr. Shipley neither replied to 'phone messages prior to the event, nor has he given any subsequent explanation for the severe damage which he has caused. It may well be that Mr. Shipley has some valid excuse for his negation of duty, but until such an explanation is forthcoming the Executive Committee of the Springbok Club has decided to suspend (not expel) Mr. Shipley from all official positions within the organisation. He therefore should no longer be regarded as having any authority to speak on behalf of the Springbok Club.
It has also been decided to call an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Springbok Club during August, when Mr. Shipley's position (and a number of far happier matters!) will be discussed.

SPRINGBOK CLUB FUND-RAISING CAMPAIGN
Over the past few months it has become more and more obvious that surprisingly few people in South Africa itself are aware of the activities of the Springbok Club. Those who are inevitable tell us that they are inspired and encouraged to learn of the active support which they still possess overseas during their current plight. We have therefore decided to initiate a publicity campaign aimed at our White South African kith-and-kin to let them know that they have not been forgotten, and to tell them a bit about the Springbok Club. We have the names of almost 1200 South Africans on our lists who we would like to circulate. With standard postage from the UK being almost 50p, plus the cost of printing a brochure, we estimate that the total cost for this exercise with be approximately £700. We hope therefore that you may be able to help us financially to achieve this aim.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE MEETINGS
The London Swinton Circle held two highly successful and well attended meetings during the last month. The first was addressed by the Rt. Hon. Eric Forth MP (the Shadow Leader of the House of Commons), who gave a masterful overview of the current state of the Blair government, and the dangers posed by the proposed EU constitution. The second was addressed by Mr. Ashley Mote who spoke on "Britain's Immigration Crisis" (a timely subject, as according to the 2001 Census as much as 6.8% of the UK's population is now non-White.)
Later this month the London Swinton Circle will hold their annual summer buffet which will be addressed by the Rt. Hon. Ann Widdecombe MP. All tickets for this event have now been sold, but a full report of this meeting will be given in August's SCN.

MALCOLM WREN'S "SOUL WALK"
There has evidently been some confusion about the precise dates of Malcolm Wren's "Soul Walk". It is confirmed, therefore, that this will take place between Sunday 27th July and Thursday 7th August.
Malcolm, widely know as the "Engelse Boer", will be doing this 150 mile walk from Avonmouth on the banks of the Severn to Gravesend on the banks of the Thames. He will be placing 1500 gold-and-green (Springbok colours) ribbons - 10 per mile - for each person, each "Soul", murdered in the vicious farm attacks which have occurred in South Africa since 1994. The purpose of this exercise is not to raise funds, but rather to draw attention to the GENOCIDE campaign against South African (particularly Afrikaner) farmers which is currently taking place. Malcolm will be joined for the length of his walk by another good friend of the Springbok Club, Anthony LoBaido (the highly-acclaimed American journalist), and perhaps by another supporter.

I heard an interview on our National Programme the other day with the Black cricketer Henry Olonga who wore the armband at the World Cup matches. Basically he conveyed the message that Mugabe is a bit of a tyrant. I later 'phoned the show's producer and basically asked her why that message had to come from a Black sportsman before people would finally believe it. Suffice to say we (Rhodesians) had been trying to do just that for the last 30 years - but of course, we're just a bunch of bloody racists, aren't we?!?

Many thanks for forwarding me a copy of "Why the Left Loves Osama and Saddam" [sent via the Springbok Special Circulation List]. It gave a clear explanation. What is disturbing in talking to these people is their total inability to debate, consider the facts or listen to personal experience. It is quite frightening. The paper described how they automatically embrace anyone who "takes on the US". Mandela is a "saint" and any of his misdemeanours or the excesses of his ANC team are "understandable and excusable". White farmers and their families in Zimbabwe "bought it upon themselves after years of abusing the indigenous peoples". Any hope of debate and discussion to arrive at a reasoned conclusion is, I'm afraid, a pipe dream.

