December 2006 Edition.

SPRINGBOK CYBER NEWSLETTER

December 2006 edition

As many readers will probably know, the Springbok Club has been obtaining considerable publicity in recent editions of the London-published South African expatriate freebee newspaper "South African" - in particular in relation to recognition of the real South African flag.

By all accounts this publicity resulted in the largest volume of reader-correspondence ever generated by an article in this newspaper, with the majority of reactions being largely in favour of the Springbok Club's stance. Of the fourteen letters subsequently published by "South African" as a result of this publicity nine were broadly in favour of the Springbok Club's allegiance to the real South African flag, with only five favouring the ANC-regime's "underpants" design.

Subsequent to all this publicity a huge number of real South African flags were clearly seen being flown by South African supporters at the recent autumn internationals at Twickenham between England and the Springboks (if the ANC-regime still permits the South African national team to be known by this historic term!), and it came to light that stocks of the real South African flag were being openly sold at Twickenham Railway Station. As a result of this the Springbok Club has been contacted by a number other South African publications who took note of this development and enquired whether the Springbok Club was behind these sales.

Alas we must report that the Springbok Club isn't currently in a financial position to be able to mount such a sales operation, but even so it appears that the organisation - even with its present limited resources - has still been able to "set the agenda" on the flag issue among the expat White South African community. As a result of this some unknown enterprising entrepreneurs have evidently spotted a large potential market - and good luck to them!

The Springbok Club has therefore proved to be in the forefront of the South African struggle "in exile". Already the Springbok Club has successfully managed to "set the agenda" on the flag issue, but other even more important matters lie ahead. 2007 therefore promises to be an even more significant year for all those who believe in the rights and destiny of the South African people. United we can and will prevail.

SPRINGBOK CLUB DAY OF THE VOW COMMEMORATIONS

The Springbok Club will once again be staging a function to mark the Day of the Vow this year, the details of which are as follows :-

Date : Saturday 16th December 2006

Times : Assemble from 13.30 hrs onwards, main activities to start at approximately 15.00 hrs.

Venue : THE CLARENCE (the upstairs "Drawing Room" bar), 4 Dover Street, Mayfair, London W1 (just off Piccadilly opposite the Ritz Hotel - nearest tube station: Green Park).

Guest Speaker : Mr. PETER KING, who will speak on the theme of "Going forward together"

Background : At a critical time in the history and fortunes of the Afrikaner people they made a covenant with their God. It was a solemn promise, and their true descendants still regard it as binding on them. Up until 1994 the annual acknowledgement of their covenant at the Voortrekker Monument was a national and religious holiday. As part of the headlong rush to replace every emblem of White government, including the flag, the decision was taken to rename the 16th December as "Day of Reconciliation". For us, however, it will always be the Day of the Vow. The word covenant implies "going forward together". In choosing the title for this address it seemed appropriate to feature the ongoing nature of that historic commitment. Let us take the steadfastness of the South African farming communities as an example for our own efforts to keep alive the flame of hope that South Africa will, one day, be properly governed again.

About the speaker: Peter King was born in Potters Bar in the UK during WWII, the son of a Lancashire Nursing Sister and a London Architect. His mother assumed that he would be joining her side of the family's commitment to Anglican Ministry, and made sure he had a classical education; his father showed him how to start a business. Armed with the priceless gift of being able to offer discount in Latin, Peter chose to follow his own love of electronics, and for many years was involved in the technology and technique of sound in the film and broadcasting industries. In 1976 he supplied some specialised sound equipment to a Johannesburg company for the brand new SABC TV service. In order to install the equipment he took a nineteen-day ticket to South Africa. He returned to London twenty years later. Such was the power of South Africa's magic and many of its people. During his South African stay Peter's lifelong involvement in electronics led to his becoming deeply involved in the emerging use of computers as design tools. By now bilingual, in 1983 he chaired the inaugural meeting of the South African Association of CAD users. In 1985 he was invited to become Technical Director of the AutoCad Centre, and presented papers on programming languages at several major universities. Up until 1996, he was a computer consultant to several prestigious companies, including Tiger Oats, First National Bank, Standard General Assurance, The Morgan Group and Southern Sun Hotels (Sun City). He was based in Johannesburg, but travelled for both business and pleasure in South-West Africa and the Eastern Transvaal. He was an enthusiastic Round Tabler, and in 1993 became the founder chairman of CHUG, the user group for programmers of the C language. Alas, as it became clear that there was no place for him in the "Affirmative Action" environment, it was time to say goodbye to so many dear friends, and in 1996 Peter returned to the land of his birth. The many memories and friendships remain a testament to a wonderful experience; and a once beautiful city. A supporter of the Springbok Club for some time, Peter is currently a member of the Executive Committee and is Liaison Officer of the London Branch.

