By all accounts the guest speaker at this year's graduation ceremony at Queen's University Belfast was the South African primate Desmond Tutu, who evidently made some very ignorant comments in which he tried to compare recent developments in South Africa with those in Northern Ireland.
We do not intend to list all of the 1001 differences between the situations in these two most strategic parts of the globe, but one fundamental difference must be glowingly obvious to all but the primate Tutu. Whereas in South Africa the terrorist ANC have been totally victorious in their complete takeover of the country, and all manifestations of the previous White-ruled nation have been destroyed as a result, in Ulster the terrorist SF/IRA have completely failed to achieve their basic aims.
To be sure, there have been several recent developments in Northern Ireland which have been sickening in the extreme, such as the renaming and restructuring of the RUC and the presence of unreconstructed terrorists in government, but the fact remains that the prospect of a "United Ireland" is now probably further away than when SF/IRA resumed their terror campaign during the late 1960s - indeed it is probably true that the re-unification of the entire United Kingdom is now more likely than an independent united Ireland! The true flag of Northern Ireland still proudly flies across the province rather than the terrorist's flag (unlike in South Africa, where the terrorist government have banned open displays of the nation's real flag), the SF/IRA murder campaign has all but ceased (unlike the ongoing ANC-inspired murder campaign in the South African platteland), and all forms of Loyalist culture are flourishing (unlike in South Africa, where Afrikaner culture is being suppressed).
Hardliners on both sides of the political divide in Ulster have of course been vociferous in condemning the power-sharing government foisted upon the province by Blair's Labour government, but from the Unionist point-of-view the situation undoubtedly could have been far, far worse. SF/IRA have been forced to lay down their weapons and to recognise the Crown's forces of law and order in order to enter the power-sharing government. When one also considers that the First Minister at Stormont is not simply a Unionist but the non-compromising leader of the DUP, Dr. Ian Paisley, then it is quite obvious which side has come out on top.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC KENT BRANCH'S SUMMER GATHERING
Although last month's SC/ELC Kent Branch's summer gathering proved a happy and enjoyable occasion, the turnout alas was surprisingly low. As one member travelled all the way down from the Chilterns in order to attend it was therefore particularly disappointing that not more supporters from the county itself took the trouble to patronise this branch event. Current Branch Chairman Robert Shipley announced that because of pressures in his personal life, and his extra responsibilities as the SC/ELC Overseas Liaison Officer, he wished to step down from the Branch Chairmanship. Happily, however, it seems as if another branch member will be willing to takeover this position, so it is therefore hoped that the branch will be able to obtain more support at future such gatherings.

Albert Weidemann was born at Broken Hill in Northern Rhodesia, before moving to Bulawayo in Southern Rhodesia as a child during the early 1960s. He went to junior school in Bulawayo and senior school in the Rhodesian Midlands, before serving in the Rhodesian Army from 1977 to 1980.
Having moved to the UK, he became Deputy Chairman of the Manchester Branch of the MDC in 2000. He has campaigned vigorously outside the Zimbabwe High Commission in London with both Black and White colleagues, and has spoken out in debates and in both the local and international media exposing Mugabe's mass human rights abuses. He writes as follows:-
"History shall no doubt bear witness to Zimbabwe's illegal president, Robert Gabriel Mugabe's scorched earth policy that has escalated year on year over the last 27 years of his autocratic rule, along with his insistence to remain in power at all costs. Yet, Southern African Development Community (SADC) leaders and African Union (AU) leaders remain resolute, consistently failing to criticize or condemn Zimbabwe's actions. Why? With mass displacement of the vulnerable, the disadvantaged, the homeless, the sick and the poor taking place, and the eviction of Black farm workers who have lived and worked generation upon generation within the farming industry - persecuting, torturing and incarcerating any and all who question or oppose his draconian rule. Many the world over remain shell-shocked in listening to and watching Mugabe's hysterical rants and attempts at blaming not only the White commercial farmers but the international community at large for Zimbabwe's decline and the demise of it's once vibrant, self-sustaining and growing agricultural economy. In Zimbabwe's first decade they acquired 40% of land from Whites. In 1994 a land tenure commission recommended the best way to achieve distribution was through a land tax, implementing the "fast track" resettlement programme in July 2000. What happened to the land tax recommendations? We all know why his 'fast track' programme was implemented!!"

In late August the London Branch of the SC/ELC aim to hold a Summer Braai at The Peacock Pub, Victoria Dock Road, Canning Town, at which it is anticipated that a most interesting guest of honour will be present. Precise details of this event will be given in next month's SCN.
A new branch of the Springbok Club/ELC is in the process of being formed in the Surrey/Sussex area. Many members and supporters in this region have already been contacted in this regard, but if anyone else is interested in becoming actively involved please e-mail : springbok@falklands.org

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC EVENTS
In September it is hoped that the SC/ELC will be welcoming a prominent former Conservative MP who has recently published a series of empirical books about the Royal Houses of Europe as guest speaker. More precise details will be given in future editions of the SCN.
In November the Springbok Club will be staging their annual UDI Day celebration buffet, at which it is hoped to welcome a direct descendant of one of the most prominent original Rhodesian pioneers as guest of honour.

PATRIOTIC FORUM NEWS
The Patriotic Forum (an umbrella grouping of patriotic organisations including the SC/ELC and the London Swinton Circle etc.) anticipates holding two events during October. The first will be a meeting to be addressed by Prof. David Marsland, and the second will be a function to celebrate the 202nd anniversary of victory at the Battle of Trafalgar. Again further details will be given in future editions of the SCN.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS
The London Swinton Circle held three separate meetings during early July.
The first was addressed by Mr. Philip Davies MP (Conservative, Shipley), a leading member of the "Better Off Out" group and owner of the racehorse Osolomio. This proved to be a most successful meeting, with Mr. Davies giving a highly enlightening speech in which he relayed current feelings within the Conservative caucus at Westminster, and overall gave a very optimistic view of possible future developments.
The second was the LSC's annual Summer Buffet at which the guest speaker will be Lord Willoughby de Broke, the UKIP peer and elected hereditary member of the House of Lords. Lord Willoughby de Broke gave an excellent speech in which he explained why he had resigned the Conservative whip in the House of Lords to join UKIP, and also outlined the reasons why he believed that it was in Britain's best interests to leave the EU. Alas this function was marred somewhat by some over-aggressive questioning of the guest speaker by one gentleman in particular, who for good measure also launched an unfortunate verbal attack upon a long-standing and highly-respected LSC supporter. Certainly steps must be taken to prevent similar such unseemly behaviour in future.
The third meeting was addressed by Mr. Philip Hollobone MP (Conservative, Kettering), another member of the "Better Off Out" group. In spite of the fact that Mr. Hollobone's speech unfortunately conveyed a very pessimistic outlook for the immediate future, and the fact that a couple of the views which he expressed were at odds with the opinions of most LSC members, he even so gave a most informative and captivating speech, and demonstrated why there is so much hope for us all in the newer intake of Conservative MPs.

NEW BRITAIN NEWS
New Britain held a most successful event on Sunday 1st July, when in order to mark Canada's National Day they laid a wreath on the grave of Gen. James Wolfe at St.Alfege's Church in Greenwich.
On Saturday 28th July New Britain will be staging a special day's activity in Plymouth in memory of Sir Francis Drake. The highlight of the day will be a challenge game of bowls between the National Chairman of New Britain, Mr. Dennis Delderfield, and the Lord Mayor of Plymouth, Cllr. David James, at Plymouth Hoe Bowling Club. This match will take place between 11.00 hrs and 12.00 hrs, and everyone is invited to come along to watch. Following this challenge match, between 12.00 hrs and 13.00 hrs, a short bowls tournament will take place featuring some of the top teams in Devon, after which a selection of wines provided by English wine-growers from Totnes will be sampled and a toast raised to the immortal memory of Drake and his English fleet. The City of Plymouth Sea Cadets have also been invited to parade at this event, carrying a special banner which has been specially made for the occasion. The final event of the day will be a keynote speech to be delivered by Mr. Delderfield on the theme of "Freedom", which will take place in the Plymouth Hoe Bowling Club Pavilion. It is believed that all this will take place on the exact anniversary of the first sighting of the Spanish Armada when Drake was playing his famous game of bowls!

PRESS STATEMENT FROM THE ZIMBABWE NATIONAL SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS
The Zimbabwe National SPCA (ZNSPCA)’s lawyer, Beatrice Mtetwa, has returned to the High Court to discuss the issue of the Shearwater elephants with a judge, as access to the elephants continued to be denied to the ZNSPCA despite a recent Court order granting access. The ZNSPCA continues to question why access is denied. Welfare concerns grow as yet another elephant has died.
ZNSPCA attorney Beatrice Mtetwa stated before the judge that she found the situation extremely unusual in that the ZNSPCA was being instructed to rely on veterinarians that they did not commission. Ms Mtetwa has written to the Director of Veterinary Services and to one of the veterinarians nominated by Shearwater Adventures to organise a visit to the premises where the elephants are being kept. To date, no reply has been received. Both the above veterinarians were included in the court order at Shearwater’s request.
The ZNSPCA’s statutory right to inspect the elephants continues to be frustrated. The ZNSPCA believes it should not have to go to court in the first place to have access to animals for inspection.
In November 2006, 12 juvenile elephants were captured from wild herds in the Hwange [Wankie] National Park to be "trained" for work with Shearwater Adventures. One elephant subsequently escaped and one died days after capture.
The Zimbabwe National SPCA (ZNSPCA) laid charges on 19 December 2006 to initiate a prosecution process against Shearwater Adventures, for cruelty to animals. The ZNSPCA has consistently been denied access to the 10 elephants that were being held in the bomas at Nakavango range in the Victoria Falls. Veterinarians from both Zimbabwe and South Africa have also been denied access to the elephants.
On the 12th January 2007, the ZNSPCA filed a complaint with Zimbabwe Republic Police in Victoria Falls, for obstruction (in terms of section 12 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act) after access to the elephants was again denied.
The ZNSPCA attempted to meet with representatives of Shearwater to discuss the way forward. The board of the ZNSPCA attempted to engage in dialogue with Shearwater’s appointed lawyer but no agreement was imminent. Shearwater Adventures threatened to bring a civil suit against ZNSPCA for malicious prosecution, claiming that its business had suffered due to the ZNSPCA’s actions.
Shearwater eventually agreed to meet with ZNSPCA in the presence of their lawyer on 31 January 2007. In this meeting it was agreed that both parties would release a statement to the effect that they were working together for the betterment of the elephants concerned.
Shearwater have not withdrawn their threat of malicious prosecution against ZNSPCA.
On 19 February 2007, the ZNSPCA expressed concern that access continued to be denied. After phoning Shearwater, the ZNSPCA was informed by the then Managing Director, Allen Roberts, that until press statements were approved, no access would be granted.
Mrs. Mtetwa, the lawyer acting for and on behalf of the ZNSPCA proceeded to the High Court to obtain an order for ZNSPCA to have unrestricted/unhindered access to the elephants.
On 9 March the Honourable Mr Justice Patel granted a Court order to the ZNSPCA, giving access to the elephants. Shearwater Adventures insisted that they wanted ZNSPCA personnel to be accompanied by two vets, namely Drs Foggin and Zvishiri as well as a member of National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority on such visits. Shearwater Adventures requested that the ZNSPCA would give them 24-hours notice before a visit in order to facilitate the summoning of two veterinarians to accompany them.
The ZNSPCA gave Shearwater Adventures 2 working days notice of an intended visit/inspection on 26 March 2007. Shearwater personnel insisted that it was ZNSPCA’s responsibility to obtain the relevant veterinarians and because this had not been done, the ZNSPCA was denied access.
Shearwater has given access to numerous individuals and companies but still resists the ZNSPCA. In the interim, another elephant has died, leaving 9 elephants in the bomas.

