July 2019 Edition.

July 2019 edition

That period between the end of WWII and the turn of the Millennium will probably go down in history as the worst and weakest era in Western history. It was a period marked by colonial abdication, diminishing self-confidence and the sell-out of the West’s own people. Nowhere was this betrayal of our Western (specifically British) kith-and-kin better illustrated than with the lack of support shown by successive British and other Western establishments towards their own people battling against the evils of Communist-backed terrorism in Rhodesia and South Africa.

But it was not only our own White kith-and-kin who were betrayed and stabbed-in-the back during this bleak era of global abdication of power, As was detailed in S.A.Patriot-in-Exile No.35, the people of Hong Kong were also sold-out to the tender mercies of the Communist Chinese during the final years of this sorry period The main instigator of Britain’s weak and visionless surrender of Hong Kong was of course Sir Geoffrey Howe – surely a man who personified this sickening era of lack of self-confidence and quest for a “managed decline” worse than anyone else. The final hand-over however was carried out by Chris Patten, a man with sinister international affiliations which have probably been the main driving force behind the West’s increasing weakness.

As also noted in S.A.Patriot-in-Exile No.35 however, there was tremendous opposition among native Hong Kongers to Britain’s abandonment of their colony. Opinion polls showed that over 70% of the population opposed the hand-over to the Communist Chinese, and Kowloon was festooned with wall graffiti saying such things as “Long Live British Martial Rule” and “God Save the Queen, the Royal Armoured Corps and British Forces”. Now, some 20 years after the sell-out of Hong Kong, all the nightmarish predictions about Communist Chinese rule have been proved correct – but as a result the Hong Kong people have shown remarkable resistance, resolve and courage, with well over half of the territory’s population taking to the streets in protest against new legislation allowing extradition to mainland China. These protests have furthermore become increasingly about far more than just opposition to this extradition legislation, and have crystallised into calls for total Hong Kong independence. Undoubtedly the most encouraging factor about these protest demonstrations has of course been the proud display of the Hong Kong colonial flag as the symbol of resistance to Communist rule!

We of course express our complete and utter solidarity with the Hong Kong people in their current struggle against Communist oppression. The kow-towing Sir Geoffrey Howe is now of course dead, but Chris Patten should surely now be brought to account for the part which he played in the cowardly surrender of the colony. We furthermore call for British government support for the aspirations of Hong Kong independence, with a warm welcome being extended to the territory to re-join the Commonwealth when this comes about. Bullies always tend to back-away when confronted with defiant opposition, and so we therefore also call for massive Western military and naval deployment in the area in order to place pressure on the Communist regime in Peking to allow Hong Kong to go its own way.

The Springbok Club staged a most enjoyable trip to the Isle of Dog’s last month, to visit the site where Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s greatest construction, the massive steamship S.S.Great Eastern, was built and launched. This trip was followed by a most fascinating PowerPoint demonstration in a near-by convivial hostelry, which told not only about the history of the building and mercantile career of the S.S.Great Eastern, but also recounted the mysterious rumour about the Curse of the Hope Diamond!

In view of the fact that the scheduled guest speaker for this year’s annual Rhodes & Founders meeting will be out of the country for most of July, this event has therefore now been postponed until August. The annual “Raising of the Flag” ceremony is still anticipated to take place in September, with the planned meeting to be addressed by a prominent South African journalist now planned for later during the year.

In order to celebrate Empire Day, albeit rather belatedly, the Patriotic Forum staged a trip to Gravesend last month, in order to visit many of the town’s historical attractions. In particular this trip focused upon several sites associated with Gen.Charles George Gordon (“Gordon of Khartoum”) who had been stationed for several years in the town as the Royal Engineers’ commanding officer, where he supervised the strengthening and re-construction of the town’s New Tavern Fort. As well as visiting the New Tavern Fort itself the Patriotic Forum party also visited the Gordon Gardens, in which stands a massive statue to Gen.Gordon. The trip concluded at the Bat & Ball pub next to the Bat & Ball Cricket Ground, which is not only a historic venue in itself, but was also a favourite stomping-ground of the late and great Harry Tuff (see obituary in the June 2019 SCN). A few words were said about the life and achievements of Harry Tuff there, which were followed by a toast in honour of his memory.

[ One of the other interesting sights seen in Gravesend was a statue to Squadron Leader Mahinder Singh Pujji, a brave and heroic Sikh from Simla in the Punjab who had volunteered for the RAF during WWII, wherein he qualified as a fighter pilot and then served in both the European and Far Eastern theatres of operation. For some unknown reason Mahinder Singh Pujji chose not to return to his native Punjab after the conflict was over, but settled in Gravesend – hence the fact that his statue is now situated there. Like most British towns which currently have a significant non-White immigrant population there is widespread resentment towards non-Whites in Gravesend, and as a result this statue to this brave man is apparently not appreciated as much as it should be. Would it therefore not be a good idea to move this statue of this heroic Sikh to his native Punjab, where it would undoubtedly be respected far more? In its place perhaps a statue could be erected to a great Gravesend-born hero and patriot – Harry Tuff.]