Buffet-snacks will be provided at this function, and admission charges will be £7.00 per head for Life, Honorary and Full Members of the Springbok Club/ELC, £8.50 per head for Associate Members, and £10.00 per head for non-members. Although payment may be made on the day, it would help to gauge numbers if all those planning to attend could inform us in advance by 'phoning: 07711-188430.

------------------------------------------------------------------

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC ACTIVITIES

The 2007 AGM of the Springbok Club/Empire Loyalist Club will take place in January, after which it is anticipated that a leading anti-EU activist will give a brief address. Only fully paid-up members of the SC/ELC will be allowed to attend this meeting, and only Life, Honorary and Full Members will be entitled to vote and to stand for office.

In February 2007 the Springbok Club/ELC anticipates welcoming a leading national security lawyer as guest speaker, and in March 2007 the SC/ELC will be joining forces with the London Swinton Circle to stage a meeting to be addressed by a leading personality from Gibraltar.

------------------------------------------------------------------

SPRINGBOK CLUB/ELC BRANCH NEWS

We are happy to announce that the problems which unfortunately affected the Northern Ireland Branch of the Springbok Club/ELC earlier this year now appear to have been successfully overcome. The Chairman of the N.I. Branch, Pastor Nigel Owens, still anticipates taking up an overseas teaching appointment in early 2007 however, so therefore needs to hand over the reins of the branch to other dedicated members in the province in the very near future, and a special branch AGM is being planned for early 2007 with this aim in mind. We trust therefore that all members and supporters in Northern Ireland will do their best to help Nigel orchestrate a smooth handover.

The Kent Branch of the SC/ELC is planning an informal social gathering in January, probably in the Medway Towns area.

Alas the anticipated monthly get-togethers which the London Branch of the SC/ELC initially planned never came to full fruition. With recent new injection of blood into the branch's committee it is hoped that this plan will be revived for 2007.

It seems likely that both the dormant Chilterns and Hampshire branches of the SC/ELC will be revitalised with new branch leaderships early in the new year, and that a new Sussex/Surrey Branch will be established.

If you live in any of these areas and would like to become involved in branch activities please e-mail: springbk@netcomuk.co.uk

LONDON SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS

The London Swinton Circle was addressed by the Rt.Hon. Ann Widdecombe MP, the former Home Office minister and Conservative MP for Maidstone and the Weald, earlier this month. Miss Widdecombe gave a captivating and wide-ranging speech to a packed audience, which on the whole was very well received. Although there were a few issues where many LSC members present disagreed with her, it was observed afterwards that even in spite of this fact she still seemed far closer to LSC policies than the present CP leadership, and it was just a tragedy that by announcing her retirement from Parliament at the next general election she would not be able to make valuable common-sense contributions to a future Conservative government.

In January the LSC will be addressed by Mr. David Davies MP, the Conservative MP for Monmouth. Precise details for this meeting have still not been finalised, but will be announced in next month's SCN.

4 HARCOURT STREET PETITION

4 Harcourt Street, Dublin, was the birthplace of Sir Edward Carson. Unfortunately this property has been neglected during recent years, but a petition campaign has been mounted to encourage the Dublin authorities to assign a preservation order, restore and finally add a commemorative plaque to the building. We believe that this is a most praiseworthy campaign, so therefore urge all our readers to add their names to the petition. It can be accessed at : http://www.PetitionOnline.com/4harco/

LETTER TO THE OBSERVER

Mr. Jaco Strauss from Melbourne has written the following most succinct letter to The Observer expressing his disgust at the recent totally ignorant pronouncements made by David Cameron in relation to South African terrorists :-

Dear Sir,

It is seldom that one gets the chance to see short-sighted political opportunism on the scale recently exhibited by the Tory leader David Cameron.