Dr. Hartzenberg was leader of the Conservative Party of South Africa, and spoke at a Springbok Club meeting way back in 1997. Alas, with the increasingly dictatorial rule of the ANC regime in the "new" South Africa opposition politics has become steadily more irrelevant, and as a result all contact has been lost with Dr. Hartzenberg and other members of the former Conservative Party of SA. We have recently been contacted by Dr. Hartzenberg's nephew Joshua Hartzenberg however, who has evidently been trying unsuccessfully to contact his uncle for some time now. LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
OUT OF TUNE
I am a fairly competent church organist: lost in a concert hall or cathedral, but more or less adequate for an average sized church. Despite outward appearances a church is not a peaceful place, and after the decades all I wanted was out, out, OUT. Twenty years later I was approached by a senior member of our Anglican church with the usual request. To my eternal shame and regret I complied.
My predecessor had resigned after a row. This is quite usual, but in this case caused me some difficulty. Most English hymns have more than one tune, and custom invariably decrees which particular hymn-tune should be used. In this case not even the top clergy could be of assistance, so I decided to use the tunes current at my previous church. It soon became apparent that none of my tunes were known to any of the Coloured domestics, who formed far too large a part of the congregation. They rushed up and tore my hands from the keyboard. This happened twice, so I pulled out. A new and competent Black priest was soon afterwards appointed, and I gratefully thought my troubles were over. Actually they had only just begun. A non-stop routine of walking up and banging the organist's chair began. The seating of this church is such that when the congregation is standing for the hymns, the organist is invisible from the front of the church. It is hard to concentrate while this is going on, but I persevered. But when several of these viragos seized the organ stool and tried to shake me off, I did what I should have done long before, and walked out.
God Bless Africa indeed, but NOT the Whites in the Anglican Church!

SO MUCH TO DO
Sir,
The purpose of the Association of the Commonwealth Realms is to ensure we do not complete with existing organisations, but rather to complement them by bringing into the debate on Europe the concerns of those other nations who rely on the Crown for their constitutional security.
By the time you receive this letter I expect that John Clemence will have addressed your meeting. He is a chap greatly underestimated and should long ago have been knighted rather than the sorts of people who have been honoured in recent years.
The main problem, of course, is keeping the Australian Monarchist League alive in spite of rising costs. As you would have been noted from my recent e-mails, there is so much to be done, and yet, as Rhodes so wisely said, so little time.

OBITUARY
NORMAN POTTER
It was with extreme sadness that we recently learnt the tragic news of the sudden death of Norman Potter.
Norman Potter was born at Rochdale in Lancashire, but emigrated to Rhodesia together with his brother immediately following World War II. An engineer by profession, specialising in heavy diesel engineering, he quickly made his mark in his new country, settling at Gatooma. Here he met and married his wife Beryl, and they had two sons together. He subsequently served in the Rhodesian Army, rising to the rank of Sergeant-Major in the Staff Corps, and became an active member of the MOTHs (the Memorable Order of Tin Hats) after leaving the army.
Following the fall of Rhodesia he moved first to Australia, but then back to southern Africa where he settled in Durban. With the decline of South Africa he eventually returned to the UK however, settling at Herne Bay on the Kent coast. His commitment to the cause of his southern African kith and kin still wasn't over however, for he became a very keen, active and popular member of the Kent Branch of the Rhodesians Worldwide movement, as well as attending a number of functions staged by the Kent Branch of the Springbok Club.
Norman Potter will be greatly missed by all who knew him and admired him so much. He embodied all that is best in our race, and all the time that the British nation can continue to produce men like Norman then we will have nothing to fear for the future. Our sincerest sympathies are extended to Beryl, his grandson Josh and all other members of his family.

As Tony Blair nears the end of his tenure as British Prime Minister it is both ironic and sickening to observe that the most often quoted "criticism" of his premiership is probably about the only important thing which he did right during his entire term in office - namely his commitment to Britain's role in the worldwide War against [Islamic] Terrorism.
Forget about all the constitutional vandalism which has taken place during Blair's premiership (most frighteningly brought home by the recent Scottish parliamentary results), forget about the furtherance of the poisonous homosexual agenda (particularly by the obscene "civil partnerships" legislation), forget about the cancellation of Britain's EU rebate - and indeed by the increasing encroachment of the EU into UK affairs, forget about the running-down of Britain's armed forces, forget about the crisis of escalating Eastern European and non-White immigration, forget about the appeasement of SF/IRA terrorists in Northern Ireland, forget about the criminal war against White Christians in the Balkans - no, according to the politically-correct brigade the worst thing which Blair did was to commit Britain to the global struggle against militant Islamic terrorism, not only in Iraq and Afghanistan, but also by initiating more effective security measures in the UK itself.
To be sure, there have also been other less important actions initiated by the Blair government which should be applauded - such as education reforms, increased private financial involvement in public institutions, and military intervention in Sierra Leone (temporary though this alas proved to be) - but it has been Blair's courage in the face of massive extreme left-wing pressure to commit Britain to the fight against expansionist Islamic terrorism which should be praised the most. If this proves to be Blair's greatest legacy then it will indeed be a noble one - though alas in our eyes it will not be able to compensate for all the more disastrous consequences of his rule as detailed above.
When Blair came to power in 1997 we predicted that he would turn out to be a second Ramsey MacDonald; in reality, however, he has turned out to be a second Lear - a tragic figure condemned by all. There have been some who've asserted that Blair has been Britain's worst Prime Minister ever; such a claim though is of course complete nonsense - one only has to remember Attlee (under whose rule Britain was destroyed as a great Imperial power, who initiated massive nationalisation of industry, and who presided over the start of the disastrous non-White immigration programme), Wilson (now widely accepted as a Soviet "agent of influence", and who openly sided with the terrorists in Rhodesia against his own kith-and-kin) and Heath (who betrayed Britain's sovereignty by joining the then EEC and who betrayed Loyal Ulster by proroguing Stormont) to realise that there have been far worse British premiers even in recent history. Having said this, however, Blair must still rank far closer to the bottom than to the top of the league of the greatest British Prime Ministers of all time.
But what of Blair's future? There has been much speculation that he will convert to Roman Catholicism upon his retirement - but might he undertake an even more significant conversion? Both Callaghan and (to a lesser degree) Wilson tended to admit mistakes after they left office. Blair now seems to be vilified by almost all sections of the present Labour Party. His "New Labour" project lies in tatters. Has his 10 year term in office tempered him and made him realise the true realities of the world in which we live - as his admirable latter stance towards the War against Terrorism would tend to suggest? If so then maybe he will be honest enough to admit the failures of the perverse ideology of internationalist and multi-culturalist socialism in the days ahead, and to reject the very concept of the Labour Party - both "old" and "new". If so then perhaps his greatest legacy is yet still to come.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC EMPIRE DAY CELEBRATIONS
The Springbok Club/Empire Loyalist Club held a highly successful buffet last month in order to celebrate Empire Day. The guest speaker was Mr. John Clemence QPM, BSc (Econ.) Hons., a former Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Hong Kong Police. Mr. Clemence gave an extremely well received speech in which he relayed some of his experiences in not only the RHKP, but also in the Metropolitan Police before that. Mr. Clemence is also a leading official in both the Royal Society of St. George and the newly founded Association of the Commonwealth Realms, and as a result of this meeting we trust that even closer links can be forged between our respective patriotic organisations.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC BRANCH NEWS
Following an extremely busy May, the Springbok Club/ELC has decided not to organise any event at national level during June - but the Kent Branch of the movement will be staging an informal get-together towards the end of the month to which all members and supporters are warmly invited. The details of this gathering are as follows :-
Date : Sunday 24th June 2007
Time : Throughout the afternoon - start assembling from 12.00 noon to 13.00 hrs onwards.
Venue : The King's Head, Rochester High Street, Rochester, Kent (The King's Head is approximately 10 minutes walk from Rochester Railway Station. Turn right out of Rochester Railway Station, then turn right again into Rochester High Street. The King's Head can then be found on the left-hand side).

In September it is hoped that the SC/ELC will be welcoming a prominent former Conservative MP who has recently published a series of empirical books about the Royal Houses of Europe as guest speaker. Again further details will be given in future editions of the SCN.

PATRIOTIC FORUM MEETING
The Patriotic Forum (an umbrella grouping of patriotic organisations including both the SC/ELC and the London Swinton Circle) held a special meeting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of victory in the Falklands War last month, at which the guest speaker was Mr. Peter Pepper, a leading official of the Falkland Islands Association. Mr. Pepper, a geologist by profession and a scion of a prominent British military family, lives for at least part of each year in Argentina, where he monitors political and economic developments very closely, and as a result he was able to give a most insightful report regarding the current situation as it effects both the Falkland Islands and Argentina.

The subjects of Lord Willoughby de Broke's speech will include House of Lords reform, EU developments, and foreign policy and defence issues. NEW BRITAIN NEWS
New Britain held their first annual Goldsmith Lecture in memory of Sir James Goldsmith last month, which proved to be a great success. Chaired by Mr. Dennis Delderfield, the National Chairman of New Britain, the speakers at this event were the Rt. Hon. Lord Tebbit CH and Professor Stephen Bush of Manchester University, who both gave most masterful addresses.
New Britain also celebrated "Keep the United Kingdom United Day" on the date of the Trooping of the Colour. After forming a contingent to cheer Her Majesty at the ceremony itself, a pageant was held later during the day in Pimlico where representatives from all the four component parts of the United Kingdom were present. Songs were sung by Tessa Spong representing England and Tim Ward representing Wales, and a special Ulster poem was also read.
On Sunday 1st July New Britain will be staging a special event to mark Canada's National Day. Supporters are invited to assemble at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich at 12.30 hrs, from where a procession will proceed to St.Alfege's Church in Greenwich where a wreath will be laid on the grave of Gen. James Wolfe, accompanied by the singing of the Canadian National Anthem. A message of friendship to the Prime Minister of Canada will also be signed on this occasion, after which a convivial lunch and conducted tour of Greenwich will take place.

LATEST FALKLANDS NEWS
The Argentinian publication "Clarin" recently reported upon the visit to the Falkland Islands by the Rt.Hon. William Hague MP, the Shadow Foreign Secretary, and also included an interview with him - which of course was supportive of the Islanders, and for the Falklands policy of the Blair Government, which he stated was a policy of state.

"I now have an update on the Greenland Sled Dogs. We have been successful in bringing the Danish Prime Minister and Mr. Kleist, a Danish MP, to the bargaining table. They have agreed to set up some teams to see if they can't solve the problem of the horror that the sled dogs must suffer each and every day of their lives.
"Some of the owners even kill their dogs when they are three and four years old, because they refuse to work as hard as they did when they were one and two years old. How sick can a nation be?

THE UNITED COMMONWEALTH SOCIETY OF CANADA
The Federal Commonwealth Society of Canada has recently announced that they have changed their name to the United Commonwealth Society of Canada, and furthermore have ratified an official affiliation with the Springbok Club/Empire Loyalist Club.
James Alcock, the International President of the United Commonwealth Society, writes as follows :-
"We have purchased a 1928 South Africa flag and will be parading it along with other [Commonwealth] member nations' flags in our upcoming annual parade in Toronto.

LOTTERY MYSTERY (1)
Sir,
Hope you are well. As you probably realised, I sent that item [the petition protesting against the alleged fact that the South African National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund was refusing to make grants to the South African Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and that certain branches of the South African SPCA were being threatened with closure as a result - see April's SCN] in good faith. My experience is 6 years old, and the SPCA at that time was not permitted to go on the street to collect, as they had always done in the past, as it was not a charity for humans. That ruling was introduced by the Mbeki Government, so they were really battling for cash. So things have changed.

