April 2008 edition
As we've observed in the past, the world of the first decade of the 21st century is rapidly becoming a far different - and far better - place to that which it was during the "politically correct" 1990's.
There have been no better illustrations of this than the rising international condemnations of Mugabe's vile ZANU-PF regime in Zimbabwe, and of the brutal Chinese suppression and attempted elimination of the Tibetan people and culture. The ZANU-PF tyrannical oppression of their own people and blatant rigging of elections is now almost universally condemned, and protests against the staging of the 2008 Olympics in dictatorial Communist China are currently gathering a seemingly unstoppable momentum. Both sets of protests against leftist/terrorist regimes on such massive scales would have been inconceivable even ten years ago.
Perhaps the most astonishing manifestation of these protests, however, has been the identity of some of those leading the chorus of condemnation - characters who in their previous incarnations could only be regarded as repulsive in the extreme, such as the unspeakable Peter Hain, the primate Desmond Tutu and the mincing Peter Tatchell. All three of these individuals were in the forefront of international demonstrations against civilised rule in Rhodesia and South Africa during the latter part of the 20th century, when the only valid criticism which could be levelled against the first-world governments of these countries was that they did not allow total manhood suffrage in national elections. The Rhodesian government never massacred hundreds of thousands of its Matabele citizens nor deliberately eliminated those who did not support its leader like the ZANU-PF terrorist regime has been doing ever since it was handed power in 1980 - nor did the NP South African government try to suppress and eradicate the indigenous peoples and cultures of the various Black tribes living within its borders as the despicable Chinese Communists have been doing against the people of Tibet ever since their illegal invasion of that land in 1950. The system of apartheid (separate development) was after all designed precisely to PROTECT the differing cultures of the various races!
The fact that the likes of Hain, Tutu and Tatchell have at last apparently "seen the light" regarding where the TRUE evil in this world lies is of course to be welcomed. We would however have far more respect for them if they were to have the intellectual courage and honesty to admit that they were totally wrong in their attacks upon well-governed Rhodesia and South Africa in the past.

SPRINGBOK CLUB VAN RIEBEECK'S DAY BRAAI
Earlier this month the Springbok Club staged the first of what is hoped will be annual braais to celebrate Van Riebeeck's Day - the anniversary of the founding of the South African nation in 1652. This event was inspired by large celebrations which were held in London in January in order to mark Australia Day, which were attended by a number of Springbok Club supporters. Although unfortunately the numbers who attended the Van Riebeeck Day celebrations were far lower than those who attended the Australia Day events (mainly, it is believed, because of delays in advertising the occasion - a situation made far worse by the fact that the so-called "South African" freebee newspaper reprehensibly refused to carry an advert for the event!) it even so turned out to be a most enjoyable day for all those who came along, with excellent facilities, a magnificent braai and superb entertainment - both live and video. Our special thanks are extended to Jon and Julie Morris who organised the braai so splendidly, Robin Willow and Max Somerset who provided such captivating musical entertainment, and to Brian and Tina who ran the bar.
A special ExCo meeting will be held later this week in order to discuss what can be done to advertise such events more effectively in future - but any feedback or advice which readers could give regarding how to increase numbers in future would be most appreciated.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC EVENTS
The Springbok Club/Empire Loyalist Club will be staging a special buffet in central London during late May in order to celebrate Empire Day, at which a prominent Gibraltarian will be guest speaker. Fuller details will be given in next month's SCN.
In June the Springbok Club/ELC will be welcoming an acclaimed Rhodesian author as guest speaker, and in July it is hoped that an important ex-Rhodesian personality will be guest of honour at the Springbok Club's annual Rhodes & Founders Day celebration buffet.

SPRINGBBOK CLUB/ELC BRANCH NEWS
The Kent Branch of the SC/ELC held a small but most enjoyable pub gathering in Herne Bay last month. A number of officials from both the London and Chilterns branches of the organisation journeyed down for this event - though it would have been nice to see a few more supporters actually from Kent in attendance.
The London Branch of the SC/ELC will be staging a trip to see the finish of the Doggett's Coat & Badge race on the Thames in July/August.
A member of the ExCo of the SC/ELC will be visiting Bath in early May, and hopes to meet as many supporters from Somerset as possible whilst there. He also anticipates being in Belfast during early August, when it is hoped that the Northern Ireland Branch of the organisation can be re-constituted, and also to visit Devon later during the year when a Devon Branch of the movement may be able to be launched. LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS
The London Swinton Circle was most honoured to welcome Mr. Tom Wise MEP (one of the UKIP MEPs representing the East of England) as guest speaker for their annual Spring Buffet last month. Mr.Wise proved to be a highly popular speaker, attracting a packed audience with standing-room only at the back of the function room where the meeting was held. Although he surprisingly announced that he had started his political life as a member of the Liberal Party, and equally unexpectedly expressed a couple of rather liberal views, on the central and most important matter of the EU and Britain's entanglement in this internationalist structure the opinions which he expressed were faultless, and drew prolonged applause. As a sitting member on the European Parliament's Fisheries Committee the main theme of his talk was to expose the iniquities of the EU's Common Fisheries Policy, a subject which he has written a highly-acclaimed booklet about: "Dead in the Water: How the CFP destroys lives, economies, and environments".
The London Swinton Circle will be welcoming Dr. J.E.Hazlett Lynch as guest speaker at a most important meeting to be staged in September. Dr.Lynch is Director of The West Tyrone Voice - a pro-British organisation which campaigns for the victims of terrorism. Other meetings are however being planned prior to this, and fuller details will be given in future editions of the SCN.

NEW BRITAIN NEWS
Since the publication of the March edition of the SCN we have learnt that Mr. Dennis Delderfield, the National Chairman of New Britain, has announced the withdrawal of his candidacy from the forthcoming election for Mayor of London. He has stated as his reason for this is that he doesn't wish to split the patriotic vote and thereby risk the re-election of the ultra-leftist Labour Party candidate Ken Livingstone. This would seem to be an act of pure self-sacrifice on the part of Mr. Delderfield, which we can only applaud. Prior to this development it was very difficult to decide whether to recommend first-preference choice in this poll for Mr. Delderfield or for Mr. Gerard Batten, the official UKIP candidate - both men who we admire greatly. Now, through Mr. Delderfield's gallant action, the choice is simple: all true patriots should cast their first-preference vote for Mr. Batten, and their second-preference vote for Mr. Boris Johnson, the official Conservative Party candidate.
New Britain will be marking St.George's Day this year (Wednesday 23rd April) by selling buttonhole English flags in the pubs of the City of London in aid of the Treloar Trust for disabled young people.
On Friday 9th May (officially so-called "Europe Day") New Britain will stage a march down Whitehall - headed by Britannia - to deliver letters to the Prime Minister and to the London HQ of the European Union demanding that the UK should leave the EU. PETITION IN MEMORY OF TUSKER THE ELEPHANT
Following the recent shooting of Tusker the elephant after the New Year's party at Charara Game Park in Zimbabwe, the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force has been inundated with e-mails from people who feel that any future New Year's parties at Charara should be banned.

NEW ZEALANDER SEES THE LIGHT
We have recently received the following most interesting report from a supporter in Wellington, New Zealand:-
"A veteran New Zealand anti-apartheid campaigner has rejected a nomination for a prestigious South African award for foreigners, saying he is dismayed over conditions in the country, local media reported on Monday. John Minto, nominated for a 'Companion of OR Tambo Award' by a South African government official, asked for the nomination to be withdrawn, the Christchurch Press newspaper said.
"'[South Africa] was the democratic country with so much hope and I think for so many people it's been the deepest of disappointments, and certainly it has been for me,' Minto said. 'I'm just deeply dismayed at what's happened,' he told the newspaper.
"The Tambo award is the highest honour granted non-South Africans in recognition of friendship, co-operation and support. Previous recipients include Mahatma Gandhi, Kofi Annan, Salvador Allende and Martin Luther King jnr.
"A [trade] union organiser, Minto was national co-ordinator of the 'Halt All Racist Tours' movement during the controversial 1981 Springbok rugby tour of New Zealand - when an all-White rugby team representing South Africa was strongly opposed by many New Zealanders.
"In an open letter to South African President Thabo Mbeki, Minto blasted the African National Congress government which, he said, had left Black South Africans 'worse off than they were under (White) minority rule'.
"'When we protested and marched into police batons and barbed wire here in the struggle against apartheid, we were not fighting for a small Black elite to become millionaires,' Minto wrote.
"'We were fighting for a better South Africa for all its citizens. The faces at the top have changed from White to Black but the substance of change is an illusion,' he noted."

