April 2012 edition

When the repulsive "anti-elitism" demonstrator Trenton Oldfield sabotaged this year's University Boat Race he not only ruined 8 months of hard training put in by both university squads, but also spoiled the enjoyment of millions of viewers in the UK and around the world.

Oldfield's kill-joy antics, however, were in reality simply a natural extension of the ultra-left's mindset. To the liberal/left it all starts off with a rejection of racial differences, and then goes on to advocate not only racial "equality" but also sexual and all other forms of "equality", until eventually any natural superiority among individuals is condemned as "elitist". All this, of course, runs counter to all natural experience and observation. Not only are all races and ethnic groups unarguably different from one another, but all individual human beings within each group are unique. The entire glory of life and the basic reason for living, surely, is that we ARE all different, and therefore can all develop differently and aspire to unique goals and ambitions. The ultra-left's ultimate aim, as exemplified by Oldfield's disruption, seems to be an obscene extension of the "prizes for all" equalitarian mentality, where all forms of competition are condemned. The end result would be a dull, boring and meaningless existence, where life simply wouldn't be worth living.

It has often been stated that the political Right tends to be sports-orientated, whereas the political Left tends to be arts-orientated. Although there are undoubtedly many exceptions to this observation (and we know of several people who otherwise fully support the aims and objectives of our movement who bizarrely take no interest in any sport!), on the whole this truism tends to hold good. It is not surprising therefore that the wretched Oldfield should choose that most iconic of sporting events - the University Boat Race - to stage his retrograde "anti-elitism" protest, for in reality his ilk oppose ALL competitive sports!

Previous to this we have heard the shrill cries of the liberal/left objecting to the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games being staged in London, citing spurious (and totally inaccurate) grounds of unaffordable costs and the importation of foreign labour for their objections. Many of the more ultra-leftist critics give the game away by then going on to advocate that all competitors should compete in a neutral Olympic strip rather than in their national colours, and that the Games themselves should be moved to a neutral Athens venue. Their opposition to national differences is therefore crystal-clear for all to see, something which would lead to the Games becoming emasculated and the natural competitive spirit withering away.

The Corinthian aura of the University Boat Race has for long been regarded as modern Britain's "Rite of Spring", being rowed along the Thames with a backdrop of buds and blossoms in view heralding a glorious summer soon to come. This year Britain may have been deprived of this event - but the forthcoming Olympics will more than compensate. In future years, however, the "Rite of Spring" will undoubted be resumed in its full glory, whereas the obnoxious memory of the kill-joy Trenton Oldfield will be consigned to the dustbin of history.

SPRINGBOK CLUB APRIL EVENT

Earlier this month the Springbok Club staged a visit to Eltham Palace in south-east London. This proved to be a most pleasant and enjoyable event, and it was good to be able to welcome back several supporters who alas have been unable to attend Springbok Club functions for the past few years. Eltham Palace was owned by royalty from the reign of King Edward I to that of King Henry VIII - who actually grew up in the Palace. A more specific Southern African connection is that in the early 20th Century Eltham Palace was owned by Stephen and Virginia Courtauld, who subsequently emigrated to become pioneer settlers in Rhodesia.

SPRINGBOK CLUB KENT BRANCH MAY EVENT

The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club will be staging a trip to the Rochester Sweeps Festival on Saturday 5th May. This event, which takes place throughout the May Day holiday weekend along Rochester High Street, features Morris Dancers, Folk Musicians and several other displays of traditional culture associated with Rochester's rich history. The Kent Branch trip is planned for the entire afternoon and early evening, but as it will be impossible to predict where the party will be at any particular time it will probably be best to 'phone 07711188430 on arrival to discover where to rendezvous. If traveling by train disembark at Rochester Station, then turn right and cross a major intersection into Rochester High Street.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB EVENTS

In June the Springbok Club will be staging a trip to view the Queen's Diamond Jubilee barge procession down the Thames, and in July and August will be organizing parties to view some of the "free" road events taking place at the Olympic Games. In September it is hoped to welcome a most interesting South African guest speaker, and in October a trip is being planned to see the newly restored Cutty Sark at Greenwich. More precise details will be given in future editions of the SCN.

SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS

The Swinton Circle staged a most successful, inspiring and well-attended meeting in March, which was addressed by Mr. Rodney Atkinson, the founder of the FreeNations web-site, who gave a most captivating talk under the theme of "The Obnoxious Origins of the European Union and the Repatriation of Powers". Mr. Atkinson expertly exposed the sinister origins of the entire "European Project", particularly the significant part played in it by German interests immediately post-WWII, but more importantly explained his ideas about how the current worrying EU situation could be remedied. Ruth Dudley Edwards was born and brought up in Dublin, educated at University College Dublin and Cambridge University and has lived in London for most of her life. She has a D.Litt from the National University of Ireland and an honorary D.Litt from Queen's University Belfast. NEW BRITAIN'S ST.GEORGE'S DAY EVE PAGEANT

New Britain staged a splendid pageant to celebrate St.George's Day on the eve of the day itself earlier this month. There was a very good attendance at this well-organised event, which featured appropriate songs and readings, as well as a brief address from one of the Aldermen of the City of London. Full congratulations are due to Mr. Dennis Delderfield for organizing such a magnificent triumph.

ENOCH POWELL 100th ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION EVENT

As Saturday 16th June 2012 marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of John Enoch Powell, a number of patriotic organizations have grouped together under the banner of the Patriotic Forum in order to commemorate this great British statesman and visionary, and the Swinton Circle has been most honoured to be asked to join this grouping.

Most of the details for this event have now been finalized. It will be held at a prestigious central London club, and will consist of a conference under the theme "Was Enoch Right?" during the afternoon, followed by a sumptuous three-course dinner during the evening. The conference will feature four distinguished guest speakers (at least two of whom knew Enoch Powell personally) who will speak on the themes of the four basic core beliefs of Enoch Powell - the free market economic system, opposition to mass immigration, EuroScepticism and full support for Ulster and the Union.

BUSH-BASH

David Scobie and Brigitte Rodrigues are organizing a big "Bush-Bash" musical festival featuring not only themselves but also other famous ex-Rhodesian and associated musicians Frazer MacKay, Graham Hall, Kenny Duarte, Guy Halls and Bud Cockcroft. This event, which will be held in aid of the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force, will take place on Saturday 26th May at Bisley Pavillion, Queens Road, Brookwood, Surrey GU24 ONY.

REPORT FROM THE Z.C.T.F.

We have recently received the following report from the Zimbabwe Conservation Task Force :-

"A baby elephant was found wandering alone down the Kario/Makuti stretch of road recently with no sign of any other elephants in sight. It is believed that his family may have been frightened off by something as their tracks lead far off into the bush. After spending the whole day with him, Andries Scholtz along with Bryce and Lara Clemence and others organised with National Parks to have him taken to Kariba for the night and the following day, he was taken to Mwanga Lodge just outside Harare where he is being cared for by Gordon and Debbie Putterill. The baby elephant has been named Kunda and Gordon and Debbie desperately need financial assistance to pay for his upkeep. Although he is only 3 weeks old, he will need 30 litres of special milk per day. If anyone is in a position to help, please contact us. Yesterday the ZCTF donated 50kg of milk formula to Kunda and I took a trip out to Mwanga Lodge to deliver the donation.

"Zimbabwe lost 23 rhinos to poachers last year which was a slight improvement on the 30 that were killed in 2010. Whilst the improved figures are encouraging, it is still completely unacceptable for even one rhino to be killed in view of the fact that they are an endangered species. 37 poachers and illegal horn dealers were arrested and a total of 100 rhino were immobilized for ear notching and horn implanting to facilitate individual identification and monitoring in the field. In addition to this, a US based animal protection group, the International Rhino Foundation launched "Operation Stop Poaching Now" to raise funds to equip rangers in Zimbabwe and South Africa with kits to help them track rhino poachers. South Africa suffered much higher losses last year. 440 rhino were killed by poachers which is tragic.