Why isn't Britain carrying its own weight in Iraq? - Blair did call for war, you know. 8000 British troops, 5500 of whom are to be soon pulled out is nothing compared to the American presence there; the UK has a population of over 60m, it can afford the manpower. Why did Brits talk like they had a potential showdown with Iran? AMNESTY HYPOCRITICAL
Sir,
I was recently shocked to learn about the fate of Australian George Forbes. For those readers not familiar with the plight of this Brisbane man, he is unjustly wasting away in Sudan, found guilty of the murder of a suicide victim he barely knew.
If, like me, you knew nothing about this case, you should rightly be outraged. Especially as you are likely VERY familiar with the so-called "David Hicks" character and his every attempt at finding legal loopholes to wriggle out of the mess he got himself into. So much so, that you'd probably be able to pick his primary school mug-shot from a photo line-out.
And why is it that everyone - from the daily newspapers to Amnesty International - keep insisting to refer to Daoud Mohammed as "David Hicks"? Is it not just a cheap trick to try and make Mr Mohammed come across as more acceptable to the Judeo-Christian culture he undertook to overthrow violently?
Daoud might have spent 5 years incarcerated, but lets face it, it wasn't for writing e-mails or waving placards. But due to all the effort by well meaning (if somewhat naive) folk, he is getting out of jail after only 5 years; and by all accounts he was rather chubby on leaving Guantanamo. A state of health that would have been seen as quite a luxury in the Sudanese hell-hole in which George Forbes languished.
Forbes, no doubt, would have been very eager to swap places with Daoud. At the very least he would've been able to get proper medical attention for the malaria-related kidney problems and dehydration he developed while incarcerated. Rumbek Prison has been described as a cess-pit where you sleep on the floor in overflowing sewage with five hundred inmates sharing three showers...
Difficult to picture, as I never saw Amnesty International carting a model of one of those around the country. Probably not as slick as the bright orange (and squeaky clean) Guantanamo model cells used to fleece a gullible public while making propaganda for "Hicks".
But maybe knowing so much about him and what he looks like around here can actually come in handy one day. After all, that convicted terrorist is going to be freely roaming our streets in the very near future!
Probably way before George Forbes receives any justice...

THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES
As most readers will probably be aware, the editor of the SCN has recently been threatened with legal action by an enemy of our movement in relation to two articles which appeared in our "Rogues Gallery" column - one being over 18 months ago now, and the other just over 12 months ago. Both these items were written in a satirical vein following earlier vile comments defaming leading officials of the Springbok Club/ELC and London Swinton Circle which had been posted on an obscure Internet discussion forum run by the individual in question. Faced with this threatened legal action we therefore had no alternative other than to threaten counter legal action in relation to the defamatory items vilifying us which started the whole dispute, as well as against some even more provocative attacks against us which were posted following the "Rogues Gallery" items in question.
As legal action is still proceeding we feel it best not comment in detail about the specifics of this dispute, suffice to say that we are becoming increasingly sanguine about the eventual outcome. We would however like to thank all our many friends around the globe who have offered us support and encouragement during this most testing time. We have been particularly encouraged by the comments of one supporter from Canada, however, who reminded us that "only the tallest trees attract the wind"!

OBITUARY
EILEEN ANDREWS
It was with great sadness that we recently heard the news of the death of Eileen Andrews.
Born as Eileen Hall in the Shepherd's Bush area of London, Eileen emigrated to the then Southern Rhodesia with her husband Bill Andrews shortly after the end of World War II. Settling in Bulawayo, she became a stalwart of local society, being active in the Women's Institute, the Sons of England and the Masonic ladies movement.
Even after returning to the UK following the fall of Rhodesia in the early 1980s she still maintained her active support for the Rhodesian cause, being a founder member of the Kent Branch of the Rhodesians Worldwide organisation, and being actively involved with the movement almost to the last. We pass on our sincerest condolences to Bill, their daughter Barbara and other members of their family on the sad loss of this great woman who we will always remember with much fondness.
At the same meeting of the Kent Branch of RW where we learnt the sad news of Eileen's death we also learnt that Shereen, another stalwart of the branch, was pregnant, and what's more is anticipating a daughter! Our congratulations are therefore extended to both Shereen and Terry. Rhodesians Never Die!

As Tony Blair nears the end of his tenure as British Prime Minister it is both ironic and sickening to observe that the most often quoted "criticism" of his premiership is probably about the only important thing which he did right during his entire term in office - namely his commitment to Britain's role in the worldwide War against [Islamic] Terrorism.
Forget about all the constitutional vandalism which has taken place during Blair's premiership (most frighteningly brought home by the recent Scottish parliamentary results), forget about the furtherance of the poisonous homosexual agenda (particularly by the obscene "civil partnerships" legislation), forget about the cancellation of Britain's EU rebate - and indeed by the increasing encroachment of the EU into UK affairs, forget about the running-down of Britain's armed forces, forget about the crisis of escalating Eastern European and non-White immigration, forget about the appeasement of SF/IRA terrorists in Northern Ireland, forget about the criminal war against White Christians in the Balkans - no, according to the politically-correct brigade the worst thing which Blair did was to commit Britain to the global struggle against militant Islamic terrorism, not only in Iraq and Afghanistan, but also by initiating more effective security measures in the UK itself.
To be sure, there have also been other less important actions initiated by the Blair government which should be applauded - such as education reforms, increased private financial involvement in public institutions, and military intervention in Sierra Leone (temporary though this alas proved to be) - but it has been Blair's courage in the face of massive extreme left-wing pressure to commit Britain to the fight against expansionist Islamic terrorism which should be praised the most. If this proves to be Blair's greatest legacy then it will indeed be a noble one - though alas in our eyes it will not be able to compensate for all the more disastrous consequences of his rule as detailed above.
When Blair came to power in 1997 we predicted that he would turn out to be a second Ramsey MacDonald; in reality, however, he has turned out to be a second Lear - a tragic figure condemned by all. There have been some who've asserted that Blair has been Britain's worst Prime Minister ever; such a claim though is of course complete nonsense - one only has to remember Attlee (under whose rule Britain was destroyed as a great Imperial power, who initiated massive nationalisation of industry, and who presided over the start of the disastrous non-White immigration programme), Wilson (now widely accepted as a Soviet "agent of influence", and who openly sided with the terrorists in Rhodesia against his own kith-and-kin) and Heath (who betrayed Britain's sovereignty by joining the then EEC and who betrayed Loyal Ulster by proroguing Stormont) to realise that there have been far worse British premiers even in recent history. Having said this, however, Blair must still rank far closer to the bottom than to the top of the league of the greatest British Prime Ministers of all time.
But what of Blair's future? There has been much speculation that he will convert to Roman Catholicism upon his retirement - but might he undertake an even more significant conversion? Both Callaghan and (to a lesser degree) Wilson tended to admit mistakes after they left office. Blair now seems to be vilified by almost all sections of the present Labour Party. His "New Labour" project lies in tatters. Has his 10 year term in office tempered him and made him realise the true realities of the world in which we live - as his admirable latter stance towards the War against Terrorism would tend to suggest? If so then maybe he will be honest enough to admit the failures of the perverse ideology of internationalist and multi-culturalist socialism in the days ahead, and to reject the very concept of the Labour Party - both "old" and "new". If so then perhaps his greatest legacy is yet still to come.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC EMPIRE DAY CELEBRATIONS
The Springbok Club/Empire Loyalist Club held a highly successful buffet last month in order to celebrate Empire Day. The guest speaker was Mr. John Clemence QPM, BSc (Econ.) Hons., a former Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Hong Kong Police. Mr. Clemence gave an extremely well received speech in which he relayed some of his experiences in not only the RHKP, but also in the Metropolitan Police before that. Mr. Clemence is also a leading official in both the Royal Society of St. George and the newly founded Association of the Commonwealth Realms, and as a result of this meeting we trust that even closer links can be forged between our respective patriotic organisations.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC BRANCH NEWS
Following an extremely busy May, the Springbok Club/ELC has decided not to organise any event at national level during June - but the Kent Branch of the movement will be staging an informal get-together towards the end of the month to which all members and supporters are warmly invited. FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC EVENTS
In July the Springbok Club will be staging its annual Rhodes & Founders Day celebration buffet. The Guest of Honour at this event will be Mr. Albert Weidemann, the eminent Zimbabwe human rights activist. Fuller details will be given in next month's edition of the SCN.
In September it is hoped that the SC/ELC will be welcoming a prominent former Conservative MP who has recently published a series of empirical books about the Royal Houses of Europe as guest speaker. Again further details will be given in future editions of the SCN.

PATRIOTIC FORUM MEETING
The Patriotic Forum (an umbrella grouping of patriotic organisations including both the SC/ELC and the London Swinton Circle) held a special meeting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of victory in the Falklands War last month, at which the guest speaker was Mr. Peter Pepper, a leading official of the Falkland Islands Association. Mr. Pepper, a geologist by profession and a scion of a prominent British military family, lives for at least part of each year in Argentina, where he monitors political and economic developments very closely, and as a result he was able to give a most insightful report regarding the current situation as it effects both the Falkland Islands and Argentina.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS
The London Swinton Circle will be staging three most important events during early July, the details of which are as follows :-
On Monday 2nd July the London Swinton Circle will be welcoming Mr. Philip Davies MP (Conservative, Shipley) as guest speaker. This meeting will take place at No.1 Parliament Street, commencing at 19.00 hrs. As well as being a highly-respected MP and prominent member of the "Better Off Out" group, Mr. Davies is also an astute racehorse owner, whose horse Osolomio won at Ripon last week.
On Tuesday 10th July the London Swinton Circle will be holding its annual Summer Buffet at which the guest speaker will be Lord Willoughby de Broke, the UKIP peer and elected hereditary member of the House of Lords. The subjects of Lord Willoughby de Broke's speech will include House of Lords reform, EU developments, and foreign policy and defence issues. NEW BRITAIN NEWS
New Britain held their first annual Goldsmith Lecture in memory of Sir James Goldsmith last month, which proved to be a great success. Chaired by Mr. Dennis Delderfield, the National Chairman of New Britain, the speakers at this event were the Rt. Hon. Lord Tebbit CH and Professor Stephen Bush of Manchester University, who both gave most masterful addresses.
New Britain also celebrated "Keep the United Kingdom United Day" on the date of the Trooping of the Colour. After forming a contingent to cheer Her Majesty at the ceremony itself, a pageant was held later during the day in Pimlico where representatives from all the four component parts of the United Kingdom were present. Songs were sung by Tessa Spong representing England and Tim Ward representing Wales, and a special Ulster poem was also read.
On Sunday 1st July New Britain will be staging a special event to mark Canada's National Day. Supporters are invited to assemble at the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich at 12.30 hrs, from where a procession will proceed to St.Alfege's Church in Greenwich where a wreath will be laid on the grave of Gen. James Wolfe, accompanied by the singing of the Canadian National Anthem. A message of friendship to the Prime Minister of Canada will also be signed on this occasion, after which a convivial lunch and conducted tour of Greenwich will take place.

They have agreed to set up some teams to see if they can't solve the problem of the horror that the sled dogs must suffer each and every day of their lives.

THE UNITED COMMONWEALTH SOCIETY OF CANADA
The Federal Commonwealth Society of Canada has recently announced that they have changed their name to the United Commonwealth Society of Canada, and furthermore have ratified an official affiliation with the Springbok Club/Empire Loyalist Club.
James Alcock, the International President of the United Commonwealth Society, writes as follows :-

LOTTERY MYSTERY (1)
Sir,
Hope you are well. As you probably realised, I sent that item [the petition protesting against the alleged fact that the South African National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund was refusing to make grants to the South African Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and that certain branches of the South African SPCA were being threatened with closure as a result - see April's SCN] in good faith. My experience is 6 years old, and the SPCA at that time was not permitted to go on the street to collect, as they had always done in the past, as it was not a charity for humans. That ruling was introduced by the Mbeki Government, so they were really battling for cash. So things have changed.

