January 2012 Edition.

January 2012 edition

2011 proved to be a very eventful and encouraging year as far as world affairs were concerned - though alas there still appeared no signs of improvement in chaotic and lawless southern Africa.

The "Arab Spring", the removal of the despicable tyrant Gaddafi from Libya and the elimination of the satanic terrorist Bin Laden and his henchmen, surely delighted all decent minded people. Let us hope that 2012 may see the end-game for southern African tyrants and terrorists such as Mugabe, Mandela and Zuma!

But it was events within the EU caused by the Euro crisis which brought the greatest reason for hope for the future however. With the artificial Euro currency collapsing and the increasing likelihood that Greece, Italy, the Republic of Ireland and perhaps other countries will be forced out of this impractical merger, there is a strong possibility that the entire "European Project" may soon come tumbling down. If this happens and the great European nation states are able to re-emerge as free and independent entities then it will only be good news for the world as a whole.

In Britain in particular the end of 2011 brought good news - and not only because David Cameron surprised us all by providing leadership and defiance against the EU structure! Two small but significant events during December showed that patriotic sentiment within the UK was on the rise, in spite of attempts by malcontents and foreign interests earlier during the year to imply the opposite. Shortly before Christmas it was announced that a patriotic recording by "The Military Wives" had reached No.1 spot in the charts for the much sought-after Christmas Week - evidently out-selling all the other Top Ten recordings put together! Secondly it was reported that the crowds who lined the route for the Royal Family's attendance at the Sandringham Christmas Day Church Service were THREE TIMES greater than ever previously! Compare these FACTS to attempts by anti-British elements 1) to make out that there were "riots" in "England" during August (in reality these were simply isolated outbreaks of hooliganism and criminality - if you want to know what real riots look like then go to Athens and Cairo!), and 2) to exaggerate the size and importance of the Marxist/Anarchist "Occupy" encampment outside St.Paul's Cathedral. Both of these retrograde happenings only received support from a very small percentage of the population, and moreover foreigners involved were in far greater percentage numbers than in the population as a whole. It was the demonstrations of support for "The Military Wives" and the Royal Family which clearly represented the true spirit of Britain during 2011.

2012, Olympic Year, therefore shows all the hallmarks of being a great year for the rejuvenation of the British nation - and not only because of the increased probably of a complete collapse of the EU. A severe danger still lies with the splitists of the SNP and their clamour for Scottish independence of course, but hopefully support for the splitists can speedily be neutralised and reversed, and in this respect the glory of a united Great Britain team competing in the Olympic Games - especially the United GB soccer side - will undoubtedly play a significant role. In addition increased tourism by supporters from the core Commonwealth countries - Canada, Australia and New Zealand - may well reignite global British patriotism, and with potential disentanglement from the EU may well help and encourage these other British-stock countries to reject their own Pan-American and Asiatic entanglements.

The months ahead will certainly inspire us!

The Springbok Club held a most happy and exhilarating social get-together just before the New Year in central London. It was good to see a number of old faces who hadn't been actively involved for some time present, and provisional plans and arrangements were discussed for an exciting itinerary of events for the organisation during early 2012.

The Springbok Club's 2012 Annual General Meeting will take place on Thursday 19th January 2012, commencing at 19.00 hrs.

Only fully paid-up members, Life Members and Honorary Members of the Springbok Club will be entitled to attend this meeting (though subscriptions may be renewed on the night), and only Honorary, Life and Full Members will be allowed to vote or to stand for office.

The agenda will be as follows :-

1) Organiser's report for 2011.
2) Treasurer's report for 2011.
3) Branch Development report for 2011.
4) Election of officers to the Executive Committee and other appointments for 2012.
5) Motions for debate (if any).
6) Any other business.

All nominations for office and motions for debate must be proposed and seconded by Honorary, Life or fully paid-up Full Members of the Springbok Club, and must be submitted in writing or by e-mail to the current Executive Committee prior to the meeting.