"A fly over Hwange National Park has revealed that there are 3 coal mining developments, 2 adjoining the park and one actually inside the park. The associated building of roads and increased human activity is bound to lead to an increase in poaching as the area is opened up, access becomes easier and there are more people in the area to carry out the poaching and to buy the poached meat. Of even greater concern is the total devastation of large tracts of land in what was previously a wilderness area. It may not be possible to restore the wildlife once the habitat has been destroyed. According to the Park and Wildlife Act, nobody may mine within a national park unless they have a written agreement from the Minister of Environment and Tourism and to date, it has not been established whether and of the 3 mines has such an agreement. In addition to this, before any development takes place, an Environmental Impact Assessment is required. The Provincial Environmental Manager for Matabeleland North and Bulawayo Provinces was not aware of the mining activities taking place, nor was she able to find any record of Environmental Impact Assessments being done.

"Further to our September 2011 report, the destruction being caused in Chiredzi River Conservancy by land invaders continues unabated. They are cutting down huge ravine hardwood trees at the junction of the Chitora and Mungwezi Rivers. They are cutting everything right down to the river bed and the damage they are causing is permanent. Piles of wood for sale can be seen along the tar road. Poaching is on the increase in all areas remaining with wildlife and the wild elephants are still being threatened. Livestock and people are putting pressure on the remaining wildlife areas. Game fencing is being stolen to make wire snares and as fast as the fences are replaced, they are stolen again. Game guards and workers employed to try and control the situation are being threatened with violence if the poachers' dogs get shot while they are hunting."

"Senator Lundy, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister, has announced that there will be no Diamond Jubilee Medal. She is quoted as saying that 'medals were not part of the Australian honours system' but then what was the Centenary Medal?

"Mr Benwell added: 'Honouring the Queen of Australia has nothing whatsoever to do with the debate on a republic but everything to do with paying tribute to our sovereign head of state who has sought only to serve at the people's will'"

"The Australian Monarchist League has put forward several ways in which the Jubilee can be celebrated at minimal cost, including the planting of sixty trees in each electorate."

I am an "Empire man" who believes that the fall of the British Empire was, along with the rise of Communism and the fall of monarchy, one of the three great catastrophes of the twentieth century. We British are indeed "not angels" but were a lot more angelic than our predecessors or successors. We are not responsible for our ancestors' misdeeds. What we did in Kenya in the 1950s was in response to Mau Mau atrocities; if they hadn't murdered we wouldn't have retaliated and overreacted. How many Hola Camps have there been in Africa since decolonisation?

A SMEAR WHICH MUST BE ANSWERED

We have recently been alerted to an article which keeps on appearing on several sites on the Internet which attacks Gerard Batten MEP (the UKIP MEP for London) for his alleged links with far-Right (i.e. neo-fascist) individuals and organizations. The latest such site where this article appears is at :-

We do not know whether these allegations about Mr. Batten are true or not, and neither do we particularly care. What does concern us, however, is a scurrilous and one-sided comment made thereon about that great South African patriot and martyr Clive Derby-Lewis. This section reads as follows :-

"Lauder-Frost [an alleged associate of Batten] has a history of far-right connections, including with Clive Derby-Lewis who was jailed for life for his role in the murder of the ANC leader Chris Hani."

The first point which must be emphasized here is that Hani wasn't merely an "ANC leader" - he was the leader of the ANC's paramilitary (i.e. terrorist) wing MK, who was therefore directly involved in the terrorist murders of thousands of innocent people of all races in South Africa.

