December 2005 Edition.

SPRINGBOK CYBER NEWSLETTER

December 2005 edition

Ever since the handover of South Africa to ANC terrorist rule we have constantly encouraged all Whites to leave that beleaguered country as quickly as possible.

Mandela and Mbeki's blood-brother in Zimbabwe, Mugabe, has surely illustrated to all but the most myopic just what is in store for the Whites of South Africa if they do not get out soon. Although there was a temporary pause in ZANU-PF's genocide campaign against those Whites foolish enough to remain in Zimbabwe, the recent horrific murder of Dave Stewart shows that Mugabe's systematic campaign of terror has now resumed in earnest.

But it is not only in Zimbabwe where Black Africa is descending deeper and deeper into primeval chaos. Ethiopia and Kenya are only the latest examples of where incoming governments overthrowing previous tyrannical regimes were originally hailed as "democratic", only then to prove themselves to be just as despotic as their predecessors. Democracy, alas, is an alien concept to Black Africa, and only enlightened White leadership can save the continent from itself.

So why should ANC-ruled South Africa be any different? It is now 15 years since the de facto abdication of White rule in South Africa - approximately the same period of time that it took Mugabe to unleash the full force of his anti-White terrorism. Already South Africa is internationally recognised as being the crime capital of the world, and the murder campaign against White farmers is statistically even greater than in Zimbabwe. Even more frighteningly we have recently heard that the ANC-regime is planning even more devastating anti-White measures for 2006, which will involve even greater suffering and victimisation.

Our advice to all South African Whites is therefore exactly the same as it was during the early 1990s following de Klerk's surrender and sell-out. Get out of the disintegrating country as soon as possible, and by whichever means possible.

SPRINGBOK CLUB UDI DAY DINNER

Alas all did not go smoothly concerning this year's Springbok Club UDI Day Dinner. Far fewer people booked to attend than was hoped and anticipated, which meant that a smaller dining-area had to be utilised, which unfortunately did not prove to be fully satisfactory. Even more regrettably the closing remarks made by the Organiser were rudely interrupted by what can only be described as a drunken rant by one malcontent present. If the gentleman in question had any complaints to make (and we accept that arrangements were not as ideal as we had hoped) then he clearly should have raised these matters privately at the conclusion of the dinner, and NOT in full view of all guests during the proceedings themselves.

Be this as it may, the Springbok Club was highly honoured to be able to welcome Mr. Bob Fernandes as Guest of Honour for this year's event, who in his after-dinner talk gave a most informative overview of the work currently being done by AgricAfrica and the Valuation Consortium in spearheading the international court cases against the ZANU-PF government of Zimbabwe on behalf of the dispossessed commercial farmers. It is hoped that the Springbok Club will be able to work increasingly closely with these two concerns in the extremely important work which they are trying to achieve in the days ahead.

SPRINGBOK CLUB DAY OF THE VOW COMMEMORATIONS

Details of the Springbok Club's annual Day of the Vow commemorations are as follows :-

Date : Thursday 8th December 2005

Time : Assemble from 18.30 hrs onwards, main proceedings to commence at approximately 19.15 hrs.

Venue: The CLARENCE (the upstairs Function Room), 4 Dover Street, Mayfair, London W1 (just off Piccadilly opposite the Ritz Hotel - nearest underground station: Green Park)

Guest of Honour : Mr. BERNARD TERRY

Bernard Terry first went to Rhodesia during the 1960`s for a two week holiday - but didn't return to the UK until 1981! He was employed by the Rhodesian State Attorney, before being transferred to become head of the legal department with the Ministry of Water Development. He subsequently joined the BSAP with whom he served until 1981. Upon his return to the UK he worked in security until 1999, by which time he had also taken on a part-time job doing research for a website devoted to the Victoria Cross. He became a member of The Victoria Cross Society as one of their earliest members. He has written two published articles about the VC, one of which being about Randolph Cosby Nesbitt, a South African who was awarded the VC while serving with the BSAP. He was chairman of the Three Counties Branch (Sussex, Surrey and Hampshire) of Rhodesians Worldwide for over 15 years. In his talk he will relay something of his expert knowledge regarding the Victoria Cross, particularly concerning those Southern Africans whose bravery resulted in being awarded this decoration.

Buffet-snacks will be provided at this function, and admission charges will be £6.00 per head for Life, Honorary and Full Members of the Springbok Club, £8.00 per head for Associate Members, and £10.00 per head for non-members. Although payment may be made on the night, it would help to gauge numbers if all those planning to attend could inform us in advance. This can be done either by 'phoning: 07711-188430.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB EVENTS

The Springbok Club's 2006 AGM will be held towards the end of January. Fuller details will be given in next month's SCN.

During February 2006 the Springbok Club is anticipating welcoming a guest speaker who has recently visited the Gaza Strip in order to express solidarity with the defiant Israeli settlers there, who will tell something about his experiences there and the Israeli settlers' struggle in general.

------------------------------------------------------------------

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS

Unfortunately the Northern Ireland Branch's planned joint UDI Day/Day of the Vow meeting in December has had to be cancelled, but it is hoped that a replacement event to honour the struggles of both the Rhodesian and South African peoples will be held sometime early during 2006. For fuller details please e-mail: nispringbokclub@hotmail.com

The London Branch of the Springbok Club is planning to hold a meeting early next year when one of their leading members will be giving a talk on early Anglo-Saxon history. More details will be given in a future SCN.

Both the Kent and Chilterns branches of the Springbok Club are hoping to stage get-togethers in the new year. It is anticipated that a well-known personality from the British patriotic movement will be present at the Chilterns Branch gathering.

------------------------------------------------------------------

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS

The London Swinton Circle hosted two important meetings during recent weeks, the first of which was addressed by Mr. Peter Robinson MP (the Deputy Leader of the DUP and MP for East Belfast), and the second by Mr. Philip Davies MP (the Conservative MP for Shipley). Both spoke eloquently, and gave highly informative and indeed encouraging speeches regarding the struggles for self-determination by loyal British people on their respective sides of the Irish Sea.

In January 2006 the London Swinton Circle will be addressed by Dr. Alan Sked, the Senior Lecturer in International History at the London School of Economics. Later during 2006 it is anticipated that a prominent Gibraltarian visitor to London will address the LSC.

The London Swinton Circle supportive publication "Tough Talking from the Right" will be staging a special Winter Meeting and Buffet on Thursday 12th January 2006 (commencing at 19.00 hrs) in the City of London, where the guest speaker will be Mr. Nigel Farage MEP (the Co-President of the Independence and Democracy Group in the European Parliament). Tickets are priced £17.50 per head (inclusive of buffet and glass of wine) which should be made payable to "Allan Robertson" and sent to: TTFTR, P.O.Box 29208, London SE8 3ZU.

NEWS FROM THE CHIPANGALI WILDLIFE TRUST

Vivian Wilson of the Chipangali Wildlife Trust writes as follows :-

"I have just completed our latest News letter (September 2005) which gives a detailed update of all the projects that the Carnivore Research Institute is involved in. At the moment we are grounded once again due to the complete lack of fuel in Zimbabwe. I have not been able to purchase fuel at a garage at the controlled price for over 6 months now and I refuse to be intimidated and pay the black market rate of $100,000.00 a litre. At the official Bank exchange rate (Auction rate) of Z$26,000.00 to US$1.00 that means that 1 gallon of diesel costs US$19.00. Nor will I support other illegal transactions, which leaves me in an unenviable position.

"In spite of the above I can assure everyone that I do not intend stopping my field work and will continue regardless!"

