May 2002 edition
Recent elections results in both the Netherlands and France (and to a lesser degree in Britain), which witnessed significant swings to the Right, have been most encouraging. They have actually been a continuation of a general change in political direction throughout the West since the turn of the Millennium, and follow similar shifts to the Right in the United States, Israel, Italy, Austria and Denmark. It is just a tragedy that such fundamental political changes could not have taken place prior to the falls of South Africa, Rhodesia and SWA to the forces of darkness.
Although there are many aspects of Jean-Marie le Pen's "Front National" in France which we find distasteful, a far more significant result of the French Presidential election was the massive defeat inflicted upon the Socialist Party and the Left in general. This failed and dated political dogma has clearly had its day. In spite of le Pen's surprising success in the first round of the Presidential poll his subsequent showing in the second round, where he obtained less than 19% of the vote in a two-way contest, can only be described as a complete humiliation. It shows clearly that although the French people may have rejected Socialism and wish to withdraw from the Euro and halt third-world immigration, they are not prepared to support any "off the edge" Right-wing party with clear neo-fascist undertones. It was much the same situation during the recent British municipal elections, for in spite of the massive amount of media-hype which the extremist "British National Party" obtained they managed to win only 3 seats throughout the entire country.
In the Netherlands, however, the recent General Election result has been far more dramatic and encouraging, for the party of the late Pim Fortuyn has become the second strongest party in Parliament, and is now about to enter government. Although most will have found Pim Fortuyn's overt homosexuality highly objectionable, the fact remains that in spite of this - perhaps because of this - he was able to position himself in the "real world" of politics, and could not be "demonised" as a neo-fascist or anti-Semite in any way. This was the secret of the success of his party, and was very similar to the success story of the "Forza Italia" party of Silvio Berlusconi in Italy. It was significant in this regard that Fortuyn often stated that Berlusconi was the contemporary European politician who he admired most.
It will be to the likes of "real world" politicians such as Fortuyn and Berlusconi who we must look in order to defeat the twin threats of European federalism and increasing third-world immigration facing us, rather than to the likes of off-the-edge "conspiracy-theory" fantasists such as le Pen and Griffin.

JOINT LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE/SPRINGBOK CLUB MEETING
The recent joint meeting held by the London Swinton Circle and the Springbok Club at the House of Lords, which was addressed by Philip Benwell of the "Australian Constitutional Monarchist League", turned out to be a great success. There was a massive turnout, and the Committee Room of the House of Lords where the meeting was held was packed.
Philip Benwell gave a brilliant speech in which he illustrated how the natural and traditional ties between Britain and Australia (and indeed the entire Commonwealth, including Southern Africa) were being eroded by Britain's increasing entanglement in the EU, and by Blair's "presidential" style of government. Most Australians still believed in the natural links of blood with Britain and other Commonwealth dominions however, which was well illustrated by the overwhelming vote to retain the Monarchy in the epoch-marking 1999 Referendum. It was now up to Britain to withdraw from the EU and to re-establish her traditional Commonwealth links under the common symbol of the Crown.
A few days after this meeting leading London Swinton Circle and Springbok Club officials held a private audience with Philip Benwell at which plans were discussed to establish an umbrella organisation for those of British stock and origin around the world. Needless to say, as these plans develop full details will be reported in future editions of the SCN.

SPRINGBOK CLUB "EMPIRE DAY" BUFFET-LUNCH
The Springbok Club will be holding a special buffet-lunch to celebrate Empire Day on Saturday 25th May 2002, from 12.00 noon onwards.
This will be held at a well-known central London club, and our guest of honour will be Mr. Jacques Arnold, the former Conservative MP for Gravesham (Gravesend). Jacques Arnold served as MP from 1987 to 1997, and held the post of PPS at the Home Office. He resigned this position in 1995 however, in order to support John Redwood when he challenged John Major for the Conservative Party leadership (being the only member of the Government so to do). He was a member of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association and a supporter of the British-Gibraltar Parliamentary Group. His talk will centre on the plight currently being faced by our kith and kin in Gibraltar.

The recent Springbok Club Chilterns Branch gathering turned out to be a happy event, with a fairly encouraging turnout. Unfortunately certain organisational aspects of this function evidently left a bit to be desired, so we are therefore looking for other supporters in the area to help arrange future activities. The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club is arranging a summer braai in East Kent on Sunday 30th June, and extends a warm invitation to all supporters everywhere. Further details will be carried in next month's edition of the SCN.

IAN SMITH RECEPTION
The Conservative Monday Club held a reception in honour of the Hon. Ian Douglas Smith last month in central London, at the end of great man's latest trip to the UK.
It was good to see a high proportion of Springbok Club members and supporters at this event, and particularly encouraging that a question asked to the great man by Springbok Club supporter Colin Lucas during question time - when he stated that Ian Smith was the greatest world statesman since Sir Winston Churchill - was greeted with raptuous applause!
In his speech Ian Smith stated that in spite of all the problems caused by the Mugabe regime his country still had the potential to become the "jewell of Africa", and that he was encouraged by the growth and organisational abilities of the oppostion forces to ZANU/PF, who clearly sought unity and reconciliation in the country. He also said that Britain was and still is a great country, and that all its people should be proud of its achievements.
There was certain a very "high-octane" attendance at this reception, which included two peers of the realm, one sitting British MP, one former Rhodesian cabinet minister, and one former Rhodesian senator! The Conservative Monday Club is therefore to be highly congratulated upon organising such a successful function.

PIONEER TRAIL
Sir,
Rob Burnett’s assertion that "Whites, by interfering, actually saved Mugabe and the majority Mashona tribe from certain annihilation at the hands of Matabele warriors" [SCN, April 2002] is not historically accurate. Neither is his view that "If Cecil Rhodes and his Pioneers had not intervened we would still have our homeland intact." Firstly, the Matablele relied on the Mashona for tribute (cattle) and never intended to eliminate them. They had subjugated the Mashona for sixty years before the Pioneers arrived on the scene, and had learnt the benefit of raids to get what they wanted from their vassals. The second view is incomprehensible. If Rhodes hadn’t financed his vision of a British territory north of the Limpopo it would never have become Rhodesia, and the "homeland" the writer refers to might have been more like Mozambique because Portugal claimed the territory before the Pioneers occupied it.
I had the pleasure of visiting the "Orania (Oranje) settlement - a small self-contained community of approximately 1000 Afrikaners who have established their own small town on the banks of the Orange River" a couple of years ago. I was most impressed with what I saw - almost a kibbutz-type existence. But I would not place much hope in it being anything more than a settlement for a few diehard Afrikaners. Their vision is a corridor to the Atlantic Ocean, a pipe dream if ever there was one unfortunately.

BLACK DEATH
Sir,
I am presently a student in college and am being taught a "Races in America" class by a very light-skinned South African Black man. He is very interesting except that I can do his job much better than he can, but that is life, our decadent idiotic schools in America give degrees to Blacks and Coloreds in an effort to "help". I play the liberal in class, as I don't want to make waves, just get my degree. There is really no freedom of speech on American college campuses today and one must be careful about speaking the truth about the Black race and its lack of intelligence and civilization.
I am seeing that AIDS will take out the Africans, leaving the continent below the Saharan Desert empty most likely. Are people planning on going back to restart civilization after they all die from AIDS? I know that nothing will help them except for a vaccine. Any aid sent or medicine will be hoarded by the Black dictators who will resell it for a vast profit.

ROGUES GALLERY
We would like to thank all those readers who supplied us with further information about Mr. Ron Tuohy, the trouble-making individual who has been waging an irrational hate-campaign against us via the Internet for some time. It would appear that this mysterious character was actually born in Scotland rather than in Northern Rhodesia, and we have also been informed of where he is now based. There is also some speculation that he is or was connected to a number of far-Left organisations, which of course could explain a lot. Happily we have heard nothing further from this wretched individual for some time, so hopefully he now at last realises that you cannot go around insulting and libelling complete strangers with impunity.
Alas, however, there has evidently been a further defamatory message attacking us posted on the phoney "Rhodesia Yahoo Group" by an apparent sidekick of Tuohy's by the name of Chas Lotter - also a complete stranger to us. Once again if anyone could supply us with more information about this shadowy character we would be most grateful. There certainly appears to be something extremely sinister about this entire so-called "Rhodesia Yahoo Group", so once again warn all our readers to be very wary of it.
About a year ago we were contacted by an expatriate South African living in the United States by the name of Gordon Waring, who initially expressed full support for our activities. Mr. Waring subsequently returned to live in South Africa (Somerset West in fact) and surprised us greatly by starting to say how "wonderful" and "peaceful" everything was back these - the complete opposite to ALL other reports which we receive from other supporters still trapped inside the country. Waring's message's then started to become increasingly bizarre and incomprehnsible, and the suggestion was made that he may have been an secret apologist for the ANC-regime all the way along. Again we would be most grateful if any further light which could be shed on this strange individual.

ZIMBABWE PET RESCUE PROJECT
We have recently been forwarded the following most distressing message by some of our supporters, and hope that those living in South Africa may be able to help.

Hello from South Africa!
We are fully aware that you must be inundated with requests to print the details of various campaigns and causes, but we pray that our project can enjoy a few moments of your consideration.
Due to the fact that animal mutilations are escalating at a horrific pace in Zimbabwe resulting from the land invasions, we have spearheaded a project to help in the rescue or euthanasia of domestic and farm animals that are dying horrific deaths because the "militants" are using this means to warn farmers not to return to their farms after being evicted. Amongst others, dogs are being hung alive on hooks from farm gates and childrens pet ponies are having one hoof chopped off to serve as proof of what would happen to the farmers themselves.
As we have stated in our following brief (page 2 & 3 of the e-mail) we avoid at all costs any political stand as this would jeopardise our project, so all we can do is ask the media to help publicise what we do in the hope that the community can support us in our endeavour. Please, please consider doing an article on the project, we also have horrifying photos and reports directly from the rescuers themselves that we can pass on to you. We would so appreciate any help from the media of any kind.