More importantly, however, Clive Derby-Lewis (a former Conservative Party MP - hardly "far" Right therefore!) was only "convicted" at a Stalinist-like show trial conducted by the ANC regime at which no evidence which would stand up in any first-world court was presented. Indeed the seemingly only "evidence" against Clive was that a traitor originally arrested with him turned State's Witness and testified that he had handed him a list of the names and addresses of ANC terrorist leaders. Clive Derby-Lewis was therefore patently innocent of any involvement in Hani's assassination, and his continuing improper imprisonment is therefore one of the more hideous crimes committed by the ANC regime. If the person who wrote this article by any chance ever reads this item then we would ask them to correct this cruel smear against a great and good man.

The severe financial problems which have engulfed Rangers Football Club and have forced it to go into administration have ramifications way beyond the world of Association Football. Rangers F.C. is after more far more than just a Football club. It embodies the Loyalist and Protestant spirit not only in Scotland, but around the English-speaking world.

We are not by nature believers in conspiracy theories, but there seems something highly suspicious about the timing of the exposure of alleged financial malpractices conducted by the Club’s board, and the degree of venom leveled at the Club as a result. Could this by any chance be connected to the proposals for a referendum on Scottish independence by the SNP Scottish administration we wonder? Rangers F.C., or more specifically their masses of well-organised supporters around Scotland – overwhelmingly pro-Unionist to the core – should certainly provide the best vehicle for organised opposition to the SNP’s reprehensible pro-independence agenda. The Scottish F.A. and the Scottish League have more or less admitted that Rangers have not been alone in practicing improper financial schemes – so why therefore haven’t other clubs been investigated? Particularly why haven’t the books of Hearts of Midlothian F.C. – the club which Alex Salmond is closely associated with – been subject to similar minute scrutiny?

In spite of the unprecedented crisis which has overwhelmed Rangers, their myriads of loyal supporters – as could have been expected – have steadfastly remained true. To them loyalty is not to any transient owners, but to the ethos and traditions which the Club represents. At the time of writing there seem to be several potential consortiums interested in rescuing the Club. We hope and pray that the administrators select the consortium which best understands this ethos and tradition, rather than the one offering the most money. The staunch Loyalism and Protestantism of the vast bulk of the Club’s supporters is the “unique selling point” for the Club – and this is something which money simply can’t buy.

The root cause for Rangers’ financial woes has undoubtedly been the acquiring of massively expensive international star players in a quest for European silverware – a problem which is also confronting several top English clubs who don’t enjoy the same higher off-field ideals and meaning. During the late 1970s and 1980s this present writer founded and helped run the Durban Branch of the Rangers F.C. Supporters Association. This Branch ran its own very successful team who competed in the Natal Amateur Soccer League. It was noticeable, however, that the players in this side played their hearts out – to a far higher standard than they did for any other teams which they represented – whenever they put the blue shirt on. This is a factor which future owners of Rangers should remember. The best players the Club can possess are those who understand and support its true ethos and culture, and thus give their all, and not necessarily those with the highest international reputation. To the average Rangers supporter it is not European glory which is the most important thing; it is beating Celtic four times a year!

SPRINGBOK KENT BRANCH GET-TOGETHER

The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club staged a most enjoyable pub gathering in Canterbury last month, to which a number of members from London came down to support. The Branch will also be co-ordinating a planned Springbok Club trip to the Rochester Sweeps Festival in May (as detailed later).

SPRINGBOK CLUB MARCH EVENT

In preparation for this Summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Springbok Club will be staging a conducted walking tour to view some of the venues for the Games in east London from a distance later this month. This event will take place on Saturday 31^st March, and will be centred around Stratford. Full details about rendezvous arrangements will be circulated in a few days time.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB EVENTS

In April it is anticipated that a prominent personality will be addressing the Springbok Club, and in May the Kent Branch will be organizing a trip to the Rochester Sweeps Festival (either on Saturday 5^th May or Monday 7^th May). In subsequent months trips are planned to a race meeting and to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in London, as well as trips to see some of the “free” road events taking place at the Olympic Games. More precise details will be given in future editions of the SCN.