To find out more about the work of the Chipangali Wildlife Trust and the Carnivore Research Institute, or to receive a copy of their newsletter, please contact Vivian Wilson on e-mail: duiker@ecoweb.co.zw, or visit their web-site at: www.chipangaliresearch.org.zw

CAN YOU HELP ?

Luis Amaral writes as follows :-

"My father, named Antonio Cardoso do Amaral (NECO AMARAL), was born in 1938 close to Tondela. In 1960 he arrived in Moçambique (region of Nampula and Porto Amèlia) with the soldiers of B.L.5. He was an assistant driver. In 1962 he was in Posto Administrativo de NANGADE (CELPOR). In 1964 he was Guard in the team CHAI - during this time he left the army, working as a bus driver (for a company named BOA VIAGEM from Nampula). In 1967 he was in Ribaué, and travelled much in the north of Moçambique. In 1971 he left Moçambique for Portugal because of a "problem" he had with a passenger who died in his bus. My father passed away in 1994, after emigrating to France in 1972. My brothers and I know he had a daughter (Cristina ?) born between 1964 and 1968 in the north of Moçambique. We know her mother was English, born in England. We want to contact our sister and we are asking for help from anyone who was in Moçambique during this period.

"The following persons might be able to help: 1) People who may know of English families in northern Moçambique in the 1960’s and 1970’s. 2) People who lived in the above cities and towns. 3) People who have families in this area (northern Moçambique, Cabo Delgado, Nampula, Niassa).

"I am certain with help we can contact our sister again.

"Many thanks. Luis Amaral"

CALLING ALL RHODESIANS

November marked the 40th Anniversary of U.D.I. and to mark this important event I want to hear from you. Where were you on that November day? What were your thoughts about U.D.I and the lead up to the momentous announcement, either for or against? If you weren't in Rhodesia at the time let me know what brought you to the country after U.D.I.

I am a Rhodesian born and breed and am currently engaged on writing a PhD for the University of London on Rhodesia's road to Independence, and I want to hear from you all. By studying the histories, government papers and biographies of the leading figures of the time I can piece together what was in the mind of the leaders on both side, but what I want to know was what was in the mind of the ordinary Rhodesian. This is your chance to have your say. Any and all information is most welcome as my thesis will only be as good as the sources I have to work from.

If you want to send me your thoughts please do so to Julian_Francis123@hotmail.com. I would be happy to supply a 'phone number for anyone who wants to talk directly to me and I will be happy to meet face to face with anyone in the UK. I will also consider travelling to any part of
the world to hear your thoughts.

I will be happy to provide more information on my project to anyone who is interested, and to answer any questions you may have.

Thanks for your time and I hope to hear from you soon.

Yours sincerely,

Julian Francis

"BETRAYAL IN HIGH PLACES" by James Mackay.

271 pages, some illustrations. Soft-back £5.00 including p.& p. (r.r.p. £10.00)

The compelling story of what really happened in a defeated Japan following the end of World War II. Merchant seaman James Mackay, whilst travelling in the east, started to hear stories of massacres and other atrocities committed by Japanese forces, not just against enemy troops, but against innocent civilian populations. His subsequent investigations revealed reluctance amongst Allied governments to discuss these incidents that seemed to amount almost to a cover-up. Why would the Allies want to overlook the crimes of a former enemy, especially when the leadership of another former enemy was being liquidated at Nuremburg? Using his own research, as well as material prepared by Australian Army war crimes investigator Capt. J.G. Goodwin, Mackay exposes the cover-up and names the guilty. Not only were the Japanese keen to sweep the past under the carpet, but the US government of the time also had its own reasons for preserving the political and industrial elite in Japan. A provocative book, which calls into question the morality of US policy towards Japan after WWII.

Payment can be made by credit or debit card. To order on line, log onto www.paypal.com and enter postmaster@gcartwright.demon.co.uk as payment destination.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?

No.85 : Mr. DAVID HABBITTS of Benoni.

David Habbitts was a British patriot who emigrated to South Africa during the 1960s. He became active with the Transvaal chapter of Ivor Benson's National Forum and with a number of other patriotic organisations, before becoming one of the earliest supporters of S.A.Patriot. Alas contact with him ceased during the early 1980s, and we are uncertain whether he returned to the UK at that time or not. If anyone could inform us what eventually happened to him we would be most grateful.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

SEX AND THE CITIES

Sir,

One of the main root causes of kaffir poverty is that each Black woman, on average bears no less than 12 children in her lifetime. Their progenitors couldn't care less who supports these poor little devils. Hundreds of them infest the South African city centres. They are all boys. Girls cannot survive.

Yours etc.,

Richard Deane, Cape Town.

ROGUES GALLERY

A short while ago we were contacted by Mrs. Deirdre Fields from the United States, the daughter of Stephanie van Heerden from Johannesburg and the niece of our very close (though now sadly deceased) friend and supporter from Durban, Tom Hawkins.

Tom Hawkins fought with distinction in the SADF during World War II, and was extremely proud of his British ancestry and the part which he played in the struggle against the scourge of Nazism. His patriotism didn't end with WWII however, for he was subsequently very active in the patriotic movement in Durban, standing as a Conservative Party candidate in the 1988 Durban municipal elections. His sister Stephanie van Heerden was no less of a South African patriot, and stood as an HNP parliamentary candidate on a number of occasions.

Needless to say, we were initially extremely delighted to be able to make contact with Deirdre Fields again, but alas in spite of sending her a quite long and detailed reply we never received the decency of any further direct response from her. Instead, however, she started to inundate us with a stream of unsolicited e-mail circulars, most of which were of a quite unsavoury paranoid nature, with some being of a completely offensive anti-Semitic (and indeed neo-Nazi) composition. As a result we asked Mrs. Fields on several occasions to cease sending us all this unsolicited poison, but alas it still keeps on arriving.

We don't know whether her mother is still alive or not, but undoubtedly her Uncle Tom Hawkins would now be turning in his grave if he were to know the kind of sickening anti-Semitic material which his niece is now circulating. We would certainly advise everybody to be extremely wary of any dealings with this young woman therefore.

OBITUARY

DENIS LINDSAY

It was with much sadness that we recently learnt of the death of Denis Lindsay at the age of only 66 after a long battle against cancer. Denis Lindsay was undoubtedly the greatest wicket-keeper/batsman of his generation, and played 19 times for South Africa. He represented Northern Transvaal (formerly North-Eastern Transvaal) at provincial level, with the high-spot of his career being during the 1966/67 series against Australia when he scored 606 runs at an average of 86.57. It was not for his cricketing prowess alone that Denis Lindsay should be remembered however, for during the 1970s he was prepared to stand up and be counted when alas so many of his team-mates tried to appease the international leftist anti-South African trouble-makers when they attempted to isolate South African sport. On a number of occasions he gave television interviews in which he was uncompromising in his statements that South Africa had every right to select their teams and to decide their policies in whichever way they chose. Unfortunately in later life Denis Lindsay decided to remain in ANC-ruled South Africa and appeared prepared to kow-tow to the new sporting authorities - though perhaps in view of subsequent revelations his struggle against cancer gave him very little alternative. We chose to remember the brave and brilliant Denis Lindsay of the 1960s and 1970s however.

SPRINGBOK CYBER NEWSLETTER

November 2005 edition

This cyber-newsletter has often warned in the past about the danger posed to the entire West by expansionist Islam. The past few weeks, however, have witnessed two most dramatic examples of just what a dire threat Islam poses to us all.