ANIMAL VICTIMS OF WAR
With global events focusing on the innocent victims of warfare, we are ignorant of another type of victim of an equally vicious war right on our doorstep. When Robert Mugabe "vowed" to cease farm invasions, he announced in the same breath that the "dissidents" were not under his control, thus ensuring that the farm invasions could continue, just under another name.
Farmers have under an hour to leave their properties, thus domestic and farm animals are mostly left on the farms, in the hope that they can be rescued later. Unfortunately this is seldom the case. Domestic animals are locked up in the farmhouses, drinking from the toilets and shower drains, and mostly suffer a slow death from starvation. Livestock are
left without water and food, and the cows remain unmilked, causing a dreadful slow death. When the fields are burnt, animals are left inside the paddocks and horses, cows and sheep die in the flames, or worse suffer, terrible burn wounds.
The latest atrocities, as seen on CNN, are mutilations committed by the dissidents to serve as a warning to farmers not to return. Dogs are hung alive from hooks on farm gates, children's pet ponies are having one of their front hooves chopped off and cows and sheep are being hamstrung.
THE ZIMBABWE PET RESCUE PROJECT has been launched by a group of animal lovers who cannot stand by and see this tragedy unfold. We are raising funds to assist the incredibly brave souls in Zimbabwe who are going from farm to farm in their own vehicles to rescue those animals which are still alive or to put down those beyond help. The funds that are
raised are not given to any government organisation and are extremely carefully monitored and used for the following: (in order of priority) medical drugs and supplies, pet food and funds for fuel and veterinary bills. We are a non-political project and this is not political rhetoric, it is fact!

The result of last month's Zimbabwe presidential election was as predictable as it was repugnant.
It would be fruitless to list all the examples of fraud, intimidation and malpractice which proved these elections totally invalid to all but the most corrupt and biased. They were simply the story of Black Africa however, for although the old maxim of "One man, one vote - once" may not be strictly accurate, the fact remains that after the process of de-colonisation began most African states have only witnessed one set of elections which can be considered as being totally free and fair. Those of us who worked tirelessly for the "Save Rhodesia Campaign" during the late 1970s are now completely vindicated, and it is only a tragedy that more didn't heed our advice in 1979.
The reaction of the "New" South African government has been particularly significant in this respect. Mbeki might be an improvement on Mandela, but only a very slight one, and the eager support given by both him and his deputy to the Mugabe regime in spite of all the clear and obvious examples of fraudulent practices during the Zimbabwe presidential election bodes very ill for the future of South Africa. South Africa is clearly going the same way as Zimbabwe, but the size and infrastructure of the state means that the approaching devastation will be even more apocalyptic. Significantly more innocent White farmers and their Black workers are already being slaughtered in South Africa than in Zimbabwe - even in percentage terms.
The only encouraging recent development has been Zimbabwe's suspension from the Commonwealth, and here of course we have Australian Prime Minister John Howard to thank. How he managed to obtain this decision when outnumbered two-to-one by African leaders on the sub-committee is truly a marvel. Mbeki's stoney-faced expression when John Howard announced the decision said more than a thousand words; he was clearly a very unhappy and humiliated person. John Howard would seem to have acted in a strong and ruthless manner similar to that adopted by White men throughout the 19th century - and here at least there is great hope for the future.

SPRINGBOK CLUB'S MARCH EVENT
In early March the Springbok Club staged a trip to the small but growing Afrikaner Library founded by Mr. Malcolm Wren and his family at Didcot. This proved to be a most pleasant and successful event, and all were highly impressed with what Malcolm and his family have already achieved, and spent a fair amount of time browsing through the books which the library already contains.
After viewing the library itself Malcolm showed everyone a video-recording which he recently brought back from the Orania settlement - a small self-contained community of approximately 1000 Afrikaners who have established their own small town on the banks of the Orange River. This video proved a great eye-opener and indeed inspiration, and showed that there was still a spirit of determined resistance in South Africa. In a short speech after the video-showing, which was greeted with spontaneous applause, it was stated that the people of Orania can't survive on their own, and that they need overseas support and lobbying on their behalf - and that this is where the Springbok Club comes in.
It is anticipated that the Afrikaner Library will be fully operational with a mail-ordering lending department very shortly. Once in operation full details will be given in a future edition of the SCN, including information about the Afrikaner Library's web-site, which is currently being prepared.

APRIL JOINT MEETING

As well as being actively involved in contemporary Australian affairs, Philip Benwell is also a great friend of South Africa and the erstwhile Rhodesia, and advocates a "Core Commonwealth" consisting of only those nations which recognise HM Queen Elizabeth II as head of state. He speech will centre on the current state of patriotic sentiment in Australia, as well as unity moves between our kith and kin around the globe.
As a large attendance is anticipated for this meeting those wishing to attend are advised to arrive early, and also if possible to e-mail Allan Robertson (the Springbok Club Deputy Chairman who will be chairing the meeting) on: allan@robertson22500.freeserve.co.uk to confirm their intention of attending.
Entry to the House of Lords should be made via the St.Stephens entrance of the Houses of Parliament. The meeting in being hosted by Lord Molyneaux of Killead, in whose name the meeting has been booked. As there is a possibility that the Committee Room may have to be altered at the last moment you are advised to confirm with officials at the entrance the precise venue of the meeting being hosted by Lord Molyneaux.

THE LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE
The London Swinton Circle staged a very well attended and highly informative meeting last month, which was addressed by Mr. Vivian Linacre of the British Weights and Measures Association.
In an upbeat speech Mr. Linacre outlined the position of the so-called "metric martyrs" (those brave retailers who are defying EU-inspired legislation by continuing to sell in Imperial measurement), and emphasised that in spite of recent legal setbacks the most important factor has been how very few retailers had actually been prosecuted, and that the costs incurred by those local authorities who have initiated prosecutions are proving so high that their council tax payers are becoming increasingly angry. He also told of the surprising support which their struggle had obtained from throughout the old White Commonwealth, and how attempts to impose metrication in Canada were currently becoming obsolete by the sheer opposition by the Canadian people.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?
No.42 : Mr. Colin Henderson of Durban.
Colin Henderson lived in the SeaView area of Durban, and worked as an electrician at Hulletts in Rossburgh. He was a keen and active member of the Patriotic Forum and other conservative organisations during the 1980s, but is also well remembered for his friendly and cheerful comradeship. Alas when we last heard from him, several years ago now, he seemed to be seriously ill, so we consequently now fear the worst. If anyone can tell us what happened to this good friend and patriot we would be most grateful.

HEALTH WARNING
I don't know if you are aware that Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma was the Health Minister before she became the Foreign Minister. She was also the wife of Jacob Zuma, the Deputy President. She made a mess of the Health Department, so I can't see anything good coming out of her post as Foreign Minister. She spent millions on a play about AIDS called "Serafina" and according to reports it did not make any difference to the situation at all.

A FINAL STAND - TOGETHER
I enjoyed reading Jonathan of Pretoria's letter entitled "Positive Aids" published in February's SCN. Some of the statistics proved rather depressing, whilst also enlightening. All's dependent on which side of the fence one's seated, naturally. As a White African who's actively campaigned for rights of Whites born in Africa, I have to pick up one or two points.
Firstly, poverty and starvation as now experienced in Zimbabwe is not nature's fault but of zealots like Mugabe and his extremely wealthy cronies. Nature did not walk in, AK47s to hand, then club farmers and workers into submission. Secondly, I feel the statement "Whites learn to stop interfering all the time" is rather generalised and deserves some response. The trouble was we Whites, by interfering, actually saved Mugabe and the majority Mashona tribe from certain annihilation at the hands of Matabele warriors. If Cecil Rhodes and his Pioneers had not intervened we would still have our homeland intact. Perhaps the problem is not the interfering, but having bothered to enlighten! As for AIDS, well that's also been blamed on us Whites. We just cannot win, even though everything progressive within Africa is down to Whites. Within a short one hundred years those who'd never set eyes on Whites found themselves piloting modern airliners as manufactured by Whites.
Positives of colonialism are there for all to see, if only people would open eyes instead. It's high time we throw off cloaks of guilt and start talking ourselves up. The shame of having enhanced others in Africa is brought about by lily-liberals. We Whites of Africa should stand up and be counted, for there's nothing the likes of Mugabe can teach us about civilisation. Africa's proven a playground for the wider world, as genuine "White Africans" remain pawns or scapegoats. Those genuinely caring for Africa should join hands, and soon. Indeed, not simply to confront Black Africans, but the real enemies of Libya, Communist China, the People's Republic of Korea, Iraq, Iran, Cuba, and we can add to this list. The West needs to look at Southern Africa urgently as a future powder-keg. Yes, they might even yet rue the day when abandoning Whites for political correctness. The only way to progress is through intrinsic commitment of those who dare to care. However the "politically correct" know full well we as a group have been scattered far and wide simply to survive.
Yes, nature might yet do a large proportion of the work. Then it's down to who fills the voids which will really count in the end. I dearly hope it's those of us who've been so badly let down.

I was shocked to hear on BBC this morning that Zimbabwe will be present at the Commonwealth Games. Surely this is an opportunity to show solidarity with the few decent folk left in Zimbabwe by protesting to the Organisers of the games. Perhaps even a peaceful protest at the games might be in order. We need to speak loud and clear for those who's voices are silenced by the Monster Mugabe.