ZIMBABWE DEBATE
Following the most successful Zimbabwe Debate staged by Mr. Albert Weidemann, the highly-respected Zimbabwe human rights campaigner, in Scarborough last month, he is now organising a further such debate, the details of which are as follows:-
Date : Saturday 26th April 2008
Times : 12.00 noon until 17.00 hrs.
Venue : Ripon Town Hall, Market Place South, Ripon, West Riding of Yorkshire, HG1 2SG.
Entrance to this event is free, and the hall holds 220. Discussions will feature the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland (1953-1963), independent Rhodesia (1965-1980), ZANU-PF Zimbabwe (1980-2008) and the MDC. The mayors of both Ripon and Harrogate are likely to attend, as well as relatives of some prominent Zimbabwe politicians.

ROYAL BRITISH LEGION POPPY DROP OVER MOUNT EVEREST
In October 2008 a Mount Everest "first" is going to take place – 24 skydivers are going to free-fall over Everest and enter the record books.
Mount Everest is the highest mountain in the world, so it goes to pass that the skydivers will be landing on the highest drop zone in the world - the Syangboche airstrip above the Sherpa capital of Namche in Nepal.
This is an extreme event and the skydivers are having to use specially designed jumpsuits and oxygen for their decent. All conditions surrounding the skydive are extreme and they will be carrying out specific training for the jump. They will be jumping from the aircraft at 29,500ft and will freefall past the face of Everest and (hopefully) will land on the DZ at 13,295ft above mean sea level.
Touched by the plight of soldiers returning with terrible injuries from Iraq and Afghanistan, it has been decided to do the jump to raise money for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. The fund-raising endeavour is being called "Op Poppy Drop". The Royal British Legion has supplied 2500 poppies for the skydivers to release.

Lorna Botha went to Durban High School for Girls, where she excelled at Hockey. JIM WOULD HAVE FIXED IT
Sir,
As usual your observations on South Africa are spot on.
You get UK people actually buying property there because you "get more bangs for your buck", but who wants to live in a fortress or even a fortress within a gated community for heaven's sake? I'm sure you're aware, but the favourite place for car-jackings is when you are stopped outside your own electronic gates. For God's sake, as these open slowly you are the proverbial sitting duck!
I don't know if it's the winter, but I get more and more melancholy when I think of the legacy we left behind in our ex-colonies which were the best ruled in the whole of the African continent (especially Rhodesia).
I curse the Conservative government of Margaret Thatcher who was persuaded against her own instincts to betray the Rhodesian internal settlement.
I curse B.J.Vorster for his shameful betrayal brought about by false promises that if he engineered a settlement in Rhodesia the outside world would leave South Africa alone.
I curse F.W.de Klerk and the gutless Afrikaners who at one time would have had everyone believe they would have fought to the last man. I am sure a lot would have, especially the wonderful security forces, but being White-officered they obeyed their government, even when that government was committing national and racial suicide. What did these people think when they handed over the power-house of Africa to a bunch of criminals? The new order is and was ever only going to be about self-enrichment, corruption being everywhere and endemic throughout the whole system. The South African Chief of Police has had to resign from Interpol for goodness sake for taking bungs from a master criminal!
I think it was Ernest Bevan (who actually was against independence for African colonies so quickly) who said it was like giving a 12 year old kid a machine gun and a bank account. Truer words were never spoken.

ROGUES GALLERY
In 1982 S.A.Patriot received an extremely strange letter from someone named Nick Griffin in which he started off by praising our magazine in the highest possible terms as being "consistently one of the best Nationalist [sic] publications in the World, both in terms of layout and content", but then went on to imply criticism of the very neo-Imperialist and pro-Capitalist policies which our magazine has always advocated! We subsequently decided to publish this most bizarre letter in edition No.12 of S.A.Patriot, more as a joke than anything.
Although this Griffin character claimed to be connected to the magazine "Nationalism Today" (a patriotic British publication which S.A.Patriot had a reciprocal exchange agreement with) we had never heard from him previously - and neither did we ever hear anything from him ever again (probably because of the sarcastic reply which we made to his silly letter!).
A few years ago, however, we learnt that the leader of the neo-fascist "British National Party" also had the name of Nick Griffin, so have wondered ever since whether this could be one and the same person. After a few enquiries in this regard one of our supporters has informed us that he is indeed the "same one - was connected to 'Nationalism Today', although [he] has changed [a] lot of opinions since". Well if he was able to change his opinions half-way through the bizarre letter which he wrote to us in 1982 we guess that absolutely anything could be possible subsequently!
Our movement is of course firmly opposed to socialism in all its forms - both the national and international varieties - so therefore will have no truck with the likes of the so-called "BNP" whatsoever. It has puzzled and worried us for some time however why this neo-fascist party has been receiving so much media publicity, with no reference being made to its overtly neo-Nazi - and indeed anti-Semitic - nature whatsoever. The only explanation has been that the powers-that-be wish to divert support away from authentic patriotic parties such as New Britain and UKIP into the blind-alley of BNP neo-fascism, which nobody with any knowledge of WWII would wish to touch with a bargepole.
We have, however, recently heard something even more sinister and worrying about this Griffin character - from two completely independent sources we hasten to add - namely that he made a visit to the fundamentalist Islamic state of Libya a few years ago, allegedly at the behest of the Gaddafi regime. Such an allegation would seem to be absolutely unbelievable for the leader of a British political party which "claims" to be patriotic and firmly opposed to non-White immigration - but as it's a known and accepted fact that the so-called "BNP" has opposed their own country in the War against Terror in both Iraq and Afghanistan (in spite of their "claim" to be opposed to the growth of Islam in Britain), practically anything would seem to be possible regarding these phonies! It has for long amazed us and other observers how such an objectionable party as the BNP has been able to maintain such an impressive structure, full-time staff and Internet presence when they seemingly only obtain electoral support from poorly-educated members of the lumpen proletariat living off state benefits. Perhaps this Libyan connection could therefore explain the source of their mysterious income?
We have furthermore been informed that there is photographic evidence of Griffin's visit to Libya, which allegedly appeared in a BNP publication which was subsequently suppressed and "pulped". Needless to say, if anyone could produce a copy of this publication in question then it could prove most useful.