Firstly the newly-installed fundamentalist Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called for the complete destruction of the State of Israel, thus confirming without a shadow of doubt that Islamic Iran is still a fully paid-up member of the Axis of Evil. This was followed by France erupting in an orgy of seemingly co-ordinated riots - and make no bones about it, the rioters were not merely "disaffected youths" as certain sections of the media tried to suggest, they were exclusively third-world immigrants, almost entirely Islamic.

In expressing outrage at Ahmadinejad's hysterical call for the destruction of Israel Tony Blair stated that it was without precedent for a world leader to advocate the complete annihilation of another state. One only needs a cursory knowledge of 20th century history to realise that this isn't true however. This after all is exactly what the Nazis did to one European country after another - but more significantly this is what Blair's predecessors as Labour leader, Wilson and Callaghan, advocated regarding Rhodesia and South-West Africa, not to mention South Africa itself if we accept that today's ANC-ruled hell-hole is a completely different entity to the true South African nation which we knew and loved.

Be this as it may, Blair is to be congratulated upon condemning Ahmadinejad's evil outburst in the strongest possible terms. There are those of us who will never forget that the State of Israel was one of South Africa's most reliable international friends during the days of civilised rule. Israel co-operated closely with South Africa in the fields of military expertise, security and trade, and it is probably true to say that without such co-operation the country would have found it very difficult to survive. But there is another more fundamental reason why Israel and White South Africa had so much in common, and that is because both nations recognised the importance of ethnicity in their respective identities. Bearing this in mind it is therefore not surprising that following the fall of White South Africa the forces of international egalitarianism should now regard the State of Israel as their next target, and in this they find themselves in common cause with the Mohammedan religion which seeks to proselytize everyone regardless of their ethnic identity. Just as Israel supported South Africa during its hour of need, so now must we support Israel when threatened by the likes of Ahmadinejad.

But it is the anarchy in France which highlights the Islamic threat to the very heart of European civilisation. The French only have themselves to blame in this respect however. Firstly, in their "revolutionary zeal" they allowed millions of third-world (mainly Islamic) interlopers to enter their shores in a spirit of "Liberty, Fraternity, Equality". Secondly the Chirac Government stupidly believed that they could appease international Islamic terrorism by not supporting the West's War against Terrorism in Iraq. France is now paying a very heavy price for these two grave mistakes.

The West must now take decisive action on both these two fronts. With Western troops stationed in both Afghanistan and Iraq it should be relatively easy to conduct a pincer movement to occupy Iran and thereby to eliminate their evil regime and the nuclear threat which it possesses. Likewise the French must grasp the nettle and take swift action to start repatriating "the enemy within".

SPRINGBOK CLUB'S GIBRALTAR TRIP

A small delegation of Springbok Club and the London Swinton Circle members visited Gibraltar last month in order to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.

A similar delegation visited Gibraltar last year in order to help celebrate the 300th anniversary of Gibraltar becoming British, and good and fruitful contacts were made with the Gibraltar Heritage Trust, the Gibraltar Self-Determination Group and the Gibraltar Conservative Association.

This year's events were co-ordinated by the Gibraltar Heritage Trust, and begun with a wreath-laying ceremony at the Trafalgar Cemetery at mid-day on Trafalgar Day itself. Wreaths were laid on the grave of Capt. Thomas Norman by Alan Harvey representing the Springbok Club and on the grave of Lieut. William Forster by Allan Robertson representing the London Swinton Circle. The inscription on the wreath laid on the grave of Capt. Thomas Norman read as follows: "To the immortal memory of all the brave Trafalgar heroes from your grateful Empire heirs of the Springbok Club". Short speeches were made by both wreath-layers to the gathered crowd, and Robin Willow of the London Swinton Circle then sung the Gibraltar national anthem.

During the evening of Trafalgar Day members of the delegation were invited to partake in celebrations at Parson's Lodge Battery, where, after a riveting talk on the history of the build-up to the Battle of Trafalgar by Denis King, they were able to witness a spectacular Beating Retreat ceremony performed by the band of the Royal Gibraltar Regiment on the Rosia Bay parade ground below. This was followed by a most sumptuous Bicentenary Dinner organised by the Gibraltar Heritage Trust at Parson's Lodge itself, at which Robin Willow again sung the Gibraltar national anthem and other numbers.

The following day members of the delegation joined a most enjoyable coach trip staged by the Gibraltar Heritage Trust to Cape Trafalgar, during which expert commentaries were given by Joe Desoisa and Denis King. En route the party visited the Spanish Naval Museum and the Parthenon at San Fernando, before making a moving visit to the tip of Cape Trafalgar.

On Monday 24th October a party of members from the Friends of Gibraltar Heritage Society arrived on the Rock for a week's visit under the leadership of Michael Brufal (the 9th Marques de Lendinez), and the two groups met up at a introductory meeting at the Rock Hotel. After uplifting welcoming speeches by Joe Ballantine and Dave Eveson of the GHT the party were then treated to a short musical performance by Robin Willow who again sung the Gibraltar national anthem and other numbers, before Richard Garcia gave a most enthralling talk entitled: "The development of regular maritime links between Gibraltar and Great Britain in the aftermath of the Battle of Trafalgar".

The following day saw a visit of the Convent (the Governor's residence) being undertaken by members of both groups. After a most eloquent welcome given by Lady Richards, the Governor's wife, the party were treated to a highly informative conducted tour of the Convent, its gardens and the King's Chapel, again expertly conducted by Denis King.

Alas the Springbok Club/London Swinton Circle delegation had to leave Gibraltar at this stage, although the Friends of Gibraltar Heritage Society visit carried on with more most interesting events until the following Monday. All members of the delegation were most inspired by their visit however, and full of praise for the Gibraltar Heritage Trust for the superb itinerary which they had arranged. Their love of and support for Gibraltar rose even greater as a result of the visit, and all vowed that they would return.

SPRINGBOK CLUB'S TRIP TO THE LEWES BONFIRE CELEBRATIONS

A large party of Springbok Club members and supporters made a trip to the Lewes Bonfire celebrations earlier this month, which of course had the added significance of marking the 400th anniversary of the Discovery of the Gunpowder Plot this year.

For most of the evening most of the party followed the Cliffe Bonfire Society, who were to be congratulated upon marking the double centenary by parading a splendid new banner commemorating the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. As well as burning the traditional effigies of the terrorist Guy Fawkes and the instigator Pope Paul V, the Cliffe B.S. also burnt an effigy of Home Secretary Charles Clarke this year.

It was the bonfire of the South Street Bonfire Society which was attended however, which proved to be a most enjoyable display, with an excellent tableau illustrating the Gunpowder Plot Conspiracy being exploded, along with a superb display of fireworks.

Celebrations continued the following day, when several of the party members explored the historic village of Alfreston, before paying a visit to the Ram Inn in the nearby village of Firle.

ZIMBABWE CONSERVATION TASK FORCE REPORT

Following our last "Good News" report about the abundance of water at Main Camp in Hwange National Park, we have just discovered that the situation in Sinamatella is very different.

We are being inundated with desperate appeals for help because there is NO water in Sinamatella. We are informed that National Parks has run out of diesel to run the pumps and all the water holes have been reduced to pools of mud.

People who have just returned from Sinamatella have reported seeing about 200 zebra and a number of antelope standing around a dry water hole, staring into it as if willing the water to appear. The animals look extremely forlorn, thirsty and dehydrated. They know there is no water anywhere else in the vicinity and in their dehydrated state, they don't have the energy to walk any great distance in search of water, so they wait. There is no doubt that they will all die of thirst if something is not done urgently.

Fuel is very scarce in Zimbabwe but we have managed to find some. The problem now is that we have to pay for it. National Parks have no funds, either to buy fuel for the pumps or to pay their employees' wages. We were told this morning that the employees in Sinamatella have all absconded because they haven't been paid.