In order to try and boost his international image he decided to hitch a ride on Nelson Mandela's coat tails. He managed to get the necessary photo shoot last week and reckoned it afforded a great opportunity to distance himself from his predecessor, Lady Thatcher, who used to refer to Mandela's ANC as "terrorists". David Cameron therefore quickly went on record to claim that Thatcher's Tories got it plainly "wrong" at the time.

Now regardless of how important this photo-op was for Mr Cameron, it is interesting that he should decide to open a polemic on the definition of "terrorism" in the same month a major terrorist plot had ostensibly been foiled in his own country. Not only that, but his country is currently engaged in a "War on Terror" as the major ally of the United States in the biggest war currently raging.

Most observers would however agree that one man's "terrorist" is another man's "freedom fighter", whether it be Mandela, Osama bin Laden, Bobby Sands or Francisco Garmendia. Now if we desired to cut through all the politically-correct posturing and associated sound-bites, we would need to consult the actual dictionary meaning of the word "terrorist". As an Oxford old boy Cameron should be happy with the Oxford Dictionary's definition which defines a "terrorist" as : "a person who uses violence and intimidation in the pursuit of political aims".

Now whichever way you look at it, this is pretty much what the ANC did during the Thatcher years. I don't know what Cameron did at his Eton school on 20 May 1983, but on that day the ANC blew up 18 civilians through a car bomb explosion in Pretoria. Last year on 7 July a "terrorist" blew up 13 civilians on a bus at Tavistock Place, London. Would David Cameron be able to connect these dots - or will he, 20 years down the line after a photo opportunity with an aging Osama bin Laden, hail him too as "one of the greatest men alive" before criticizing Blair for calling al-Qa'eda "terrorists"? How will we ever eradicate this scourge while the likes of Cameron insist on making their contemptible efforts worthwhile?

For let us not fool ourselves. The world is forever condemning "terrorism" on the one hand while rewarding it on the other. Sinn Fein would never have been part of any Belfast Agreement if it wasn't for the IRA's long-standing campaign of blowing up civilians all over the UK, and how prominent would the ANC have been if it wasn't for an "armed struggle" that amounted to little more than ambushing policemen and blowing up civilians in public places? Who would've known about ETA and how many people would have shown any sympathy for the "Palestinian cause" if it did not get advertised through decades of terror inspiring bloodshed?

If the British were ever going to be foolish enough to elect a terror apologist of Cameron's ilk to high office, they can rest assured that further "freedom fighter" attacks like those of 7/7 are going to be visited upon them with ever more regularity.

Yours respectfully,

Jaco Strauss
Melbourne

THE NEW PARTY

Some couple of years or so ago we received friendly e-mail contact from a Mr. Martyn Greene, who was evidently a leading official in a London-based fringe political party called "The New Party". Alas, in spite of promises of support and several official invitations, we never saw anything of Mr. Greene or any other representatives from "The New Party" at any functions. At much the same time we received some material from "The New Party" through the post, but this time with an address in Oldbury, Worcestershire, under the name of a Mr. James Barry. A few weeks ago, however, we received a 'phone call from this Mr. Barry regarding "The New Party". Most mysteriously, however, when we mentioned our previous contact with Mr. Greene he denied all knowledge of him, and bizarrely also claimed ignorance of the party's official address in Northumberland Avenue, London. We therefore sent e-mails to the last know addresses of both Mr. Greene and Mr. Barry asking for clarification, but alas so far haven't received the decency of any reply from either of them. Quite clearly there is something very puzzling and indeed sinister about this so-called "The New Party". Any further information in this regard would be most gratefully received.

SEAL ALERT-SA REPORT

After months of campaigning to end Namibia's largest cull of 85,000 baby seals in nursing and birthing grounds, the species continues to collapse. Since July 1 the sealers have clubbed their way through every living nursing baby seal pup in their desire to fill their export orders for the EU. Sealers are now concentrating their killing spree on shooting 6000 young and old bulls for the Far East trade. Whilst the 2006 sealing season draws to a close on November 15, Seal Alert-SA is once again receiving reports that a 7th mass die-off has taken place since 1988.