ROGUES GALLERY
The item in the March edition of the SCN which detailed the suspicious nature of the phoney "Rhodesia Yahoo Group" resulted in an almost instantaneous hysterical response from one of the individuals who we mentioned in this article, a certain Mr. Ron Tuohy. This response (which came less than 12 hours after this edition of the SCN was circulated!) was particularly surprising as Tuohy isn't even on our circulation list - certainly not under his own name!
Tuohy began by making a number of childish postings to our web-site "Guest Book" (full of the inevitable insults, abuse and downright lies) which was then followed by an equally infantile threat against us. Predictably nothing ever came of this threat.
Since then we have been informed of a further particularly offensive posting which Tuohy has made on the "Rhodesia Yahoo Group" abusively attacking a young Zimbabwe Christian woman - who has no connection with the Springbok Club whatsoever - in which his hurtful and sacrilegious comments on her religion have caused great offence to many other people on this list.
Quite obviously, therefore, this man has a serious problem, and it has been suggested that his antagonistic attitude towards complete strangers may be due to the fact that he is seriously psychiatrically disturbed (maybe as a result of an injury or severe shock incurred during the Bush War?) rather than because of any more sinister motivations as we speculated might be the case in the previous edition of the SCN. Certainly the fact that the lies which he has attempted to spread against us are all so easily disproved would tend to suggest that this is probably the case.
Regardless of the reason for his reprehensible behaviour, however, it is quite clear that he must be stopped - and stopped quickly - before he is able to spread any more gratuitous abuse against other sincere and innocent patriots, and before he can desecrate the name of Rhodesia even further. One highly significant fact about Tuohy is that he appears to be totally unknown in any of the active expatriate Zimbabwe/Rhodesian organisations in the UK. We wonder therefore whether any reader can provide us with any further information about him, namely:-
1) What is his precise connection with Rhodesia? He claims to be Northern Rhodesian born, but his association with Rhodesia itself remains unclear.
2) Did he serve in the Rhodesian Armed Forces during the Bush War - and if so did he sustain any injury which may have left him mentally scarred?
3) Does he have any coloured blood in his veins?
4) What is he currently doing in the UK? According to his crude web-site he claims to run his own I.T. business based in - of all places - Royal Tunbridge Wells, but in view of the fact that he seems to spend all his hours awake monitoring the Internet and causing as much trouble as he can it would certainly appear that his alleged business cannot be very active.
Needless to say, all information supplied will be treated in the strictest confidence.

OBITUARY

HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER
So much has been written and said about HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother since her recent sad death that it appears almost impossible that we can add anything in praise of this noble and glorious lady. As befitted someone who was the last (up until now!) Empress of India she seemed to personify everything which was great and most forward-looking about the British nation and her peoples and Commonwealth around the globe.
It was her trip with her husband, the late King George VI of glorious memory, and daughters to Southern Africa in 1948 at the behest of Jan Christian Smuts (a great South African if ever there was one) which cemented her love affair with South Africa. It is just a tragedy that lesser people came to power after this magic tour who caused the two great brother nations of Britain and South African catastrophically to drift apart.
She was also a great and constant supporter of the Rhodesian cause, even when it was not "politically correct" to do so. She held both Ian Douglas Smith and General Peter Walls in the highest esteem - and even to her dying day would always insist upon calling Rhodesia "Rhodesia". For her eternal memory which must alays try to do likewise.

April 2002 edition
The result of last month's Zimbabwe presidential election was as predictable as it was repugnant.
It would be fruitless to list all the examples of fraud, intimidation and malpractice which proved these elections totally invalid to all but the most corrupt and biased. They were simply the story of Black Africa however, for although the old maxim of "One man, one vote - once" may not be strictly accurate, the fact remains that after the process of de-colonisation began most African states have only witnessed one set of elections which can be considered as being totally free and fair. Those of us who worked tirelessly for the "Save Rhodesia Campaign" during the late 1970s are now completely vindicated, and it is only a tragedy that more didn't heed our advice in 1979.
The reaction of the "New" South African government has been particularly significant in this respect. Mbeki might be an improvement on Mandela, but only a very slight one, and the eager support given by both him and his deputy to the Mugabe regime in spite of all the clear and obvious examples of fraudulent practices during the Zimbabwe presidential election bodes very ill for the future of South Africa. South Africa is clearly going the same way as Zimbabwe, but the size and infrastructure of the state means that the approaching devastation will be even more apocalyptic. Significantly more innocent White farmers and their Black workers are already being slaughtered in South Africa than in Zimbabwe - even in percentage terms.
The only encouraging recent development has been Zimbabwe's suspension from the Commonwealth, and here of course we have Australian Prime Minister John Howard to thank. How he managed to obtain this decision when outnumbered two-to-one by African leaders on the sub-committee is truly a marvel. Mbeki's stoney-faced expression when John Howard announced the decision said more than a thousand words; he was clearly a very unhappy and humiliated person. John Howard would seem to have acted in a strong and ruthless manner similar to that adopted by White men throughout the 19th century - and here at least there is great hope for the future.

SPRINGBOK CLUB'S MARCH EVENT
In early March the Springbok Club staged a trip to the small but growing Afrikaner Library founded by Mr. Malcolm Wren and his family at Didcot. This proved to be a most pleasant and successful event, and all were highly impressed with what Malcolm and his family have already achieved, and spent a fair amount of time browsing through the books which the library already contains.
After viewing the library itself Malcolm showed everyone a video-recording which he recently brought back from the Orania settlement - a small self-contained community of approximately 1000 Afrikaners who have established their own small town on the banks of the Orange River. This video proved a great eye-opener and indeed inspiration, and showed that there was still a spirit of determined resistance in South Africa. In a short speech after the video-showing, which was greeted with spontaneous applause, it was stated that the people of Orania can't survive on their own, and that they need overseas support and lobbying on their behalf - and that this is where the Springbok Club comes in.
It is anticipated that the Afrikaner Library will be fully operational with a mail-ordering lending department very shortly. Once in operation full details will be given in a future edition of the SCN, including information about the Afrikaner Library's web-site, which is currently being prepared.

The London Swinton Circle and the Springbok Club will be staging a joint meeting towards the end of April, the details of which are as follows:-

Guest Speaker : Philip Benwell MBE (Chairman of the Australian Constitutional Monarchy League)
As well as being actively involved in contemporary Australian affairs, Philip Benwell is also a great friend of South Africa and the erstwhile Rhodesia, and advocates a "Core Commonwealth" consisting of only those nations which recognise HM Queen Elizabeth II as head of state. He speech will centre on the current state of patriotic sentiment in Australia, as well as unity moves between our kith and kin around the globe.
As a large attendance is anticipated for this meeting those wishing to attend are advised to arrive early, and also if possible to e-mail Allan Robertson (the Springbok Club Deputy Chairman who will be chairing the meeting) on: allan@robertson22500.freeserve.co.uk to confirm their intention of attending.
Entry to the House of Lords should be made via the St.Stephens entrance of the Houses of Parliament. The meeting in being hosted by Lord Molyneaux of Killead, in whose name the meeting has been booked. THE LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE
The London Swinton Circle staged a very well attended and highly informative meeting last month, which was addressed by Mr. Vivian Linacre of the British Weights and Measures Association.
In an upbeat speech Mr. Linacre outlined the position of the so-called "metric martyrs" (those brave retailers who are defying EU-inspired legislation by continuing to sell in Imperial measurement), and emphasised that in spite of recent legal setbacks the most important factor has been how very few retailers had actually been prosecuted, and that the costs incurred by those local authorities who have initiated prosecutions are proving so high that their council tax payers are becoming increasingly angry. He also told of the surprising support which their struggle had obtained from throughout the old White Commonwealth, and how attempts to impose metrication in Canada were currently becoming obsolete by the sheer opposition by the Canadian people.

All's dependent on which side of the fence one's seated, naturally. As a White African who's actively campaigned for rights of Whites born in Africa, I have to pick up one or two points.
Firstly, poverty and starvation as now experienced in Zimbabwe is not nature's fault but of zealots like Mugabe and his extremely wealthy cronies. Nature did not walk in, AK47s to hand, then club farmers and workers into submission. Secondly, I feel the statement "Whites learn to stop interfering all the time" is rather generalised and deserves some response. The trouble was we Whites, by interfering, actually saved Mugabe and the majority Mashona tribe from certain annihilation at the hands of Matabele warriors. If Cecil Rhodes and his Pioneers had not intervened we would still have our homeland intact. Perhaps the problem is not the interfering, but having bothered to enlighten! As for AIDS, well that's also been blamed on us Whites. We just cannot win, even though everything progressive within Africa is down to Whites. Within a short one hundred years those who'd never set eyes on Whites found themselves piloting modern airliners as manufactured by Whites.
Positives of colonialism are there for all to see, if only people would open eyes instead. It's high time we throw off cloaks of guilt and start talking ourselves up. The shame of having enhanced others in Africa is brought about by lily-liberals. We Whites of Africa should stand up and be counted, for there's nothing the likes of Mugabe can teach us about civilisation. Africa's proven a playground for the wider world, as genuine "White Africans" remain pawns or scapegoats. Those genuinely caring for Africa should join hands, and soon. Indeed, not simply to confront Black Africans, but the real enemies of Libya, Communist China, the People's Republic of Korea, Iraq, Iran, Cuba, and we can add to this list. The West needs to look at Southern Africa urgently as a future powder-keg. Yes, they might even yet rue the day when abandoning Whites for political correctness. The only way to progress is through intrinsic commitment of those who dare to care. However the "politically correct" know full well we as a group have been scattered far and wide simply to survive.
Yes, nature might yet do a large proportion of the work. Then it's down to who fills the voids which will really count in the end. I dearly hope it's those of us who've been so badly let down.

I was shocked to hear on BBC this morning that Zimbabwe will be present at the Commonwealth Games. Surely this is an opportunity to show solidarity with the few decent folk left in Zimbabwe by protesting to the Organisers of the games. Perhaps even a peaceful protest at the games might be in order. We need to speak loud and clear for those who's voices are silenced by the Monster Mugabe.

ROGUES GALLERY
The item in the March edition of the SCN which detailed the suspicious nature of the phoney "Rhodesia Yahoo Group" resulted in an almost instantaneous hysterical response from one of the individuals who we mentioned in this article, a certain Mr. Ron Tuohy. This response (which came less than 12 hours after this edition of the SCN was circulated!) was particularly surprising as Tuohy isn't even on our circulation list - certainly not under his own name!
Tuohy began by making a number of childish postings to our web-site "Guest Book" (full of the inevitable insults, abuse and downright lies) which was then followed by an equally infantile threat against us. Predictably nothing ever came of this threat.
Since then we have been informed of a further particularly offensive posting which Tuohy has made on the "Rhodesia Yahoo Group" abusively attacking a young Zimbabwe Christian woman - who has no connection with the Springbok Club whatsoever - in which his hurtful and sacrilegious comments on her religion have caused great offence to many other people on this list.
Quite obviously, therefore, this man has a serious problem, and it has been suggested that his antagonistic attitude towards complete strangers may be due to the fact that he is seriously psychiatrically disturbed (maybe as a result of an injury or severe shock incurred during the Bush War?) rather than because of any more sinister motivations as we speculated might be the case in the previous edition of the SCN. Certainly the fact that the lies which he has attempted to spread against us are all so easily disproved would tend to suggest that this is probably the case.
Regardless of the reason for his reprehensible behaviour, however, it is quite clear that he must be stopped - and stopped quickly - before he is able to spread any more gratuitous abuse against other sincere and innocent patriots, and before he can desecrate the name of Rhodesia even further. One highly significant fact about Tuohy is that he appears to be totally unknown in any of the active expatriate Zimbabwe/Rhodesian organisations in the UK. We wonder therefore whether any reader can provide us with any further information about him, namely:-
1) What is his precise connection with Rhodesia? He claims to be Northern Rhodesian born, but his association with Rhodesia itself remains unclear.
2) Did he serve in the Rhodesian Armed Forces during the Bush War - and if so did he sustain any injury which may have left him mentally scarred?
3) Does he have any coloured blood in his veins?
4) What is he currently doing in the UK? According to his crude web-site he claims to run his own I.T. business based in - of all places - Royal Tunbridge Wells, but in view of the fact that he seems to spend all his hours awake monitoring the Internet and causing as much trouble as he can it would certainly appear that his alleged business cannot be very active.
Needless to say, all information supplied will be treated in the strictest confidence.

HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH THE QUEEN MOTHER
So much has been written and said about HM Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother since her recent sad death that it appears almost impossible that we can add anything in praise of this noble and glorious lady. As befitted someone who was the last (up until now!) Empress of India she seemed to personify everything which was great and most forward-looking about the British nation and her peoples and Commonwealth around the globe.
It was her trip with her husband, the late King George VI of glorious memory, and daughters to Southern Africa in 1948 at the behest of Jan Christian Smuts (a great South African if ever there was one) which cemented her love affair with South Africa. It is just a tragedy that lesser people came to power after this magic tour who caused the two great brother nations of Britain and South African catastrophically to drift apart.
She was also a great and constant supporter of the Rhodesian cause, even when it was not "politically correct" to do so. She held both Ian Douglas Smith and General Peter Walls in the highest esteem - and even to her dying day would always insist upon calling Rhodesia "Rhodesia". For her eternal memory which must alays try to do likewise.

Probably one of the greatest successes of the Springbok Club to date has been the way in which we have been able to identify with the real South African flag - and to popularise the term "the REAL flag", rather than the previously common phrase of "the old flag".
There have been those, of course, who claim that it is all just wishful-thinking to believe that the real flag will one day fly again over Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban - but is it so?
One recent happening in a different part of the globe has shown that absolutely nothing can be taken for granted when it comes to the future adoption of national symbols. Last month the new Afghanistan government of President Hamid Karzai unveiled the flag that the newly-installed democratic government was adopting - the black, red and green vertical tricolour which hadn't been used since the days of King Zahir Shah over a quarter of a century ago! Gone was not only the white flag of the hated Taliban regime, but also the green, white and black horizontal tricolour of the crypto-communist regime which replaced King Zahir Shah.
This hasn't been the only case during recent years when "real" national flags have made a comeback. Who can forget the glorious sight at the end of 1991 when the white, blue and red tricolour of Tsarist days replaced the despicable hammer and sickle flag flying over the Kremlin - and of course the previous black, red and gold flag of the German Republic replaced the ridiculous swastika flag after the fall of the Nazi tyrants.
In Africa flags always seem to come and go with changes of government, and it was interesting to note that Laurent Kabila not only reverted to the traditional name of the [Democratic Republic of the] Congo when he deposed the despot Mubutu Sese-Seko of Zaire, but also adopted a "new" flag which was remarkably similar to that of the original colonial Belgian Congo! It is fully expected - and certainly hoped - that Morgan Tsvangirai and the MDC will replace the blood-stained flag of the Mugabe regime when they eventually manage to ascend to government in Zimbabwe.
As ANC-ruled South Africa plunges further and further into chaos and disintegration it seems obvious that one day some form of civilised government will simply have to be restored - and when that day comes the current underpants-flag of the ANC regime must be deposited into the dustbin of history where it belongs. Let us hope that the flag that replaces it will once again be the REAL South African flag.

SPRINGBOK CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING
Springbok Club Chairman Peter Fisher gave a most illuminating "report-back" on his recent trip to South Africa during the SC's February national meeting in London. Although he gave vivid illustrations of the collapse of the country and the anarchic conditions which now exist there, his talk was not entirely without hope, for he also told how many individuals were managing to survive by isolating themselves as much as possible from the tentacles of the state.
Unfortunately there proved to be a disappointingly low attendance at this meeting (we believe mainly because of the rival attraction of the Winter Olympics - the Women's Curling Final was being televised that evening!), which was a great tragedy as Peter had put such a lot of effort into preparing such an informative talk.

SPRINGBOK CLUB MARCH EVENT
The Springbok Club will be staging a trip to Malcolm Wren's small Afrikaner Library in Didcot on Saturday 9th March 2002. We will be rendezvousing at Didcot Parkway railway station at approximately 13.40 hrs, from where transport will be provided to take everyone to the Library. For those who intend travelling from London we will be catching the 13.00 hrs train from Paddington, but will be rendezvousing at the statue of "Paddington Bear" on the station concourse at approximately 12.00 hrs.
As well as showing us round the Library itself, Malcolm Wren will also be showing a video-recording which he obtained during a recent visit to the Orania Community (a self-contained settlement of Afrikaners on the banks of the Orange River).
Although it will not be necessary to "book" to take part in this trip, it would assist us to anticipate numbers if all those intending to attend could inform us in advance. Either e-mail or 'phone on: 07711-188430.

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
Alas the recent Springbok Club Hampshire Branch gathering was also very poorly attended, which in view of the fact that buffet-snacks had been provided and donated by one of our supporters for far more people than who actually turned up was not only extremely disappointing, but also an acute embarrassment. The Springbok Club has very strong support on paper in Hampshire, Dorset and Berkshire, so we would therefore ask all our supporters to make every effort to patronise all future such events staged by the branch, particularly as a number of people put such a lot of effort into making these functions a success.
The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club will be staging their next event during the evening of Sunday 17th March 2002. This will take the form of a "pub evening" at the Saxon Shore on the Herne Bay beach front. It will be a very informal and unofficial gathering, but even so we hope that as many supporters from the county as possible will be able to attend. Just look out for the Springbok rugby jerseys to recognise everybody!
Springbok Club Treasurer Dave Williams is in the process of organising the next Chilterns Branch meeting for the end of April. Full details will appear in next month's SCN.

SPRINGBOK CLUB APPEAL
The Springbok Club finished 2001 with a small but somewhat worrying debt, and unfortunately the problems encountered at both our February national meeting and the latest Hampshire Branch gathering has meant that this debt has now grown slightly.
The Springbok Club has grown and proved consistantly over the last few years that it is the largest and most effective pro-South African movement of its type, and that it is in the vanguard of the struggle to restore civilised values to the African continent. We have many other campaigns and events planned for the forthcoming months, but unfortunately some of these are currently in jeopardy because of our poor financial standing. We therefore want to clear all our debts and to build up our funds again as soon as possible.
If every recipient of the SCN were to donate only 75p (R12 or $1) then we would be able to clear our current debt completely. Of course we know that not everybody is in a position to give - but if all those who can afford to contribute could cover those who can't then we are still confident that we will be able to achieve our goal.

PHONEY TONY
Sir,
Britain's so called "world leader" Blair has up to now been cowered into staying quiet over the illegal regime in Zimbabwe. A regime that freely kills British citizens without so much as a murmur from the British government.
It would seem that the Blair government is worried at being accused by the Mugabe government of "acting as a colonial power". Something Mugabe has been accusing the UK of for the past two years without so much as a warning or angry diplomatic response from the UK government.
Instead the British government has preferred to sit back and watch a country in which it has significant historical, cultural and economic ties fall apart. Far from "leading" international actions British government ministers, such as the former leading ANC activist Peter Hain, have acted as apologists for Robert Mugabe (see BBC Online last summer).
The recent threat of suspension from the Commonwealth comes after over 2 years of widespread violence, intimidation and the fragrant abuse of the rule of law by the government of Zimbabwe. Evidence from the Congo suggests that the Zimbabwe Army is little more that a gang of plundering pirates. The Police have failed to act against widespread acts of violence and intimidation by Mugabe's thugs of unemployed youths and cowards who pose as "war veterans".
The government has continually whipped up racial unrest occupying White land, burning White homes and murdering anyone who gets in their way. The West, "champions of freedom, democracy and the rule of law" have been incredibly quite over this period, preferring to turn the other cheek. Meanwhile the UK government, yet again, appeased the Mugabe's regime by agreeing to pay for his illegal land occupations and "recognising the problem of land reform as being the PRIME issue".
The Zimbabwe Army has hinted at military rule should the wrong side win, Mugabe has taken control of all media, meanwhile rampaging mobs of Mugabe sponsored unemployed youths are kicking old people into the gutter and smashing up the shanty towns of MDC supporters across the country. The picture is one of hatred and destruction.
Despite all this and the election now being near, the only response from "world leader" Blair (coming via his Foreign Secretary) is "we may seek to suspend Zimbabwe from the Commonwealth unless the rule of law is restored". Well Mugabe is brighter than that, he merely changes the law, replaces the judges, abducts his opponents, takes the land by proxy and pays off UN officials to suit himself.
This hint of a "possible suspension" and only "maybe" from the UK and Canada should not worry Mugabe too much. Indeed should this be one of the few small actions the international community is willing to take, it will backfire and play directly into Mugabe's hands.
"World leader" Blair has been exposed as nothing more than a sham, someone who would rather be cowered into no action rather than LEAD and whip up the international support necessary. To date nations with far fewer links in the region than the UK have been most vocal against Mugabe's regime - the Republic of Ireland, Australia, Canada, the United States, even Sweden.
If Mugabe's regime is not stopped the future for Zimbabwe and indeed the whole of Africa will be bleak. This is a problem that could spread and intensify.

The recent news about Sir Garfield Todd is very moving to say the least. I just wish that I could jump up right now and do something about it. But sadly...you know the answer to that one! I have completed my book, and have had my say about the tyrannical Mugabe. My God, would I like to meet that son of a bitch face to face. But having said that, would I really put myself at risk of being punished by international law!