In order to get the situation under control, we need at least 5,000 litres of diesel. We have found the diesel and we are now appealing to anyone who can help us pay for it. It costs US$ 1.00 or ZW$ 55,000.00 per litre so we are attempting to raise US$ 5,000 or ZW$ 275,000,000.00.

If anybody is in a position to help, either with money or with diesel, then please contact the ZCTF urgently at galorand@mweb.co.zw.

MANDELA'S TERRORISM ADMITTED

We have recently been sent the following most interesting article from of all newspapers The Guardian, which inter alia acknowledges Mandela's terrorist crimes. It was written by Adam Nicholson and appeared in The Guardian of August 24th. Although we of course cannot agree with every word in this article, it still makes very informative reading. It reads as follows :-

"No one, I think, would put the attempt to liberate the Newchurch guinea pigs on a par with the anti-apartheid campaign in South Africa. A few thousand - or even a few tens of thousands - of furry laboratory animals is not on the same scale as an entire repressed nation. But perhaps the two struggles are not as far apart as you think. The Hall family's decision to close down their guinea-pigs-for-laboratories enterprise, and return to more traditional farming, is a result of terrorism. The family, and almost everyone they know, have been the target of sabotage, bomb hoaxes, hate mail, a paedophile smear campaign, malicious phone calls and arson attacks. Most appallingly, the body of Gladys Hammond,
a Hall family relative, was dug up and her bones kidnapped. Electricity pylons have been blown up. There have been demos outside the farm every
Sunday and Wednesday for the past five years.

"All of these are clearly forms of terror, delivered by people who have thought, and probably rightly, that their campaign for the better treatment of the guinea pigs would not get anywhere if they used more polite, or less violent methods. The science and government establishments have been set against them and, to stay true to their ideals, they have had no alternative.

"We all hate terrorists, but as a side-light on this nasty and bitter corner of modern life, it is interesting to read what Nelson Mandela, at his trial for violence and sabotage in October 1963, had to say about those crimes. This was the trial at which he was convicted and sent to Robben Island for life. He admitted quite freely that he was guilty of what he was accused of. 'I do not deny that I planned sabotage,' he told the court. 'I did not plan it in a spirit of recklessness, nor because I have any love of violence. I planned it as a result of a calm and sober assessment of the political situation. Without violence there would be no way open to the African people to succeed in their struggle.'

"As a small armed wing of the ANC, Mandela had formed Umkhonto we Sizwe, meaning Spear of the Nation, because without such a channel, any violence would have been chaotic and far more destructive. The leaders of the ANC felt they had no other option. Mandela quoted Chief Lutuli, who had led the ANC in the 1950s: 'Who will deny that 30 years of my life have been spent knocking in vain, patiently, moderately and modestly at a closed and barred door? What have been the fruits of moderation? The past 30 years have seen the greatest number of laws restricting our rights and progress, until today we have reached a stage where we have almost no rights at all.'

"It is largely forgotten now but Mandela received guerrilla training in Algeria. The notes he made from the lectures he attended there were produced in court. He studied Clausewitz, Mao Zedong and Che Guevara. He prepared himself, quite cold-headedly, as he told the court, for "guerrilla warfare. I wanted to be able to stand and fight with my people to share the hazards of war with them." It never came to that because he was caught and imprisoned before he could take up arms. The sabotage of government buildings and electricity pylons and setting up the training regimes for recruits was all he was responsible for.

"There is, in this comparison, a problem of scale and, to be honest, of seriousness, but there is not a deep or very real distinction in principle. Mandela's term for his control of Umkhonto we Sizwe was 'properly controlled violence'. Seen simply in tactical and strategic terms, that phrase would be perfectly appropriate for the things that animal rights activists have been doing to the Halls, their friends, families, employees and neighbours. Digging up the body of Gladys Hammond - deeply shocking as it is - is nevertheless a very precisely calibrated act of terror. Not in moral but in these tactical terms, you could see it as a form of 'properly controlled violence'."

CALLING ALL RHODESIANS

This November will mark the 40th Anniversary of U.D.I. and to mark this important event I want to hear from you.

"OF RICE AND MEN", by Jimmy Walker

111 pages. Illustrated. With excellent cartoons by Fusilier Norman Lambert, produced whilst in captivity. Soft-back £5.00 (cover price £10.00)

An irreverent, left of centre, look at life as a POW by Jimmy Walker, who was captured by the Japanese following the fall of Singapore in 1942. Jimmy takes us through incarceration at the notorious Changi jail, forced labour on the railroad, and deportation to Japan, where the Japanese exploited the mining skills of the boys from Northumberland. Norman Lambert’s sketches are both amusing and frightening at the same time. Through the bitterness and resentment, and physical trauma of captivity shines the humour and the indomitable spirit of the British soldier. An enjoyable and educational read, with a surprise ending.

Prices include p+p. Payment can be made by credit or debit card. To order on line, log on to www.paypal.com and enter postmaster@gcartwright.demon.co.uk as payment destination.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?

Joey Deacon was one of the earliest supporters of the White Rhino Club (the predecessor of today's Springbok Club) when we re-centred operations in the UK during the early 1990s. Alas little has been seen or heard of him for several years now, and recently correspondence has been returned to us as he's evidently changed address. We would therefore be very keen to learn where he can now be contacted.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

SCRUFFY SMITH II

Sir,

"Scruffy Smith" is quite clearly an utter shower and should be forgotten.

Yours etc.,

Robert Lee Shipley, Gillingham, Kent, U.K.

GAZA SLIP

Sir,

There was no conceivable defence manpower basis for evicting the Jewish residents of Elei Sinai. It was purely political, just because it lay on the "wrong" side of the 1949 to 1967 line.

Sharon has gambled that withdrawal will put him in good stead with the State Dept. and Foreign Office, but of course there will only be demands for more concessions.

I am a member of Likud and if I had been an MK I would have voted against the expulsion. Sharon is by no means a consistent conservative and has had an erratic political career. I fear that he sees himself as Israel's De Gaulle, with Gaza as his Algerian pullout.

Nonetheless, we have to try and limit further damage. I am somewhat cheered to be reassured that Maale Adumim will be strengthened and linked by further building to Eastern Jerusalem. This will have the advantage of making it impossible for the Arabs to divide the Eternal City again-as was the case between 1949 and 1967.

"No surrender" and "Am Yisrael chai!"

Yours etc.,

Simon McIlwaine, Croydon, London, U.K.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

CAREFREE

Sir,

Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001? Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?

And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was "desecrated" when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet? Well, I don't ...... I don't care at all.

I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.

I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia.

I'll care when Abu Musab al-Zarqawi tells the world he is sorry for hacking-off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling, slashed throat.

I'll care when the cowardly so-called "insurgents" in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.

I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave Marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank that I don't care.

When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed "special" food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being "mishandled," you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts that I don't care.

Yours etc.,

Pam Foster, Atlanta, Georgia, USA

SPRINGBOK CYBER NEWSLETTER

October 2005 edition

The proposals contained in the new UK Terrorism Act are of course most welcomed. At a time when Britain - and indeed the whole of the West - faces the greatest threat from expansionist Islam since the Middle Ages the response to it must be ruthless, and no quarter can be given to any who plan, enact, advocate or glorify acts of terrorism. If anything many of the proposals in this new Act do not go far enough - though to be realistic nothing more could really be expected from a Labour government in hock to its own sickly appeasing left-wing.