As the 2008 US Presidential Election nears its conclusion this is perhaps an ideal time to look back over the presidency of George W. Bush.
Our movement supported George W. Bush in both the 2000 and 2004 elections, and his record in office as a whole certainly hasn't disappointed. To be sure, we could be critical about some of his domestic policies where he perhaps hasn't delivered on all his promises, but from a non-American standpoint such matters are not really of concern to us - and furthermore it must be born in mind that for the past couple of years he has had to work with an antagonistic Democratic-led Congress.
Of far more concern to those of us elsewhere in the Western World, however, has been his foreign policy, and here his record can only be praised. Following the 9/11 atrocities he showed great courage and guts in confronting Taliban and al-Qa'eda terrorists militarily in both Afghanistan and Iraq, and thereby saved the West from far more frightening Islamic advances and incursions into our historic homelands. It would be very difficult to imagine Clinton, Gore or Kerry possessing the necessary political bravery to take such military action, and by so doing George W. Bush has placed his name alongside such heroes as Charles Martel of France and King Jan III Sobieski of Poland by saving Europe from further invasion by Mohammedan hordes. Of equal importance, furthermore, has been the determination of George W. Bush (a strong admirer of Sir Winston Churchill) to strengthen the Special Relationship between the US and the UK - even though initially Tony Blair seemed a most unlikely ally in this respect! By strengthening the Atlantic Alliance in this way British foreign policy has started to look increasingly west towards its traditional and natural partners, and away from increasingly involvement with the harmful and artificial European Union. If we have any severe criticisms of the foreign policy of the George W. Bush Administration then it has been their recognition of the illegitimate statelet of Kosovo, and - perhaps - their less than robust support for the State of Israel in its frontline battles against expansionist Islam. These failings apart, however, we still believe that everyone in the West must say a big thank-you to President George W. Bush.
But what of the future? For well over a year we have been strongly of the opinion that only one man possesses the necessary experience, talents and determination to become an effective next President of the United States during these troubled times - Senator John McCain of Arizona. It has therefore been a great joy - though not particularly a surprise - to learn that he has now secured the GOP presidential nomination for 2008, and thereby will almost certainly become the 44th President of the United States. Our full support and congratulations are therefore extended to Senator McCain.
Meanwhile the opposition Democratic contest is dire in the extreme. A Hillary Clinton presidency would undoubtedly be catastrophic for the West - but a triumph for Barack Hussein Obama seems too ghastly to contemplate. Our objection to Obama isn't because he's Black (we would have absolutely no qualms if Condi Rice was eventually to have a tilt at the presidency for instance) but because he is not a proper American - not a proper Westerner. How the son of a White atheist miscegenist and a Kenyan Muslim goat-herdsman, schooled at a Madrassa in Indonesia, could ever be contemplated as a candidate for the US presidency (and thereby to become the leader of the Western World) defies all belief! The most astonishing factor about all this is not the support which this hideous figure is unsurprisingly receiving from America's increasingly worrying number of ethnics, but the backing which he is obtaining from seemingly so many self-hating "Whites". Alas there seems to be something very rotten infecting American society at the moment. We wish the true American people well in defeating this poisonous attitude.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC FEBRUARY MEETING
Last month the Springbok Club/ELC was most privileged to be able to welcome Professor Charles Muller as guest speaker. Prof. Muller, who was formerly professor of English at both the University of the North and at UNISA, now runs his own highly successful publishing company, Diadem Books, in the UK. The latest book which Diadem Books has published has been the biography of Sir Winston Churchill's wartime secretary, Elizabeth Nel. In his speech Prof. Muller told something about the most interesting history of his publishing venture, and specifically recounted the background to Elizabeth Nel's biography, "Winston Churchill by his Personal Secretary". He was then joined by two of the authors of other works which Diadem Books has published, Monika Pavlik and Bryan Marlowe, who read several most interesting extracts from their books.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC KENT BRANCH GATHERING
The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club/ELC will be holding an informal get-together on Sunday 16th March at The Ship, Central Parade, on the Herne Bay sea-front (towards the eastern end of the town), from approximately 12.30 hrs onwards. SPRINGBBOK CLUB/ELC BRANCH NEWS
The London Branch of the SC/ELC will be staging a trip to see the finish of the Doggett's Coat & Badge race on the Thames in July/August.
A member of the ExCo of the SC/ELC anticipates being in Belfast during August, when it is hoped that the Northern Ireland Branch of the organisation will be re-constituted. He will also be visiting Devon during April and Somerset in early May when informal get-togethers are planned with a view to forming official branches in these two counties.
In addition it is hoped that the Chilterns Branch will be re-constituted, and that a new branch in Sussex/Surrey will be founded very shortly.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS
The London Swinton Circle had the very great pleasure of welcoming Lord Stoddart of Swindon, an Independent Labour Life Peer and former Chairman of the Campaign for an Independent Britain, as guest speaker last month. This proved to be a highly successful and well-attended event, in which Lord Stoddart outlined the dangers posed to Britain by the EU's Lisbon Treaty, but then went on to inform everyone about how the House of Lords could still prevent ratification. In this regard he emphasised how important it was for people to write to sitting members of the House of Lords - particularly cross-benchers - asking them to vote against ratification.

NEW BRITAIN NEWS
New Britain held a special event to celebrate St. David's Day in Cardiff this year, during which the National Chairman of New Britain, Mr. Dennis Delderfield, laid a wreath at the Welsh National War Memorial. This event was part of an ongoing series of activities being staged by New Britain throughout the year to emphasise their "Keep the United Kingdom united" campaign.
Mr. Delderfield is also planning to stand for election as Mayor of London this year under the slogan of "Stop the Waste of Public Money". If elected Mr. Delderfield vows not to accept any salary and to do his best to abolish both the post of Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority itself. At the London Mayoral election all voters will be allowed to cast first and second choice votes, with the second choices from all lower-ranked candidates being re-distributed between the two leading first-choice candidates (who almost certainly will prove to be the official Conservative and Labour Party candidates). We therefore have no hesitation in advocating that Mr. Delderfield should receive first choice votes and that Mr. Boris Johnson (the official Conservative Party candidate) the second choices. We know that such advocation may not please supporters of UKIP, whose candidate Mr. Gerard Batten is certainly a most fine and able man. We sincerely believe, however, that Mr. Delderfield's campaign centred around the slogan of "Stop the Waste of Public Money" makes him the more preferable candidate.

SAD NEWS FROM THE ZIMBABWE CONSERVATION TASK FORCE
It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce that Tusker the elephant was shot at around 11:30 on the morning of 6th January 2008.
We received well over 4000 signatures from people all over the world in a desperate plea for his life to be spared. The shooting was scheduled for Monday, the 7th January so it came as a great shock to hear that he was shot a day early.
Tusker's life had been on the line for some time, but the New Year's party that was held at Charara this year was the straw that broke the camel's back. We have had reports of drugs and alcohol being abused at the party by some of the youngsters who attended. It has been confirmed that they were pulling hairs out of Tusker's tail and slapping him on the rump and running away laughing. They were driving around the camp at high speeds, flashing headlights in Tusker's eyes and hooting at him and we have also had reports of fireworks and beer bottles being thrown at him. Despite all this senseless abuse, we have had no reports of Tusker hurting anyone which is testament to his basic good nature.
His "crime", which led to his death penalty, is that he damaged some cars in his search for food. It is not clear how many cars were damaged. We have had reports that the number was between 2 and 7.
The authorities will probably argue that they have a responsibility to protect the humans and that it would only have been a matter of time before somebody was killed by Tusker. Our argument is that a party of this magnitude, which is attended every year by thousands of youngsters should not be held in a National Park. This is why it is called a "game reserve" and not a "people reserve". There is a sign near the entrance of Charara camp that states "No loud music after 9pm" and "no fireworks". The proprietors of Charara camp hire the biggest music system in Zimbabwe and the music is so loud, it can be heard from one and a half miles away. Where were the organizers of the party when the youngsters started throwing fireworks at Tusker? How do people bring their children up so that they behave in such a despicable manner?
We would like thank all the wonderful people who tried to help us to save Tusker from the bottom of our hearts. We had no idea he was loved so much by so many people all over the world. Zimbabwe, and indeed the world, has suffered a very great loss.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?
No.112 : Mrs. TIMMS of Salisbury
Mrs. Timms (alas we never knew her christian name) was a most remarkable woman who ran a chain of guest houses orientated mainly towards the younger generation in central Salisbury during the 1970s - all catered for by one central dining area which provided a magnificent range of food for all meals throughout the day. This present writer first patronised this establishment whilst still a very young man during his first visit to the Rhodesian capital in 1974, and subsequently recommended it to the famous party of (then) young British patriots who toured Rhodesia in order to express their solidarity with their kith and kin in the country two years later. This proved to be a great inspiration, and indeed the colonial architecture of the particular guest house where the party stayed in 1976 prompted much enthusiastic comment, and the environment for much hopeful planning for the future - plans which alas never really came to fruition. We wonder whether anyone could provide us with any further information about the background of this quite remarkable woman and her establishment, and could also let us know what eventually became of her?