As it has been discovered that this year marks the 260th anniversary of the Battle of Quebec, the Patriotic Forum has therefore decided to stage its annual Canadian solidarity celebration on the anniversary of this battle in September this year, rather than holding its usual Canada Day celebration. The Patriotic Forum will however still be holding a special meeting in honour of the memory of the late, great Dennis Delderfield on the anniversary of his birth in August, when the guest speaker will be someone who knew him well who will give a talk under the theme of “Keep the United Kingdom United”, a subject which was always close to Dennis’s heart. More details about both these events will be given in future editions of the SCN.

Work on the third edition (which will be numbered No.40 for continuity purposes) of the re-branded The Imperial Patriot (formerly S.A.Patriot/S.A.Patriot-in-Exile) has now commenced, and it is hoped that it will be published before the end of the year. We have however been slightly concerned by the lack of acknowledgements of receipt which we have received from overseas subscribers to the second edition, which were all posted well over a month ago now – with one subscriber from Australia even telling us that his copy had been intercepted by Australian Customs. If you are an overseas subscriber and have not yet received your copy, or have experienced any similar problems, please let us know.

We have recently received the following harrowing but most revealing message confirming the ongoing and systematic cruelty to animals which is occurring in the “new” South Africa from the Network for Animals organisation. It reads as follows :-

“We have told you before about our fight to stop 50 donkeys being slaughtered. This is an important and urgent UPDATE! We’ve managed to save 28. But 22 are still in peril

“The 50 donkeys who live in South Africa, were saved from the Chinese-led donkey genocide that is sweeping Africa. Jonno Sherwin, a kind-hearted South African outbid a Chinese syndicate that wanted to illegally slaughter the donkeys and send their skins to China to be boiled down for use in phony medicine.

“Now, we are in a race against the clock! Jonno doesn’t have the money to feed and care for them so we have to find new, safe homes for them. Thanks to the support of people like you, 28 donkeys have found new forever homes! We saved all 50 of the donkeys from being skinned alive.

“We have helped more than half of them find homes. We can’t let the remaining 22 be led to their death now!

“Donkeys are being wiped out in Africa by insatiable demand for their skins. African people use donkeys as transport in tasks such as water carrying. Uneducated rural people are easily persuaded to sell their animals by Chinese buyers who offer hard cash. They don’t realize that in Africa, donkeys are worth more alive than dead because in places of poor roads and poverty, donkeys offer tremendous support to local communities.

“If people won’t sell their donkeys, the Chinese arrange for them to be stolen. Then the poor creatures are led into the bush where men, often drunk, wait to slaughter them. First, they are clubbed and when they fall to the ground, they are skinned alive. Yes, that’s the level of barbarism we are dealing with here.

“The Doomsday Clock is still ticking… …for 22 gentle donkeys who could have ended up skinned alive without our help!

“We are fighting for the doomed donkeys and are desperately trying to raise the funds to keep them fed, housed and alive until loving homes can be found for them. We really, really need your help to do so. Please, if you possibly can, give generously to Network for Animals today.

“For the animals,

“Brian and Gloria Davies (and Max) founders and CEO.”

England are of course to be congratulated upon winning the 2019 Cricket World Cup – but New Zealand should be equally congratulated upon producing such a close and exciting final!

Alas, however, this year’s tournament didn’t seem to generate as much worldwide interest as may have been expected. The reason for this seems clearly to be because of the format of this year’s competition, with only ten teams competing in the finals – of which only one was from the continent of Europe (where the tournament took place) and only one from all the Americas, yet five from Asia! Of these two were from countries which are now so lawless and strife-torn that they can’t play any home games (Afghanistan and Pakistan) and one from a country which is still feeling the after-effects of an ongoing bitter civil war (Ceylon/Sri Lanka) – not forgetting of course the failed state and most crime-ridden country on earth, the “new” South Africa! What is needed in order to generate more global interest and growth for the game is a tournament involving at least 16 countries, and with more places guaranteed for first-world countries and less from the third world.