But due to all the effort by well meaning (if somewhat naive) folk, he is getting out of jail after only 5 years; and by all accounts he was rather chubby on leaving Guantanamo. A state of health that would have been seen as quite a luxury in the Sudanese hell-hole in which George Forbes languished.
Forbes, no doubt, would have been very eager to swap places with Daoud. At the very least he would've been able to get proper medical attention for the malaria-related kidney problems and dehydration he developed while incarcerated. Rumbek Prison has been described as a cess-pit where you sleep on the floor in overflowing sewage with five hundred inmates sharing three showers...
Difficult to picture, as I never saw Amnesty International carting a model of one of those around the country. Probably not as slick as the bright orange (and squeaky clean) Guantanamo model cells used to fleece a gullible public while making propaganda for "Hicks".
But maybe knowing so much about him and what he looks like around here can actually come in handy one day. After all, that convicted terrorist is going to be freely roaming our streets in the very near future!
Probably way before George Forbes receives any justice...

THE STRUGGLE CONTINUES
As most readers will probably be aware, the editor of the SCN has recently been threatened with legal action by an enemy of our movement in relation to two articles which appeared in our "Rogues Gallery" column - one being over 18 months ago now, and the other just over 12 months ago. Both these items were written in a satirical vein following earlier vile comments defaming leading officials of the Springbok Club/ELC and London Swinton Circle which had been posted on an obscure Internet discussion forum run by the individual in question. Faced with this threatened legal action we therefore had no alternative other than to threaten counter legal action in relation to the defamatory items vilifying us which started the whole dispute, as well as against some even more provocative attacks against us which were posted following the "Rogues Gallery" items in question.
As legal action is still proceeding we feel it best not comment in detail about the specifics of this dispute, suffice to say that we are becoming increasingly sanguine about the eventual outcome. We would however like to thank all our many friends around the globe who have offered us support and encouragement during this most testing time. We have been particularly encouraged by the comments of one supporter from Canada, however, who reminded us that "only the tallest trees attract the wind"!

OBITUARY
EILEEN ANDREWS
It was with great sadness that we recently heard the news of the death of Eileen Andrews.
Born as Eileen Hall in the Shepherd's Bush area of London, Eileen emigrated to the then Southern Rhodesia with her husband Bill Andrews shortly after the end of World War II. Settling in Bulawayo, she became a stalwart of local society, being active in the Women's Institute, the Sons of England and the Masonic ladies movement.
Even after returning to the UK following the fall of Rhodesia in the early 1980s she still maintained her active support for the Rhodesian cause, being a founder member of the Kent Branch of the Rhodesians Worldwide organisation, and being actively involved with the movement almost to the last. We pass on our sincerest condolences to Bill, their daughter Barbara and other members of their family on the sad loss of this great woman who we will always remember with much fondness.
At the same meeting of the Kent Branch of RW where we learnt the sad news of Eileen's death we also learnt that Shereen, another stalwart of the branch, was pregnant, and what's more is anticipating a daughter! Our congratulations are therefore extended to both Shereen and Terry. Rhodesians Never Die!

May 2007 edition
All commentators seemed to be in agreement that the recent Cricket World Cup was a bit of a disaster as far as organisation and administration were concerned - but being held in what is now sadly part of the "third world", the West Indies, perhaps this wasn't too surprising. The omens for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, to be held in yet another newly incorporated part of the "third world", South Africa, therefore look increasingly bleak.
From the playing point of view the performances of the two Southern African countries proved very poor. "Zimbabwe" were shown to be below the standard of many non-Test-playing countries - but the wonder is of course how any country in the grips of such chaos, tyranny and runaway inflation can even field a team for international competition, and more particularly how any White players can debase themselves by representing a terrorist regime which has initiated the slaughter of so many of their kith and kin. The latter condemnation can of course be equally levelled at the White South African players, and perhaps more especially against their ignominious supporters who were prepared to wave the "national" flag of the ANC regime.
Although on the face of it South Africa's playing performance was not too bad as they managed to reach the semi-finals, this result was more through a fluke of fortune rather than by skill. South Africa were thoroughly trounced by Australia both times they met, and couldn't even beat lowly Bangladesh. As we've often stated in the past, South Africa will inevitably decline in all sports now that the country is no longer a civilised "first world" nation. This decline may be slow and have its ups and downs (such as relative successes in this year's "Super 14" competition), but the overall direction is unquestionably down. This isn't just because of the imposition of the retrograde "quota system", but more because of the disintegration of all the infrastructures of state in the "new" South Africa.
But there has been another significant cricketing development recently. Tom Cartwright, the England medium-pace bowler whose suspicious withdrawal from 1968/69 England tour of South Africa precipitated the so-called "D'Oliveira Crisis", died last month. In his obituaries it was revealed that Cartwright was not only a card-carrying member of the Labour Party, but was also very much "Old Labour". There was widespread speculation at the time that Cartwright's withdrawal - which resulted in the illogical inclusion of the batting/all-rounder D'Oliveira - was for political rather than for medical reasons. This revelation about Cartwright's left-wing sympathies would certainly tend to confirm this speculation. It should also never be forgotten that John Vorster did NOT ban the 1968/69 England tour because of D'Oliveira's inclusion, but because of political interference in the selection of the touring squad. It would therefore seem that Vorster was definitely onto something.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC APRIL ACTIVITY
The contingent of Springbok Club/ELC members paid a visit to the MOTH's (Memorable Order of Tin Hats) England Command HQ in Hackney last month, and enjoyed extremely high hospitality from all MOTH members who they met as a result.
The Springbok Club/ELC party was shown around the MOTH HQ (the General Browning Club) by MOTH Hughie Richardson, the PlayBill of the the MOTH's England Command and Treasurer of the General Browning Shellhole. As well as the organisation's main function areas the tour also incorporated viewings of both the MOTH's main meeting room, where the Douglas Bader, Imjimn, General Browning, Inniskilling and Field Marshall Montgomery Shellholes all meet, and the MOTHWA's (Memorable Order of Tin Hats Women's Association) meeting room. In all areas there was much interesting regalia and memorabilia on display, much of it emphasising the MOTH's roots in South Africa.
Extremely good contacts were established as a result of this trip, and it is hoped that the two organisations will be able to work increasingly closely together in the days ahead.

John Clemence was born in 1937 and educated at Rutlish School, Merton. He joined the Metropolitan Police as a Constable in 1956, transferring to Scotland Yard in 1962 and rising to the rank of Detective Inspector. In 1973 he was posted to the Royal Hong Kong Police on temporary attachment as a Detective Superintendent. He transferred to that Force permanently in 1976 and retired in 1992 in the rank of Assistant Commissioner. He was awarded the Queen's Police Medal for distinguished service. He is a Vice-President of the Royal Society of St.George, the immediate past Chairman of the Society, a Vice-President of the Chigwell Branch and a past President of the Hong Kong Branch. Married with three children, he takes a keen interest in music and the theatre (having been an organist and choir-master in the past, and having designed sets for and directed stage shows), history, sailing and narrow-boating, and high-handicap golf.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC EVENTS
The Kent Branch of the SC/ELC aims to hold a summer get-together during June, to which all members and supporters will be invited. Fuller details will be given in June's edition of the SCN.
In July the Springbok Club will be holding its annual Rhodes & Founders Day celebration buffet, at which welcome a prominent ex-Rhodesian with first-hand knowledge of the current situation in Zimbabwe under the ZANU-PF tyranny will be guest of honour.
In August the London Branch of the SC/ELC will be holding its Summer Braai in the Canning Town area, at which a visiting member from Sweden will be guest of honour.

PATRIOTIC FORUM MEETINGS
On 1st May the Patriotic Forum (an umbrella grouping of patriotic organisations including both the SC/ELC and the London Swinton Circle) held a special meeting to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of the Act of Union coming into force. This proved to be a highly successful event, with the novel format of having four speakers present, representing the four component parts of the UK. The four speakers, Allan Robertson (representing Scotland), Chris Luke (England), David Williams (Wales) and Adela Hamilton (Northern Ireland) all gave fascinating cameo talks about what their respective parts of the country had contributed to the Union, and what the Union meant to them.
The Patriotic Forum will be holding a further important meeting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of victory in the Falklands War later this month, the details of which are as follows :-

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS
The London Swinton Circle staged a very successful meeting last month at which the guest speaker was Mr. David Simpson MP, the DUP member for Upper Bann. Mr. Simpson gave a very enlightening speech in which he explained why, although by no means ideal, the DUP had agreed to enter into a power-sharing agreement for devolved administration at Stormont.
On Tuesday 10th July 2007 the London Swinton Circle will be holding their annual summer buffet, at which the guest of honour will be Lord Willoughby de Broke, the UKIP elected hereditary peer, and on Monday 16th July the guest speaker will be Philip Hollobone MP, the Conservative member for Kettering. Fuller details regarding both these events will be appearing in next month's SCN.

NEW BRITAIN NEWS
On Wednesday 9th May (so-called "Europe Day") New Britain staged a highly impressive march down Whitehall (which included several people in special patriotic costumes!), stopping off to hand in a letter at 10 Downing Street demanding a referendum as to whether the UK should leave the European Union, and pointing out that the auditors have refused to sign off the EU accounts for a number of years. The march then proceeded to the European Union's UK office in Queen Anne's Gate where a similar letter was handed in. A polite letter of acknowledgement was subsequently received from 10 Downing Street, but significantly not from the EU's UK office!
On Tuesday 22nd May, with the approval of Lady Goldsmith, New Britain will be holding their first Goldsmith Lecture in memory of Sir James Goldsmith. This will take place at the Sir Ambrose Fleming Lecture Hall, Roberts Building, University College London, commencing at 19.00 hrs, and the speakers will be the Rt. Hon. Lord Tebbit CH and Professor Stephen Bush of Manchester University, with the meeting being chaired by Mr. Dennis Delderfield, the National Chairman of New Britain. Lord Tebbit is planning to deliver an empirical address on the theme of "The State of the British Nation Today", which promises to be of great significance. A few tickets are still available for this event, priced £4.00 per head, and can be purchased at the door prior to the meeting, which commences at 19.00 hrs. The Sir Ambrose Fleming Lecture Hall is situated in Malet Place off Torrington Place, with the nearest underground station being Goodge Street. Both the Argentinian publications Clarin and La Nacion have recently reported comments by Tony Blair that he would have sent troops to recover the Falklands in 1982, just as Margaret Thatcher did - and his admiration for her political courage in doing this.

Rob Busey from the United States has recently sent us a most interesting report from this year's annual Herzliya Conference, at which a number of U.S. presidential aspirants showed encouraging awareness of the dangers which Iran posed to the West. It reads as follows :-
"Richard Perle assured the conference that [George W.] Bush will attack Iran rather than see it acquire nuclear weapons capabilities.
"Newt Gingrich remarked 'Citizens who do not wake up every morning and think about possible catastrophic civilian casualties are deluding themselves. Three nuclear weapons are a second holocaust. ... I'll repeat it. Three nuclear weapons are a second holocaust. ... Our enemies are fully as determined as Nazi Germany and more determined than the Soviets. Our enemies will kill us the first chance they get. If we knew that tomorrow morning we would lose Haifa, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, what would we do to stop it? If we knew that we would tomorrow lose Boston, San Francisco or Atlanta, what would we do?'
"Mitt Romney agreed. Ahmadinejad's Iran is more dangerous than Khrushchev's Soviet Union, which put missiles in Cuba. For the Soviets 'were never suicidal. Soviet commitment to national survival was never in question. That assumption cannot be made to an irrational regime [Iran] that celebrates martyrdom.'

The Prime Minister should use his influence to have it removed immediately and replaced by a memorial honouring the victims of international terrorism and those who risk their lives combating this evil."
We wonder therefore whether other readers could also attempt to submit similar petitions to this, to let the controllers know the depth of feeling on this important issue.

Jenny Salzman was an outstanding beauty and a close friend. Her parents (her mother was of Rhodesian origin) alas broke up when she was very young, and as a result she had a troubled childhood, being brought up by her paternal grandparents who ran a successful private taxi company. Her brother Spencer was a very affable chap, and indeed became a keen supporter of the patriotic movement during the late 1980s. We would be extremely keen to know where they both are now.