One very strange and unexpected outcome has resulted from the opposition of the usual leftist elements to this Act however. Both the unspeakable Ken Livingston and Shami Chakrabarti (the elfish spokeswoman for the mischief-making "Liberty" outfit) have spoken about the so-called "Mandela Test" - by which they will judge the legislation by whether it would effect those who praised the South African terrorist leader "Nelson" Mandela or not. By so doing these trouble-makers have actually scored a spectacular own goal, for they have reminded - or perhaps informed - everyone about just what an evil terrorist Mandela actually was.

It has for long mystified us why so many people seem to be so unaware of Mandela's terrorist past (he was convicted of terrorist offences in 1963 after being caught red-handed with enough explosives to blow-up half of Johannesburg, and sentenced to life imprisonment) when he was obscenely imposed upon South Africa as "president" in 1994. These same people seem only too willing to condemn Mandela's terrorist blood-brother Mugabe, but for the life of us we can't understand what the difference is between them, for their histories confirm that they are like two peas out of the same pod.

A terrorist is a terrorist is a terrorist. Adams, McGuinness, Saddam Hussein, Osama bin Laden, Mandela, Mugabe (and we deliberately choose two White, two Brown and two Black to show that colour and race simply don't enter into it), their terrorist crimes are all the same. They all deserved to be executed for their evil acts of terrorism against innocent civilians, and the world would undoubtedly now be a far better place if this had happened to them all years ago.

We hope that the proposed new anti-terrorist legislation will be enacted in the strongest form advocated - but hope even more so that the unintentional faux pas's of Livingston and Chakrabarti will alert as many people as possible to the true evil nature of the terrorist Mandela.

SPRINGBOK CLUB'S SEPTEMBER MEETING

In September the Springbok Club welcomed Mr. Michael Brufal de Melgarejo, the 9th Marques de Lendinez, as guest speaker. The Marquis de Lendinez, who was born in Gibraltar and has been an energetic advocate of the Gibraltarian cause all his life (now being a Director of the "Friends of Gibraltar Heritage Society") gave an eloquent and most enlightening speech about the recent history of the Rock, and how defiant and imaginative pressure from the Government and people of Gibraltar, and by their masses of supporters in the UK, had stymied plans by the Blair government to sell-out the Rock by agreeing to "share sovereignty" with Spain. Of more specific interest, he also told the history of how Gibraltar had been twinned with the town of Goole in Yorkshire, and how this had recently been confirmed in spite of sinister attempts by certain elements in the Foreign Office to deny it.

This proved to be a particularly successful meeting for the Springbok Club, with several new members joining as a result.

------------------------------------------------------------------

SPRINGBOK CLUB'S GIBRALTAR TRIP

A small delegation from the Springbok Club will be visiting Gibraltar towards the end of October in order to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. Several events are being organised in conjunction with the Gibraltar Heritage Trust, including a wreath-laying ceremony at the Trafalgar Cemetery on Friday 21st October, at which wreaths will be laid on the graves of the two sailors who fought at Trafalgar and who died of their wounds who are buried there - one on behalf of the Springbok Club and the other on behalf of the London Swinton Circle.

A full report of this trip and the activities attended will be included in next month's, SCN.

------------------------------------------------------------------

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB EVENTS

On November 5th a party of Springbok Club members will be attending the annual Lewes Bonfire Festivities, which this year, being the 400th anniversary of the Discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, will have even greater significance than ever. Again full details will be reported in next month's SCN.

On Monday 21st November the Springbok Club will be staging their annual UDI Day Dinner in central London, when the Guest of Honour will be a most interesting personality who is currently closely involved with the international court cases being conducted on behalf of the dispossessed commercial farmers of Zimbabwe. Tickets for this event (which will include a three-course meal plus coffee) are priced at £20.00 for full members of the Springbok Club, £24.00 for Associate Members and £28.00 for non-members. All cheques should be made payable to "The Springbok Club" and sent to: The Springbok Club, BCM SAPAT, London WC1N 3XX, UK - or alternatively 'phone: 07711-188430 to make a booking.

The Springbok Club's annual Day of the Vow commemorations have provisionally been set for Thursday 8th December 2005. Further details will be given in next month's SCN.

------------------------------------------------------------------

SPRINGBOK CLUB NEWS

Alas Dave Williams's failing health has meant that the Branch Development Department has been very inactive for the past few months. It is hoped, however, that a replacement Branch Development Officer will be appointed before the end of the year.

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS

MESSAGE FROM THE AFRICAN WILDLIFE FOUNDATION

For more than 40 years, the African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) has focused exclusively on the continent of Africa. Through these years AWF has played a major role in ensuring the continued existence of some of Africa's most rare and treasured species such as the elephant, the mountain gorilla, rhinoceros and cheetah. AWF has invested training and resources in African individuals and institutions that have gone on to play critical roles in conservation. We have significantly increased scientific understanding of Africa's extraordinary ecosystems through research. We have pioneered the use of community conservation and conservation enterprise to demonstrate that wildlife can be conserved while people's well being is also improved.

African wildlife and wild land conservation programmes receive an extra boost from individuals who've agreed to make donation. It's their support that give the ability to take advantage of new conservation opportunities and the resources to respond quickly to wildlife emergencies. Making a little donation is the simplest, most cost-effective way to support African wildlife-saving work. Become a Supporter and save African animals!

Our successes are notable over the past 40 years, but the wildlife and wild lands of Africa need your help now more than ever. Your help protects endangered African animals, provides emergency relief to African animals in crises.

LATEST FALKLANDS NEWS

The Argentinian publication "Clarin" recently carried a major interview with Sir Lawrence Freedman over his official history of the Falklands War. The title is a quote from him "Argentina shouldn’t have invaded the Malvinas Islands [Falkland Islands]". It was a fair interview, and there are no real problem for the Falklands in it. He is asked about the doubts he mentioned over Britain’s claim to the Islands (which the Daily Mail had said he was undermining), but he replies basically that it is a fact that there were doubts about Britain’s claim then, which he wasn’t the first one to point out. But he goes on to say that he also says that the Argentine claim was "fragile" then. He says that he argues in favour of confidence in the British claim. He says that Britain’s main problem wasn’t its doubts about its title to the Falklands, but doubts over the viability of maintaining such an overseas territory, which Argentina felt strongly about. Perhaps his main criticism of Britain is that just before the war the intelligence services failed to understand the link between Admiral Anaya and the Navy and President Galtieri who all felt so strongly over the Falklands (which led to the invasion). He dismisses the conspiracy theories over the sinking of the General Belgrano.

CALLING ALL RHODESIANS

This November will mark the 40th Anniversary of U.D.I. and to mark this important event I want to hear from you.

S.A.PATRIOT-IN-EXILE

As most readers will know, edition No.36 of S.A.Patriot-in-Exile is now out.

The initial response to this edition has been extremely positive, and indeed so great has been the volume of orders and correspondence which we have received that it will probably take us far longer to reply than we would really like. There was, alas, one quite serious error contained in this edition. The web-site address for the band Forefather is not as quoted, but is in fact: http://www.forefather.net. We therefore apologise to Forefather for this most unfortunate mistake.