RETURN OF THE NATIVE
Sir,
I recently paid a visit to South Africa after 11 years, and took the train to Cape Town. It was not the Bluetrain or Rovosrail as that was beyond our budget. It now costs no less than R18,000.00 for a 2-berth compartment. It is much cheaper to fly or take the Shozolosa Myl, which cost us R1,800.00 for the 4-berth 1st class compartment. We only got food the McDonalds way served in our compartment, but we survived and arrived 27 hours later in Cape Town. From there we took a hire-car and drove to Stellenbosch and along the Garden Route, before we took a flight to Durban from Port Elizabeth.
As I had lived in Durban for a number of years in the 70's we spent quite a few days there, visiting the Sugar Terminal, Umgeni Bird Park and the Sharks Board, etc., and then carried on along the coast to Richards Bay, through Hluhluwe Game Reserve and Swaziland, and then finally back to Johannesburg International Airport for our trip back home to Switzerland.
Travelling intensively like this it was difficult to make an opinion on today's circumstances. What shocked me most was the state of the inner cities of Durban and Johannesburg. The result is intensive building activities at the outskirts, e.g. on the other side of the eastern outer ring road of Jo'burg just across the Freeway from Alexandra there are hundreds of new business buildings, and Umhlanga Ridge north of Durban is a similar example.
Well, I came back home with very mixed feeling. Our last house we stayed in in Robindale, Randburg, is now occupied by an Indian Family and the previous one in Blairgowrie is painted a bright yellow and the roof a bright blue, which points to an Indian family too. On the other hand friends are living behind high walls with razor wire on top, or in areas which are protected with barriers entering their suburbs and security guards patrolling day and night, AND their properties are still protected with electrical barriers. Most of my friends I talked to have been mugged, burgled, car-hijacked or worse. Generally the countryside is still simply magnificient and beautiful, if you are outside cities.

ROGUES GALLERY
A year or so ago we were contacted by an apparent supporter from Washington in the United States who went by the name of "Pastor" Lawrence Blanchard. After he expressed specific interest in the Battle of Blood River - and accepting his bona fides - we sent him an audio-tape about this historical event which we possessed.
More recently, however, this same "Pastor" Blanchard has contacted us again to object to the pro-Western stance which we have taken regarding the War in Iraq. Quite clearly therefore this idiot has totally mistaken what our movement actually stands for, and apparently has been under the erroneous impression that Blood River was somehow a victory by the "poor exploited Blacks" against the "evil White oppressors"! Furthermore, in a more recent antagonistic message to us "Pastor" Blanchard has expressed a paranoid hatred for the State of Israel, which indeed borders on anti-Semitism.
We would be very interested to learn any further information which anyone may know concerning this crank. In the meantime we would advise all supporters to be extremely wary of him.

OBITUARY
Sir Dennis Thatcher Bt.
Sir Dennis Thatcher, who died last month, represented everything that was best in the British race. A successful businessman and keen sportsman (being both a top rugby referee and a low-handicap golfer), but it was as the husband of Baroness Thatcher that he will be best remembered. His support for his wife was substantial and vital - though always in the background. A great friend of South Africa during the days of civilised rule, he undoubtedly influenced his wife positively in this respect. He is succeeded to the baronetcy by his son Mark Thatcher. We trust that he will be able to live up to his father's high standards.

July 2003 edition
On July 1st an estimated half-a-million demonstrators protested in Hong Kong against the imposition of the notorious Article 23 "anti-subversion" legislation and the administration of Tung Chee-hwa. They also voiced their anger at the decline of Hong Kong since the end of British colonial rule in 1997, and during the course of the demonstration the [communist] Chinese flag was burnt.
The clear sub-text of this demonstration was that communist Chinese administration had proved a disaster, and that the average Hong Kong citizen was infinitely better off under British rule.
Such a sentiment expressed by an Asiatic people is of course similar to the recent reactions of the Iraqi people, the vast majority of whom were euphoric in their welcome for the Western forces as the liberators which they were.
It has not only been in Asia where this clear longing for a return of civilised Western rule has manifested itself however. Ian Douglas Smith has often mentioned how he is constantly being approached by Blacks in Zimbabwe who tell him how much better off their families were when he was in power, and we have also heard of two separate occasions in Natal when BLACK anti-ANC demonstrators have proudly waved the real South African flag as an act of defiance.
Consciously or sub-consciously (probably the latter) most non-Whites around the world are aware of how much better life was under European colonial rule, and long for its return. Alas there doesn't appear to the will in most European nations to re-establish their natural and rightful duty of governing the world - though recent Western interventions in Afghanistan, Iraq and certain African countries perhaps shows that with the dawn of the new millennium the tide is quickly turning in this regard (certainly as far as some Western nations are concerned!).
Unfortunately the situation in South Africa itself seems certain to become increasing worse on its path towards Zimbabwean ruin before the nations of the West are prepared to intervene, and many more innocent Whites (and members of other races for that matter) are bound to die in the ensuing chaos. Our advice to all White South Africans therefore still remains the same, namely to leave the disintegrating country by any means possible as soon as they can, as in the immediate future the risk to their lives will continue to increase.
In the long term, however, perhaps we are at last starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel.

