June 2019 Edition.

SPRINGBOK CYBER NEWSLETTER

June 2019 edition

When the results of the 2019 EuroElections in the UK are analysed in depth, and when the votes for the Labour Party – who don’t know where they stand on Brexit – are discounted, the combined votes for all the pro-Brexit parties (Brexit Party, Conservative Party, UKIP and the Unionist parties in Northern Ireland) total 52%, whereas the combined votes for all the anti-Brexit parties (LibDems, Greens, ChangeUK and all the nationalist parties) total only 48%. In other words the result was almost exactly the same as at the 2016 Referendum. There is therefore absolutely no need for any “second referendum” as this has already taken place – and the “remoaners” have lost yet again!

We actually received a fair amount of criticism for the editorial in last month’s edition of the SCN, wherein we expressed doubts about the motivations of Mr. Nigel Farage and the foundation of his Brexit Party, and indeed a handful of subscribers requested to be unsubscribed as a result. We however stand by the comments which we made in last month’s editorial, and indeed it was interesting to note that none of the unsubscribers were prepared to argue their case in detail. Having said this, however, we must admit that Farage’s Brexit Party managed to inject more energy into the pro-Brexit campaign than perhaps UKIP could have obtained on its own, and that there were and are many good people within the Brexit Party who have contributed considerably to the broader pro-Brexit movement.

Since the EuroElections there have however been three significant developments in the United Kingdom. Firstly there has been the State Visit of President Donald J. Trump of the United States of America, which the vast majority of commentators have agreed was an outstanding success, and which confirmed that a mutually-beneficial trade deal between the US and the UK was highly likely to be enacted post-Brexit. Secondly of course there has been the final resignation of Theresa May as Prime Minister of the UK. Now is probably not a good time to condemn Theresa May too harshly. At core she is undoubtedly a good woman, bur alas through her stubbornness and over-reliance upon remote civil servants she proved to be a tragedy as Prime Minister. We can therefore only wish her contentment and a stress-free retirement. Finally and most significantly there has been the Peterborough by-election. It was initially predicted that the Brexit Party would win this seat by a wide margin, and that the Conservative Party would finish in an ignominious fifth place with less than 2000 votes. As it was, however, the Brexit Party failed to win this seat from the Labour Party, and the Conservative Party gained significant renewed support, and not only gained third place with 7243 votes, but also came within 3241 votes of winning the seat! The resurgence of support for the Conservative Party was undoubtedly caused by Theresa May’s resignation, and shows that the Brexit Party has no long-term future.

The predictions which we made in the editorial of the April 2019 Edition of the SCN therefore now seem to be rapidly coming to fruition. Mr. Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson seems to be highly likely to become the next British Prime Minister, and if he fails to pass a managed “No Deal” Brexit through Parliament will then call a General Election, which with his charisma and probable electoral pact – official or unofficial - with the deflated Brexit Party, will result in a comfortable Conservative majority, with sufficient support in the new Parliament to be able to force through a managed “No Deal” Brexit. Venit hora, ecce homo!

MESSAGE FROM THE SANWILD WILDLIFE SANCTUARY

We have recently received the following quite distressing message from the SanWild Wildlife Sanctuary. It reads as follows :-

“Dearest SanWild friends,

”This is the hardest thing I must do this morning, but I am at my wits end and I realise we need urgent help. Fund-raising has never been my forte and I have no idea how to do it properly. Maybe because I don't like asking for help...

”SanWild has run out of funds and I am stressed out totally on where we are going to get funds for our lions’ next meal, salaries for our CPU men, material to maintain fences, food for the animals in rehab, diesel, etc etc.

”I am on my knees today begging if someone can please help us, be it, with fund-raising ideas, donating a small amount, donating diesel or visiting our small tourist camp, anything will help.

”Words of encouragement will mean a lot to us at the moment. As much as we love our work and have a burning passion for what we do, unfortunately everything costs money to maintain and we really need help to do this.

”Apologies for being so morbid today. I usually always try to be very positive no matter how it goes, but things have just been a bit stressful at the moment. I know things will work out and I am trying to stay positive.

”My email address is lizel@sanwild.org if anyone wants to contact me and would like to offer help or would like to fund-raise for us.