Once the business side of affairs has been concluded [at approximately 20.00 hrs] non-members who are supporters of the organisation will be allowed to join proceedings, which will consist of an illustrated talk about Private George Comberton to be presented by Mr. Gary Vincent. Private George Comberton was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and joined the 1st Battalion of the 24th Regiment of Foot in 1870, with whom he served during the Zulu Wars. According to his grandson in his article "Battle of Rorke's Drift" he was reputed to have fought at both Rorke's Drift and Isandlwana. After leaving the Army George Comberton settled in East Ham and then Hampstead, establishing a chain of butcher’s shops in both these places and in Romford.

All current members of the Springbok Club should already have been informed of the precise details of this meeting by separate e-mail. If any other supporters of the organisation would like to attend the latter part of proceedings please either e-mail or 'phone 07711188430 to learn of the location.

During the next few months the Springbok Club will be holding a number of events, meetings and excursions which will be orientated towards the build-up to the London Olympic and Paralympic Games. This will include a social get-together organised by the Kent Branch in Canterbury during February. More precise details will be given in future editions of the SCN.

Plans are now in preparation for an interesting Swinton Circle meeting during the final week of January, and full details will be circulated to all members and supporters as soon as arrangements have been finalised.

Donations to the Swinton Circle can now be made via PayPal by accessing the organisation's main web-site at: The Swinton Circle also now has a presence on Twitter, on which news about the organisation and policy statements are periodically posted. This can be found on Twitter@SwintonCircle.

Most of Africa’s big cats such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs could be facing extinction within the next two decades unless urgent action is taken by African governments. Leading conservation groups are calling urgently for increased efforts to save them. Internationally populations of lions, leopard, cheetahs and especially tigers have been decimated in the past half-century. Leading scientists report that tigers “have become so rare that lions have become their soup-bone substitutes, sought for Asian medicines and ‘tiger bone’ wine.” We need to ask ourselves if we really want to live in a world without lions and leopards in the wild.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) estimate that over the last 50 years lions living wild on the plains of Africa have decreased from 450,000 to only 25,000. During the same period, leopards have decreased from 750,000 to 50,000 and cheetahs from 45,000 to 12,000. Tiger’s numbers have dropped from 50,000 to a mere 3,000 (of which only 1,200 are breeding-age females).

Derek Joubert, an internationally renowned wildlife camera man and National Geographic television documentary producer knows too well what effects 7 billion people on the planet has on our remaining wild spaces. He is of the opinion that the big cats will all be lost in 10-15 years.

At SanWild we have 16 beautiful lions all rescued from South Africa’s infamous captive lion breeding industry. The animals were all confiscated by the authorities and arrived at SanWild in 2003 where they have been living a full and secure life in their respective prides.

Caring for these lions has remained an uphill financial battle and there have been times when we have had to come up with some very ingenious ways to ensure that sufficient funding is available to ensure the lions next meal. There have also been times when our financial situation became so dire that we had to consider putting the lions to sleep if we should fail to come up with the necessary donor funding. However with the support of our friends out in the public domain we have managed time and time again to overcome our dire financial crisis and ensure the lions’ continue welfare.

We now alas once again find ourselves in a dire financial situation in respect to have enough funds to ensure that the lions' next meals is secured until end of February by which time our donations should start picking up again. January and February is the worst time of the year for us as donor funding dwindle to an all time low as people recover from festive season expenditure. This is also the time when SanWild is overrun with intakes of injured, orphaned and traumatised wildlife and our rehabilitation and feeding costs skyrocket.

May we please ask you to spare a thought for our lions and consider a donation for our lions to ensure their welfare and next meals as soon as possible? All donations are appreciated, no matter how large or small. Our animals’ lives depend on securing the funding and we will be most appreciative of your support.

You can make a donation by means of a direct internet or bank transfer into our trust account at:

Kleinfontein is a community of approximately 1000 members of the Afrikaner people. We have established a settlement on property owned, controlled and managed by its members with a view to promote their identity in a safe and economically viable environment. This settlement was established in accordance with certain clauses in the South African constitution which makes provision for a form of territorial self-determination for people who share the same religious, linguistic and cultural values. The development is structured within a non-profit co-operative, is managed by mainly unpaid volunteers, is financed by its own members and consequently receives no financial assistance from the government. In view of the struggle of our people to retain our right to live in a dignified way, and government actions to impoverish our people legally by barring White persons from meaningful access to economic participation, any form of support, especially financial, will be appreciated. More than seventy White squatter camps (mainly Afrikaners) in our vicinity (Pretoria) are waging a battle to survive. The funds will be used for community upliftment programmes such as the upgrading of facilities at our home for the aged who need medical support, and our Christian primary school. British Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Jeremy Hunt, recently gave a newspaper interview in which he emphasised what a great boost to the British economy hosting the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games would prove to be. To us, however, this was simply "stating the bleeding obvious", as we have constantly stated that hosting such a phenomenal global sporting spectacular will give Britain a unique financial advantage over all other international economies - and this at a time when the rest of the world increasingly languishes in economic recession.