Prior to the start of this year's sealing season the seal population was at 1982 levels. After 91,000 have been slaughter (with 100% of the new-born pups) one can only imagine what the Namibian seal population has further declined to. The lowest official population figures we have are in 1972. How long before the seal population will declined off the chart, and yet Namibia still claims its seal population is healthy and sealing is sustainable?

Here are just two of the extracts Seal Alert-SA has received in recent days.

"My name is Yolanda; we are currently visiting Swakopmund in Namibia. We went to the beach (Mile 4 – Mile 8) this morning and were shocked by the number of dead seals on the beach. We only drove on part of the beach, but counted a total of 97. This was terrible, especially for my kids. We even saw a couple of baby seals also dead - do you know what is going on? This is shocking, first of all the decaying bodies, and second all the sadness of why this is happening. We live in South Africa (Pretoria) and we came to Swakopmund to look at this beautiful place, yet now we get a slaughter field. I took photos and I really want to e-mail this to people in South Africa who are not informed of this cruelty. Please let me know how I can help, we will be here until Saturday, and hopefully will be able to show our kids some seals that are alive - not this!"

"Phoned Fisheries today and spoke to Heidi who put the phone down on me. She's dealing with the seals and is a senior biologist. I got up her nostrils because I demanded an explanation regarding the status of the seals thus far - culling and starving to death. I also got hold of an Advocate Mbako at Fisheries HQ in Windhoek who is going to issue me with a press release regarding the seals dying along our coastline. She phoned me back this evening (surprise) and said the matter has been looked into and they will have an answer by Monday. I'll let you know further, but I intend stirring the pot some more, because the seals are dying like flies and the beaches are littered with corpses. I would like to know roughly how many seals you think have been culled to date, as well as what sort of figures are we looking at regarding the seals starving to death? Last year I think there was a recorded figure of 200,000 or 500,000 - that is an awful lot!"

In the last three days, Seal Alert-SA, without any funding (except from one loyal supporter in the Netherlands), has rescued one juvenile, two sub-adults and one weanling pup - all severe starvation cases. Sadly the juvenile after a courageous fight died.

All the large international seal campaigning organizations, with many millions of supporters and many millions of dollars in funding, all posted opposition press releases on their websites, denouncing Namibia as the 'cruellest baby seal hunt on earth'. I know one organization has recently started an international seal awareness campaign called 'making waves for seals', in which over 2 million school children (and their parents) will be reached. I wonder how much of this will go towards saving the seals currently dying in Namibia?

No word as yet from the Green Party's Dr Caroline Lucas or the Commissioners in Europe or the CITES Secretariat, so it's safe to assume once again that all these slaughtered baby seal pup pelts will be welcomed into the EU.

Are we currently witnessing the way in which a seal species becomes extinct, with everybody horrified at the pictures, but not horrified enough to do or help in anyway - yet have no problem in exploiting the situation to raise maximum funding for themselves, with not a cent going towards saving these beautiful marine creatures?

ZIMBABWE/RHODESIAN PENSION CAMPAIGN

We have recently received the following update from Mr. Sean MacNally of the Zimbabwe/Rhodesian Pension Campaign. Their web-site can be accessed at : www.zim-pensions.blogspot.com

This is the text of the correspondence received from 10 Downing Street in July in response to receipt of the Petition :-

"The Prime Minister has asked me to thank you for your recent letter and the petition. He hopes you will understand that, as the matter you raise is the responsibility of the Department for Work and Pensions, he has asked that your letter be forwarded to that Department so that they may reply to you direct on his behalf.

Yours sincerely

S CAINE"

As might have been expected, no further correspondence has since been forthcoming. While the petition itself really only provides details of our objective, and the names of the signatories that have supported it, we recognise that we also have amassed a lot of information via correspondence with our supporters as well as direct feedback from comments on the petition site itself that needs to be summarised and shared; and of course used as ammunition for our cause.