[ In recent editions of the SCN we have voiced full support for Israel Folau’s rights of free speech and freedom of religion. As a result a supporter from Australia has informed us about a most praise-worthy YouTube video which we believe readers will be very interested in viewing. It can be accessed at: ]

A supporter has recently informed us about a most interesting article in the April 2019 edition of the estimable magazine New Directions which advocates making the 75th anniversary of VJ Day on 15th August 2020 a bank holiday in a similar manner to the 75th anniversary of VE Day on 8th May 2020. We believe that this is an excellent idea, and inform readers that archived copies of New Directions can be accessed at :-

A supporter still based in the “new” South Africa has recently informed us about a planned vigil and protest in support of South Africans due to take place in Canada on 19th July. We don’t know too much about this protest or who is organising it, apart from a FaceBook posting which evidently first appeared on the “Free Canada FB” FaceBook page. Inter alia this posting reads as follows :-

“There is going to be a vigil and protest on the 19th of July at 2pm [14.00 hrs] in Canada. If anyone can join us we will be walking between the South African Embassy [sic – they probably mean towards the South African High Commission] to protest [against] farm murders and White genocide, discrimination of [sic] Whites etc.

“Then we will be going to the Canadian side to protest at [the Department of] External Affairs about no [sic] illegal immigration, denying White South Africans refugee status in Canada.

“All taking place at Sussex Drive in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, so if you [are] Canadian or have Canadian friends let them know to be there. It is a peaceful protest, no yelling and screaming or burning or anything like that please!!

“Kindest regards, Natalie Quinn. Pl[ea]s[e] Pray that all goes well for us.”

In spite of the bad grammar (which was undoubtedly caused by this message being written in a hurry) we believe that this is a most praise-worthy initiative being organized by our kith-and-kin in Canada, and so therefore encourage all of our readers and supporters in North America to attend if they can.

As most readers will be aware, Tommy Robinson (aka Stephen Yaxley-Lennon), the charismatic British patriotic activist, was recently jailed for 9 months after being found guilty of contempt of court – even though a previous such conviction had been set-aside by another court. This verdict was therefore very controversial, and related to a live-streamed FaceBook broadcast which Tommy Robinson had made from outside a Leeds court where an alleged gang of Muslim rapists were standing trial. The trial of these alleged Muslim rapists had ominously received very little coverage in the mainstream media, and when it was covered the gang were always euphemistically referred to simply as “sex groomers”. Tommy Robinson therefore felt it his civic duty to publicise what was going on – something which we would have thought the authorities would praise him for, rather than charging him on a legal technicality! A petition has now been started in order to express support for Tommy Robinson, which we believe many readers will be keen to sign. It can be accessed at :-

No.248 - Mr. KEITH BALDWIN of Durban

Keith Baldwin, who lived in the Hillary district of Durban, was the son-in-law of Robert Hall (see August 2000 SCN). Although not as active within the patriotic movement in the city as his father-in-law, it was quite clear that his heart was definitely in the same place, and he would occasionally join his father-in-law in attending Patriotic Forum events. It would be very interesting to learn where he is now.

We recently received a very interesting copy of The Orange Torch (the official journal of the Loyal Orange Institution of Scotland) through the post. There was no indication as to who sent us this copy however, and the mystery only deepened when it was spotted that it had been posted in France! If the sender is reading this, however, then we would like to thank him or her most sincerely for what proved to be a very informative and indeed inspiring read. The web-page for The Orange Torch from the Grand Orange Lodge of Scotland’s web-site can be accessed at :-

Gosh, old Blighty is in a mess with Brexit. How sad, and I have been following the Tommy Robinson case. The Establishment certainly do dirty work.

Reg A.Watson, Lindisfarne, Tasmania, Australia..

The report in the Transvaal Agricultural Union (SA)’s International Bulletin of 24th April (“Platitudes and Promises while South Africa burns”) is how farm invasions started in Zimbabwe, although this one seems to have been more strategically planned - possibly by the ANC.

Yours etc.,

Johan Geelvink, Pretoria, Transvaal, South Africa

I am a Zionist..By this I mean that I support Israel. I do not believe Jeremy Corbyn to be an anti-Semite; my definition of the term is disliking Jews for no reason other than their being Jewish. I'd loathed Robert Maxwell for years before he died but would have felt the same had he been 100% pure Nordic. The same goes for the man I regarded with good cause as my worst enemy.

I do, however, believe Corbyn to be careless of the company he keeps, and an extreme anti-Zionist who would discriminate against Israel were he to become Prime Minister. He's one of those "progressives" who operate a double standard; at one time they rightly condemned repression in Rhodesia and South Africa while ignoring, condoning or defending it when practiced by their ‘heroes’ in Black Africa - names like Lumumba, Nkrumah, Mugabe, Kaunda, Nasser and Nyerere come to mind. Now they denounce democratic Israel while turning a blind eye to repression in various Islamic dictatorships. May I remind the Communists and Trotskyists that Israel is the only country in the Middle East that tolerates them?

I also believe that it's a pity we've become so mealy-mouthed. When it comes to humour anything goes. Acceptable then is acceptable now and vice versa. Let's tell the old jokes again and answer the complaints with the words of BSM Williams-"Oh dear, how sad, never mind."

Yours etc.,

Mark Taylor, London, U.K.