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
NOT WITH A BANG BUT A WHIMPER
Sir,
Living in South Africa, I come in contact with a variety of citizens. Many of my friends are conservative Afrikaners, but I have also come across Blacks who are unhappy with the situation in South Africa. Last night I listened on Radio 702 talk radio to a Black listener who said "our culture is not ready for European conditions". He was referring to someone who wanted the speed limit on our motorways increased above 120 km/h. His feeling was that, although they can now afford cars that can comfortably exceed 200 km/h, most African road users are culturally unsuited for this. Many of those who 'phoned in were Whites who advocated raising the speed limit. (The programme was discussing whether our Minister of Defence, who was trapped by police doing 189 km/h, should be treated differently than any other road user.)
The selection of Peter de Villiers to replace Jake White as Springbok coach was ultimately made on racial grounds. He might turn out to be very good, but he starts with a huge handicap - and he acknowledges it. If the 'Boks don't shape within two years, everyone will blame it on a bad choice of coach. On the other hand, if he can hold South African rugby at the top of the log, South Africa Rugby management will be vindicated.
As for Zuma, there is no certainty that he will become President, although he is set to do so. The widening split within the ANC and its partners may be one outcome that will benefit other parties, but I believe the ANC will close ranks to protect their own interests when it comes to elections, as ZANU-PF has done with Mugabe.

I was sent the following newspaper article by a friend in Durban. The attitude and opinions of the demented writer cannot go unanswered. I was wondering if you might include the article in a forthcoming SCN and let your readers write to this offensive idiot telling him what a misguided 'turd world' White-hating commie he is. Nobody answers this type of blatant propaganda in South Africa because they are too scared of the communist authorities powers.

NEVER FORGET TUSKER
Sir,
Johnny Rodrigues, and probably everyone who loved Tusker, would like to have a memorial in some form erected at the gate to the park where Tusker lived and died.
We are brainstorming just what the memorial should be and if we can accomplish this with donated talent and funds:-
How should it look?
What should it be made of?
Who will design it?
Who will be the artist that creates it?
Will it be made in Zimbabwe, or will it be made elsewhere and moved to the site?
What will it cost?
Will someone donate their skills in design and/or artistry?
Can we get a team to work together to do it?
Can we raise the funds if we cannot get a donor?
How about everyone who has an idea for a design submit it so that everyone can see them. What if we have a friendly contest to see who can come up with the best design?
These are all things that must be considered, and hopefully, can be accomplished.
Here is one idea that I sent to Johnny:-
"I am wondering if we can't find someone to volunteer to make a big bronze plaque or statue of Tusker with the poem from Elise Matthes and the farewell letter you wrote to Tusker and the three pictures of him. Then it could be placed at the wildlife park entrance, and everyone could read about the terrible deed and the terrible loss of a magnificent animal that they will NEVER get to see because of human ignorance and cruelty."

March 2008 edition
As the 2008 US Presidential Election nears its conclusion this is perhaps an ideal time to look back over the presidency of George W. Bush.
Our movement supported George W. Bush in both the 2000 and 2004 elections, and his record in office as a whole certainly hasn't disappointed. To be sure, we could be critical about some of his domestic policies where he perhaps hasn't delivered on all his promises, but from a non-American standpoint such matters are not really of concern to us - and furthermore it must be born in mind that for the past couple of years he has had to work with an antagonistic Democratic-led Congress.
Of far more concern to those of us elsewhere in the Western World, however, has been his foreign policy, and here his record can only be praised. Following the 9/11 atrocities he showed great courage and guts in confronting Taliban and al-Qa'eda terrorists militarily in both Afghanistan and Iraq, and thereby saved the West from far more frightening Islamic advances and incursions into our historic homelands. It would be very difficult to imagine Clinton, Gore or Kerry possessing the necessary political bravery to take such military action, and by so doing George W. Bush has placed his name alongside such heroes as Charles Martel of France and King Jan III Sobieski of Poland by saving Europe from further invasion by Mohammedan hordes. Of equal importance, furthermore, has been the determination of George W. Bush (a strong admirer of Sir Winston Churchill) to strengthen the Special Relationship between the US and the UK - even though initially Tony Blair seemed a most unlikely ally in this respect! By strengthening the Atlantic Alliance in this way British foreign policy has started to look increasingly west towards its traditional and natural partners, and away from increasingly involvement with the harmful and artificial European Union. If we have any severe criticisms of the foreign policy of the George W. Bush Administration then it has been their recognition of the illegitimate statelet of Kosovo, and - perhaps - their less than robust support for the State of Israel in its frontline battles against expansionist Islam. These failings apart, however, we still believe that everyone in the West must say a big thank-you to President George W. Bush.
But what of the future? For well over a year we have been strongly of the opinion that only one man possesses the necessary experience, talents and determination to become an effective next President of the United States during these troubled times - Senator John McCain of Arizona. It has therefore been a great joy - though not particularly a surprise - to learn that he has now secured the GOP presidential nomination for 2008, and thereby will almost certainly become the 44th President of the United States. Our full support and congratulations are therefore extended to Senator McCain.
Meanwhile the opposition Democratic contest is dire in the extreme. A Hillary Clinton presidency would undoubtedly be catastrophic for the West - but a triumph for Barack Hussein Obama seems too ghastly to contemplate. Our objection to Obama isn't because he's Black (we would have absolutely no qualms if Condi Rice was eventually to have a tilt at the presidency for instance) but because he is not a proper American - not a proper Westerner. How the son of a White atheist miscegenist and a Kenyan Muslim goat-herdsman, schooled at a Madrassa in Indonesia, could ever be contemplated as a candidate for the US presidency (and thereby to become the leader of the Western World) defies all belief! The most astonishing factor about all this is not the support which this hideous figure is unsurprisingly receiving from America's increasingly worrying number of ethnics, but the backing which he is obtaining from seemingly so many self-hating "Whites". Alas there seems to be something very rotten infecting American society at the moment. We wish the true American people well in defeating this poisonous attitude.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC FEBRUARY MEETING
Last month the Springbok Club/ELC was most privileged to be able to welcome Professor Charles Muller as guest speaker. Prof. Muller, who was formerly professor of English at both the University of the North and at UNISA, now runs his own highly successful publishing company, Diadem Books, in the UK. The latest book which Diadem Books has published has been the biography of Sir Winston Churchill's wartime secretary, Elizabeth Nel. In his speech Prof. Muller told something about the most interesting history of his publishing venture, and specifically recounted the background to Elizabeth Nel's biography, "Winston Churchill by his Personal Secretary". He was then joined by two of the authors of other works which Diadem Books has published, Monika Pavlik and Bryan Marlowe, who read several most interesting extracts from their books.

SPRINGBBOK CLUB/ELC BRANCH NEWS
The London Branch of the SC/ELC will be staging a trip to see the finish of the Doggett's Coat & Badge race on the Thames in July/August.
A member of the ExCo of the SC/ELC anticipates being in Belfast during August, when it is hoped that the Northern Ireland Branch of the organisation will be re-constituted. He will also be visiting Devon during April and Somerset in early May when informal get-togethers are planned with a view to forming official branches in these two counties.
In addition it is hoped that the Chilterns Branch will be re-constituted, and that a new branch in Sussex/Surrey will be founded very shortly.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS
The London Swinton Circle had the very great pleasure of welcoming Lord Stoddart of Swindon, an Independent Labour Life Peer and former Chairman of the Campaign for an Independent Britain, as guest speaker last month. This proved to be a highly successful and well-attended event, in which Lord Stoddart outlined the dangers posed to Britain by the EU's Lisbon Treaty, but then went on to inform everyone about how the House of Lords could still prevent ratification. In this regard he emphasised how important it was for people to write to sitting members of the House of Lords - particularly cross-benchers - asking them to vote against ratification.

NEW BRITAIN NEWS
New Britain held a special event to celebrate St. David's Day in Cardiff this year, during which the National Chairman of New Britain, Mr. Dennis Delderfield, laid a wreath at the Welsh National War Memorial. This event was part of an ongoing series of activities being staged by New Britain throughout the year to emphasise their "Keep the United Kingdom united" campaign.
Mr. Delderfield is also planning to stand for election as Mayor of London this year under the slogan of "Stop the Waste of Public Money". If elected Mr. Delderfield vows not to accept any salary and to do his best to abolish both the post of Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority itself. At the London Mayoral election all voters will be allowed to cast first and second choice votes, with the second choices from all lower-ranked candidates being re-distributed between the two leading first-choice candidates (who almost certainly will prove to be the official Conservative and Labour Party candidates). We therefore have no hesitation in advocating that Mr. Delderfield should receive first choice votes and that Mr. Boris Johnson (the official Conservative Party candidate) the second choices. We know that such advocation may not please supporters of UKIP, whose candidate Mr. Gerard Batten is certainly a most fine and able man. We sincerely believe, however, that Mr. Delderfield's campaign centred around the slogan of "Stop the Waste of Public Money" makes him the more preferable candidate.