Rodney Atkinson was a lecturer at the University of Mainz in Germany and a merchant banker in the City of London before setting up his own business conferences and commercial property organisations. He has been an occasional adviser to Ministers, the author of over 100 articles and policy papers, three books on political economy and three books on the UK and Europe. Together with the late Norris McWhirter he laid the 1993 Treason charges against Government Ministers for signing the Maastricht Treaty. He stood for the Referendum Party in 1997 when he advised Sir James Goldsmith, and for the UK Independence Party in 1999. He came within 15 votes of becoming leader of UKIP in 2000. In 1999 he launched the British Declaration of Independence - initially called the South Molton Declaration. He is a Visiting Fellow at the University of Buckingham, and in 1997 he founded the FreeNations web-site.

Another more encouraging Olympic development where the “politically correct brigade” are definitely on the back foot, however, relates to mounting opposition to those termed “Plastic Brits”. These are competitors (mainly athletes) who although having no real connection to Britain look like being selected for the GB squad at the Games. They include Mo Farah (Somali born, where he lived his early years), Tiffany Porter (American born and bred, but of Nigerian origin) and Yamile Aldama (Cuban born, but who formerly lived in and represented the Sudan). Even the Minister for Sport and the Olympics, Hugh Robertson, has stated to his great credit that all competitors representing GB should know the words of the British National Anthem.

Nobody can surely object to those with clear ancestral roots who just happened to be born overseas, such as Cricketers Jonathan Trott and Matt Prior etc., and Rugby players Dan Parks and Dylan Hartley etc., representing British national sides, but those with no ancestral ties whatsoever are nothing more than sporting mercenaries. Most British patriots would of course prefer not to win medals rather than have them won by these “plastic Brits” – but there is another even more immoral aspect to this situation. By selecting the likes of Farah and Aldama to run in British colours we are depriving their own war-torn and impoverished countries, Somalia and the Sudan, the chance to gain some Olympic glory, which would undoubtedly bring a little joy into their the lives of their destitute fellow-countrymen and women.

VAUX’S PA

Sir,

A friend passed on a copy of your newsletter [the June 2011 SCN – Ed.] talking about Mr Tim Vaux a few days ago.

It was my misfortune to know Mr Vaux a few years back, and also his father Martin Vaux, and I believe that Vaux junior was badly influenced by his father.

What came to light soon after I met them was that they were both connected to fascist organizations. Martin Vaux had apparently chaired the National Front’s AGM in either 1974 or 1975 (there is dispute over the year), so he must have been quite high up in the party. The National Front at that time was still a democratic political party, but a fascist group managed to usurp power soon afterwards. Mr Vaux supported this fascist group, and when they were expelled a few years later and formed the BNP he joined them. Some years later he left London and moved to north Devon where he took over “The Black Cock” pub in the village of Molland near South Molton. Here he surprisingly joined the local LibDems, who apparently never checked his past. His son Tim meanwhile remained in the BNP. His period running “The Black Cock” was very controversial. He erected a huge signpost pointing to the pub on the main road without any planning permission, and then had to take it down. In the pub both he and Tim would engage in fascist banter with their patrons, with each trying to out-do each other in extremism, and Tim making no bones about his BNP membership. He also placed controversial press-cuttings on what he called the “rant pole” in the pub. Several of the pub’s regulars became annoyed by all their fascist comments and displays, and trade declined. A Torquay local newspaper was alerted to what was happening and sent an undercover reporter who wrote an exposé. As a result Vaux senior was forced to resign from the LibDems and leave the pub.

That was all years ago. The last I heard was that Martin was helping his son with his scrap metal business in Westward Ho!

OBITUARY

MERVYN “MERV THE SWERVE” DAVIES

Mervyn Davies, who sadly died last week, was one of the greatest Rugby players ever to don a Welsh and British Lions jersey.