WHAT THE RHODESIANS DID FOR US
Sir,
In the days of UDI, during the war between Rhodesian forces and terrorists, Rhodesian engineers were able to make roadside bomb and landmine-resistant vehicles, using parts from Land Rovers and other vehicles. They were very effective and saved many lives.
Thirty years on, experts and engineers now seem unable to produce something similar to protect our poor, exposed troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
If a small country such as Rhodesia could produce vehicles like that, surely our modern engineers should be able to build something better than the vehicles being used now.

CAPE OF NO HOPE
Sir,
Out of the blue what passes for a government in South Africa has announced a 500% countrywide increase in municipal housing valuations. The night before last there was a hostile ratepayers' meeting in our local dance hall. This normally takes five hundred, but far more than this figure attended: latecomers were sitting on the carpeted floor with their backs against the wall.
My own rates are nearly two thousand monthly, and my local pension is R7800, the British pension one thousand. My wife works as well. I am now 81, so it is quite impossible to augment my income. There are a lot of South Africans here in Edmonton and Fort McMurray [3 hours north of us]. You hear people speaking Afrikaans often. They all say they will never go back again. We also have South African friends in Toronto, St. Catharine's, Calgary, Vancouver and Mission [British Columbia]. They also say they will never go back to live there again.
One friend from Mission went back for 2 months in Dec/Jan after he tragically lost his wife to lung cancer. He says the people in South Africa are all walking around with blinkers on. They all say "alles sal regkom" not sure when this miracle is suppose to happen as I can't see any light at the end of that tunnel!

We've recently heard rumours that young Mr. Arthur Kemp (see SCNs passim) has left South Africa again (apparently leaving his wife and children behind), and is now flitting backwards and forwards between the United States and Europe attempting to ingratiate himself with neo-Nazi groups on both sides of the Atlantic. We know from firsthand past contact, of course, that young Mr. Kemp is most certainly NOT a neo-Nazi crank himself - so what therefore is the purpose of his continuing attempts to create such an image for himself, and who is paying for his current activities? Any confirmation about these rumours and any further information about this turncoat would be most gratefully received.

OBITUARY
BOB WOOLMER
Bob Woolmer, who was assassinated by mysterious international forces during the recent Cricket World Cup in Jamaica, was a tragic figure.
A superb Kent and England cricketer himself during his playing days, and was a particular hero of English cricket fans at this time. During the final part of his playing career, furthermore, he seemed to nail his colours firmly to the mast by taking part in "rebel" tours to South Africa and remaining in the country to coach during the days of civilised rule. With the approaching change in dispensation in that sorry land he sadly acted like a "Vicar of Bray" however, and remained in the country under the auspices of the new sell-out cricketing authorities. During this time he also appeared in a cameo SABC documentary about his son, who he was encouraging to play not for his local White schoolboy side, but for a Coloured team in one of the dangerous Cape Town Coloured townships. Many people observed that it seemed the height of irresponsibility to put the safety of his own son regularly at risk simply in order to make a warped political point.
Woolmer subsequently sickeningly became coach to the "new" South African team, but a few years later made an even greater departure from his roots when he accepted the position as coach for the Pakistan side. Woolmer was not a Muslim of course, and turned out to be totally out of his depth in trying to comprehend the intrigues, conflicts and corruption of the Indian sub-continent. He unquestionably made a great mistake in accepting this appointment therefore, for his complete naivety in this regard was probably the main cause of his tragic and premature death.

All commentators seemed to be in agreement that the recent Cricket World Cup was a bit of a disaster as far as organisation and administration were concerned - but being held in what is now sadly part of the "third world", the West Indies, perhaps this wasn't too surprising. The omens for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, to be held in yet another newly incorporated part of the "third world", South Africa, therefore look increasingly bleak.
From the playing point of view the performances of the two Southern African countries proved very poor. "Zimbabwe" were shown to be below the standard of many non-Test-playing countries - but the wonder is of course how any country in the grips of such chaos, tyranny and runaway inflation can even field a team for international competition, and more particularly how any White players can debase themselves by representing a terrorist regime which has initiated the slaughter of so many of their kith and kin. The latter condemnation can of course be equally levelled at the White South African players, and perhaps more especially against their ignominious supporters who were prepared to wave the "national" flag of the ANC regime.
Although on the face of it South Africa's playing performance was not too bad as they managed to reach the semi-finals, this result was more through a fluke of fortune rather than by skill. South Africa were thoroughly trounced by Australia both times they met, and couldn't even beat lowly Bangladesh. As we've often stated in the past, South Africa will inevitably decline in all sports now that the country is no longer a civilised "first world" nation. This decline may be slow and have its ups and downs (such as relative successes in this year's "Super 14" competition), but the overall direction is unquestionably down. This isn't just because of the imposition of the retrograde "quota system", but more because of the disintegration of all the infrastructures of state in the "new" South Africa.
But there has been another significant cricketing development recently. Tom Cartwright, the England medium-pace bowler whose suspicious withdrawal from 1968/69 England tour of South Africa precipitated the so-called "D'Oliveira Crisis", died last month. In his obituaries it was revealed that Cartwright was not only a card-carrying member of the Labour Party, but was also very much "Old Labour". There was widespread speculation at the time that Cartwright's withdrawal - which resulted in the illogical inclusion of the batting/all-rounder D'Oliveira - was for political rather than for medical reasons. This revelation about Cartwright's left-wing sympathies would certainly tend to confirm this speculation. It should also never be forgotten that John Vorster did NOT ban the 1968/69 England tour because of D'Oliveira's inclusion, but because of political interference in the selection of the touring squad. It would therefore seem that Vorster was definitely onto something.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC APRIL ACTIVITY
The contingent of Springbok Club/ELC members paid a visit to the MOTH's (Memorable Order of Tin Hats) England Command HQ in Hackney last month, and enjoyed extremely high hospitality from all MOTH members who they met as a result.
The Springbok Club/ELC party was shown around the MOTH HQ (the General Browning Club) by MOTH Hughie Richardson, the PlayBill of the the MOTH's England Command and Treasurer of the General Browning Shellhole. As well as the organisation's main function areas the tour also incorporated viewings of both the MOTH's main meeting room, where the Douglas Bader, Imjimn, General Browning, Inniskilling and Field Marshall Montgomery Shellholes all meet, and the MOTHWA's (Memorable Order of Tin Hats Women's Association) meeting room. In all areas there was much interesting regalia and memorabilia on display, much of it emphasising the MOTH's roots in South Africa.
Extremely good contacts were established as a result of this trip, and it is hoped that the two organisations will be able to work increasingly closely together in the days ahead.

John Clemence was born in 1937 and educated at Rutlish School, Merton. He joined the Metropolitan Police as a Constable in 1956, transferring to Scotland Yard in 1962 and rising to the rank of Detective Inspector. In 1973 he was posted to the Royal Hong Kong Police on temporary attachment as a Detective Superintendent. He transferred to that Force permanently in 1976 and retired in 1992 in the rank of Assistant Commissioner. He was awarded the Queen's Police Medal for distinguished service. He is a Vice-President of the Royal Society of St.George, the immediate past Chairman of the Society, a Vice-President of the Chigwell Branch and a past President of the Hong Kong Branch. Married with three children, he takes a keen interest in music and the theatre (having been an organist and choir-master in the past, and having designed sets for and directed stage shows), history, sailing and narrow-boating, and high-handicap golf.

PATRIOTIC FORUM MEETINGS
On 1st May the Patriotic Forum (an umbrella grouping of patriotic organisations including both the SC/ELC and the London Swinton Circle) held a special meeting to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of the Act of Union coming into force. This proved to be a highly successful event, with the novel format of having four speakers present, representing the four component parts of the UK. The four speakers, Allan Robertson (representing Scotland), Chris Luke (England), David Williams (Wales) and Adela Hamilton (Northern Ireland) all gave fascinating cameo talks about what their respective parts of the country had contributed to the Union, and what the Union meant to them.
The Patriotic Forum will be holding a further important meeting to celebrate the 25th anniversary of victory in the Falklands War later this month, the details of which are as follows :-

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS
The London Swinton Circle staged a very successful meeting last month at which the guest speaker was Mr. David Simpson MP, the DUP member for Upper Bann. Mr. Simpson gave a very enlightening speech in which he explained why, although by no means ideal, the DUP had agreed to enter into a power-sharing agreement for devolved administration at Stormont.
On Tuesday 10th July 2007 the London Swinton Circle will be holding their annual summer buffet, at which the guest of honour will be Lord Willoughby de Broke, the UKIP elected hereditary peer, and on Monday 16th July the guest speaker will be Philip Hollobone MP, the Conservative member for Kettering. NEW BRITAIN NEWS
On Wednesday 9th May (so-called "Europe Day") New Britain staged a highly impressive march down Whitehall (which included several people in special patriotic costumes!), stopping off to hand in a letter at 10 Downing Street demanding a referendum as to whether the UK should leave the European Union, and pointing out that the auditors have refused to sign off the EU accounts for a number of years. The march then proceeded to the European Union's UK office in Queen Anne's Gate where a similar letter was handed in. A polite letter of acknowledgement was subsequently received from 10 Downing Street, but significantly not from the EU's UK office!
On Tuesday 22nd May, with the approval of Lady Goldsmith, New Britain will be holding their first Goldsmith Lecture in memory of Sir James Goldsmith. This will take place at the Sir Ambrose Fleming Lecture Hall, Roberts Building, University College London, commencing at 19.00 hrs, and the speakers will be the Rt. Hon. Lord Tebbit CH and Professor Stephen Bush of Manchester University, with the meeting being chaired by Mr. Dennis Delderfield, the National Chairman of New Britain. Lord Tebbit is planning to deliver an empirical address on the theme of "The State of the British Nation Today", which promises to be of great significance. A few tickets are still available for this event, priced £4.00 per head, and can be purchased at the door prior to the meeting, which commences at 19.00 hrs. The Sir Ambrose Fleming Lecture Hall is situated in Malet Place off Torrington Place, with the nearest underground station being Goodge Street. Rob Busey from the United States has recently sent us a most interesting report from this year's annual Herzliya Conference, at which a number of U.S. presidential aspirants showed encouraging awareness of the dangers which Iran posed to the West. It reads as follows :-
"Richard Perle assured the conference that [George W.] Bush will attack Iran rather than see it acquire nuclear weapons capabilities.
"Newt Gingrich remarked 'Citizens who do not wake up every morning and think about possible catastrophic civilian casualties are deluding themselves. Three nuclear weapons are a second holocaust. ... I'll repeat it. Three nuclear weapons are a second holocaust. ... Our enemies are fully as determined as Nazi Germany and more determined than the Soviets. Our enemies will kill us the first chance they get. If we knew that tomorrow morning we would lose Haifa, Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, what would we do to stop it? If we knew that we would tomorrow lose Boston, San Francisco or Atlanta, what would we do?'
"Mitt Romney agreed. Ahmadinejad's Iran is more dangerous than Khrushchev's Soviet Union, which put missiles in Cuba. For the Soviets 'were never suicidal. Soviet commitment to national survival was never in question. That assumption cannot be made to an irrational regime [Iran] that celebrates martyrdom.'

The Prime Minister should use his influence to have it removed immediately and replaced by a memorial honouring the victims of international terrorism and those who risk their lives combating this evil."
We wonder therefore whether other readers could also attempt to submit similar petitions to this, to let the controllers know the depth of feeling on this important issue.

Jenny Salzman was an outstanding beauty and a close friend. Her parents (her mother was of Rhodesian origin) alas broke up when she was very young, and as a result she had a troubled childhood, being brought up by her paternal grandparents who ran a successful private taxi company. Her brother Spencer was a very affable chap, and indeed became a keen supporter of the patriotic movement during the late 1980s. We would be extremely keen to know where they both are now.

WHAT THE RHODESIANS DID FOR US
Sir,
In the days of UDI, during the war between Rhodesian forces and terrorists, Rhodesian engineers were able to make roadside bomb and landmine-resistant vehicles, using parts from Land Rovers and other vehicles. They were very effective and saved many lives.
Thirty years on, experts and engineers now seem unable to produce something similar to protect our poor, exposed troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
If a small country such as Rhodesia could produce vehicles like that, surely our modern engineers should be able to build something better than the vehicles being used now.