SAD NEWS FROM THE ZIMBABWE CONSERVATION TASK FORCE
It is with deep regret and sadness that we announce that Tusker the elephant was shot at around 11:30 on the morning of 6th January 2008.
We received well over 4000 signatures from people all over the world in a desperate plea for his life to be spared. The shooting was scheduled for Monday, the 7th January so it came as a great shock to hear that he was shot a day early.
Tusker's life had been on the line for some time, but the New Year's party that was held at Charara this year was the straw that broke the camel's back. We have had reports of drugs and alcohol being abused at the party by some of the youngsters who attended. It has been confirmed that they were pulling hairs out of Tusker's tail and slapping him on the rump and running away laughing. They were driving around the camp at high speeds, flashing headlights in Tusker's eyes and hooting at him and we have also had reports of fireworks and beer bottles being thrown at him. Despite all this senseless abuse, we have had no reports of Tusker hurting anyone which is testament to his basic good nature.
His "crime", which led to his death penalty, is that he damaged some cars in his search for food. It is not clear how many cars were damaged. We have had reports that the number was between 2 and 7.
The authorities will probably argue that they have a responsibility to protect the humans and that it would only have been a matter of time before somebody was killed by Tusker. Our argument is that a party of this magnitude, which is attended every year by thousands of youngsters should not be held in a National Park. This is why it is called a "game reserve" and not a "people reserve". There is a sign near the entrance of Charara camp that states "No loud music after 9pm" and "no fireworks". The proprietors of Charara camp hire the biggest music system in Zimbabwe and the music is so loud, it can be heard from one and a half miles away. Where were the organizers of the party when the youngsters started throwing fireworks at Tusker? How do people bring their children up so that they behave in such a despicable manner?
We would like thank all the wonderful people who tried to help us to save Tusker from the bottom of our hearts. We had no idea he was loved so much by so many people all over the world. Zimbabwe, and indeed the world, has suffered a very great loss.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?
No.112 : Mrs. TIMMS of Salisbury
Mrs. Timms (alas we never knew her christian name) was a most remarkable woman who ran a chain of guest houses orientated mainly towards the younger generation in central Salisbury during the 1970s - all catered for by one central dining area which provided a magnificent range of food for all meals throughout the day. This present writer first patronised this establishment whilst still a very young man during his first visit to the Rhodesian capital in 1974, and subsequently recommended it to the famous party of (then) young British patriots who toured Rhodesia in order to express their solidarity with their kith and kin in the country two years later. This proved to be a great inspiration, and indeed the colonial architecture of the particular guest house where the party stayed in 1976 prompted much enthusiastic comment, and the environment for much hopeful planning for the future - plans which alas never really came to fruition. We wonder whether anyone could provide us with any further information about the background of this quite remarkable woman and her establishment, and could also let us know what eventually became of her?

NOT WITH A BANG BUT A WHIMPER
Sir,
Living in South Africa, I come in contact with a variety of citizens. Many of my friends are conservative Afrikaners, but I have also come across Blacks who are unhappy with the situation in South Africa. Last night I listened on Radio 702 talk radio to a Black listener who said "our culture is not ready for European conditions". He was referring to someone who wanted the speed limit on our motorways increased above 120 km/h. His feeling was that, although they can now afford cars that can comfortably exceed 200 km/h, most African road users are culturally unsuited for this. Many of those who 'phoned in were Whites who advocated raising the speed limit. (The programme was discussing whether our Minister of Defence, who was trapped by police doing 189 km/h, should be treated differently than any other road user.)
The selection of Peter de Villiers to replace Jake White as Springbok coach was ultimately made on racial grounds. He might turn out to be very good, but he starts with a huge handicap - and he acknowledges it. If the 'Boks don't shape within two years, everyone will blame it on a bad choice of coach. On the other hand, if he can hold South African rugby at the top of the log, South Africa Rugby management will be vindicated.
As for Zuma, there is no certainty that he will become President, although he is set to do so. The widening split within the ANC and its partners may be one outcome that will benefit other parties, but I believe the ANC will close ranks to protect their own interests when it comes to elections, as ZANU-PF has done with Mugabe.

NEVER FORGET TUSKER
Sir,
Johnny Rodrigues, and probably everyone who loved Tusker, would like to have a memorial in some form erected at the gate to the park where Tusker lived and died.
We are brainstorming just what the memorial should be and if we can accomplish this with donated talent and funds:-
How should it look?
What should it be made of?
Who will design it?
Who will be the artist that creates it?
Will it be made in Zimbabwe, or will it be made elsewhere and moved to the site?
What will it cost?
Will someone donate their skills in design and/or artistry?
Can we get a team to work together to do it?
Can we raise the funds if we cannot get a donor?
How about everyone who has an idea for a design submit it so that everyone can see them. What if we have a friendly contest to see who can come up with the best design?
These are all things that must be considered, and hopefully, can be accomplished.
Here is one idea that I sent to Johnny:-
"I am wondering if we can't find someone to volunteer to make a big bronze plaque or statue of Tusker with the poem from Elise Matthes and the farewell letter you wrote to Tusker and the three pictures of him. Then it could be placed at the wildlife park entrance, and everyone could read about the terrible deed and the terrible loss of a magnificent animal that they will NEVER get to see because of human ignorance and cruelty."

Few pieces of news can have delighted the hearts of all decent people more than the recent demise of the unspeakable Peter Hain.
Hain's despicable history has been well detailed in these columns before, and showed a consistent demonic hatred for his own kith and kin. It all started with his leadership of the evil "Stop the 70 Tour" campaign, which sought to deny people in Britain and South Africa innocent sporting pleasure simply because Hain and his fellow kill-joys didn't like the form of democracy then in existence in South Africa. Many of the actions of this vile campaign - such as the scattering of tin-tacks on rugby grounds, the hi-jacking of a player's coach and threats to shoot off cricket bails with sniper rifles - can only be described as quasi-terrorist operations. Such is the background of the repulsive Mr.Hain.
Incredibly the socialist windbag Neil Kinnock allowed the controversy-plagued Hain to enter Labour's parliamentary ranks, and to their eternal shames both Blair and Brown gave him ministerial rank. Once he got his dirty hands on the levers of power Hain was able to give substance to his hatred for his race and the British nation. As a junior Welsh minister he deviously orchestrated devolution in Wales (a necessary pre-cursor to our enemies' hoped-for break-up of the United Kingdom), and then after being promoted to become a junior Foreign & Commonwealth minister was heavily involved in the attempted sell-out of our loyal colony of Gibraltar to Spain - an attempt which was expertly stymied by Gibraltar Chief Minister Peter Caruana's clever ploy of holding a decisive referendum confirming the Gibraltarian people's overwhelming desire to maintain their current constitutional position.
Most disturbingly the trouble-making Hain was then promoted to cabinet rank by the crypto-Catholic Tony Blair, and unbelievably given the position of Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, where his task was apparently to enact the final sell-out of the loyal province of Ulster to the RC-dominated Republic of Ireland. Happily Hain's evil machinations were once more stymied, this time by the loyalist people of Ulster who voted the hard-line DUP into power, who were then able to out-manoeuvre both the Blairite and RoI governments to maintain Northern Ireland's position within the United Kingdom.
Although Gordon Brown retained the wretched Hain in his cabinet, he at least moved him away from any position where he could attempt further constitutional damage. But for Hain-the-pain even worse problems were to follow. Arrogantly he decided to stand for the Labour Party Deputy Leadership, yet in spite of obtaining more money than all the other five candidates put together (as subsequently revealed) he only managed to come an ignominious fifth out of six. Furthermore the campaign exposed the level of contempt and hatred which the rank and file of the Labour movement evidently has for the poisonous Peter Hain.
Hain's recent demise, however, has had all the hallmarks of divine retribution. Once irregularities in his campaign financing had been detected (ironically only becoming illegal as a result of legislation introduced by the present Labour government!) he was quickly deserted by all his cabinet colleagues - thus confirming that it wasn't just the lower ranks of the Labour Party who detested him. An incident which occurred when the wretched creature read out his resignation statement on the steps of his former ministry was perhaps the most telling however, for it was
reported that building workers on a site across the road loudly booed him. These building workers couldn't have been particularly concerned about irregularities in his campaign financing, nor familiar with the intricacies of his attempted constitutional betrayals in his previous ministerial positions - no, what these building workers were aware of and what angered them so much was undoubtedly Hain's earlier violent anti-South African campaign. In this these building workers spoke better for the true people of Britain than anyone has done for many years.
As the old saying goes "He who laughs last laughs longest"; it may have been a very long time coming, but this only means that Hain's demise gives even more reason to rejoice. Let us hope that he crawls back to the sewer from whence he came never to emerge again.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC JANUARY MEETING
The Springbok Club/ELC was most pleased to be able to welcome Mr. John O'Brien as their guest speaker for their January meeting. Mr. O'Brien, who is Chairman of the Newbury Branch of Rhodesians Worldwide and a former trustee and National Chairman of the Rhodesians Worldwide Assistance Fund, was a leading organiser of the official UK memorial service in honour of the Hon. Ian Douglas Smith which was held in Berkshire during December. He gave a marvellous account of the memorial service - brought to life by pictures shown on his lap-top computer - which made all present feel that they had actually attended the event. After this he gave a most interesting and informative report on the important work of not only the RWAF, but also the M'dala Trust, a charity which was very close to the Hon. Ian Smith's heart during his final years.