”Lots of love

“Lizel (Trustee and daughter of the Late Louise Joubert)”

SPORTS BODIES MUST PROTECT CHILDREN IN THEIR CARE

Scotland has recently been rocked by revelations of a massive and long-running child sex abuse scandal involving the Celtic Boys’ Club, a feeder club to Celtic Football Club. Three youth coaches at the Celtic Boys’ Club, Jim McCafferty, Jim Torbett and Frank Cairney, have now been convicted and jailed for a number of disgusting indecent acts committed against minors playing for the club’s boys teams. Given the strong supporter-base which Celtic F.C. enjoys among Scotland’s Roman Catholic community, and the numerous cases of child sex abuse involving the Roman Catholic priesthood, perhaps these recent revelations should not be too surprising – but alas this has been only one of several cases of vile child sex abuse exposed within leading Soccer clubs throughout the United Kingdom during recent years.

One thing is significant about all these sickening revelations however, and that is that they all involved young boys, for as far as we can ascertain none have involved girls’ teams – in other words they have all been of a homosexual nature. This therefore provides yet more proof, if more proof is needed, that one form of sexual perversion leads inevitably to another. Against this background the decisions by various sporting governing bodies (and we are not only talking about Soccer ruling bodies here) to accept financial contributions from pro-homosexual lobbying groups in exchange for allowing propaganda promoting their deviancy to appear at their events is even more reprehensible. It is surely the primary duty of all sporting governing bodies to protect youngsters in their care from evil perverts such as McCafferty, Torbett and and Cairney, rather than pandering to those who would excuse their degeneracy.

In the past we have praised the likes of Margaret Court and Israel Folau who have taken strong moral stances against the pro-homosexual lobbying groups, and it has been most encouraging to note in this regard that several other prominent sportsmen and women, most notably Billy Vunipola, have been brave enough to support Israel Folau’s rights of freedom of speech and religious belief openly. We therefore call upon Rugby Australia to lift Israel Folau’s suspension immediately, and also call on all sporting authorities to ensure that effective steps be taken to protect all those under their care from sexual perverts and to end the pillorying of those such as Margaret Court and Billy Vunipola who have had the courage the speak out in favour of moral decency.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?

No.247 - Mr. “JOCK” COETZEE of Durban

Jock Coetzee (we never knew his real christian name as “Jock” was undoubtedly a nickname) lived in Chelsea Court on the Victoria Embankment in Durban. He was a keen supporter of the Conservative Party of South Africa and was a regular attendee at Patriotic Forum events staged in Durban during the late 1980s. He also once wrote a book which claimed to show how one could win at roulette by using a very complex mathematical equation! It would be very interesting to learn what happened to him and where he is now.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

BLOODY RIGHT

Sir,

Nobody should be prosecuted over Bloody Sunday. Terrorists have been let off for far worse atrocities committed far more recently. The Paras were doing what they were trained to do in the face of an anti-British mob.

There should be full amnesty for all our servicemen who served in Afghanistan, Northern Ireland, Iraq, Syria or anywhere else for anything they did in the course of duty. They answer to military discipline, not to lawyers, politicians, army-haters and do-gooders who've never been through anything like they have.

Yours etc.,

Mark Taylor, London, U.K.

RHODESIAN SUPPORT WORLDWIDE

Sir,

Thanks for the invitation to the celebration meeting commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of Ian Smith. Back in the 1970s when the attacks on Rhodesia were taking place (followed by South Africa) I worked very hard from Tasmania to inform all the truth about Rhodesia. I would love to be at the celebration meeting, but naturally distance does not permit. If the opportunity arises please send my greetings from Tasmania...

Yours etc.,

Reg A.Watson, Lindisfarne, Tasmania, Australia..

[ Mr. Watson’s greetings were indeed read out at the celebration meeting! ]

----------------------------

BLACK POWER

Sir,

At the moment we’re ducking and diving between power outages in South Africa. Three of two hours plus outages each day, for an indefinite period.

Yours etc.,

Johan Geelvink, Pretoria, Transvaal, South Africa

----------------------------

RUN OUT

Sir,

South Africa’s cricket team is going down the toilet – just like their country!

Yours etc.,

Craig Selvage, Sydney, NSW, Australia.

OBITUARIES

MICKY STEELE-BODGER

It was with great sadness that we learnt of the recent death of Michael Roland “Micky” Steele-Bodger. Born at Tamworth in 1925 and educated at Rugby School and at Gonville and Caius College Cambridge, Micky Steele-Bodger became one of the most dominant figures in the Rugby Football Union, and helped to maintain the amateur ethos and Corinthian spirit of the Rugby Union game which made it such a special sport even after the advent of professionalism.