It is astonishing therefore to learn that there are still some who don't seem to comprehend the realities of macro-economics, and still try to argue that Britain somehow can't afford to host the Games. These neanderthals quote all the "costs" involved in building the Olympic infrastructure - but history has shown over and over again that forced expenditure on specific projects is the best method of overcoming any economic downturn. During the ill-fated Springbok Club gathering in Belfast last August one uninvited pea-brain caused great consternation and anger by trying to assert that the 2012 Olympics should be "handed over to Athens" and that "All [NB, not some or most, but ALL] workers on the Olympic sites were foreign!" - without being able to produce any evidence to support this bizarre claim! The individual in question proudly termed himself a Nationalist however, and displayed a general hatred for England and all things English (and London in particular!), so perhaps therefore his lunatic arguments should be dismissed with the contempt which they deserve. Let us therefore try to explain to him and any other dim-head who might still be unconvinced of all the advantages which hosting the Olympics will bring not only to London but to the whole of the United Kingdom - including Northern Ireland :-

1) Direct employment opportunities - a classic case of "British jobs for British workers", and a consequent reduction in unemployment payouts.
2) Indirect employment opportunities - not only in industries providing materials and component parts for the Olympic sites, but also for local retail and entertainment outlets, as Olympic site workers and their families have more money in their pockets to spend.
3) Boost to the tourism industry - not only from international tourism but also from domestic tourism as Britons flock to watch their heroes; and it will not only be London and Weymouth which will benefit, as the Olympic Torch Relay will go around the British Isles, and Soccer games are to be played around the nation.
4) The "Feel-Good factor" - even if Britain's medal tally doesn't prove to be as high as hoped, the very fact that the world's premier sporting tournament is taking place in the country will generate great happiness and excitement for the population as a whole, and an enthused people are far less likely to commit crimes and far more likely to initiate new enterprises.
5) International reputation - most of the recent Olympics have greatly boosted the standing and reputations of the host nations. Seoul in 1988 was a component factor in the emergence of the so-called "Asian Tiger" economies; Barcelona in 1992 was the catalyst which enabled Spain to escape its Franco past and emerge as an advanced nation; Sydney in 2000 demonstrated to the world that Australia was not only a lucky country but also a great country; and Beijing in 2008 gave China great international respectability (though we would argue undeserved).
6) The legacy - with so many new stadiums and sites constructed British sporting excellence is bound to improve for generations to come. Furthermore, even more major global competitions are bound to be held in the UK (already the 2015 Rugby World Cup and the 2017 World Athletic Championships have been confirmed), meaning yet more employment opportunities, tourism boosts and general economic advantages.

This present writer has recently had the pleasure of being able to visit the new Westfield Centre shopping and entertainment complex at Stratford. This part of London, it should not be forgotten, was just a few short years ago an almost exclusively immigrant ghetto area, yet now it glistens with indigenous British excellence and pride. One of the pubs in the complex, which has an emotionally inspiring vista over the main Olympic Stadium, was packed with Olympic site workers during this visit - and practically all the clientele (Belfast Nationalist R.Sole please note) were White British. Here could be seen Britain's future - and that future is golden!

The narrative gives the reader an overview of the history of the White man in southern Africa with detailed emphasis on the Rhodesian story through the life and times of PK van der Byl, one of the major players in a political drama that ended in the accession to power of Robert Mugabe under the auspices of the British government. By his very nature PK was controversial and confrontational. This account is likely to give offence to some because it portrays him as bluntly as he was in real life. Much can be contested about PK van der Byl but few will dispute he was an extremely colourful character with a devilish sense of humour. This memoir covers his life with a full flourish while doing nothing to detract from the seriousness of the international political and military conflict in which he was engaged. The reader will glean new information on a highly controversial subject and emerge with a more sympathetic understanding of what PK van der Byl and his colleagues did and strove for. The human tragedy that has followed the removal from power of Ian Smith and his Rhodesian Front party will almost certainly force the reader to deal with some uncomfortable conclusions, of value to anyone sincere about grappling with the volatile and deeply troubling challenges that confront all Africans today.