CAPE OF NO HOPE
Sir,
Out of the blue what passes for a government in South Africa has announced a 500% countrywide increase in municipal housing valuations. The night before last there was a hostile ratepayers' meeting in our local dance hall. This normally takes five hundred, but far more than this figure attended: latecomers were sitting on the carpeted floor with their backs against the wall.
My own rates are nearly two thousand monthly, and my local pension is R7800, the British pension one thousand. My wife works as well. I am now 81, so it is quite impossible to augment my income. The so-called government has been cagey about what happens should one be unable to meet the increased rate. Prevalent feeling is that one's house will be confiscated, and no allowance made.

There are a lot of South Africans here in Edmonton and Fort McMurray [3 hours north of us]. You hear people speaking Afrikaans often. They all say they will never go back again. We also have South African friends in Toronto, St. Catharine's, Calgary, Vancouver and Mission [British Columbia]. They also say they will never go back to live there again.
One friend from Mission went back for 2 months in Dec/Jan after he tragically lost his wife to lung cancer. He says the people in South Africa are all walking around with blinkers on. They all say "alles sal regkom" not sure when this miracle is suppose to happen as I can't see any light at the end of that tunnel!

We've recently heard rumours that young Mr. Arthur Kemp (see SCNs passim) has left South Africa again (apparently leaving his wife and children behind), and is now flitting backwards and forwards between the United States and Europe attempting to ingratiate himself with neo-Nazi groups on both sides of the Atlantic. We know from firsthand past contact, of course, that young Mr. Kemp is most certainly NOT a neo-Nazi crank himself - so what therefore is the purpose of his continuing attempts to create such an image for himself, and who is paying for his current activities? Any confirmation about these rumours and any further information about this turncoat would be most gratefully received.

OBITUARY
BOB WOOLMER
Bob Woolmer, who was assassinated by mysterious international forces during the recent Cricket World Cup in Jamaica, was a tragic figure.
A superb Kent and England cricketer himself during his playing days, and was a particular hero of English cricket fans at this time. During the final part of his playing career, furthermore, he seemed to nail his colours firmly to the mast by taking part in "rebel" tours to South Africa and remaining in the country to coach during the days of civilised rule. With the approaching change in dispensation in that sorry land he sadly acted like a "Vicar of Bray" however, and remained in the country under the auspices of the new sell-out cricketing authorities. During this time he also appeared in a cameo SABC documentary about his son, who he was encouraging to play not for his local White schoolboy side, but for a Coloured team in one of the dangerous Cape Town Coloured townships. Many people observed that it seemed the height of irresponsibility to put the safety of his own son regularly at risk simply in order to make a warped political point.
Woolmer subsequently sickeningly became coach to the "new" South African team, but a few years later made an even greater departure from his roots when he accepted the position as coach for the Pakistan side. Woolmer was not a Muslim of course, and turned out to be totally out of his depth in trying to comprehend the intrigues, conflicts and corruption of the Indian sub-continent. He unquestionably made a great mistake in accepting this appointment therefore, for his complete naivety in this regard was probably the main cause of his tragic and premature death.

The next few weeks will witness two very important sets of elections which will have great significance for the future of the West.
Firstly, of course, there is the forthcoming French Presidential election. We think it is fair to say that Jacques Chirac has proved to be a big disappointment for all those who believed he would stand up for Western civilisation when first elected. Not only has he done nothing to solve France's immigration problem, but more reprehensively he failed to give full support to the West's War against Terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan - presumably because he wished to appease France's estimated 5 million non-White population (most of whom being Muslim). His UMP successor, Nicolas Sarkozy, seems to be a far tougher and more reliable character however. Having said that we believe that by far the best candidate on offer is Phillippe de Villiers of the MPF, a man with an impeccable record for supporting the rights of the great European nation-states and Western solidarity. Alas, however, de Villiers's chances of success seem remote, but even so we would advocate a vote for him in the first ballot and a vote for Sarkozy in the second. Above all, however, we trust that the French electorate won't disgrace itself again by voting the Vichy-heir Jean-Marie le Pen into second place. Le Pen and his Front National party are of course total hypocrites. On one hand they claim to oppose further immigration and the Islamic influence in France, yet on the other hand they also opposed the West's War against (Islamic) terrorism! As if such hypocrisy wasn't bad enough, le Pen even once paid a friendly visit to the evil Islamic monster Saddam Hussein - such seems to be his hatred for his own Western civilisation!
Secondly there are the forthcoming UK local elections - most importantly those for the Scottish "Parliament". The apparent support for the separatist Scottish Nationalist Party (perhaps better referred to as the Scottish Ba'athist Party in view of their sickening opposition to the War against Terrorism in Iraq!) is worrying in the extreme. Ever since the official birth of the United Kingdom three hundred years ago the enemies of the British people have been trying to destroy the glorious nation. In 1922, alas, after decades of foreign-instigated terrorism in Ireland, they succeeded in the first part of their wretched aim, and now - having failed to destroy loyal Ulster by terror - they are turning their attention instead to Scotland. Make no bones about it, the SNP may not be as evil and violent as SF/IRA, but they are no less poisonous. It is therefore vitally important that the SNP are defeated at all costs. We like the manifesto of the Scottish Unionist Party very much, and would certainly advocate support for them on the "party lists". When it comes to the first-past-the-post constituency vote, however, where there is a real risk of an SNP candidate being elected, then we advise a vote for the pro-union party most likely to defeat them - even if this means holding your nose and voting Labour.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC MARCH MEETING
The Springbok Club/ELC was most honoured to be able to welcome Mr. Michael Shrimpton, the famed barrister and strategic intelligence and counter-terrorism consultant, as guest speaker last month. Mr. Shrimpton, a member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, spoke under "Chatham House rules", which means that alas the exact details of his speech cannot be quoted. The theme of his talk was "The Intelligence War against the British Empire from 1857 to 2007", and the information which he imparted proved to be both dramatic and eye-opening, and all present were full of praise for his most captivating and extremely well-researched address.

APRIL SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC ACTIVITY
The Springbok Club/Empire Loyalist Club will be staging a trip to the MOTH's (Memorable Order of Tin-Hats) England Command HQ in April, the details of which are as follows :-

The host for this visit will be Moth Hughie Richardson, the PlayBill of the MOTH's England Command HQ and Treasurer of the General Browning Shellhole. He will be giving a conducted tour around the Command HQ building and showing the various memorabilia which the organisation's England Command possesses, as well as explaining a little about the movement's history and structure in the UK.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC EVENTS
On Friday 25th May the SC/ELC will be staging their traditional annual Empire Day buffet in central London, at which the guest of honour will be a former Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Hong Kong Police. Fuller details will be given in next month's SCN.
The Kent Branch of the SC/ELC aims to hold a summer braai during June, to which all members and supporters will be invited. Again fuller details will be given in future editions of the SCN.
In July the SC/ELC will be holding a Rhodes & Founders Day celebration buffet, at which it is hoped to welcome a prominent ex-Rhodesian with first-hand knowledge of the current situation in Zimbabwe under the ZANU-PF tyranny as guest of honour.

PATRIOTIC FORUM MEETINGS
During May the SC/ELC will be joining forces with the London Swinton Circle under the banner of the Patriotic Forum in order to stage two events commemorating highly significant anniversaries.
The first will be a meeting to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of the Act of Union, the details of which are as follows :-
Venue : The Counting House, 50 Cornhill, London EC3 (nearest tube station: Bank)
Date : Tuesday 1st May 2007 (the exact 300th anniversary of the Act of Union coming into force)
Time : 18.45 hrs for 19.00 hrs
The Act of Union - the birth of the United Kingdom - is one of the most important dates in British history, though it has reprehensively been largely overlooked by the New Labour establishment. To mark this highly significant date the Patriotic Forum has therefore invited along four leading patriots and unionists from Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland who will give cameo speeches about what their respective constituent parts of the Union mean to them, and what they have contributed to the success story of the United Kingdom as a whole.
The second meeting will be to celebrate the 25th anniversary of victory in the Falklands War, and will be held on Wednesday 23rd May, where the guest speaker will be Mr. Peter Pepper of the Falkland Islands Association. Further details will be given in next month's SCN.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS
The London Swinton Circle was most honoured to be able to welcome Lady [Ann] Winterton MP as guest speaker at their latest meeting. Lady Winterton gave a highly entertaining and informative address in which she concentrated upon the overbearing effects of the "nanny state" and the financial implications of continuing membership of the EU. Although not all present agreed with everything which she said, everybody was even so in full agreement with the basic themes of her talk, particularly her assertions the Britain would be better off out of the EU.

FORTHCOMING NEW BRITAIN EVENTS
The New Britain party will be staging two highly significant events during May.
On Wednesday 9th May (so-called "Europe Day") New Britain will be organising a march down Whitehall stopping off to hand a letter to 10 Downing Street demanding a referendum as to whether the UK should leave the European Union, and pointing out that the auditors have refused to sign off the EU accounts for a number of years. The march will then go on to the European Union's UK office in Queen Anne's Gate to hand in a letter similar to the one handed in at Downing Street. The march assembles in Whitehall Place at 13.30 hrs and moves off down Whitehall at 14.00 hrs sharp.
On Tuesday 22nd May, with the approval of Lady Goldsmith, New Britain will be holding their first Goldsmith Lecture in memory of Sir James Goldsmith. This will take place at the Sir Ambrose Fleming Lecture Hall, Roberts Building, University College London, commencing at 19.00 hrs, and the speakers will be the Rt. Hon. Lord Tebbit CH and Professor Stephen Bush of Manchester University, with the meeting being chaired by Mr. Dennis Delderfield, the National Chairman of New Britain. GOOD NEWS FROM AUSTRALIA
Recently released figures from the 2002 Australian Census have shown that the Australian population was 19,000,000, and that only 285,000 (1.5%) of these were Muslim. Even in Lakemba, a Sydney constituency where a Muslim extremist is evidently planning to stand in the NSW state elections, the Muslim population is only 13% of the electorate. This puts a lie to the oft-quoted claim by multi-culturalists and defeatists that Australia is somehow becoming a multi-racial society with Muslims forming the majority in vast areas of all major cities. Australia is still an overwhelmingly White nation, and will always remain so - unless the multi-culturalists and defeatists succeed with their doom-mongering propaganda.

LATEST FALKLANDS NEWS
Brigadier Nick Davies, Commander of British Forces in the South Atlantic, has been quoted in the Argentinian publication "Clarin" as saying "I'm here to deter any sort of aggression. Our capacity here is sufficient to face a wide spectrum of possible military aggressions, and we have well prepared plans to immediately send reinforcement, if these were necessary". The article also quotes Governor Alan Huckle saying "the lessons of 1982 have been learnt, above all over the signs of danger which were misinterpreted in 1982". The article goes on to mention the new guard ship HMS Clyde which has just been commissioned to replace the Dumbarton Castle.

THE SOUTH AFRICAN SPCA - WHAT IS GOING ON?
Regular readers will undoubtedly recall that in April 2006 we re-circulated a petition protesting against the alleged fact that the South African National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund was refusing to make grants to the South African Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and that certain branches of the South African SPCA were being threatened with closure as a result. We received this petition from a reliable source and re-circulated it in good faith, particularly as the claimed development tied-in completely with the general meltdown and collapse of South African society under the current ANC-regime.
The result of our re-circulation of this petition was dramatic in the extreme, for we were immediately contacted from several sources (including from the South African National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund themselves, quoting officials from the South African SPCA) who assured us that the petition was a "hoax", so, believing this to be true, we issued a retraction in a subsequent edition of the SCN.
Recently, however, some twelve months later, we received a very similar petition from a completely different source making much the same claims. Just what is going on here we therefore wonder? Is the South African SPCA receiving National Lottery grants or not? Are branches of the SPCA being threatened with closure or not? But if there is no truth in these claims then why are they continuing to be circulated? We would be very keen therefore to receive any further information about this most mystifying state of affairs.