The sad news of the death of Harry Tuff, and the Patriotic Forum’s recent trip to Gravesend which finished up at his old stomping ground of the Bat & Ball Cricket Ground, brought back vivid recollections of a most memorable episode which occurred in 1974/75.

In 1974 a then young pro-South African British patriot visited Southern Africa in order to follow Willie-John McBride’s British Lions around the country. He finished his trip to the sub-continent in Durban, where a fellow-sports loving South African friend introduced him to a flat-load of three trainee nurses who were qualifying at Addington Hospital on the Durban beachfront. Their names were Cathy Dreyer (see December 2008 SCN), Jenny Humphries (see October 2008 SCN) and Louise Leiper (see December 2011 SCN). All three were stunningly beautiful, with Jenny Humphries exceptionally so, and it was with her that the strongest relationship was formed. They were all planning to visit the UK the following year and arrangements were accordingly made to rendezvous when that occasion came, and after the young pro-South African British patriot had returned home Jenny Humphries started writing to him regularly and fondly.

Upon returning to the UK, and with his pro-South African sentiments having been increased significantly by his trip, the young pro-South African British patriot decided to join a new seemingly patriotic and pro-South African political party which was standing in his constituency at the October 1974 General Election – the National Front (it should be noted that at this time the National Front was still a mainstream and democratic political party, and it was only subsequently that it was taken over by a clique of neo-fascists, and thus became a toxic brand which it has so remained to this day). Through his membership of the National Front the young pro-South African British patriot met and formed good friendships with not only Harry Tuff but also with George Hazelden (see obituary in August 2011 SCN) and his wife Jane (see December 2017 SCN), who were the leading figures in the party’s Medway Towns Branch.

The three trainee nurses were due to arrive in the UK in the autumn of 1975, and all within the National Front in the north Kent area were becoming very excited by the prospect of meeting these young South Africans. The Hazelden’s had offered to let them use a seaside chalet which they owned at Allhallows on the north Kent coast for the duration of their stay free of charge, and Harry Tuff organised a “Welcome to the UK” party to be held in their honour in the pavilion of the Bat & Ball Cricket Ground in Gravesend – a building which the Patriotic Forum party was able to view from the veranda of the Bat & Ball pub during their recent trip to Gravesend.

Disaster then alas struck. The three trainee nurses had decided to travel to the UK by Union Castle liner (one of the last passenger trips which this line made), but unfortunately mechanical problems meant that they were several days late docking at Southampton. As a result they alas missed the special “Welcome to the UK” party which Harry Tuff had laid on in Gravesend, and furthermore Louise Leiper left immediately for Edinburgh where she evidently had family members to stay with, stating puzzlingly that she had no intention of ever returning to South Africa! Cathy Dreyer and Jenny Humphries were able to take advantage of George and Jane Hazelden’s kind offer of accommodation at Allhallows however, and really seemed to enjoy their stay there tremendously, with the young pro-South African British patriot and other National Front activists such as Harry Tuff taking them out on an almost daily basis to show them the historic sights of Kent. George and Jane Hazelden also treated them and the young pro-South African British patriot to an evening meal at a plush restaurant in Cobham – but it was here that another surprising problem arose, for Cathy Dreyer let it slip that she and her family were supporters of the leftist Progressive Federal Party – hardly a wise admission to make to patriotic pro-South African activists who had done so much to provide such a warm welcome for them! She also intriguingly told how she was in a relationship with a South African scientist who was evidently currently stationed at South Africa’s Antarctic scientific base.

After their stay in the UK was over the two remaining trainee nurses went on a brief tour of continental Europe, before returning home to South Africa. Jenny Humphries continued to write regularly and touchingly to the young pro-South African British patriot, and as a result he decided to emigrate to South Africa permanently. Everyone involved thought that he was emigrating in order to marry Jenny Humphries, but alas he discovered that upon her return she had taken up with an “old flame” again, a trainee gynaecologist who she had met at Addington Hospital named “Nutty” Martin, and by all accounts subsequently married him!

After that very little is known about the three trainee nurses. Cathy Dreyer was last seen shopping at OK Bazaars near to the Durban Ice Rink in the late 1970s, though no conversation took place. The rumour was heard during the late 1980s that Jenny Humphries’ marriage to “Nutty” Martin had failed and that they had divorced. Nothing further was ever heard of Louise Leiper.

It would however be very interesting to learn what did eventually happen to all three of the trainee nurses. Did Cathy Dreyer marry her Antarctic scientist, and did the disasters of the “new” South Africa make her realise her catastrophic mistake in supporting the vile ProgressiveFederal Party during the 1970s? Did Jenny Humphries really divorce “Nutty” Martin, and did she ever realise her own big mistake? And did Louise Leiper really remain in Edinburgh and never returned to South Africa? Needless to say, any information which can be provided will be treated in the strictest confidence.