During his playing days Micky Steele-Bodger played as flanker for Cambridge University, Harlequins and England, for whom he won nine caps, before a serious knee injury curtailed his playing career prematurely. He then threw his energies into coaching and Rugby administration. He served as a England selector for 15 years and was also at various times chairman of the Home Rugby Union Tours Committee (which supervises British Lions tours), the Rugby Football Union and the International Rugby Board, as well as being a member of the Sports Council.

Micky Steele-Bodger’s most significant achievements have however been to ensure the survival and increasing popularity of the invitation Barbarians Rugby Football Club with its special brand of free-flowing rugby, (which he played for and then served as committee member, Vice-President and as President for 40 years up until his death), and the creation of the famous Steele-Bodger’s XV which regularly played against Cambridge University in their warm-up game prior to the annual Varsity Match. Micky Steele-Bodger was also a habituĂ© of the East India Club in St.James’s Square, London, which he turned into an extension of Twickenham and where with drink in hand he would conduct most of his Rugby administration!

Perhaps one of his most praise-worthy achievements, however, was to ensure that Rugby contact with South Africa was maintained during the 1960s, 70s and 80s when extreme left-wing elements were calling for a sporting boycott against the country, and in particular he ensured that British Lions tours to South Africa were maintained during this period in the face of fierce opposition. Micky Steele-Bodger also clearly appreciated the importance that sport, particularly team sport with all its traditions, played in national life, and how it could maintain national morale and well-being during times of troubles and depression.

Micky Steele-Bodger was a great man and a great Briton, and it is to be hoped that similar able and like-minded men and women emerge to continue all the excellent work which he did for the good of his sport and his country. Our sincerest condolences are extended to his widow “Muff” and to their three children.

HARRY WILLIAM TUFF

It was with great shock and devastation that we recently learnt that Harry Tuff had died suddenly at the end of 2017, aged only 69. Foul play is not suspected, and it is believed that he died from a massive heart-attack. He had been a heavy smoker for all of his adult life.

Harry Tuff was born at Gravesend in 1948, being one of three children born into a renowned Gravesend family. He was educated at Kings School, Rochester, and at the University of London, where he gained a BSc in industrial chemistry. His first job was working at the Dounreay Nuclear Power Station in Caithness, but after a few years he moved back to his native Gravesend and worked as an industrial chemist for a number of paper and cement companies in north-west Kent, until his retirement in 2013.

He was a lifelong British patriot, and was particularly concerned about the growing number of predominantly non-White immigrants settling in Gravesend. As a result of these concerns he became active within a number of patriotic parties and organisations, most notably the National Party of the United Kingdom (see S.A.Patriot-in-Exile No.37), which many observers see as the ideological predecessor of today’s UKIP. His natural leadership talents and popularity (he had an infectious laugh and the ability to make everyone who he greeted feel as if they were the most important person in the world!) made him the obvious leader and main driving force of the NPUK in Gravesend and the north-west Kent area. As a result north-west Kent became one of the strongest areas for the NPUK in the entire country, when alas other regional leaders were found severely wanting, with the party declining and collapsing as a result. Harry’s political interests extended beyond those of the United Kingdom however, and he was a firm supporter of his kith and kin in both the Rhodesia and South Africa and their struggles to maintain civilised standards and their Western way of life. He was also an early subscriber to S.A.Patriot magazine – being subscriber No.266 in fact.

Harry Tuff didn’t marry until his mid30s, and then married a woman far older than himself, and as a result he sadly had no children. It proved to be a very happy and long-lasting marriage however. His wife, Eileen, was a prominent activist within the Gravesend Conservative Association, and in order not to interfere with her political position in any way Harry from then onwards confined all of his own political activities to the Conservative Party. In private conversation, however, it was clear that he was still as concerned as ever about the issues which had motivated him during the 1970s.

Outside politics Harry Tuff’s main interests were cricket and bridge. Although he never played cricket following his school days, he was an avid spectator and a Life Member of Kent CCC, and throughout the summer could regularly be found watching Kent at the Spitfire St.Lawrence Ground in Canterbury, or watching his local Gravesend CC at their Bat & Ball Ground. He was evidently a skilled and tactically astute bridge player, and it was actually through playing bridge that he first met Eileen.

Harry Tuff’s sudden and premature death has saddened all of his close friends and extended family members, but perhaps the most tragic factor has been the knowledge that he never really fulfilled the potential which his talents and abilities offered to the patriotic movement during the final decades of his life. Our sincerest condolences are extended to his widow Eileen and to other members of his extended family.