SPRINGBOK CLUB KENT BRANCH SUMMER BRAAI PROBLEMS
As many readers will probably know, the summer braai allegedly arranged by the Kent Branch of the Springbok Club encountered severe problems. This braai was chaotically organised by the current Chairman of the Kent Branch, Robert Shipley, who bizarrely didn't even turn up to the event himself! Although several supporters both from the London and Chiltern Branches of the SC journeyed considerable distances to attend, the number of supporters from Kent itself who attended was negligible, and it subsequently transpired that very few of them had been contacted by Mr. Shipley to remind them that the event was taking place. Even more worryingly the patron of the establishment where the braai took place is justifiably asking for some form of financial compensation to cover his losses resulting from the unexpectedly low turnout. (Mr. Shipley had assured him that a far more people were certain to attend than actually turned up, and more staff and facilities were provided for the afternoon as a result.)
Mr. Shipley neither replied to 'phone messages prior to the event, nor has he given any subsequent explanation for the severe damage which he has caused. It may well be that Mr. Shipley has some valid excuse for his negation of duty, but until such an explanation is forthcoming the Executive Committee of the Springbok Club has decided to suspend (not expel) Mr. Shipley from all official positions within the organisation. He therefore should no longer be regarded as having any authority to speak on behalf of the Springbok Club.
It has also been decided to call an Extraordinary General Meeting of the Springbok Club during August, when Mr. Shipley's position (and a number of far happier matters!) will be discussed.

SPRINGBOK CLUB FUND-RAISING CAMPAIGN
Over the past few months it has become more and more obvious that surprisingly few people in South Africa itself are aware of the activities of the Springbok Club. Those who are inevitable tell us that they are inspired and encouraged to learn of the active support which they still possess overseas during their current plight. We have therefore decided to initiate a publicity campaign aimed at our White South African kith-and-kin to let them know that they have not been forgotten, and to tell them a bit about the Springbok Club. We have the names of almost 1200 South Africans on our lists who we would like to circulate. With standard postage from the UK being almost 50p, plus the cost of printing a brochure, we estimate that the total cost for this exercise with be approximately £700. We hope therefore that you may be able to help us financially to achieve this aim.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE MEETINGS
The London Swinton Circle held two highly successful and well attended meetings during the last month. The first was addressed by the Rt. Hon. Eric Forth MP (the Shadow Leader of the House of Commons), who gave a masterful overview of the current state of the Blair government, and the dangers posed by the proposed EU constitution. The second was addressed by Mr. Ashley Mote who spoke on "Britain's Immigration Crisis" (a timely subject, as according to the 2001 Census as much as 6.8% of the UK's population is now non-White.)
Later this month the London Swinton Circle will hold their annual summer buffet which will be addressed by the Rt. Hon. Ann Widdecombe MP. All tickets for this event have now been sold, but a full report of this meeting will be given in August's SCN.

MALCOLM WREN'S "SOUL WALK"
There has evidently been some confusion about the precise dates of Malcolm Wren's "Soul Walk". It is confirmed, therefore, that this will take place between Sunday 27th July and Thursday 7th August.
Malcolm, widely know as the "Engelse Boer", will be doing this 150 mile walk from Avonmouth on the banks of the Severn to Gravesend on the banks of the Thames. He will be placing 1500 gold-and-green (Springbok colours) ribbons - 10 per mile - for each person, each "Soul", murdered in the vicious farm attacks which have occurred in South Africa since 1994. The purpose of this exercise is not to raise funds, but rather to draw attention to the GENOCIDE campaign against South African (particularly Afrikaner) farmers which is currently taking place. Malcolm will be joined for the length of his walk by another good friend of the Springbok Club, Anthony LoBaido (the highly-acclaimed American journalist), and perhaps by another supporter.

Jean Clements owned the "Blades Unisex" hairdressing salon in John Milne Road, Durban, and indeed was a former South African hairdressing champion. A highly attractive woman with a charismatic personality, she was of part French Mauritian origin. She had one daughter, Candis, who must now be in her late-teens. A number of her former friends and customers would very much like to be able to make contact with her again.