He played both for London Welsh and for Swansea, and was capped 38 times at No.8 by Wales and 8 times by the British Lions. Unmistakable on the field by his thick white headband and heavy moustache, his ability to evade opposing scrum-halves and flankers at the base of the scrum gave him the endearing nickname of “Merve the Swerve”.

For South Africans, however, Mervyn Davies is best remembered as a key member of Willie-John McBride’s all-conquering 1974 British Lions – “The Invincibles”. It should never be forgotten that all those selected for this tour were subjected to the most intense and threatening intimidation campaign to withdraw by the leftist media and violent anti-South African militants. Not one of those selected gave in to these threats however. They proved not only courageous but indeed heroic. Mervyn Davies was one of those heroes.

In March 1976 however, having earlier that year captained Wales to a Grand Slam triumph, he collapsed on the pitch during Swansea’s match against Pontypool in the Welsh Cup semi-final. He was diagnosed to have suffered a massive brain haemorrhage, but through determination resilience, which had typified his Rugby career, he managed to pull through and survive. He defied death for a further 36 years, an achievement which should be as much an inspiration to us as all his accomplishments on the Rugby field.

Our sincere condolences are extended to his wife Jeni and to his son and daughter.

Although we have often been criticised in the past for commenting upon matters which are not of direct relevance to South Africa in SCN editorials, we believe even so that as the United States remains the leading nation of the West that the forthcoming US Presidential election is of great importance to all of us, so is therefore a valid subject for comment.

When Chou En-Lai, the Chinese Communist leader, stated during the early 1970s that "it was too early to judge" whether the French Revolution had been a success or not, he was ridiculed. Viewed from the historical determinist perspective, however, there was probably much truth in this observation of his. Furthermore, perhaps much the same may be said about the American Revolution. If a recent TV series is to be believed John Adams, the first US Ambassador to the UK and the future President, was warned by King George III when presenting his credentials that the North American colonists could well regret severing their links with the British crown. Almost two and a half centuries later perhaps this warning of his is being proved perceptive.

To be sure, for the first two hundred and thirty years of its existence the United States seems to have been an unqualified success story. Furthermore, both the turns of the 19th/20th centuries and the 20th/21st centuries witnessed a strengthening and cementing of fraternal links between the United States and the British ancestral homeland of most of its citizens. Ever since the aftermath of the American Civil War, however, a fundamental but mainly overlooked change has been taking place in the nature of the United States. A mixture of misplaced guilt for slavery and the "Bring me your tired, poor and huddled masses" mentality have ensured that the ethnic composition of the country has altered dramatically, so that today third world minions comprise a significant and powerful voting-block amongst the electorate.

If we are to ignore for a moment the dispute regarding the true place of birth of President Barack Hussein Obama, the fact remains that even only twenty-five years ago the election of a member of the ethnic minorities as President would have been unthinkable. It has only been the influx of large numbers of third world "huddled masses" which has made this possible. It must be admitted that the first three years of Obama's presidency have not been as disastrous as many predicted, and he is certainly to be congratulated for eliminating both Osama Bin Laden and Anwar Al Awlaki. But has the relative acceptability of his presidency to date been mainly due to the fact that most of his administration have come from more traditional American backgrounds - and what will happen if during his second term of office, should he be re-elected, he re-shuffles his administration to reflect the ethnic composition of his support more accurately? Even more worryingly, what happens if in 2016 an even more radical third world firebrand is chosen as Democratic Party candidate?