No.158 :  Mr. ODVAR OTNES of Norway

Odvar Otnes was one of the earliest subscribers to S.A.Patriot (No.23 in fact!), though alas we never actually met him in person. He was evidently of Norwegian origin, although he lived on the Witwatersrand during the 1980s. We learnt a short time ago that he had evidently moved back to his native Norway after the fall of civilised rule in South Africa, and had bought a farm to the north of Oslo. Unfortunately we have not been able to discover his precise location in Norway, but it would be good to learn his address so that we can forward him his copies of S.A.Patriot-in-Exile.

Our very good friend and colleague Derek Turner has recently written an excellent review of the book "Into the Cannibal's Pot - Lessons for America from Post-Apartheid South Africa" by Ilana Mercer, which appears on the web-site of the US-based "Alternative Right" organisation. Ilana Mercer was born in South Africa into an ultra-liberal family who decided to emigrate to the United States because they opposed the system of government then established in South Africa. In spite of her liberal origins, and the fact that she is still critical of certain aspects of pre-1994 South Africa, Ilana Mercer has been intellectually honest enough to recognise the disastrous situation which prevails in today's disintegrating "new" South Africa - and brave enough to tell the world the facts about that benighted country. This is an ideal article to read for anyone who still believes that there is any hope for South Africa under the current regime. It can be accessed at :-—beloved-benighted-countries/

Please find below our suggestions for fixing the UK's economy :-

Instead of giving billions of pounds to banks that will squander the money on lavish parties and unearned bonuses, use the following plan. You can call it the Patriotic Retirement Plan.

There are about 10 million people over 50 in the work force. Pay them £1 million each severance for early retirement with the following stipulations:

1) They MUST retire. Ten million job openings - unemployment fixed.

2) They MUST buy a new British car. Ten million cars ordered - Car Industry fixed.

3) They MUST either buy a house or pay off their mortgage - Housing Crisis fixed.

4) They MUST send their kids to school/college/university - Crime rate fixed.

5) They MUST buy £100 WORTH of alcohol/tobacco a week ..... and there's your money back in duty/tax etc.

It can't get any easier than that!

P.S. If more money is needed, have all members of parliament pay back their falsely claimed expenses and second home allowances.

Also ....

Let's put the pensioners in jail and the criminals in a nursing home.

This way the pensioners would have access to showers, hobbies and walks. They'd receive unlimited free prescriptions, dental and medical treatment, wheel chairs etc and they'd receive money instead of paying it out. They would have constant video monitoring, so they could be helped instantly, if they fell, or needed assistance. Bedding would be washed twice a week, and all clothing would be ironed and returned to them. A guard would check on them every 20 minutes and bring their meals and snacks to their cell. They would have family visits in a suite built for that purpose. They would have access to a library, weight room, spiritual counseling, pool and education. Simple clothing, shoes, slippers, PJ's and legal aid would be free, on request. Private, secure rooms for all, with an exercise outdoor yard, with gardens. Each senior could have a PC a TV radio and daily phone calls. There would be a board of directors to hear complaints, and the guards would have a code of conduct that would be strictly adhered to.

The criminals would get cold food, be left all alone and unsupervised. Lights off at 8pm, and showers once a week. Live in a tiny room and pay £600.00 per week and have no hope of ever getting out. Think about this (more points of contention):

Also ....

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Appleby almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the county of Cumbria, and they even tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 125,000 illegal immigrants wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow.

Yours etc.,

L.A.N., London, U.K.

I read your recent article on Basil D'Oliveira in the December edition of the SCN. I was very impressed with the way the article was written and finally to hear the truth. At the same time I was very disturbed with the contents I was reading. It's hard to comprehend that a young cricketer, who was trying to make his name, could be used as a puppet to sour and then later destroy relations between Britain and South Africa.

Yours etc.,

Craig, London, U.K.