Orange Free State-born Charles Humphrey Muller, MA (Wales), PhD (London), DLitt (OFS), DEd (SA), was Professor and Head of the Department of English at the University of the North in South Africa for ten years, and Senior Lecturer in English at the University of South Africa before that. He is the author of numerous academic textbooks and literary studies published by Oxford University Press and McGraw-Hill, and was editor of Unisa English Studies and Communiqué, literary journals of the University of South Africa and the University of the North respectively. In 1988 he left his academic career to move to the UK where he bought a small hotel, the Kenmore Bank Hotel in Jedburgh, Roxburghshire, to devote more time to creative writing. He has since written a number of novels ("A Twist in Time", "The Cage and the Cross", "Wheel of Fortune" and "Continental Drift"), and with his wife Joanne has co-authored two novels ("Rapture at Sea" and "Spirit of Ecstasy" by 'Carolyn Charles'). He wrote the inspirational work "Have Anything You Really Really Want", and served as editor for his wife's 'self-help' book "So You Want to Buy a Small Hotel!". After he sold his hotel in 2000 he established his own editing and publishing business, "Diadem Books", moving to the Grea Glen. Altogether he has published over 200 books in various categories. At present he lives in Clashnessie on the wild north-west coast of Sutherland, but spends summers at his home in Nova Scotia. The latest and perhaps greatest work published by "Diadem Books" is "Winston Churchill by his Personal Secretary", a biography of Sir Winston Churchill's wartime secretary Elizabeth Nel (who married a South African WWII serviceman and subsequently moved to Port Elizabeth), and this will form the main topic of Mr. Muller's talk.

The Springbok Club is planning to hold a special day-long celebration to mark Van Riebeeck's Day on Saturday 5th April in Stepney, east London. This will feature braai facilities, a bar, musical entertainment, South African-orientated videos and the presence of a number of prominent personalities. The Kent Branch of the SC/ELC is planning an informal pub gathering on the north Kent coast on Sunday 2nd March.
The London Branch of the SC/ELC will be staging a trip to see the finish of the Doggett's Coat & Badge race on the Thames in July/August.
A member of the ExCo of the SC/ELC anticipates being in Belfast during August, when it is hoped that the Northern Ireland Branch of the organisation will be re-constituted.

The London Swinton Circle was most honoured to welcome Mr. Peter Bone MP, the Conservative MP for Wellingborough and Rushden, as guest speaker last month. This proved a very successful and well-attended event, with Mr. Bone (a leading member of the "Better Off Out" group) giving a most inspiring speech detailing how many of the problems facing today's Britain could be rectified by a future Conservative government, particularly in relation to the UK's continuing membership of the EU.

NEW BRITAIN NEWS
New Britain staged their traditional ceremony at the bust of Admiral Arthur Phillip (the founder of Sydney and the first Governor of Australia) in the City of London on Australia Day (January 26th), where a floral tribute was laid by Mr. Dennis Delderfield, the National Chairman of the organisation. The Australian National Anthem was then sung, which was followed by a march headed by an Australian flag-bearer to the near-by St.Katherine Cree Church where a special service to mark the occasion was held. Throughout the day special Australia Day celebrations were also held at the Australian-themed Walkabout pub near Temple which was attended by an estimated 2000 people - most adorned with the REAL Australian flag! The Australian National Anthem was constantly played throughout the evening - as well as the New Zealand National Anthem at the end of the night. Apart from masses of expat Australians and New Zealanders, there were also a number of Brits, South Africans and at least one South-West African present at this crowded event - thus confirming the continuing friendship and unity between the pan-British people around the globe.
New Britain also held a ceremony to mark New Zealand's National Day on 6th February at the statue of Capt. James Cook in The Mall, which was followed by a special New Zealand-themed lunch and talk about the country.
The National Chairman of New Britain, Mr. Dennis Delderfield, is planning to stand for election for Mayor of London this year under the slogan of "Stop the Waste of Public Money". If elected Mr. Delderfield vows not to accept any salary and to do his best to abolish both the post of Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority. He also plans to visit Cardiff on St.David's Day, 1st March, in order to take part in a special event to mark the Welsh patron saint's day.

REPORT FROM THE ZIMBABWE CONSERVATION TASK FORCE
Our biggest concern is the fate of the rhino in Zimbabwe. In the past 3 months we have lost 11, which is totally unacceptable. We cannot stress enough, the importance of protecting this gravely endangered species, not only for Zimbabwe but for the world as a whole.
Everybody has now heard about the Imire tragedy, where 3 black rhino were gunned down by men in military uniform. If you count the foetus that was only a week away from being born, we actually lost 12 rhino in the past 3 months - that we know of. A substantial reward has been raised for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of this atrocity. The reward will be paid to the informant by National Parks once the criminals have been apprehended, so if anyone has any information please contact either National Parks on 792731 or the ZCTF on galorand@mweb.co.zw.

Johannes Louw was the son of that great friend of our movement Adv. Martin Louw, and the grandson of Dr. Eric Louw, the former South African Foreign Minister and Minister for Economic Affairs. No less of a genius himself, Johannes Louw graduated in Media Studies at the University of Potchefstroom vir CHE, and was a regular contributor to S.A.Patriot. Alas contact with him was broken when we were forced to relocate our operations to the UK, but we managed to re-make contact with him via e-mail at the start of the Internet age, when we learnt that he was working in the press and public relations department of the SAP. Unfortunately contact with him again ceased a few years ago when we believe that he was foced to leave the re-constructed SAPS, but we would be very keen to learn where he is now.

I am afraid that I couldn't attend the Memorial Service to the Hon. Ian Smith, but I hope the event went well. He was a good man and it was my privilege to have met him.
I know that Ian Smith had been recommended for a DFC and DSO and was blocked. Have you heard this?
He was very intelligent and may have been targeted by the Abwehr early on - it's a classic German tactic, talent-spotting and blocking the talent. They think long. Heath's MBE was pushed for example by German assets in the War Office. We know the Air Ministry was penetrated, hardly surprising with buffoons like Kingsley Wood as Air Minister!
Might be worth a closer look. I am thinking in terms of a posthumous award, exceptionally, if it turns out his medals were blocked for political reasons. I am sure he earned them.