No.101 : Mr. MIKE BENNETT of Durban
Mike Bennett was conceived in South Africa, but born in Canada. He moved to Durban during the late 1970s however, where he held a leading position in the computer department of a large multi-national company. He married his beautiful wife Allison around 1980, and the happy couple re-located to Canada shortly thereafter. Alas they couldn't settle and returned to Durban a couple of years later, but sadly divorced a year or so after. Allison is believed subsequently to have married a soccer referee, but alas nothing further is known about either of them. A number of old friends would be very keen to learn where they are now.

WHEN IS A TERRORIST NOT A TERRORIST?
Sir,
Many important politicians and clerics ignored or justified Robert Mugabe's terrorist training in China, overlooked his devotion to communism, and befriended a man who is now guilty of the same crimes as Saddam Hussein.
Zimbabwe's Black population should now be 18 million. 4 million have emigrated, or escaped, 3 million are "missing", 11 million remain, including 1.3 million orphans. The economy has been destroyed, the health system is chaotic, non-resident pensions are devalued and virtually stolen, and semi-starvation is prevalent. Political killing and torture are widespread and bodies are bulldozed into large pits without traditional ceremony. Mugabe hangs onto power at all costs while his cronies make a lot of money from "round tripping" on Zimbabwe's currency exchange rate.
South Africa and the African bloc prevent this genocide from being discussed at the UN and Western nations put good relations with South Africa above any human rights considerations in Zimbabwe. Mugabe doesn't seem to merit Regime Change.
Do these politicians and clerics still champion this man, while condemning Saddam - or will they now admit to a serious lack of judgement?
Are they prepared to help the many Zimbabweans who are suffering because of their false judgement - or have they buried their mistake while Zimbabwe buries its victims?
The people who supported Mugabe so fervently should now, just as vigorously, give assistance to his victims. The Zimbabwe Stolen Pensions Petition would be a good place to start. This petition, with 1984 signatures, has already been delivered to the British government and a copy has been sent to The Queen. The Federal Commonwealth Society takes part in an annual parade on the Saturday prior to Easter in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada. We do this every year and we will take pictures of the parade on post them on our web site.
This year, we will be carrying the flags of our members' nations and member societies. To represent our affiliation with the Springbok Club, we have decided to carry the previous South African flag - the one adopted in 1928 which has orange white and blue horizontal bars with the Union Jack and the two Boer Republics flags in the centre. We will not be carrying the present South African flag adopted in 1994. This will be carried along with the Society's flag (a Union Jack with the Maple Leaf and Southern Cross constellation in the centre), the Union Jack, the Canadian Red Ensign, Australian and New Zealand flags, Falkland Islands flag and pre-1776 American flag to represent our members in the USA (a Red Ensign with the 1606 Union Jack in the corner).

HEY MAN!
Sir,
Africa is a sad place of excuses and intransigence, allied to an indifference that makes any sane man gasp. Sadly South Africa is, it appears, headed the same way as our neighbours, perhaps the saddest thing is that the Western world's desire to be "nice" to Africa and the political issues associated with acting in accordance with the obvious realities; essentially being labelled a racist by the liberal thought-police, preclude any realistic and meaningful action being taken. The world's only answer is to watch and sing the song "The happy happy people..." or some such dirge as Africa cries out for real leadership, which may well entail tough action and honesty instead of liberal sing-songs about the wonders of Africa and the good news and a lot of huffing and politically-correct pontificating at any suggestion that the liberal approach is a failed ideology somewhat akin to the 60's dream of drug-fuelled peace and harmony that vanished in a hashish cloud in the 70's.
The sad truth is that Africa has serious problems, very serious problems, and until the world faces up to that fact and stops lowering the bar for Africa all that will emerge are countries that have standards so low that the only people able to perform under those standards will be limbo dancers.
It is becoming clear that South Africa is increasingly a corrupt country; there is hardly any politician that has not been tainted by suggestions or suspicions of corruption, or blatantly found guilty of corruption and worse, and let off or excused. Sadly, again the politically-correct and hugely misguided policies of Black Economic Empowerment and Affirmative Action, two bigger misnomers I am sure it would be hard to find, are going to cause huge problems for this country. I am of course, in the eyes of any liberals a neanderthal apologist for conservative values that are aimed at destroying the world under a flood of actions based on reality and common-sense. I plead guilty to all except the charge of being a neanderthal, and I must say that perhaps the phrase "common-sense" is one candidate as a competitor for a bigger misnomer than BEE and AA. Now where is my dope and hey, perhaps we'll have like less than 30,000 murders next year; cool man, Africa rocks....wha...aaagh you've killed me, but I'm like a cool liberal man; you can't do that!

I am a 32 year-old third generation Rhodesian/Zimbabwean still living in Zimbabwe, and so are my parents (ex-dairy farmers).
I have just read an article published in the weekly Financial Gazette and I quote :-
"The Z.R Police is currently holding 24,655 private firearms surrendered by members of the public. The firearms include pistols, revolvers, rifles and shotguns of various makes. The firearms were surrendered as far back as 1979. The reasons for surrender vary with individuals but most common reason is expiry of firearm certificates. Members of the public who wish to claim their weapons from the police custody should approach the police station where firearms were deposited with a valid certificate. Members of the public have until the 30th of April 2007 to get their firearms back after this offer is closed."
I believe all the weapons not clamed will become the property of the state and so I would like to know if anyone has any documentation relating to weapons they may have surrendered so we can try and rescue some of these weapons.

ROGUES GALLERY
A few weeks ago we received a deranged e-mail from somebody calling himself "Alex Tebbutt" attacking our movement from an extreme Leftist position. There was something about the phraseology of this e-mail, however, which reminded us very much of the style of writing of young Mr Arthur Kemp (the former close friend and supporter who, in spite of now trying to adopt an "off the edge" neo-Nazi image, has been revealed as actually doing the bidding of the ANC regime), so we therefore "chanced our arm" and wrote back addressing our reply to Mr Kemp - knowing that if we were mistaken we would soon be pulled up. Significantly, however, we have received absolutely no response to this reply!
Two other inadequates who have caused us problems in the past have also suffered severe reverses in fortune recently we're pleased to report. John "Porky" Hiddleston (the original nominal editor of S.A.Patriot, who suddenly disappeared from Durban in 1981 taking all of the magazine's funds with him!) was bizarrely nominated as a UUP candidate for the Belfast South constituency in the penultimate Northern Ireland Assembly elections (unsuccessfully we're pleased to add!). After this "Porky's" disreputable past was belatedly exposed in the Ulster press, and at the latest Assembly election's his name - surprise, surprise - appeared nowhere among the list of candidates!
More sickeningly, however, was the fact that Mark "Chi-Chi" Cotterill (the grudge-bearing malcontent who went out of his way to sabotage a White Rhino Club gathering in North Devon during 1993) was unbelievably elected as a councillor in Blackburn during 2006 for the tin-pot little-Englander "England First Party" - together with a part-Cameroonian colleague! The two of them proved completely out of their depth as councillors however, and did little for their electors. Now, less than a year later, comes news of a bust-up between "Chi-Chi" and the Cameroonian. "Chi-Chi" has resigned not only as councillor but also as "Chairman" of the EFP, and the Cameroonian is now joining the "Party for Darwen" (Darwen being a suburb of Blackburn) - evidently little England wasn't little enough for him, so he's now supporting autonomy for somewhere even smaller!
Let's hope therefore that this is the last we'll ever hear of any of these three pathetic trouble-making wretches!

April 2007 edition
The next few weeks will witness two very important sets of elections which will have great significance for the future of the West.
Firstly, of course, there is the forthcoming French Presidential election. We think it is fair to say that Jacques Chirac has proved to be a big disappointment for all those who believed he would stand up for Western civilisation when first elected. Not only has he done nothing to solve France's immigration problem, but more reprehensively he failed to give full support to the West's War against Terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan - presumably because he wished to appease France's estimated 5 million non-White population (most of whom being Muslim). His UMP successor, Nicolas Sarkozy, seems to be a far tougher and more reliable character however. Having said that we believe that by far the best candidate on offer is Phillippe de Villiers of the MPF, a man with an impeccable record for supporting the rights of the great European nation-states and Western solidarity. Alas, however, de Villiers's chances of success seem remote, but even so we would advocate a vote for him in the first ballot and a vote for Sarkozy in the second. Above all, however, we trust that the French electorate won't disgrace itself again by voting the Vichy-heir Jean-Marie le Pen into second place. Le Pen and his Front National party are of course total hypocrites. On one hand they claim to oppose further immigration and the Islamic influence in France, yet on the other hand they also opposed the West's War against (Islamic) terrorism! As if such hypocrisy wasn't bad enough, le Pen even once paid a friendly visit to the evil Islamic monster Saddam Hussein - such seems to be his hatred for his own Western civilisation!
Secondly there are the forthcoming UK local elections - most importantly those for the Scottish "Parliament". The apparent support for the separatist Scottish Nationalist Party (perhaps better referred to as the Scottish Ba'athist Party in view of their sickening opposition to the War against Terrorism in Iraq!) is worrying in the extreme. Ever since the official birth of the United Kingdom three hundred years ago the enemies of the British people have been trying to destroy the glorious nation. In 1922, alas, after decades of foreign-instigated terrorism in Ireland, they succeeded in the first part of their wretched aim, and now - having failed to destroy loyal Ulster by terror - they are turning their attention instead to Scotland. Make no bones about it, the SNP may not be as evil and violent as SF/IRA, but they are no less poisonous. It is therefore vitally important that the SNP are defeated at all costs. We like the manifesto of the Scottish Unionist Party very much, and would certainly advocate support for them on the "party lists". When it comes to the first-past-the-post constituency vote, however, where there is a real risk of an SNP candidate being elected, then we advise a vote for the pro-union party most likely to defeat them - even if this means holding your nose and voting Labour.

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC MARCH MEETING
The Springbok Club/ELC was most honoured to be able to welcome Mr. Michael Shrimpton, the famed barrister and strategic intelligence and counter-terrorism consultant, as guest speaker last month. Mr. Shrimpton, a member of the Royal Institute of International Affairs, spoke under "Chatham House rules", which means that alas the exact details of his speech cannot be quoted. The theme of his talk was "The Intelligence War against the British Empire from 1857 to 2007", and the information which he imparted proved to be both dramatic and eye-opening, and all present were full of praise for his most captivating and extremely well-researched address.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC EVENTS
On Friday 25th May the SC/ELC will be staging their traditional annual Empire Day buffet in central London, at which the guest of honour will be a former Assistant Commissioner of the Royal Hong Kong Police. Fuller details will be given in next month's SCN.
The Kent Branch of the SC/ELC aims to hold a summer braai during June, to which all members and supporters will be invited. Again fuller details will be given in future editions of the SCN.
In July the SC/ELC will be holding a Rhodes & Founders Day celebration buffet, at which it is hoped to welcome a prominent ex-Rhodesian with first-hand knowledge of the current situation in Zimbabwe under the ZANU-PF tyranny as guest of honour.

PATRIOTIC FORUM MEETINGS
During May the SC/ELC will be joining forces with the London Swinton Circle under the banner of the Patriotic Forum in order to stage two events commemorating highly significant anniversaries.
The first will be a meeting to celebrate the 300th Anniversary of the Act of Union, the details of which are as follows :-

Date : Tuesday 1st May 2007 (the exact 300th anniversary of the Act of Union coming into force)
Time : 18.45 hrs for 19.00 hrs
The Act of Union - the birth of the United Kingdom - is one of the most important dates in British history, though it has reprehensively been largely overlooked by the New Labour establishment. To mark this highly significant date the Patriotic Forum has therefore invited along four leading patriots and unionists from Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland who will give cameo speeches about what their respective constituent parts of the Union mean to them, and what they have contributed to the success story of the United Kingdom as a whole.
The second meeting will be to celebrate the 25th anniversary of victory in the Falklands War, and will be held on Wednesday 23rd May, where the guest speaker will be Mr. Peter Pepper of the Falkland Islands Association. Further details will be given in next month's SCN.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS
The London Swinton Circle was most honoured to be able to welcome Lady [Ann] Winterton MP as guest speaker at their latest meeting. Lady Winterton gave a highly entertaining and informative address in which she concentrated upon the overbearing effects of the "nanny state" and the financial implications of continuing membership of the EU. Although not all present agreed with everything which she said, everybody was even so in full agreement with the basic themes of her talk, particularly her assertions the Britain would be better off out of the EU.