BLACK ARMBANDS

I heard an interview on our National Programme the other day with the Black cricketer Henry Olonga who wore the armband at the World Cup matches. Basically he conveyed the message that Mugabe is a bit of a tyrant. I later 'phoned the show's producer and basically asked her why that message had to come from a Black sportsman before people would finally believe it. Suffice to say we (Rhodesians) had been trying to do just that for the last 30 years - but of course, we're just a bunch of bloody racists, aren't we?!?

DISABILITY DEBATE

Many thanks for forwarding me a copy of "Why the Left Loves Osama and Saddam" [sent via the Springbok Special Circulation List]. It gave a clear explanation. What is disturbing in talking to these people is their total inability to debate, consider the facts or listen to personal experience. It is quite frightening. The paper described how they automatically embrace anyone who "takes on the US". Mandela is a "saint" and any of his misdemeanours or the excesses of his ANC team are "understandable and excusable". White farmers and their families in Zimbabwe "bought it upon themselves after years of abusing the indigenous peoples". Any hope of debate and discussion to arrive at a reasoned conclusion is, I'm afraid, a pipe dream.

RETURN OF THE NATIVE
Sir,
I recently paid a visit to South Africa after 11 years, and took the train to Cape Town. It was not the Bluetrain or Rovosrail as that was beyond our budget. It now costs no less than R18,000.00 for a 2-berth compartment. It is much cheaper to fly or take the Shozolosa Myl, which cost us R1,800.00 for the 4-berth 1st class compartment. We only got food the McDonalds way served in our compartment, but we survived and arrived 27 hours later in Cape Town. From there we took a hire-car and drove to Stellenbosch and along the Garden Route, before we took a flight to Durban from Port Elizabeth.
As I had lived in Durban for a number of years in the 70's we spent quite a few days there, visiting the Sugar Terminal, Umgeni Bird Park and the Sharks Board, etc., and then carried on along the coast to Richards Bay, through Hluhluwe Game Reserve and Swaziland, and then finally back to Johannesburg International Airport for our trip back home to Switzerland.
Travelling intensively like this it was difficult to make an opinion on today's circumstances. What shocked me most was the state of the inner cities of Durban and Johannesburg. The result is intensive building activities at the outskirts, e.g. on the other side of the eastern outer ring road of Jo'burg just across the Freeway from Alexandra there are hundreds of new business buildings, and Umhlanga Ridge north of Durban is a similar example.
Well, I came back home with very mixed feeling. Our last house we stayed in in Robindale, Randburg, is now occupied by an Indian Family and the previous one in Blairgowrie is painted a bright yellow and the roof a bright blue, which points to an Indian family too. On the other hand friends are living behind high walls with razor wire on top, or in areas which are protected with barriers entering their suburbs and security guards patrolling day and night, AND their properties are still protected with electrical barriers. Most of my friends I talked to have been mugged, burgled, car-hijacked or worse. Generally the countryside is still simply magnificient and beautiful, if you are outside cities.

ROGUES GALLERY
A year or so ago we were contacted by an apparent supporter from Washington in the United States who went by the name of "Pastor" Lawrence Blanchard. After he expressed specific interest in the Battle of Blood River - and accepting his bona fides - we sent him an audio-tape about this historical event which we possessed.
More recently, however, this same "Pastor" Blanchard has contacted us again to object to the pro-Western stance which we have taken regarding the War in Iraq. Quite clearly therefore this idiot has totally mistaken what our movement actually stands for, and apparently has been under the erroneous impression that Blood River was somehow a victory by the "poor exploited Blacks" against the "evil White oppressors"! Furthermore, in a more recent antagonistic message to us "Pastor" Blanchard has expressed a paranoid hatred for the State of Israel, which indeed borders on anti-Semitism.
We would be very interested to learn any further information which anyone may know concerning this crank. In the meantime we would advise all supporters to be extremely wary of him.

OBITUARY
Sir Dennis Thatcher Bt.
Sir Dennis Thatcher, who died last month, represented everything that was best in the British race. A successful businessman and keen sportsman (being both a top rugby referee and a low-handicap golfer), but it was as the husband of Baroness Thatcher that he will be best remembered. His support for his wife was substantial and vital - though always in the background. A great friend of South Africa during the days of civilised rule, he undoubtedly influenced his wife positively in this respect. He is succeeded to the baronetcy by his son Mark Thatcher. We trust that he will be able to live up to his father's high standards.