For this reason this year's US Presidential Election - specifically the selection of GOP candidate - is of vital importance to the entire West. It could well prove to be the last opportunity for the United States to save itself. Unfortunately, however, the remaining GOP candidates still in the race do not fill us with much hope, as all appear to be flawed in one way or another. Initially we were very impressed with Michelle Bachmann, but sadly she was forced to drop out because of falling support. The front-runner, Mitt Romney, alas fills us full of trepidation - not so much because of his Mormon faith, but more because of persistent rumours that he is controlled by powerful German political interests. In spite of all his abilities and clear pro-Western stance Newt Gingrich concerns us both because of his conversion to Popery and because of his matrimonial infidelities. Rick Santorum is clearly a political light-weight, whose openly expressed antediluvian views, particularly not believing in evolution, means that he will alienate the vast majority of independent voters. As for the lunatic libertarian (i.e. ultra-liberal) Ron Paul, his deranged pro-Islamic policies mean that even the re-election of Obama would probably be preferable!

Much of course will depend upon the choice of the winning candidate's VP running-mate - and indeed upon the planned composition of their future administration. In this regard Newt Gingrich's promise to appoint John Bolton (perhaps the ideal candidate if only he had stood) as Secretary of State encourages us greatly. Perhaps he might even select Mrs. Bachmann as VP running-mate? Could Newt Gingrich, in spite of all his flaws, therefore prove to be the man of the hour who restores the United States, and therefore saves the West as a whole? We wish him well.

SPRINGBOK CLUB'S 2012 AGM

The Springbok Club's 2012 AGM was held on 19th January in central London. After reports from both the Organiser and the Treasurer, and the election of a new Executive Committee for 2012, the meeting was treated to a fascinating presentation about the Battle of Rorke's Drift by Mr. Gary Vincent, using a re-constructed model of the battle site. Mr. Vincent, a prominent local historian, concentrated particularly on the military service of Private George Comberton during the Anglo-Zulu Wars. George Comberton was a Belfast-born volunteer in the British Army who served during the Anglo-Zulu Wars, but who subsequently settled in the east end of London and established a successful chain of butcher's shops in East Ham, Hampstead and Romford.

SPRINGBOK CLUB KENT BRANCH'S FEBRUARY EVENT

The Kent Branch of the Springbok Club will be holding an informal pub-gathering during the afternoon of Saturday 25th February. This event will take place at the "Bat and Ball", 163 Old Dover Road, Canterbury, Kent (opposite the St.Lawrence Cricket Ground). Two Six-Nation Rugby matches will be taking place during the afternoon, Ireland v. Italy at 13.30 hrs and England v. Wales at 16.00 hrs, and both matches will be shown on the "big screen" at the pub - so therefore turn up at any time from 13.00 hrs onwards. The "Bat and Ball" offers an excellent selection of food, as well as a wide range of beers and other drinks.

FUTURE SPRINGBOK CLUB EVENTS

During the next few months the Springbok Club will be holding a number of events, meetings and excursions which will be orientated towards the build-up to the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. In March it is anticipated that a prominent personality will be addressing the organisation, and in subsequent months trips are planned to a race meeting and to the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations in London. More precise details will be given in future editions of the SCN.

SWINTON CIRCLE NEWS

Unfortunately the planned Swinton Circle meeting a few weeks ago featuring a prominent conservative philosopher had to be postponed because of a combination of inclement weather and the temporary immobility of the guest speaker. It is hoped however that this meeting can be re-scheduled for March, and further details will of course be forwarded to all Swinton Circle members and supporters as soon as finalised.

The Swinton Circle has been asked to participate in and help organise a planned convention to take place in June in order to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of John Enoch Powell. This event is due to consist of a conference/rally during the day, followed by a dinner in the evening, under the theme of "Was Enoch Right?". Further information about this event will of course be announced in the fullness of time.

OLYMPIC FEVER

Last weekend witnessed the first "test event" at a major Olympic venue when the World Cup Cycling championships were staged at the new London Olympic velodrome. This event proved to be an unqualified success, with sell-out crowds on all days of competition - thus giving the lie to all the moaning unpatriotic malcontents who used flawed "opinion polls" in order to try to convey the false impression that most people did not support the 2012 Olympics being held in London!