FORTHCOMING NEW BRITAIN EVENTS
The New Britain party will be staging two highly significant events during May.
On Wednesday 9th May (so-called "Europe Day") New Britain will be organising a march down Whitehall stopping off to hand a letter to 10 Downing Street demanding a referendum as to whether the UK should leave the European Union, and pointing out that the auditors have refused to sign off the EU accounts for a number of years. The march will then go on to the European Union's UK office in Queen Anne's Gate to hand in a letter similar to the one handed in at Downing Street. The march assembles in Whitehall Place at 13.30 hrs and moves off down Whitehall at 14.00 hrs sharp.
On Tuesday 22nd May, with the approval of Lady Goldsmith, New Britain will be holding their first Goldsmith Lecture in memory of Sir James Goldsmith. This will take place at the Sir Ambrose Fleming Lecture Hall, Roberts Building, University College London, commencing at 19.00 hrs, and the speakers will be the Rt. Hon. Lord Tebbit CH and Professor Stephen Bush of Manchester University, with the meeting being chaired by Mr. Dennis Delderfield, the National Chairman of New Britain. GOOD NEWS FROM AUSTRALIA
Recently released figures from the 2002 Australian Census have shown that the Australian population was 19,000,000, and that only 285,000 (1.5%) of these were Muslim. Even in Lakemba, a Sydney constituency where a Muslim extremist is evidently planning to stand in the NSW state elections, the Muslim population is only 13% of the electorate. This puts a lie to the oft-quoted claim by multi-culturalists and defeatists that Australia is somehow becoming a multi-racial society with Muslims forming the majority in vast areas of all major cities. Australia is still an overwhelmingly White nation, and will always remain so - unless the multi-culturalists and defeatists succeed with their doom-mongering propaganda.

LATEST FALKLANDS NEWS
Brigadier Nick Davies, Commander of British Forces in the South Atlantic, has been quoted in the Argentinian publication "Clarin" as saying "I'm here to deter any sort of aggression. Our capacity here is sufficient to face a wide spectrum of possible military aggressions, and we have well prepared plans to immediately send reinforcement, if these were necessary". The article also quotes Governor Alan Huckle saying "the lessons of 1982 have been learnt, above all over the signs of danger which were misinterpreted in 1982". THE SOUTH AFRICAN SPCA - WHAT IS GOING ON?
Regular readers will undoubtedly recall that in April 2006 we re-circulated a petition protesting against the alleged fact that the South African National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund was refusing to make grants to the South African Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, and that certain branches of the South African SPCA were being threatened with closure as a result. We received this petition from a reliable source and re-circulated it in good faith, particularly as the claimed development tied-in completely with the general meltdown and collapse of South African society under the current ANC-regime.
The result of our re-circulation of this petition was dramatic in the extreme, for we were immediately contacted from several sources (including from the South African National Lottery Distribution Trust Fund themselves, quoting officials from the South African SPCA) who assured us that the petition was a "hoax", so, believing this to be true, we issued a retraction in a subsequent edition of the SCN.
Recently, however, some twelve months later, we received a very similar petition from a completely different source making much the same claims. Just what is going on here we therefore wonder? Is the South African SPCA receiving National Lottery grants or not? Are branches of the SPCA being threatened with closure or not? But if there is no truth in these claims then why are they continuing to be circulated? We would be very keen therefore to receive any further information about this most mystifying state of affairs.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?
No.101 : Mr. MIKE BENNETT of Durban
Mike Bennett was conceived in South Africa, but born in Canada. He moved to Durban during the late 1970s however, where he held a leading position in the computer department of a large multi-national company. He married his beautiful wife Allison around 1980, and the happy couple re-located to Canada shortly thereafter. Alas they couldn't settle and returned to Durban a couple of years later, but sadly divorced a year or so after. Allison is believed subsequently to have married a soccer referee, but alas nothing further is known about either of them. A number of old friends would be very keen to learn where they are now.

Your memory is as faulty as much else about you. Despite my telling you very pointedly (not suggesting) to stop e-mailing me on several occasions, you continued to blather on... just as you have done yet again here.
The only unfortunate thing about my e-mail was that it was caused by your waffling rubbish and lies.

WHEN IS A TERRORIST NOT A TERRORIST?
Sir,
Many important politicians and clerics ignored or justified Robert Mugabe's terrorist training in China, overlooked his devotion to communism, and befriended a man who is now guilty of the same crimes as Saddam Hussein.
Zimbabwe's Black population should now be 18 million. 4 million have emigrated, or escaped, 3 million are "missing", 11 million remain, including 1.3 million orphans. The economy has been destroyed, the health system is chaotic, non-resident pensions are devalued and virtually stolen, and semi-starvation is prevalent. Political killing and torture are widespread and bodies are bulldozed into large pits without traditional ceremony. Mugabe hangs onto power at all costs while his cronies make a lot of money from "round tripping" on Zimbabwe's currency exchange rate.
South Africa and the African bloc prevent this genocide from being discussed at the UN and Western nations put good relations with South Africa above any human rights considerations in Zimbabwe. Mugabe doesn't seem to merit Regime Change.
Do these politicians and clerics still champion this man, while condemning Saddam - or will they now admit to a serious lack of judgement?
Are they prepared to help the many Zimbabweans who are suffering because of their false judgement - or have they buried their mistake while Zimbabwe buries its victims?
The people who supported Mugabe so fervently should now, just as vigorously, give assistance to his victims. The Zimbabwe Stolen Pensions Petition would be a good place to start. This petition, with 1984 signatures, has already been delivered to the British government and a copy has been sent to The Queen. The petitioners are part of the Rhodesian Diaspora, scattered around the world, their pensions are cut off, probably stolen forever, unless their petition gets support from important people.
So, who are the terrorists? When is a terrorist not a terrorist?

SURE THEY'RE OLD BUT THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL
Sir,
The Federal Commonwealth Society takes part in an annual parade on the Saturday prior to Easter in the suburbs of Toronto, Canada. We do this every year and we will take pictures of the parade on post them on our web site.
This year, we will be carrying the flags of our members' nations and member societies. To represent our affiliation with the Springbok Club, we have decided to carry the previous South African flag - the one adopted in 1928 which has orange white and blue horizontal bars with the Union Jack and the two Boer Republics flags in the centre. We will not be carrying the present South African flag adopted in 1994. This will be carried along with the Society's flag (a Union Jack with the Maple Leaf and Southern Cross constellation in the centre), the Union Jack, the Canadian Red Ensign, Australian and New Zealand flags, Falkland Islands flag and pre-1776 American flag to represent our members in the USA (a Red Ensign with the 1606 Union Jack in the corner).

HEY MAN!
Sir,
Africa is a sad place of excuses and intransigence, allied to an indifference that makes any sane man gasp. Sadly South Africa is, it appears, headed the same way as our neighbours, perhaps the saddest thing is that the Western world's desire to be "nice" to Africa and the political issues associated with acting in accordance with the obvious realities; essentially being labelled a racist by the liberal thought-police, preclude any realistic and meaningful action being taken. The world's only answer is to watch and sing the song "The happy happy people..." or some such dirge as Africa cries out for real leadership, which may well entail tough action and honesty instead of liberal sing-songs about the wonders of Africa and the good news and a lot of huffing and politically-correct pontificating at any suggestion that the liberal approach is a failed ideology somewhat akin to the 60's dream of drug-fuelled peace and harmony that vanished in a hashish cloud in the 70's.
The sad truth is that Africa has serious problems, very serious problems, and until the world faces up to that fact and stops lowering the bar for Africa all that will emerge are countries that have standards so low that the only people able to perform under those standards will be limbo dancers.
It is becoming clear that South Africa is increasingly a corrupt country; there is hardly any politician that has not been tainted by suggestions or suspicions of corruption, or blatantly found guilty of corruption and worse, and let off or excused. Sadly, again the politically-correct and hugely misguided policies of Black Economic Empowerment and Affirmative Action, two bigger misnomers I am sure it would be hard to find, are going to cause huge problems for this country. I am of course, in the eyes of any liberals a neanderthal apologist for conservative values that are aimed at destroying the world under a flood of actions based on reality and common-sense. I plead guilty to all except the charge of being a neanderthal, and I must say that perhaps the phrase "common-sense" is one candidate as a competitor for a bigger misnomer than BEE and AA. Now where is my dope and hey, perhaps we'll have like less than 30,000 murders next year; cool man, Africa rocks....wha...aaagh you've killed me, but I'm like a cool liberal man; you can't do that!

GET YOUR GUN
Sir,
I am a 32 year-old third generation Rhodesian/Zimbabwean still living in Zimbabwe, and so are my parents (ex-dairy farmers).
I have just read an article published in the weekly Financial Gazette and I quote :-
"The Z.R Police is currently holding 24,655 private firearms surrendered by members of the public. The firearms include pistols, revolvers, rifles and shotguns of various makes. The firearms were surrendered as far back as 1979. The reasons for surrender vary with individuals but most common reason is expiry of firearm certificates. Members of the public who wish to claim their weapons from the police custody should approach the police station where firearms were deposited with a valid certificate. Members of the public have until the 30th of April 2007 to get their firearms back after this offer is closed."
I believe all the weapons not clamed will become the property of the state and so I would like to know if anyone has any documentation relating to weapons they may have surrendered so we can try and rescue some of these weapons.

ROGUES GALLERY
A few weeks ago we received a deranged e-mail from somebody calling himself "Alex Tebbutt" attacking our movement from an extreme Leftist position. There was something about the phraseology of this e-mail, however, which reminded us very much of the style of writing of young Mr Arthur Kemp (the former close friend and supporter who, in spite of now trying to adopt an "off the edge" neo-Nazi image, has been revealed as actually doing the bidding of the ANC regime), so we therefore "chanced our arm" and wrote back addressing our reply to Mr Kemp - knowing that if we were mistaken we would soon be pulled up. Significantly, however, we have received absolutely no response to this reply!
Two other inadequates who have caused us problems in the past have also suffered severe reverses in fortune recently we're pleased to report. John "Porky" Hiddleston (the original nominal editor of S.A.Patriot, who suddenly disappeared from Durban in 1981 taking all of the magazine's funds with him!) was bizarrely nominated as a UUP candidate for the Belfast South constituency in the penultimate Northern Ireland Assembly elections (unsuccessfully we're pleased to add!). After this "Porky's" disreputable past was belatedly exposed in the Ulster press, and at the latest Assembly election's his name - surprise, surprise - appeared nowhere among the list of candidates!
More sickeningly, however, was the fact that Mark "Chi-Chi" Cotterill (the grudge-bearing malcontent who went out of his way to sabotage a White Rhino Club gathering in North Devon during 1993) was unbelievably elected as a councillor in Blackburn during 2006 for the tin-pot little-Englander "England First Party" - together with a part-Cameroonian colleague! The two of them proved completely out of their depth as councillors however, and did little for their electors. Now, less than a year later, comes news of a bust-up between "Chi-Chi" and the Cameroonian. "Chi-Chi" has resigned not only as councillor but also as "Chairman" of the EFP, and the Cameroonian is now joining the "Party for Darwen" (Darwen being a suburb of Blackburn) - evidently little England wasn't little enough for him, so he's now supporting autonomy for somewhere even smaller!
Let's hope therefore that this is the last we'll ever hear of any of these three pathetic trouble-making wretches!