ROGUES GALLERY
Long-standing readers will probably remember the problems which a number of supporters experienced from the phoney "Rhodesia List" Internet discussion group a couple of years ago.
In a nutshell, we were recommended to join this discussion group because, on the face of it, certainly judging from its name, it was a forum which fully supported the Rhodesian cause. Almost immediately we joined, however, we were subjected to a constant stream of inexplicable and abusive attacks from two complete strangers by the names of George Parker and Ron Tuohy, who not only opposed our support for the Rhodesian ideals, but moreover even seemed to express some pro-terrorist sentiments. When we objected to the so-called "moderator" of this group however, a certain Penny Willis, we were summarily removed from the list!
As a result we warned all readers of the SCN to be extremely wary of this phoney discussion group, but we have now learnt that one of our newer supporters has recently independently joined this list (now evidently known as the "Rhodesia Yahoo Group") and - surprise, surprise - was subjected to exactly the same inexplicably offensive attacks by this same Parker/Tuohy duo.
As well as the sinister way in which these two trouble-makers seem to go out of their way to attack and insult all those who express support for the cause that the entire list is supposed to be all about, another highly suspicious factor about them is that they always respond to postings IMMEDIATELY they are made, thereby seeming to suggest that they have nothing else to do all day long but to monitor all postings which are made - and it has been suggested that they may be in the pay of the CIO and/or ZANU-PF to upset and demoralise those who actively oppose the Mugabe regime.
Such speculation may not be as far-fetched as it first appears. Another Internet discussion group which has recently witnessed some most strange and worrying postings is that run by the Mail & Guardian newspaper in South Africa. A number of false and derogative postings have been made thereon purporting to come from the Springbok Club, but which by mixing fact with fabrication and smears seeks to try to demonise the organisation. Judging from the knowledge displayed, personal venom and phraseology used, however, it would appear that the person behind this "dirty trick" is Arthur Kemp, an individual who we helped to expose as working for the "new" South African security services a couple of years ago.
The oddest thing about these false postings, however, is that they claim Tony Leon, the Leader of the Democratic Alliance in South Africa, has spoken for the Springbok Club. Tony Leon has never spoken for us of course, and we have had no contact with him whatsoever - so why should such a bizarre claim be made? The Democratic Alliance is one of the biggest thorns in the side of the ANC regime of course, so the speculation is that Kemp and the ANC are trying to smear him by first demonising the Springbok Club, and then by falsely trying to associate him with us.
The most sinister aspect of all, however, is that we know there is a link between Kemp and the Parker/Tuohy trouble-makers.

OBITUARIES

WENTZEL COETZER
Wentzel Coetzer, who died after a long illness last month, was one of the mainstays of the Rhodesians Worldwide Kent Branch, whose enthusiasm and humour added greatly to the success of the branch.
Born in 1939 in Northern Rhodesia, he was educated at Gilbert Rennie School in Lusaka. He served as a patrol officer in the BSAP for 3 years, before joining the Police Reserve and working for Rhodesian Railways. He moved to Natal in 1978 when he foresaw terrorist rule in Rhodesia, and moved on to the UK in 1990 when he realised the same fate was in store for South Africa. Here he ran a highly successful garage just outside Faversham with his second wife Anita, before ill health forced him to retire a few years ago.
His support for RW was total, and together with Anita he supplied and retailed the much-acclaimed boerewors at all branch braais. Sadly Anita died suddenly last year, but just before his death Wentzel re-married his first wife Joan. He cheated death for several years, and his determination in adversity was an inspiration to all who knew him.
He is survived by 4 children and 8 grandchildren, and our condolences go out to all of them now.

SPIKE MILLIGAN
Spike Milligan, who died last week, was not only one of the greatest comedians of his age, but was also a man of strong will who was always his own boss.
A rugby fanatic, he fully supported the 1969/70 Springbok tour to the British Isles at a time when most others in his profession succumbed to trendy left-wing anti-South African opposition. This present writer saw him at the Wales v. South Africa game in 1970 when he defiantly told protestors where to get off when they shouted at him not to attend the match.
He was also prepared to tour South Africa during the 1980s at the height of the international "boycott" campaign, and as a result was placed on the United Nations "blacklist".

In Africa flags always seem to come and go with changes of government, and it was interesting to note that Laurent Kabila not only reverted to the traditional name of the [Democratic Republic of the] Congo when he deposed the despot Mubutu Sese-Seko of Zaire, but also adopted a "new" flag which was remarkably similar to that of the original colonial Belgian Congo! It is fully expected - and certainly hoped - that Morgan Tsvangirai and the MDC will replace the blood-stained flag of the Mugabe regime when they eventually manage to ascend to government in Zimbabwe.
As ANC-ruled South Africa plunges further and further into chaos and disintegration it seems obvious that one day some form of civilised government will simply have to be restored - and when that day comes the current underpants-flag of the ANC regime must be deposited into the dustbin of history where it belongs. Let us hope that the flag that replaces it will once again be the REAL South African flag.

SPRINGBOK CLUB FEBRUARY MEETING
Springbok Club Chairman Peter Fisher gave a most illuminating "report-back" on his recent trip to South Africa during the SC's February national meeting in London. Although he gave vivid illustrations of the collapse of the country and the anarchic conditions which now exist there, his talk was not entirely without hope, for he also told how many individuals were managing to survive by isolating themselves as much as possible from the tentacles of the state.
Unfortunately there proved to be a disappointingly low attendance at this meeting (we believe mainly because of the rival attraction of the Winter Olympics - the Women's Curling Final was being televised that evening!), which was a great tragedy as Peter had put such a lot of effort into preparing such an informative talk.

SPRINGBOK CLUB MARCH EVENT
The Springbok Club will be staging a trip to Malcolm Wren's small Afrikaner Library in Didcot on Saturday 9th March 2002. We will be rendezvousing at Didcot Parkway railway station at approximately 13.40 hrs, from where transport will be provided to take everyone to the Library. For those who intend travelling from London we will be catching the 13.00 hrs train from Paddington, but will be rendezvousing at the statue of "Paddington Bear" on the station concourse at approximately 12.00 hrs.
As well as showing us round the Library itself, Malcolm Wren will also be showing a video-recording which he obtained during a recent visit to the Orania Community (a self-contained settlement of Afrikaners on the banks of the Orange River).

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS
Alas the recent Springbok Club Hampshire Branch gathering was also very poorly attended, which in view of the fact that buffet-snacks had been provided and donated by one of our supporters for far more people than who actually turned up was not only extremely disappointing, but also an acute embarrassment. The Springbok Club has very strong support on paper in Hampshire, Dorset and Berkshire, so we would therefore ask all our supporters to make every effort to patronise all future such events staged by the branch, particularly as a number of people put such a lot of effort into making these functions a success.
The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club will be staging their next event during the evening of Sunday 17th March 2002. This will take the form of a "pub evening" at the Saxon Shore on the Herne Bay beach front. It will be a very informal and unofficial gathering, but even so we hope that as many supporters from the county as possible will be able to attend. Just look out for the Springbok rugby jerseys to recognise everybody!
Springbok Club Treasurer Dave Williams is in the process of organising the next Chilterns Branch meeting for the end of April. Full details will appear in next month's SCN.

SPRINGBOK CLUB APPEAL
The Springbok Club finished 2001 with a small but somewhat worrying debt, and unfortunately the problems encountered at both our February national meeting and the latest Hampshire Branch gathering has meant that this debt has now grown slightly.
The Springbok Club has grown and proved consistantly over the last few years that it is the largest and most effective pro-South African movement of its type, and that it is in the vanguard of the struggle to restore civilised values to the African continent. We have many other campaigns and events planned for the forthcoming months, but unfortunately some of these are currently in jeopardy because of our poor financial standing. We therefore want to clear all our debts and to build up our funds again as soon as possible.
If every recipient of the SCN were to donate only 75p (R12 or $1) then we would be able to clear our current debt completely. Of course we know that not everybody is in a position to give - but if all those who can afford to contribute could cover those who can't then we are still confident that we will be able to achieve our goal.

Sir,
Britain's so called "world leader" Blair has up to now been cowered into staying quiet over the illegal regime in Zimbabwe. A regime that freely kills British citizens without so much as a murmur from the British government.
It would seem that the Blair government is worried at being accused by the Mugabe government of "acting as a colonial power". Something Mugabe has been accusing the UK of for the past two years without so much as a warning or angry diplomatic response from the UK government.
Instead the British government has preferred to sit back and watch a country in which it has significant historical, cultural and economic ties fall apart. Far from "leading" international actions British government ministers, such as the former leading ANC activist Peter Hain, have acted as apologists for Robert Mugabe (see BBC Online last summer).
The recent threat of suspension from the Commonwealth comes after over 2 years of widespread violence, intimidation and the fragrant abuse of the rule of law by the government of Zimbabwe. Evidence from the Congo suggests that the Zimbabwe Army is little more that a gang of plundering pirates. The Police have failed to act against widespread acts of violence and intimidation by Mugabe's thugs of unemployed youths and cowards who pose as "war veterans".
The government has continually whipped up racial unrest occupying White land, burning White homes and murdering anyone who gets in their way. The West, "champions of freedom, democracy and the rule of law" have been incredibly quite over this period, preferring to turn the other cheek. Meanwhile the UK government, yet again, appeased the Mugabe's regime by agreeing to pay for his illegal land occupations and "recognising the problem of land reform as being the PRIME issue".
The Zimbabwe Army has hinted at military rule should the wrong side win, Mugabe has taken control of all media, meanwhile rampaging mobs of Mugabe sponsored unemployed youths are kicking old people into the gutter and smashing up the shanty towns of MDC supporters across the country. The picture is one of hatred and destruction.
Despite all this and the election now being near, the only response from "world leader" Blair (coming via his Foreign Secretary) is "we may seek to suspend Zimbabwe from the Commonwealth unless the rule of law is restored". Well Mugabe is brighter than that, he merely changes the law, replaces the judges, abducts his opponents, takes the land by proxy and pays off UN officials to suit himself.
This hint of a "possible suspension" and only "maybe" from the UK and Canada should not worry Mugabe too much. Indeed should this be one of the few small actions the international community is willing to take, it will backfire and play directly into Mugabe's hands.
"World leader" Blair has been exposed as nothing more than a sham, someone who would rather be cowered into no action rather than LEAD and whip up the international support necessary. To date nations with far fewer links in the region than the UK have been most vocal against Mugabe's regime - the Republic of Ireland, Australia, Canada, the United States, even Sweden.
If Mugabe's regime is not stopped the future for Zimbabwe and indeed the whole of Africa will be bleak. This is a problem that could spread and intensify.