BSAP REGIMENTAL ASSOCIATION DINNER

The 58th annual regimental dinner of the UK Branch of the BSAP Regimental Association took place last month in central London. The Guest of Honour at the spectacular event was General Sir Michael Walker GCB, CMG, CBE, ADC Gen., the Chief of the Defence Staff. In a most enthralling after-dinner speech General Sir Michael Walker recalled many anecdotes which he had heard from his father Bill Walker (who of course was a serving officer in the BSAP prior to WWII, and the Recruiting Officer for the service at Rhodesia House in London during the 1950s), as well as telling something of his own early service in the army. Special guests were also invited from the Northern Rhodesian Police Association, the Rhodesian Army Association, the Rhodesian Air Force Association and the Springbok Club, and a few pictures from this event now appear on the "Latest Rhodesian News" web-page, which can be accessed at : www.springbokclub.co.uk/rhod.html

No.83 : Miss PAULINE SHAW of Durban

Pauline Shaw, like the rest of her family, was a staunch South African patriot, and an active member of Ivor Benson's "National Forum" during the late 1970s. She was also a breath-taking beauty in spite of her diminutive stature - and indeed was a finalist in the UND Rag Queen competition of 1978. Her father was a medical doctor, and her family hailed from Gingindlovu on the Natal north coast. In late 1978, however, she became very active in a Durban-based charismatic church called "The Invisible Church", and dropped out from all political activity as a result. It later came to light that she was closely romantically involved with the pastor of this church, though it is uncertain whether this ever resulted in marriage. During the early 1980s, however, a financial scandal evidently engulfed this church and it collapsed. A number of old friends, however, would be very keen to learn what ever became of Pauline Shaw.

RECOMMENDED WEB-SITE OF THE MONTH

With the coming to power of the ANC and the consequent seeming irrelevancy of White politics in South Africa, it was natural to assume that the HNP had become defunct - indeed we had heard nothing from or about them since the mid-1990s. It was therefore most surprising - and pleasing - to be informed recently by a supporter that the party's weekly newspaper, Die Afrikaner, continues in publication, and furthermore has a very impressive web-site. This should prove very interesting to Afrikaans-speaking readers, and can be accessed at :-

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

THEY HAVEN'T GONE AWAY YOU KNOW

Sir,

It was good to attend yesterday's LSC meeting and to be able to put forward my question concerning the supreme importance of the teaching of the suffering of our Protestant forebears and the role of the Papacy and Romanists in seeking to undermine our country from the Armada invasion of 1588, the gunpowder plot of 1605 and the actions of the Jesuits, to the Papacy's conspiracy against the interests of the United Kingdom during World Wars I and II - not least its complicity with the Nazis.

However, weak-kneed attitudes will not serve the well-being of our country and its people, and I must confess that I found Mr. Hilton burbling on about "extremists" and not being able to use the word Protestant as very uninspiring and indeed quite depressing. It is not Protestantism based upon the word of God as expressed in the Holy Bible that needs to hold its head in shame, bearing in mind that our breaking from the stranglehold of the Roman Catholic Church was followed by the growth of the British Empire and our industrial development (and indeed Huguenot French Protestants sought refuge here after the persecution of Louis XIV), but rather Romanism and Romanists who think it right to betray ones country and sovereign at the whim of a piece of paper written by a foreign bishop in a foreign city, engage in acts of terrorism and intimidation such as the Jesuits and the Irish Republicans, and in place of the Holy Bible have idolatry superstition and so-called "bleeding statues" of Templemore. I think that Mr. Hilton, who has first-hand experience of being ejected from the Conservative Party for a mild criticism of Vatican activities after some undue false indignation from the "Catholic Herald", should know better than to believe that we can defeat the thought-police by going along with what they want, and certainly we should be grateful for having a British and Protestant Crown instead of a Papal Tiara Crown, which undoing the Act of Settlement of 1701 will bring about. However, Rome has advanced its tentacles too far already, with the United Kingdom being properly Great Britain and [all] Ireland. The Anglican Church of Ireland must be re-established to amend the betrayal of Irish Protestants by that madman and traitor William Gladstone.

As for the "Catholic Herald" bleating to the Conservative Party about "bigotry" and "hatred", it would do better to remember its own history, not least its former editor, the odious Charles Diamond, who wrote "Killing, No Murder: It is more human to despatch a heretic to his own place than let live to spread contagion amongst others", concerning the attempted murder of the Viceroy and Lord Lieutenant of Ireland Lord French, an article condoning murder of non-Catholics for which he got 6 months imprisonment - through he should have been shot himself for incitement to murder the Crown's representative in Ireland. Our ancestors showed courage and resolution in dealing with traitors and terrorists and so must we.

Yours etc.,

Robert Lee Shipley, Gillingham, Kent, U.K.

SCRUFFY SMITH

Sir,

You mention a Mike Smith of Portsmouth; no idea who he is and can't say I've ever heard of him. His "CDA" is I imagine one man and a dog - but with a computer he can give the impression of being much more.

I'm more distressed than amazed at the numbers of odd-balls and weirdoes that continue to surface here, to form groups, parties, fronts and the like that last a few months or so, then split, have coups, or just simply disappear, to re-form a month or so later under a new name and leadership, but with new plans (or plots)!

Yours etc.,

T.D., Southampton, Hampshire, U.K.

REMEMBER 1492!

Sir,

Well said. The Spaniards threw the Muslims out in 1492 and we can do it now!

Yours etc.,

September 2005 Edition.

SPRINGBOK CYBER NEWSLETTER

September 2005 edition

Although the recent disorder in West Belfast was of course regrettable, it was even so unsurprising. Ever since the so-called Belfast Agreement – and more particularly since the despicable Patten Report - the Unionist population of Northern Ireland has quite justifiably felt aggrieved and suppressed in their own country.

The catalyst for this latest disorder was a march by the local Orange Order lodges in the Springmartin district of West Belfast, when briefly the Orangemen would walk down a road where many Republican residents lived, which the sinister "Parades Commission" had ruled "illegal". The Republicans do not own the road of course - it is the Queen's Highway, so therefore all law-abiding citizens have every right to utilise it. The Orange Order, of course, stands for civil and religious liberties for ALL and their parades moreover provide colour and spectacle for all to enjoy. What could possibly be the objection of the local residents to this joyful display of freedom therefore? If they do not like living in the United Kingdom and dislike such manifestations of loyalty to the Crown then their answer is obvious. They should immediately re-locate to the Republic of Ireland or to elsewhere in the world.

But another more sinister factor was in play during this recent confrontation, namely the actions of the newly-constituted Police Service of Northern Ireland, whose actions on the day were construed by many observers to be both biased and heavy-handed. All but Republican terrorists and their apologists agreed that the former force of law and order in Northern Ireland, the Royal Ulster Constabulary, was totally neutral in their application of the law. In spite of unsubstantiated claims by Nationalists that it was a "sectarian" police force, over 8% of its personnel were Roman Catholic - regardless of the great intimidation which they endured from Republican terrorists. The abolition of the RUC as a result of the Patten Report (and it should be remembered that Chris Patten, in spite of being a nominal Conservative, is a devout Roman Catholic and a pro-EU fanatic) was one of the most shameful events in recent British history, and the rules for the composition of the new PSNI display all of the most dangerous aspects of "affirmative action". Patten decreed that the new force should be 50% Roman Catholic and 50% Protestant (in effect non-Roman Catholic) - in spite of the fact that Roman Catholics make up less than 40% of the population of Northern Ireland as a whole. "Affirmative action" has proved disastrous in South Africa, and it will prove equally disastrous in Ulster, as we do not doubt that the real cause of the recent disorder was the biased actions of the new police service. The current quota system imposed by Patten must therefore be abolished immediately, and ideally the police service in Northern Ireland should be re-named the Royal Ulster Constabulary.