There was however one very worrying matter which was highlighted by this event, namely that the Individual Pursuit races were to be dropped from the 2012 London Olympics, following the earlier dropping of that other traditional Olympic Track Cycling event, the 1km Time Trial. It is not only Track Cycling which has suffered at the hands of IOC officialdom in this way, for Rowing has also had several of its traditional coxed races dropped from the Olympic schedule over recent years - yet at the same time silly artificial events which rely upon "artistic judgement" such as synchronised swimming and diving and rhythmic gymnastics have been added! We hope that we are not seeing a conspiracy theory here, but is it any coincidence that Cycling and Rowing are two Olympic sports where Great Britain and other core Commonwealth countries excel the most?

The Swinton Circle tried to initiate a campaign to have One Mile athletic races included in the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games, as many readers will recall. Unfortunately, however, the IOC responded by stating that it was too late to have any additional events added to the 2012 Olympic schedule. Perhaps we should now therefore start to mount a campaign to have not only One Mile athletic races added to the 2016 Rio and subsequent Olympic and Paralympic Games, but also to re-instate the dropped Individual Pursuit and 1Km Time Trial track cycling events, and all the coxed rowing races!

No.159 : Mr. ERIC "FLASH" FLOCKHART of Durban.

"Flash" Flockhart lived in the Seaview area of Durban, and was a loyal and active member of the Conservative Party of S.A. in the locality. He was also a keen amateur conjurer - hence his nickname! Sir,

It was with immense joy and pleasure that I learnt that Fred Rundle croaked on 1st February 2012. He died as cowardly as he'd lived - taking an overdose of sleeping tablets and insulin.

We will forever remember this disgraceful and unremarkable fool as a cruel, vindictive, spiteful and petty buffoon, who back-stabbed and betrayed not only his close family and best friends, but also his people.

Rundle was a paid police informant for the ANC, all while masquerading as a right-wing AWB official. Whilst married to his first wife Margaret he committed statutory rape and incest by having illicit sex with 14 year-old Christina Otto, who was his first cousin. In later life Christina had to obtain a protection order against this violent bully, and a court order to force this squatter out of her property and her bitter life.

May John Frederick Otto Rundle's rotting carcass burn in hell, and may his accursed soul roam in tortured restlessness for all infinity, as retribution for the needless suffering, betrayal and pain he caused during his pointless, hate-filled life.

Goodbye Fred, and good riddance. The world's a better place now.

ROGUES GALLERY

We have recently been alerted to a most revealing web-site detailing the sinister nature of Mr. Arthur Kemp. Most readers will be aware that although we regarded Mr.Kemp as a true friend and a loyal supporter of our movement whilst we were still based in South Africa during the 1980s, we were warned by another colleagues from the Transvaal even then that he was not to be trusted, as he was believed to be working for the security services in order to spy upon those opposing the NP government's sell-out plans - particularly the Conservative Party of S.A., for whom he worked for a while (until being dismissed after suspicions came to light). Alas we never listened to these warnings during the 1980s, and paid a very heavy price for this mistake some 20 years later after he mysteriously turned up in the UK and initiated a vile and seemingly irrational smear campaign against his former friends. Of particular interest in this recently recommended web-site is an article exposing the facts and true nature of Kemp apparently written by his first ex-wife (he is now twice married and twice divorced). We have subsequently had it verified that this article was definitely written be his ex-wife. It can be accessed at :-

Of specific current interest to us is Kemp's relationship to the late Fred Rundle, whose death has been commented about in a letter above. We had earlier believed that Kemp had been behind a smear web-site attacking Fred Rundle which was mentioned in a letter which appeared in the November 2011 edition of the SCN (www.fredrundle.info), as we knew that creating fabricated smear web-sites was one of Kemp's specialities. Subsequently, however, we have been informed that Kemp was evidently on very good terms with Rundle, and that he had not in any way been involved in this web-site attacking Rundle. We would therefore be very keen to learn any further information about these two controversial men and their relationship with one another. Needless to say, any information which we receive will be treated in the strictest confidence.