The recent news about Sir Garfield Todd is very moving to say the least. I just wish that I could jump up right now and do something about it. But sadly...you know the answer to that one! But having said that, would I really put myself at risk of being punished by international law!

ROGUES GALLERY
Long-standing readers will probably remember the problems which a number of supporters experienced from the phoney "Rhodesia List" Internet discussion group a couple of years ago.
In a nutshell, we were recommended to join this discussion group because, on the face of it, certainly judging from its name, it was a forum which fully supported the Rhodesian cause. Almost immediately we joined, however, we were subjected to a constant stream of inexplicable and abusive attacks from two complete strangers by the names of George Parker and Ron Tuohy, who not only opposed our support for the Rhodesian ideals, but moreover even seemed to express some pro-terrorist sentiments. When we objected to the so-called "moderator" of this group however, a certain Penny Willis, we were summarily removed from the list!
As a result we warned all readers of the SCN to be extremely wary of this phoney discussion group, but we have now learnt that one of our newer supporters has recently independently joined this list (now evidently known as the "Rhodesia Yahoo Group") and - surprise, surprise - was subjected to exactly the same inexplicably offensive attacks by this same Parker/Tuohy duo.
As well as the sinister way in which these two trouble-makers seem to go out of their way to attack and insult all those who express support for the cause that the entire list is supposed to be all about, another highly suspicious factor about them is that they always respond to postings IMMEDIATELY they are made, thereby seeming to suggest that they have nothing else to do all day long but to monitor all postings which are made - and it has been suggested that they may be in the pay of the CIO and/or ZANU-PF to upset and demoralise those who actively oppose the Mugabe regime.
Such speculation may not be as far-fetched as it first appears. Another Internet discussion group which has recently witnessed some most strange and worrying postings is that run by the Mail & Guardian newspaper in South Africa. A number of false and derogative postings have been made thereon purporting to come from the Springbok Club, but which by mixing fact with fabrication and smears seeks to try to demonise the organisation. Judging from the knowledge displayed, personal venom and phraseology used, however, it would appear that the person behind this "dirty trick" is Arthur Kemp, an individual who we helped to expose as working for the "new" South African security services a couple of years ago.
The oddest thing about these false postings, however, is that they claim Tony Leon, the Leader of the Democratic Alliance in South Africa, has spoken for the Springbok Club. Tony Leon has never spoken for us of course, and we have had no contact with him whatsoever - so why should such a bizarre claim be made? The Democratic Alliance is one of the biggest thorns in the side of the ANC regime of course, so the speculation is that Kemp and the ANC are trying to smear him by first demonising the Springbok Club, and then by falsely trying to associate him with us.
The most sinister aspect of all, however, is that we know there is a link between Kemp and the Parker/Tuohy trouble-makers.

OBITUARIES

WENTZEL COETZER
Wentzel Coetzer, who died after a long illness last month, was one of the mainstays of the Rhodesians Worldwide Kent Branch, whose enthusiasm and humour added greatly to the success of the branch.
Born in 1939 in Northern Rhodesia, he was educated at Gilbert Rennie School in Lusaka. He served as a patrol officer in the BSAP for 3 years, before joining the Police Reserve and working for Rhodesian Railways. He moved to Natal in 1978 when he foresaw terrorist rule in Rhodesia, and moved on to the UK in 1990 when he realised the same fate was in store for South Africa. Here he ran a highly successful garage just outside Faversham with his second wife Anita, before ill health forced him to retire a few years ago.
His support for RW was total, and together with Anita he supplied and retailed the much-acclaimed boerewors at all branch braais. Sadly Anita died suddenly last year, but just before his death Wentzel re-married his first wife Joan. He cheated death for several years, and his determination in adversity was an inspiration to all who knew him.
He is survived by 4 children and 8 grandchildren, and our condolences go out to all of them now.

SPIKE MILLIGAN
Spike Milligan, who died last week, was not only one of the greatest comedians of his age, but was also a man of strong will who was always his own boss.
A rugby fanatic, he fully supported the 1969/70 Springbok tour to the British Isles at a time when most others in his profession succumbed to trendy left-wing anti-South African opposition. This present writer saw him at the Wales v. South Africa game in 1970 when he defiantly told protestors where to get off when they shouted at him not to attend the match.
He was also prepared to tour South Africa during the 1980s at the height of the international "boycott" campaign, and as a result was placed on the United Nations "blacklist".

We, along with all other supporters of Western values and civilisation around the world, were delighted when George W. Bush was elected the 43rd President of the United States in November 2000, and had high hopes that he would prove to be an able leader of the West.
Events since the September 11th atrocities have shown that these hopes were not ill-founded - and indeed he has exceeded even our highest expectations. In the immediate aftermath of the terrorist outrages he demonstrated calm but resolute leadership, and the subsequent Western military action against al-Qa'eda terrorist bases in Afghanistan proved speedy, professional and decisive - indeed the entire campaign was completed far quicker and with far less loss of innocent lives than any international pundit ever dared prophesy.
George W. Bush's first State of the Union address to the U.S. Congress was no less courageous than his strong and statesmanlike leadership in battle, for he was not afraid to confront the "politically correct brigade" head-on. By daring to name three rogue states threatening peace in the international arena - Iraq, Iran and the People's Republic of Korea - he demonstrated political bravery which few of his predecessors possessed. He has certainly done a great service to the entire Western world by exposing and highlighting the Axis of Evil which threatens us all.
Our only disagreement with President Bush is that he didn't go far enough in naming those bandit states which comprise the Axis of Evil. Why, for example, did he not mention Libya, a terrorist-supporting nation which his illustrious predecessor Ronald Reagan took firm and effective action against during the 1980s.
But it is the countries of Southern Africa rather than Northern Africa which most concern us. It is not just that the Mugabe regime in Zimbabwe and the ANC regime in South Africa are corrupt and tyrannical - they are also clearly aligned to those states already identified as being part of the Axis of Evil. Mugabe employed the North Koreans to train his infamous 5th Brigade which massacred the Matabele people during the 1980s, and he is now Gaddafi's closest ally (10,000 "Zimbabwean" passports have been issued to Libyans, at least a dozen Libyan training camps have been established around Zimbabwe, and hundreds of Gaddafi's elite troops now act as bodyguards for Mugabe and his henchmen). The former ANC leader in South Africa, Mandela, was also an extremely close personal friend of Gaddafi, and the present ANC leader, Mbeki, sent his foreign minister, somebody called Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, to Tehran on February 4th to cement Iranian/South African economic relations, after which a joint statement was issued condemning the U.S. War against Terrorism.
It is essential for the Axis of Evil to be smashed in order for the world to be a safer and more secure place. But this doesn't just mean overthrowing despots like Saddam Hussein and Gaddafi - their allies and fellow-terrorists in control of Zimbabwe and South Africa must also be removed from power.

The 2002 AGM of the Springbok Club successfully took place at the end of January, expertly chaired by Mr. David Wedgwood. Both the Treasurer and the Organiser submitted their reports for 2001, copies of which are available on request. MDC SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN DEMONSTRATION
The next Zimbabwe Human Rights Protest, which will mark the 2nd anniversary of the farm invasions, will take place outside the Zimbabwe High Commission, 429 The Strand, London WC2 (nearest tube stations: Charing Cross and Embankment) on Saturday 16th February 2002, from 11.00 hrs to 14.00 hrs.
This will be the last protest prior to important forthcoming presidental elections in Zimbabwe. The normal line up of speakers is planned, hopefully with the testimony of an ex-guerrilla, and a Piper, drums and much more.

Lord Monson, who is President of the Society for Individual Freedom, gave a most informative talk under the theme of "Threats to our Civil Liberties from current Government legilsation" in which he outlined in particular the threats posed by the introduction of the European Arrest Warrant and the sell-out of Ulster.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?
No.40 : Mr. A.D. "HANS" WAGNER of Queensborough.
Although he was born in and originated from East Prussia in Germany, Hans Wagner lived most of his life in Natal. He worked on the tugs in Durban Harbour, was married to Hannah, and had two sons, one at least of whom was known to have moved to Germany. He was an active supporter of many patriotic organisations in South Africa, dating back to his dedicated support for the "Save Rhodesia Campaign" during the late 1970s. He was also a loyal member of his local Lutheran Church. A constantly happy, enthusiastic and reliable friend, we would be very keen to make contact with him again, regardless of whether he is still living in Natal or has moved back to Germany.

POSITIVE AIDS
Sir,
Whilst things certainly are bleak politically and socially, nature has her ways of balancing the scales, as the Zimbabweans are now finding out with their food crisis. Zimbabwe was the name of a pile of ruins, and I believe the naming was prophetic. I do believe that if Whites take care of our own business, step aside and don't interfere nature will soon be rectifying a situation that, if we are honest we must say Whites have had a large deal to do with creating. This is still a huge, beautiful country with breathtaking scenery, wonderful weather and unbelievable potential and riches. Once nature has made her adjustments, and Whites learn to stop interfering all the time, this will once again be the country we once knew and loved.
Whilst many despair at the changes that have taken place in the last ten years, so it appears it will soon change again. Just a comment on the death rates here in Africa.
A survey of the pre-natal clinics here in South Africa found about 20% of the mothers HIV positive, and the average UN figures quoted for other southern African countries, e.g. Botswana, Zimbabwe etc., indicate HIV figures of 20-25% of their adult populations. With no health services nor social care infrastructure we can safely assume as many children will share their parents fate. Out of a population of some 700 million in sub-Saharan Africa if these figures are both true and the norm we can extrapolate the HIV death related figures to be in the region of 150 million on the continent in the next 10 years. This does not take into account TB, malaria, tsetse fly, yellow fever etc. and the constant genocides. Bubonic plague has broken out in Zambia and Ebola in Uganda. Burial day here in South Africa is traditionally Saturday, but has now been extended to Tuesday and Thursday to cope with the demand.
The TB hospitals run by SANTA here are turning TB patients away to be treated at home as they are full. Baragwanath, one of the largest general hospitals in the southern hemisphere, advise some 60% of their patients are HIV positive. Soon the wagons may once again be creaking as we head off north into territory devoid of human life.