ROGUES GALLERY
A supporter has recently given us a copy of the January 2008 edition of the anti-fascist magazine Searchlight, which details in depth the recent internal friction and split within the neo-fascist BNP.
Normally, of course, such matters wouldn't concern us in the slightest, but evidently the person mainly being blamed for these internal problems by one of the factions involved (by all accounts the more democratically-orientated faction) is none other than young Mr. Arthur Kemp - who apparently has now left his wife and children in South Africa to become the de facto No.2 in the neo-fascist organisation!
Arthur Kemp is very well known to us of course, as has been detailed in many previous editions of the SCN, and from our own experience those involved have every reason to be very suspicious of this young man, who they evidently term "the South African spook". Kemp seemed a good friend of our movement during the 1980s, and indeed wrote regularly for S.A.Patriot under the pseudonym of Adrian Kotze, but we were warned to be very wary of him by sources in the Transvaal because he was allegedly working for the South African intelligence services. Shortly after we were forced to leave South Africa and the ANC regime came to power in the early 1990s Kemp suddenly changed his political stance radically, turning from a mainstream centre-right patriot like ourselves, to becoming an off-the-edge neo-Nazi nutter. He then irrationally turned on his former friends and bizarrely claimed - without any foundation whatsoever - that it was us rather than him who had changed political views (one only has to read through copies of successive editions of S.A.Patriot/S.A.Patriot-in-Exile and the SCN to see how ridiculous this claim is!). It was then revealed both by The Mail & Guardian and subsequently by Searchlight that Kemp was working for the "new" South African security services (having apparently simply been handed-over as an "asset" by the previous NP administration to the incoming ANC regime) where his job was apparently to adopt an extremist neo-Nazi image and then to infiltrate authentic opposition organisations in South Africa in order to smear and embarrass them by association. His usefulness to the "new" South African authorities now being over it would appear that he has simply been handed-over to their British equivalents.
We would actually disagree with Searchlight on two of their observations about Kemp. They criticise him for having worked for the NP intelligence apparatus, whereas our condemnation of him is for seemingly willingly being handed-over to the incoming ANC security structure with apparently no objection whatsoever. They criticise him for being involved in the assassination of the ANC terrorist leader Chris Hani, whereas we condemn him for turning State's Evidence against that great South African hero Clive Derby-Lewis. It would be interesting to make contact with the more democratically-orientated faction of the BNP in order to compare notes about this young man.

OBITUARY
NORMAN REEVES
It was with much sadness that we recently learnt of the sudden death of Norman Reeves towards the end of last year.
Norman Reeves enjoyed a distinguished service career with the SADF, serving as an officer with both the Parabats (the Parachute Battalion) and the crack Recce Commandos. He was also for a time very active with the patriotic movement in the Durban area, being an early supporter of S.A.Patriot and giving the magazine good publicity in the "freebee" newspaper which he then ran in Pinetown. Alas he disappeared from the scene during the mid-1980s, and apparently decided to remain in the "new" South Africa, but he subsequently re-surfaced a few years ago running his own private security company, CombatSecurity, which became a thorn in the side of the ANC regime because - unlike the SAPS - they proved very efficient in combating crime in Natal.
Norman was in rude health and only in his early 60s when he died suddenly of a heart attack - something which many people regard as suspicious. Our sincerest condolences are extended to Norman's widow Tersha.

February 2008 edition
Few pieces of news can have delighted the hearts of all decent people more than the recent demise of the unspeakable Peter Hain.
Hain's despicable history has been well detailed in these columns before, and showed a consistent demonic hatred for his own kith and kin. It all started with his leadership of the evil "Stop the 70 Tour" campaign, which sought to deny people in Britain and South Africa innocent sporting pleasure simply because Hain and his fellow kill-joys didn't like the form of democracy then in existence in South Africa. Many of the actions of this vile campaign - such as the scattering of tin-tacks on rugby grounds, the hi-jacking of a player's coach and threats to shoot off cricket bails with sniper rifles - can only be described as quasi-terrorist operations. Such is the background of the repulsive Mr.Hain.
Incredibly the socialist windbag Neil Kinnock allowed the controversy-plagued Hain to enter Labour's parliamentary ranks, and to their eternal shames both Blair and Brown gave him ministerial rank. Once he got his dirty hands on the levers of power Hain was able to give substance to his hatred for his race and the British nation. As a junior Welsh minister he deviously orchestrated devolution in Wales (a necessary pre-cursor to our enemies' hoped-for break-up of the United Kingdom), and then after being promoted to become a junior Foreign & Commonwealth minister was heavily involved in the attempted sell-out of our loyal colony of Gibraltar to Spain - an attempt which was expertly stymied by Gibraltar Chief Minister Peter Caruana's clever ploy of holding a decisive referendum confirming the Gibraltarian people's overwhelming desire to maintain their current constitutional position.
Most disturbingly the trouble-making Hain was then promoted to cabinet rank by the crypto-Catholic Tony Blair, and unbelievably given the position of Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, where his task was apparently to enact the final sell-out of the loyal province of Ulster to the RC-dominated Republic of Ireland. Happily Hain's evil machinations were once more stymied, this time by the loyalist people of Ulster who voted the hard-line DUP into power, who were then able to out-manoeuvre both the Blairite and RoI governments to maintain Northern Ireland's position within the United Kingdom.
Although Gordon Brown retained the wretched Hain in his cabinet, he at least moved him away from any position where he could attempt further constitutional damage. But for Hain-the-pain even worse problems were to follow. Arrogantly he decided to stand for the Labour Party Deputy Leadership, yet in spite of obtaining more money than all the other five candidates put together (as subsequently revealed) he only managed to come an ignominious fifth out of six. Furthermore the campaign exposed the level of contempt and hatred which the rank and file of the Labour movement evidently has for the poisonous Peter Hain.
Hain's recent demise, however, has had all the hallmarks of divine retribution. Once irregularities in his campaign financing had been detected (ironically only becoming illegal as a result of legislation introduced by the present Labour government!) he was quickly deserted by all his cabinet colleagues - thus confirming that it wasn't just the lower ranks of the Labour Party who detested him. An incident which occurred when the wretched creature read out his resignation statement on the steps of his former ministry was perhaps the most telling however, for it was
reported that building workers on a site across the road loudly booed him. These building workers couldn't have been particularly concerned about irregularities in his campaign financing, nor familiar with the intricacies of his attempted constitutional betrayals in his previous ministerial positions - no, what these building workers were aware of and what angered them so much was undoubtedly Hain's earlier violent anti-South African campaign. In this these building workers spoke better for the true people of Britain than anyone has done for many years.
As the old saying goes "He who laughs last laughs longest"; it may have been a very long time coming, but this only means that Hain's demise gives even more reason to rejoice. Let us hope that he crawls back to the sewer from whence he came never to emerge again.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC JANUARY MEETING
The Springbok Club/ELC was most pleased to be able to welcome Mr. John O'Brien as their guest speaker for their January meeting. Mr. O'Brien, who is Chairman of the Newbury Branch of Rhodesians Worldwide and a former trustee and National Chairman of the Rhodesians Worldwide Assistance Fund, was a leading organiser of the official UK memorial service in honour of the Hon. Ian Douglas Smith which was held in Berkshire during December. He gave a marvellous account of the memorial service - brought to life by pictures shown on his lap-top computer - which made all present feel that they had actually attended the event. After this he gave a most interesting and informative report on the important work of not only the RWAF, but also the M'dala Trust, a charity which was very close to the Hon. Ian Smith's heart during his final years.

Orange Free State-born Charles Humphrey Muller, MA (Wales), PhD (London), DLitt (OFS), DEd (SA), was Professor and Head of the Department of English at the University of the North in South Africa for ten years, and Senior Lecturer in English at the University of South Africa before that. He is the author of numerous academic textbooks and literary studies published by Oxford University Press and McGraw-Hill, and was editor of Unisa English Studies and Communiqué, literary journals of the University of South Africa and the University of the North respectively. In 1988 he left his academic career to move to the UK where he bought a small hotel, the Kenmore Bank Hotel in Jedburgh, Roxburghshire, to devote more time to creative writing. He has since written a number of novels ("A Twist in Time", "The Cage and the Cross", "Wheel of Fortune" and "Continental Drift"), and with his wife Joanne has co-authored two novels ("Rapture at Sea" and "Spirit of Ecstasy" by 'Carolyn Charles'). He wrote the inspirational work "Have Anything You Really Really Want", and served as editor for his wife's 'self-help' book "So You Want to Buy a Small Hotel!". After he sold his hotel in 2000 he established his own editing and publishing business, "Diadem Books", moving to the Grea Glen. Altogether he has published over 200 books in various categories. At present he lives in Clashnessie on the wild north-west coast of Sutherland, but spends summers at his home in Nova Scotia. The latest and perhaps greatest work published by "Diadem Books" is "Winston Churchill by his Personal Secretary", a biography of Sir Winston Churchill's wartime secretary Elizabeth Nel (who married a South African WWII serviceman and subsequently moved to Port Elizabeth), and this will form the main topic of Mr. Muller's talk.