Accordingly work has commenced on compiling a Petition Report that will be forwarded to selected British Government officials so that they have evidence available that portrays the hardship and suffering that pensioners are going through as a result of their plight being ignored. The Report will also provide some statistics on the petition that may be of interest to supporters, and summarize the British Government's position to date, and how it falls short of their moral, if not legal, responsibility.

"BETRAYAL IN HIGH PLACES" by James Mackay.

271 pages, some illustrations. Soft-back £5.00 including p&p. (r.r.p. £10.00)

The compelling story of what really happened in a defeated Japan following the end of World War II. Merchant seaman James Mackay, whilst travelling in the east, started to hear stories of massacres and other atrocities committed by Japanese forces, not just against enemy troops, but against innocent civilian populations. His subsequent investigations revealed reluctance amongst Allied governments to discuss these incidents that seemed to amount almost to a cover-up. Why would the Allies want to overlook the crimes of a former enemy, especially when the leadership of another former enemy was being liquidated at Nuremburg? Using his own research, as well as material prepared by Australian Army war crimes investigator Capt. J.G. Goodwin, Mackay exposes the cover-up and names the guilty. Not only were the Japanese keen to sweep the past under the carpet, but the US government of the time also had its own reasons for preserving the political and industrial elite in Japan. A provocative book, which calls into question the morality of US policy towards Japan after WWII.

Payment can be made by credit or debit card. To order on line, log onto www.paypal.com and enter postmaster@gcartwright.demon.co.uk as payment destination.

WHERE ARE THEY NOW ?

No.97 : Ms. CHRISTINE ALEXANDER

Christine Alexander hailed from Solihull in Warwickshire, but settled in Durban during the 1970s where she set up her own hair-dressing salon. Alas she had a very troubled love-life, and as a result moved to the Rand around 1980, after which little more was heard of her. A number of old friends would be very keen to learn what became of her.

LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

DEATH SENTENCE

Sir,

Another live shootout recently occurred in Jo`burg, passers-by having to take cover from AK47 bullet fire. 4 cash-in-transit staff killed in one heist, 1 guard shot and 3 burned to death in the van which the gang had poured flammable liquid over. Another elderly couple were hijacked and robbed at their farm. 3 cash-in-transit heists in 1 day in Durban, Gateway Centre in Umhlanga, La Lucia Mall and Westville Pavilion Centre, again rounds fired and fatalities. 3 middle-aged ladies from the UK robbed at gunpoint in Jo`burg for their belongings. Today riots and violent assaults in universities. There are obviously more I could comment on.

There are millions of people now living in the UK, New Zealand and Australia because they have been affected by the alarming crime rate in the country, and that even with ADT armed-response, burglar bars on windows, high razor-wire fencing and dogs, they are still being robbed, murdered and raped in their homes. The Rand is R14.68 to the £ pound and probably the high crime rate is contributing to this. A Free State judge has recently said the death penalty should be brought back.

Yours etc.,

PLT, South Africa

ORANGE NETWORK

Sir,

I was sorry to learn that your intended trip to Ulster to address the Northern Ireland Branch of the Springbok Club/ELC was unilaterally cancelled at short notice, which I understand caused you great personal inconvenience. Had I known the dates you were going to be over in advance I may have been able to arrange for you to address either an Orange Lodge or Unionist Branch meeting.

Yours etc.,

Brian John, Belfast, U.K.

[As reported above, the problems which the N.I.Branch of the SC/ELC experienced which caused this planned meeting to be cancelled at such short notice now seem to have been overcome. It is hoped therefore that a revised speaking trip can take place in early 2007. Ed.]

OBITUARY

GENERAL AUGUSTO PINOCHET

It was with great sadness that we learnt of the recent death of Gen. Augusto Pinochet, the former President of Chile. General Pinochet saved Chile from Marxist oppression in 1973, and once installed as President presided over a free-market economic revolution which made Chile and the Chilean people the freest and most prosperous in South America. He also provided much needed support to Britain and the Falkland Islands after the Islands were invaded by dictator-ruled Argentina, and also proved a good friend to South Africa during the days of civilised rule. General Pinochet was therefore a true hero of our time if ever there was one.