SALLY DONALDSON
Sally Donaldson, the "Sweetheart of the Rhodesian Forces", died on January 14th 2002. She went into hospital in Harare (Salisbury) for a throat biopsy on January 11th and had undergone an operation. She was 57 years old and leaves a son and daughter still living in Zimbabwe.
Sally was a highly attractive and popular RTV presenter and news-reader throughout the 1970s, and not for nothing did she become known as the "Rhodesian Forces Sweetheart", as her Saturday morning forces request programme on radio was compulsive listening throughout Rhodesia. Alas her latter years seemed full of sadness, and for unknown reasons she decided to remain in "Zimbabwe" even after the ZANU-PF terrorists came to power, a mistake which apparently led to her untimely death as the health service in that beleagured land has now apparently descended to third world standards.
Our thoughts and sympathies go out to her family at this distressing time.

STRATFORD JOHNS
The actor Stratford Johns, who died in January, was born and bred in Pietermaritzburg and became best known for his role as Detective Inspector Barlow in the BBC "Z-Cars" and "Softly-Softly" series.
During the 1960s and 1970s, when most members of the thespian profession timidly eschewed all contact with South Africa, Stratford Johns was not afraid to show his active support for the country of his birth, and he wrote several articles in support of South Africa which appeared in the Daily Express. At a time when the left-wing dominated Equity trade union held great sway in his profession this was an act of considerable courage.

JEFF ASTLE
The former England and West Bromwich Albion footballer Jeff Astle, who sadly died last month, may seem an unlikely person to be remembered in these columns. In 1970, however, when pro-communist trouble-makers such as the despicable Peter Hain were trying to stop friendly tours of the UK by South African sporting teams, a group of patriotic British sportsmen was formed who campaigned for these tours to go ahead. There were considerable numbers of famous players from sports traditionally associated with South Africa, such as rugby and cricket, who lent their names to this campaign, but alas very few British soccer personalities were brave enough to give their open support. One was the great former Manchester City manager Joe Mercer - another was Jeff Astle.

SYDNEY SALES
Sadly we must report that Springbok Club stalwart Sydney "Syd" Sales from Buckinghamshire also died last month, aged 63. Born in Surrey he served in the RAF in both Hong Kong and Cyprus, rising to the rank of sergeant in the RAF Regiment. After he left the service he worked as a senior clerk in the Inland Revenue, but he never lost his instinctive patriotism, and became an active member of a number of British patriotic organisations. His time in Hong Kong and Cyprus seemed to install a greater Imperial patriotism in him however, and he therefore became very interested in the work of the Springbok Club. He was very enthusiastic about the formation of the Chilterns Branch of the Springbok Club, but alas failing health prevented him from attending the inaugural meeting last year. It is hoped therefore that other supporters in the Chilterns area will carry on the work of this branch in his memory.

February 2002 edition
We, along with all other supporters of Western values and civilisation around the world, were delighted when George W. Bush was elected the 43rd President of the United States in November 2000, and had high hopes that he would prove to be an able leader of the West.
Events since the September 11th atrocities have shown that these hopes were not ill-founded - and indeed he has exceeded even our highest expectations. In the immediate aftermath of the terrorist outrages he demonstrated calm but resolute leadership, and the subsequent Western military action against al-Qa'eda terrorist bases in Afghanistan proved speedy, professional and decisive - indeed the entire campaign was completed far quicker and with far less loss of innocent lives than any international pundit ever dared prophesy.
George W. Bush's first State of the Union address to the U.S. Congress was no less courageous than his strong and statesmanlike leadership in battle, for he was not afraid to confront the "politically correct brigade" head-on. By daring to name three rogue states threatening peace in the international arena - Iraq, Iran and the People's Republic of Korea - he demonstrated political bravery which few of his predecessors possessed. He has certainly done a great service to the entire Western world by exposing and highlighting the Axis of Evil which threatens us all.
Our only disagreement with President Bush is that he didn't go far enough in naming those bandit states which comprise the Axis of Evil. Why, for example, did he not mention Libya, a terrorist-supporting nation which his illustrious predecessor Ronald Reagan took firm and effective action against during the 1980s.
But it is the countries of Southern Africa rather than Northern Africa which most concern us. It is not just that the Mugabe regime in Zimbabwe and the ANC regime in South Africa are corrupt and tyrannical - they are also clearly aligned to those states already identified as being part of the Axis of Evil. Mugabe employed the North Koreans to train his infamous 5th Brigade which massacred the Matabele people during the 1980s, and he is now Gaddafi's closest ally (10,000 "Zimbabwean" passports have been issued to Libyans, at least a dozen Libyan training camps have been established around Zimbabwe, and hundreds of Gaddafi's elite troops now act as bodyguards for Mugabe and his henchmen). The former ANC leader in South Africa, Mandela, was also an extremely close personal friend of Gaddafi, and the present ANC leader, Mbeki, sent his foreign minister, somebody called Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, to Tehran on February 4th to cement Iranian/South African economic relations, after which a joint statement was issued condemning the U.S. War against Terrorism.
It is essential for the Axis of Evil to be smashed in order for the world to be a safer and more secure place. But this doesn't just mean overthrowing despots like Saddam Hussein and Gaddafi - their allies and fellow-terrorists in control of Zimbabwe and South Africa must also be removed from power.

The 2002 AGM of the Springbok Club successfully took place at the end of January, expertly chaired by Mr. David Wedgwood. Both the Treasurer and the Organiser submitted their reports for 2001, copies of which are available on request. MDC SOLIDARITY CAMPAIGN DEMONSTRATION
The next Zimbabwe Human Rights Protest, which will mark the 2nd anniversary of the farm invasions, will take place outside the Zimbabwe High Commission, 429 The Strand, London WC2 (nearest tube stations: Charing Cross and Embankment) on Saturday 16th February 2002, from 11.00 hrs to 14.00 hrs.
This will be the last protest prior to important forthcoming presidental elections in Zimbabwe. The normal line up of speakers is planned, hopefully with the testimony of an ex-guerrilla, and a Piper, drums and much more.

THE LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE
The London Swinton Circle's latest meeting, which was addressed by Lord Monson, proved a very successful and well-attended event. Lord Monson, who is President of the Society for Individual Freedom, gave a most informative talk under the theme of "Threats to our Civil Liberties from current Government legilsation" in which he outlined in particular the threats posed by the introduction of the European Arrest Warrant and the sell-out of Ulster.
The London Swinton Circle's next meeting will take place on Thursday 14th March 2002, commencing at 19.00 hrs, at the Morpeth Arms. The speaker will be Mr. Vivian Linacre of the British Weights and Measures Association, and the subject of his talk will be "Metrication by Stealth".

SPRINGBOK CYBER NEWSLETTER
January 2002 edition
January 1st 2002 witnessed probably the most significant and cataclysmic event in European history. On that date 12 of the great nation-states of Europe (or 10, if we are to disregard Luxembourg and the Republic of Ireland) abandonded their proud and historic national currencies in order to adopt the Euro, a faceless common currency controlled by the German-dominated European Central Bank - and thereby, to all intents and purposes, sacrificed their status as independent states. That which tyrants like Napoleon and Hitler failed to achieve by conquest, the bureaucrats of Brussels succeeded in enforcing by far more cunning means.
What is so unbelievable about this catastrophic event is the way that the vast majority of European people seemed to "sleep-walk" into accepting such a fundamental changeover with hardly a protest or a care in the world. Of equal puzzlement has been the apparent lack of active opposition from the much-hyped so-called Right-wing parties in Europe (such as the French Front National and the Austrian Freedom Party) who always become "hot under the collar" in opposing the presence of relatively small, and easily reversible, numbers of non-White immigrants in their midst, yet who have remained almost silent when it comes to resisting a far more fundamental threat to their national independence.
But is the advent of the Euro as irreversible as the Euro-fanatics would have us believe? The recent history of Europe seems to tell us no. In both the former Soviet Union and Yugoslavia newly established nations such as the Ukraine, Slovenia and the Baltic States have not only managed to establish their political independence, but also their own national currencies free from the Rouble and the Dinar. The transition may not have been easy or painless - but it has proved to be possible. It would probably only take one of the nations of "Euroland" to have the courage and the daring to abandon the Euro and to re-establish their own national currency to cause the whole disastrous experiment to come crashing down. At the moment - ironically - Italy seems to be the most likely candidate to make the break. Not only has the changeover to the Euro had more problems there than anywhere else, but the newly-installed patriotic government of Silvio Berlusconi is clearly more Euro-sceptic than any other administration. As we say, it will only take one.
The advent of the common currency, however, is not the whole story - it is the entire concept of the EU (European Union) which is at fault, for trying to merge together geographically close nations with identical economies, but with vastly different histories, cultures and ethnicities is a recipe for disaster. There may have been a certain logic to this in the 20th century after the devastation of WWII - but not in the 21st century. Of the 10 real nation-states of "Euroland" 7 (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Portugal) all have great Imperial histories and connections - in Africa in particular. It is to these respective traditional spheres of influence where they should look for future unions - be they monetary or otherwise.