The Kent Branch of the SC/ELC is planning an informal pub gathering on the north Kent coast on Sunday 2nd March.

A member of the ExCo of the SC/ELC anticipates being in Belfast during August, when it is hoped that the Northern Ireland Branch of the organisation will be re-constituted.

The London Swinton Circle was most honoured to welcome Mr. Peter Bone MP, the Conservative MP for Wellingborough and Rushden, as guest speaker last month. This proved a very successful and well-attended event, with Mr. Bone (a leading member of the "Better Off Out" group) giving a most inspiring speech detailing how many of the problems facing today's Britain could be rectified by a future Conservative government, particularly in relation to the UK's continuing membership of the EU.

NEW BRITAIN NEWS
New Britain staged their traditional ceremony at the bust of Admiral Arthur Phillip (the founder of Sydney and the first Governor of Australia) in the City of London on Australia Day (January 26th), where a floral tribute was laid by Mr. Dennis Delderfield, the National Chairman of the organisation. The Australian National Anthem was then sung, which was followed by a march headed by an Australian flag-bearer to the near-by St.Katherine Cree Church where a special service to mark the occasion was held. Throughout the day special Australia Day celebrations were also held at the Australian-themed Walkabout pub near Temple which was attended by an estimated 2000 people - most adorned with the REAL Australian flag! The Australian National Anthem was constantly played throughout the evening - as well as the New Zealand National Anthem at the end of the night. Apart from masses of expat Australians and New Zealanders, there were also a number of Brits, South Africans and at least one South-West African present at this crowded event - thus confirming the continuing friendship and unity between the pan-British people around the globe.
New Britain also held a ceremony to mark New Zealand's National Day on 6th February at the statue of Capt. James Cook in The Mall, which was followed by a special New Zealand-themed lunch and talk about the country.
The National Chairman of New Britain, Mr. Dennis Delderfield, is planning to stand for election for Mayor of London this year under the slogan of "Stop the Waste of Public Money". If elected Mr. Delderfield vows not to accept any salary and to do his best to abolish both the post of Mayor of London and the Greater London Authority. He also plans to visit Cardiff on St.David's Day, 1st March, in order to take part in a special event to mark the Welsh patron saint's day.

REPORT FROM THE ZIMBABWE CONSERVATION TASK FORCE
Our biggest concern is the fate of the rhino in Zimbabwe. In the past 3 months we have lost 11, which is totally unacceptable. We cannot stress enough, the importance of protecting this gravely endangered species, not only for Zimbabwe but for the world as a whole.
Everybody has now heard about the Imire tragedy, where 3 black rhino were gunned down by men in military uniform. If you count the foetus that was only a week away from being born, we actually lost 12 rhino in the past 3 months - that we know of. A substantial reward has been raised for information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators of this atrocity. The reward will be paid to the informant by National Parks once the criminals have been apprehended, so if anyone has any information please contact either National Parks on 792731 or the ZCTF on galorand@mweb.co.zw.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?
No.111 : Mr. JOHANNES LOUW of Durban
Johannes Louw was the son of that great friend of our movement Adv. Martin Louw, and the grandson of Dr. Eric Louw, the former South African Foreign Minister and Minister for Economic Affairs. No less of a genius himself, Johannes Louw graduated in Media Studies at the University of Potchefstroom vir CHE, and was a regular contributor to S.A.Patriot. Alas contact with him was broken when we were forced to relocate our operations to the UK, but we managed to re-make contact with him via e-mail at the start of the Internet age, when we learnt that he was working in the press and public relations department of the SAP. Unfortunately contact with him again ceased a few years ago when we believe that he was foced to leave the re-constructed SAPS, but we would be very keen to learn where he is now.

I am afraid that I couldn't attend the Memorial Service to the Hon. Ian Smith, but I hope the event went well. He was a good man and it was my privilege to have met him.
I know that Ian Smith had been recommended for a DFC and DSO and was blocked. Have you heard this?
He was very intelligent and may have been targeted by the Abwehr early on - it's a classic German tactic, talent-spotting and blocking the talent. They think long. Heath's MBE was pushed for example by German assets in the War Office. We know the Air Ministry was penetrated, hardly surprising with buffoons like Kingsley Wood as Air Minister!
Might be worth a closer look. I am thinking in terms of a posthumous award, exceptionally, if it turns out his medals were blocked for political reasons. I am sure he earned them.

ROGUES GALLERY
A supporter has recently given us a copy of the January 2008 edition of the anti-fascist magazine Searchlight, which details in depth the recent internal friction and split within the neo-fascist BNP.
Normally, of course, such matters wouldn't concern us in the slightest, but evidently the person mainly being blamed for these internal problems by one of the factions involved (by all accounts the more democratically-orientated faction) is none other than young Mr. Arthur Kemp - who apparently has now left his wife and children in South Africa to become the de facto No.2 in the neo-fascist organisation!
Arthur Kemp is very well known to us of course, as has been detailed in many previous editions of the SCN, and from our own experience those involved have every reason to be very suspicious of this young man, who they evidently term "the South African spook". Kemp seemed a good friend of our movement during the 1980s, and indeed wrote regularly for S.A.Patriot under the pseudonym of Adrian Kotze, but we were warned to be very wary of him by sources in the Transvaal because he was allegedly working for the South African intelligence services. Shortly after we were forced to leave South Africa and the ANC regime came to power in the early 1990s Kemp suddenly changed his political stance radically, turning from a mainstream centre-right patriot like ourselves, to becoming an off-the-edge neo-Nazi nutter. He then irrationally turned on his former friends and bizarrely claimed - without any foundation whatsoever - that it was us rather than him who had changed political views (one only has to read through copies of successive editions of S.A.Patriot/S.A.Patriot-in-Exile and the SCN to see how ridiculous this claim is!). It was then revealed both by The Mail & Guardian and subsequently by Searchlight that Kemp was working for the "new" South African security services (having apparently simply been handed-over as an "asset" by the previous NP administration to the incoming ANC regime) where his job was apparently to adopt an extremist neo-Nazi image and then to infiltrate authentic opposition organisations in South Africa in order to smear and embarrass them by association. His usefulness to the "new" South African authorities now being over it would appear that he has simply been handed-over to their British equivalents.
We would actually disagree with Searchlight on two of their observations about Kemp. They criticise him for having worked for the NP intelligence apparatus, whereas our condemnation of him is for seemingly willingly being handed-over to the incoming ANC security structure with apparently no objection whatsoever. They criticise him for being involved in the assassination of the ANC terrorist leader Chris Hani, whereas we condemn him for turning State's Evidence against that great South African hero Clive Derby-Lewis. It would be interesting to make contact with the more democratically-orientated faction of the BNP in order to compare notes about this young man.

OBITUARY
NORMAN REEVES
It was with much sadness that we recently learnt of the sudden death of Norman Reeves towards the end of last year.
Norman Reeves enjoyed a distinguished service career with the SADF, serving as an officer with both the Parabats (the Parachute Battalion) and the crack Recce Commandos. He was also for a time very active with the patriotic movement in the Durban area, being an early supporter of S.A.Patriot and giving the magazine good publicity in the "freebee" newspaper which he then ran in Pinetown. Alas he disappeared from the scene during the mid-1980s, and apparently decided to remain in the "new" South Africa, but he subsequently re-surfaced a few years ago running his own private security company, CombatSecurity, which became a thorn in the side of the ANC regime because - unlike the SAPS - they proved very efficient in combating crime in Natal.
Norman was in rude health and only in his early 60s when he died suddenly of a heart attack - something which many people regard as suspicious. Our sincerest condolences are extended to Norman's widow Tersha.