The factor which is most disturbing, however, is the part played in this dispute by the new Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Peter Hain. It should be remembered by all that Hain was the leading figure in the anti-South African protests against peaceful touring South African sports teams during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Several of the actions of his protesters at the time can only be described as crypto-terrorism (such as the hi-jacking of team coaches, the sprinkling of tin-tacks on rugby pitches and threats to shoot off bails at cricket matches). Hain's latest unjustified condemnation of the Orange Order was therefore only to be expected from such an evil man. He should be removed from office immediately, and hopefully one day will face charges for conspiracy, sedition and the glorification of terrorism.

SPRINGBOK CLUB'S AUGUST MEETING

Although the Springbok Club was faced with an acute problem last month when the planned speaker, Aaron Lucas, couldn't be contacted due to his military commitments, we were most grateful to the organisation's Treasurer, and a leading official in the London Swinton Circle, Mr. Allan Robertson, for "stepping into the breach" and delivering a highly enlightening talk under the theme of "The British Empire and its Continuing Legacy". He certainly didn't disappoint, and indeed delivered a most enlightening talk. It was also most encouraging to see such a larger than expected attendance for this replacement meeting organised at such short notice, particularly the high numbers of new faces who were present.

------------------------------------------------------------------

SPRINGBOK CLUB'S SEPTEMBER MEETING

For their September meeting the Springbok Club will be most honoured to welcome Mr. Michael Brufal de Melgarejo, the 9th Marques de Lendinez, as guest speaker. Details of this meeting are as follows:-

Date: Tuesday 27th September 2005.

Time: 19.15 hrs for 19.30 hrs.

Venue: THE CLARENCE (the upstairs function room), 4 Dover Street, Mayfair, London W1 (just off Piccadilly opposite the Ritz Hotel – nearest underground station: Green Park). Please note that this is the Mayfair Clarence, and NOT the Whitehall Clarence.

Michael Brufal de Melgarejo, the 9th Marques de Lendinez, was born in Gibraltar and educated in the UK at Downside School and Christ's College, Cambridge, where he read economics and law. He spent many years in Fleet Street on The Times, The Sunday Times and The Observer. For the past 43 years he has been London Correspondent (pro bono) of The Gibraltar Chronicle and has had countless articles published in the British media about Gibraltar. Michael was banned from entering Spain for more than twenty years; his crime being to promote the inalienable right of the Gibraltarians to self-determination. He has also written more published letters about Gibraltar in the British press than any other person. His first letter was published in the now defunct Reynolds News when he was only nine years old. He is a director of The Friends of Gibraltar Heritage Society, and at present is endeavouring to prove that the Foreign Office is wrong when they state that the town of Goole was never twinned with Gibraltar. This on-going battle should have reached conclusion by the date of the meeting.

------------------------------------------------------------------

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB EVENTS

In October the Springbok Club will be organising a delegation to visit Gibraltar in order to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar. It is planned to stage a wreath-laying ceremony at the Trafalgar Cemetery during the day of Friday 21st October, to be followed by two events being organised by the Gibraltar Heritage Trust - a Trafalgar Day Dinner during the evening of Friday 21st October and a trip to Cape Trafalgar on Saturday 22nd October. Evidently hotel places on the Rock for this period and vacancies for the two events being staged by the Gibraltar Heritage Trust are filling up fast, so it is therefore suggested that all those who wish to join this trip should make arrangements as soon as possible. For more details please e-mail: springbok@falklands.org

In November the Springbok Club will be organising a party to visit Lewes for the annual Bonfire Festivities on November 5th - which this year, being the 400th anniversary of the Discovery of the Gunpowder Plot, will have even greater significance. Again for more details please e-mail: springbok@falklands.org

Later during November the Springbok Club will be staging their annual UDI Day Dinner in central London, when a most interesting personality with strong connections to Rhodesia will be Guest of Honour.

------------------------------------------------------------------

SPRINGBOK CLUB BRANCH NEWS

The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club staged a trip to the "Sea Britain" Saxon Community Fair in Herne Bay during August. This proved to be a most pleasant event organised in a traditional British country fair fashion, which the Springbok Club contingent enjoyed tremendously. Of particular interest was the performance of the New Scorpion Band, who played a medley of traditional British sea-shanties (as well as a selection of other traditional British folk songs), which was especially significant during the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar.

The Chilterns Branch of the Springbok Club is hoping to stage a get-together towards the end of the year when a well-known personality from the British patriotic movement will be present.

The London Branch of the Springbok Club is planning to hold a meeting early during 2006 when one of their members will be giving a talk on early Anglo-Saxon history.

------------------------------------------------------------------

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS

The London Swinton Circle's summer buffet was staged earlier this month, whereat the Guest of Honour was Mr. Simon Heffer, the acclaimed Daily Mail columnist. Mr. Heffer gave a masterful speech in which he gave a full analysis of the current British political scene, particularly in relation to the forthcoming Conservative leadership election.

[Alas this gathering was marred considerably by the unwelcome presence of a certain Mr. Mike Smith. Smith is evidently the leading-light behind an obscure organisation called the "Conservative Democratic Alliance" (CDA), which in spite of its total insignificance still manages to run a fairly impressive web-site. This web-site contains a discussion "forum", upon which there recently appeared some quite vile and abusive attacks upon the London Swinton Circle, the Springbok Club, and certain leading officials of both these organisations - some of which were posted by Smith himself. It was therefore quite astonishing that Smith should wish to attend a meeting staged by an organisation which he evidently holds in such low esteem. When one of the leading officials of the LSC confronted the scruffily-dressed Smith to complain about these offensive postings on his site, however, he began to cause a scene by first threatening to "call the police" and then starting to hurl infantile and offensive abuse at the leadership of the organisation. Only the desire of other officials to prevent violent confrontation in front of guests present prevented Smith from being physically ejected from the meeting. We were subsequently informed that this Smith character has a long history of legal actions and Internet confrontations, thus suggesting that he attracts trouble wherever he goes. We would therefore be most keen to learn more details about this trouble-making individual and the organisation which he claims to run. Needless to say, all information received will be treated with the utmost confidence.]

Details of the next London Swinton Circle meeting are as follows:-

Date: Saturday 24th September 2005

Time: 13.00 hrs for 13.15 hrs.

Venue: The Clarence (the upstairs Parliament Room), 53 Whitehall, Westminster, London SW1 (nearest underground stations: Embankment and Charing Cross). Please note that this is the Whitehall Clarence, and NOT the Mayfair Clarence.

Guess Speakers: Mr. Roger Ison and Mrs. Laura Midgely of the Campaign against Political Correctness.

REPORT FROM THE ZIMBABWE CONSERVATION TASK FORCE

We would like to report that thanks to various people and organizations who donated money for the tranquilizer M99 in response to our appeal for the snared Bumi elephants, wire snares have been removed from an elephant and a buffalo in the Bumi Hills area.

We would like to offer our heartfelt appreciation to the donors and to all the people involved in the removal of these snares which is an extremely dangerous and complicated operation. Thanks also to the very kind people who flew the team into Bumi free of charge and to the aviation company who flew in the M99.

It has been reported that the elephant and the buffalo have recovered since the snares were removed and are doing very well.

LATEST FALKLANDS NEWS

Recently La Nacion carried a major article entitled "Los Kelpers ya no son ciudadanos de segunda" (The Kelpers are not second-class citizens any more) about how economic development has raised the standard of living, and per capita income, in the Falklands to the second highest in the American continent (after the United States). It says this comes from tourism and more importantly fishing – although income from this has dropped recently. It outlines how this income has been spent on infrastructure, education, etc. It also says that the Islanders hope for oil development. It says this could cause friction with Argentina - although it mentions the 1995 Oil Accord in this context.