SPRINGBOK CLUB'S DAY OF THE VOW COMMEMORATION
The Springbok Club was most pleased to welcome Mr. Dennis Delderfield (the National Chairman of "New Britain") as Guest of Honour for our annual Day of the Vow meeting. Mr. Delderfield concentrated upon the plight of the latest part of the world where attempts are being made to sell-out our kith and kin - Gibraltar. He told how the current Labour government was aiming to handover Gibraltar to Spain, but emphasised that this could still be prevented by large and vocal protests by the British people. He went on to say that even many Labour MPs were uneasy about the attempted sell-out of Gibraltar to Spain, and that there had been an excellent campaign in the Daily Mail in support of the rights of the Gibraltarian people during recent weeks. "New Britain", he told us, was planning a march in support of Gibraltar on September 10th 2002, Gibraltar's national day, and also told of other activities which "New Britain" was engaged upon in order to strengthen links with the Commonwealth and dependent territories.
Sadly it must be reported that the turnout for this important event was disappointingly poor, and we pass on our apologies to Mr. Delderfield for any embarrassment caused. We know that many of our more active members could not attend this meeting for personal reasons, but even so we would ask all supporters to make special efforts to attend future functions when we welcome eminent guest speakers. Unfortunately this set-back also resulted in a significant financial shortfall, as buffet-snacks had been ordered for an anticipated attendance four-times as large as that which actually transpired. THE LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE
The next meeting of the London Swinton Circle will take place on Wednesday 23rd January, and the speaker will be 11th Lord Monson.
Lord Monson, an elected hereditary peer and active cross-bencher, will speak on the theme "Threats to our civil liberties from current government legislation". Amongst other issues he will discuss the intended introduction of the European Arrest Warrant. Lord Monson is President of the "Society for Individual Freedom", and writes regularly in the national press, where his recent contributions have dealt with Ulster, freeing General Pinochet and European Arrest Warrants. The meeting will take place in a committee room of the House of Lords, and will start at 18.45 hrs for 19.00 hrs. WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?
No.39 : Mr. BRIAN YOUNG of Durban.
Brian Young was born on the west coast of Scotland, and lived for several years in Jersey before emigrating to South Africa during the late 1970s. A skilled automobile mechanic by profession, he was also a founder member of the Durban Branch of the Rangers FC Supporters Association, a club which he supported avidly. Always convivial and witty company, and a brilliant raconteur, Brian also proved to be a loyal and reliable friend. Many supporters would be very keen to re-make contact with him, but although it is most unlikely that he is still living in South Africa we are uncertain whether he has returned to Scotland, or even to Jersey.

RECENT DEATHS
The recent brutal murder of Mrs. Marika de Klerk, erstwhile wife of former South African State President and traitor F.W. de Klerk, leaves many unanswered questions. By all accounts Mrs. de Klerk lived in a secure and guarded apartment, there was no sign of any break-in, and robbery did not appear to be a motive.
Prior to F.W. de Klerk's elevation to the State Presidency it was commonly believed that his wife was the more right-wing partner, and a strong conservative influence upon him. Once he started his sell-out of the South African nation, however, she adopted the attitude of a dutiful wife and supported his treason and surrender with eager gusto. Her repayment for this supine loyalty was that shortly after F.W. de Klerk retired from active politics he ditched her and ran off with a Greek woman. From then onwards Marika de Klerk's life went pear-shaped. She became engaged to a man much her younger, but he was exposed as a shadey businessman and disappeared without trace shortly before their planned marriage. She then evidently started to write a number of publications about her life and experiences, and was rumoured to be commencing a book detailing her time as wife of the State President when she was so sinisterly murdered.
The circumstances of her ominous murder bear disturbing similarities to two other suspicious political deaths in South Africa. The first was the murder of Robert Smit, the NP candidate for the Springs Constituency, just a few days before the 1977 General Election. This strange murder was never solved, and again seemed motiveless. The second was the alleged "suicide" of John Wiley during the mid-1980s. John Wiley, the MP for Simonstown and only recently appointed cabinet minister, had a strong right-wing reputation. He apparently had no problems of any kind and gave no hints of any depression which may have led him to take his own life, and few people believed the official suicide inquest verdict.
There have certainly been a lot of very sinister things happening in South African political circles over the years - sinister forces which may be still at work today.

Although John Grigg (the erstwhile Lord Altrincham) who died last week was commonly described as a former Tory peer, in reality nothing could be further from the truth, as he only briefly held the Conservative whip. His father was a Liberal MP, and he himself hero-worshipped and wrote a number of biographies about David Lloyd George - and his final political move was to join the soppy wet "Social Democratic Party".
Grigg was a nasty piece of work. Apart from his infamous and cowardly attack on Her Majesty the Queen in his rag "National and English Review", Grigg also became Chairman of the "London Boycott Committee", which advocated a boycott against his kith and kin in South Africa.
It was his despicable article attacking Her Majesty which led to him being physically assaulted in the street by a patriot and member of an organisation called the "League of Empire Loyalists" however. This fine patriotic movement was active throughout the Empire and Commonwealth (having a considerable number of supporters in Southern Africa) from the beginning of the sell-out of the Empire under the Attlee Government following WWII until 1967, when it merged with a number of other seemingly patriotic organisations to form a new political party called the "National Front". This proved to be a mistake however, for in spite of strong initial successes the NF soon obtained an extremist image, and was infiltrated by neo-Nazi elements, and as a result eventually grew considerably weaker so that it no longer held any political clout.
We believe that with the coming age of renewed western neo-Imperialism there is an opportunity for a revival of the "League of Empire Loyalists" - but as a pressure group once again, not as a political party. We will certainly be willing to co-operate with and to encourage any such revival of this organisation in the days ahead.

January 2002 edition
January 1st 2002 witnessed probably the most significant and cataclysmic event in European history. On that date 12 of the great nation-states of Europe (or 10, if we are to disregard Luxembourg and the Republic of Ireland) abandonded their proud and historic national currencies in order to adopt the Euro, a faceless common currency controlled by the German-dominated European Central Bank - and thereby, to all intents and purposes, sacrificed their status as independent states. That which tyrants like Napoleon and Hitler failed to achieve by conquest, the bureaucrats of Brussels succeeded in enforcing by far more cunning means.
What is so unbelievable about this catastrophic event is the way that the vast majority of European people seemed to "sleep-walk" into accepting such a fundamental changeover with hardly a protest or a care in the world. Of equal puzzlement has been the apparent lack of active opposition from the much-hyped so-called Right-wing parties in Europe (such as the French Front National and the Austrian Freedom Party) who always become "hot under the collar" in opposing the presence of relatively small, and easily reversible, numbers of non-White immigrants in their midst, yet who have remained almost silent when it comes to resisting a far more fundamental threat to their national independence.
But is the advent of the Euro as irreversible as the Euro-fanatics would have us believe? The recent history of Europe seems to tell us no. In both the former Soviet Union and Yugoslavia newly established nations such as the Ukraine, Slovenia and the Baltic States have not only managed to establish their political independence, but also their own national currencies free from the Rouble and the Dinar. The transition may not have been easy or painless - but it has proved to be possible. It would probably only take one of the nations of "Euroland" to have the courage and the daring to abandon the Euro and to re-establish their own national currency to cause the whole disastrous experiment to come crashing down. At the moment - ironically - Italy seems to be the most likely candidate to make the break. WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?
No.39 : Mr. BRIAN YOUNG of Durban.
Brian Young was born on the west coast of Scotland, and lived for several years in Jersey before emigrating to South Africa during the late 1970s. A skilled automobile mechanic by profession, he was also a founder member of the Durban Branch of the Rangers FC Supporters Association, a club which he supported avidly. Always convivial and witty company, and a brilliant raconteur, Brian also proved to be a loyal and reliable friend. Many supporters would be very keen to re-make contact with him, but although it is most unlikely that he is still living in South Africa we are uncertain whether he has returned to Scotland, or even to Jersey.

RECENT DEATHS
The recent brutal murder of Mrs. Marika de Klerk, erstwhile wife of former South African State President and traitor F.W. de Klerk, leaves many unanswered questions. By all accounts Mrs. de Klerk lived in a secure and guarded apartment, there was no sign of any break-in, and robbery did not appear to be a motive.
Prior to F.W. de Klerk's elevation to the State Presidency it was commonly believed that his wife was the more right-wing partner, and a strong conservative influence upon him. Once he started his sell-out of the South African nation, however, she adopted the attitude of a dutiful wife and supported his treason and surrender with eager gusto. Her repayment for this supine loyalty was that shortly after F.W. de Klerk retired from active politics he ditched her and ran off with a Greek woman. From then onwards Marika de Klerk's life went pear-shaped. She became engaged to a man much her younger, but he was exposed as a shadey businessman and disappeared without trace shortly before their planned marriage. She then evidently started to write a number of publications about her life and experiences, and was rumoured to be commencing a book detailing her time as wife of the State President when she was so sinisterly murdered.
The circumstances of her ominous murder bear disturbing similarities to two other suspicious political deaths in South Africa. The first was the murder of Robert Smit, the NP candidate for the Springs Constituency, just a few days before the 1977 General Election. This strange murder was never solved, and again seemed motiveless. The second was the alleged "suicide" of John Wiley during the mid-1980s. John Wiley, the MP for Simonstown and only recently appointed cabinet minister, had a strong right-wing reputation. He apparently had no problems of any kind and gave no hints of any depression which may have led him to take his own life, and few people believed the official suicide inquest verdict.
There have certainly been a lot of very sinister things happening in South African political circles over the years - sinister forces which may be still at work today.

Although John Grigg (the erstwhile Lord Altrincham) who died last week was commonly described as a former Tory peer, in reality nothing could be further from the truth, as he only briefly held the Conservative whip. His father was a Liberal MP, and he himself hero-worshipped and wrote a number of biographies about David Lloyd George - and his final political move was to join the soppy wet "Social Democratic Party".
Grigg was a nasty piece of work. Apart from his infamous and cowardly attack on Her Majesty the Queen in his rag "National and English Review", Grigg also became Chairman of the "London Boycott Committee", which advocated a boycott against his kith and kin in South Africa.
It was his despicable article attacking Her Majesty which led to him being physically assaulted in the street by a patriot and member of an organisation called the "League of Empire Loyalists" however. This fine patriotic movement was active throughout the Empire and Commonwealth (having a considerable number of supporters in Southern Africa) from the beginning of the sell-out of the Empire under the Attlee Government following WWII until 1967, when it merged with a number of other seemingly patriotic organisations to form a new political party called the "National Front". This proved to be a mistake however, for in spite of strong initial successes the NF soon obtained an extremist image, and was infiltrated by neo-Nazi elements, and as a result eventually grew considerably weaker so that it no longer held any political clout.
We believe that with the coming age of renewed western neo-Imperialism there is an opportunity for a revival of the "League of Empire Loyalists" - but as a pressure group once again, not as a political party. We will certainly be willing to co-operate with and to encourage any such revival of this organisation in the days ahead.