The article points out the unwillingness of Islanders to trade with Argentina – for obvious reasons. Interestingly it suggests that the Argentine Foreign Ministry believes that for trade there would have to be an agreement recognising Argentine sovereignty! (This is difficult to believe – but if it is true then it’s yet another very good reason for not having trade between the Falklands and Argentina).

This main article is fairly upbeat over the Falklands, but on the same page there is another smaller, and rather unpleasant, article by former Foreign Minister Adalberto Giavarini. He says that the prosperity of "the British colonial population who occupy our islands" shouldn’t lead to errors of perception. He goes on to say that Islander prosperity does not change anything. He clearly wants Islanders to be thought of just as Britons living in an overseas colony, and particularly criticises what he considers to be attempts by Islanders to establish a separate identity for the Falklands (from Britain). For example, he even complains about the use of the suffix "fk" for Falklands e-mail addresses instead of "uk", which is what he thinks it should be. He again uses his offensive description "media babble" for Islander claims to the right of self-determination at the UN.

There are also reports in the press of the burial of three of the founders of the "Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo", the organisation that protested during and after the military dictatorship about the disappearance (murder) of their children. The mothers’ three bodies were only found and identified recently. They had been murdered by Alfredo Astiz (the not very gallant defender of South Georgia during the Falklands War).

The HON. IAN DOUGLAS SMITH

We have recently received the following report from South Africa about the current position of former Rhodesian Prime Minister Ian Douglas Smith:-

"Mr. Smith at present stays in a hotel for the aged, not far from where Rhodes died in Muizenberg. He never misses a chance to be with 'you wonderful Rhodesians', and attended one or two events that were not too good for his health, even if they lifted his spirits. Consequently, his daughter Jean Tholet has been managing his outings since May. It is best to communicate with Mr. Smith through Jean at clem@iafrica.com."

BSAP REGIMENTAL ASSOCIATION SUNDOWNERS

A small delegation of Springbok Club officials were again most honoured to join the UK Branch of the BSAP Regimental Association for their monthly "sundowners" gathering in London earlier this month. This turned out to be a highly enjoyable event and friendship and liaison between the two organisations was cemented even further as a result. The BSAP Regimental Association are certainly to be congratulated upon their efforts to keep the spirit of Rhodesia alive, and happily they are not alone in this respect, for other organisations such as Rhodesians Worldwide, the Rhodesian Army Association, the Rhodesian Christian Group, the South African-based Flame Lily Foundation and the New Zealand-based Kamina Kawena organisation are doing similarly. Hopefully there will be even closer links and liaison between all these most praise-worthy movements in the days ahead.

BOOK OFFERS

"WAY OUT OF LINE" by Trisha Jackson is a novel which tells the story of the profound impact that an innocent youthful love affair has on the lives of two young lovers. The plot moves from a cult and a maximum security prison in the US to the savannah grasslands of Mozambique and Zimbabwe - this makes for adventure, suspense and melodrama. Packed with conflict and sexual tension, anyone who loves romance, passion and excitement should enjoy reading this story.

Trisha Jackson was born and grew up in Rhodesia. She immigrated to the USA with her husband and three children in 1990. She and her husband live in a unique, rural community in the Tonto National Forest in the eastern mountains of Arizona.

"THE GREAT SOUTH AFRICAN LAND SCANDAL" by Dr. Philip Du Toit is a vital piece of work. South Africa can do without many things, but it cannot survive without its farmers.

An enjoyable and educational read, with a surprise ending.

rices include p+p. Payment can be made by credit or debit card. To order on line, log on to www.paypal.com and enter postmaster@gcartwright.demon.co.uk as payment destination.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

No.82: Miss COLLEEN LETARD of Durban

Colleen Letard was a leading Natal Table-Tennis player, who won a number of provincial titles during the late 1970s. Of French-Mauritian ancestry, she was a breath-taking beauty who had many admirers among local sportsmen, and indeed it is believed that she bore a child to one of them during the mid-1980s. She served for a while in the South African Embassy (as it then was) in London during the mid-1970s, and an old friend from that time would be very keen to make contact with her again.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

EMPIRE LOYALIST

Sir,

If I may say so, our Empire Day Celebrations went off superbly, and it was an honour to be able to address such a receptive and friendly audience upon the topic of "Flags of the Empire". Hopefully by next year, with a "second glorious revolution", we may be able to hold our Celebrations in the Colonial Office, Dominions Office or the India Office, and to consign to history the evils of the European Union and unwanted mass foreign immigration! The sooner the Third British Empire is up and running the better, and not least because it will stop hundreds of millions of pounds of British taxpayers money being spent on foreigners, which in reality only ends up in the pockets of the governments instead of the welfare of their citizens.

Malaya, Singapore, Ceylon, India and the Dutch East Indies will be better off under European Imperial Rule, as not only will money spent in these lands actually be spent on helping the ordinary people, but also the daily administration will be more effective and fair.

Besides, it is only right and proper that buildings such as Government House Calcutta, Fort Fincastle in the Bahamas and Government House in Cape Town fly the Union Flag which is the birthright and protection of all the peoples of the Third British Empire, instead of the mishmash rags of mob-rule majority-rule Republic of India, the Bahamas and the "new" South Africa. Instead of living in a "World Turned Upside Down" of chaos, misery, hypocrisy, madness and quisling politicians, we must have a world order based upon justice, the rule of law and common-sense, with the Third British Empire at the forefront.

Yours etc,

Robert Lee Shipley, Gillingham, Kent, U.K.

LEFT PLIGHT

Sir,

I notice that the Left are slowly getting round to the plight of the Blacks in occupied Rhodesia - no word about the Whites of course. 25 years of tyranny and terrorism and now they feel they must show some sympathy – but no guilt, even though it is they who brought about the evil of Mugabe and his 'Zimbabwe' state.

Yours etc,

Daniel Wilkinson, Eltham, London, U.K.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

SINN FEIN/AL QA'EDA

Sir,

I am struck at the irony of the London bombings - essentially these are the progeny of the IRA campaigns in mainland Britain. We know what happened there - capitulation to the terrorists, followed by political preference to Sinn Fein.

Who can doubt that there are now two active threads in relation to Islamic terrorism?

1) The public face of "utter determination to prevail"; and

2) The private face of "secret concession and double-speak", leading to fundamental betrayal.

We can only hope that President Bush will give Blair some backbone.

Time for a change in Britain.

Yours etc,

Maurice Brown, Lanark, Ontario, Canada

-----------------------------------------------------------------

G MISTAKE

Sir,

Knowing the attitude towards their former colonial masters, I believe Africans would rather go back to their barbaric past than be restored to their colonial prime. Mugabe's destruction of the benefits that colonialism brought to Rhodesia/Zimbabwe is proof of this. What African leaders want is Western technology and material benefits, without strings attached. G8 decisions taken were not as well received by African leaders as the propagandists might have given us to believe. Too much is asked of them in return for debt relief and aid, and I believe time will show that few of them will meet with the criteria laid down at Gleneagles.

Yours etc,

Jan Geelvink, Pretoria, Transvaal, South Africa

-----------------------------------------------------------------

UNITED COLOURS

Sir,

I have just come back from Israel - did you know that the colour of the Gush Katif residents opposing disengagement is orange?

I had a good time there on a pro-Israel solidarity tour by evangelical Christians and Jews.

Yours etc.,

Simon McIlwaine, Croydon, London, U.K.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

GROCER'S RECKONING

Sir,

Brilliant stuff in the July SCN. I especially like the special touch you did re Edward Heath. I only regret that he did not stand trial for treason. He is now meeting the God of Ian Paisley whom he defied.

Yours etc,

Nigel Owens, Ballymoney, Co. Antrim, U.K.
